Wisp or Silver could be useful in here.
-
Wisp needs to be in on this. Maybe during the events one of the bad guys can let slip her link to Kal-Zed?
-
If there's room, I'd like to throw Silver Spider's hat into the ring.
-
Silver Spider sat quietly, crouched on the side of a pillar near to where the aquatic heroes and the Atlantian priestess were talking. She had settled her right wrist's webshooter on one bent knee. She listened as they spoke of this Dread Leviathan while she reached into a small cleaning kit on her belt pulling partially dried web fluid from the nozzle. Once the priestess stepped outside earshot, the gravity bending heroine replaced her device and the costume's glove over it before making one high arcing leap to land next to her companions. Of course, with our luck today, she's the one who aided the Lovecraftian fishmen, or at least the leader of a heretical sect, and this is where the knife is stuck to cover everything up Silver thought to herself. Aloud she said quietly, "Hopefully the order is small. I have a bad feeling about this."

Stepping through the ancient city, Silver Spider remained just as awed as when she had seen it from the outside. At the sergeant's comment about bringing any of the ritual gear with them the scientist's mind sparked with the idea of taking time to take her time and work on a more robust version of her current rush-job goggles with a recording feature. Maybe an ability to zoom in on an object too. 'Later Jen, plenty of time for that when you get home,' she thought to herself. Blinking her eyes to bring her attention back to the her surroundings and noticed the Triton's subdued body language as they walked. Lowering her voice she spoke towards Wave-Eye, "You okay? You seem a little..., I don't know, deflated."

The splendor and beauty of the sunken city left the scientist more than a little awed as her improvised atmospheric diving suit propelled her towards the bottom of the ocean. She was also pleasntly surprised that her rush-job had avoided breaking down in any significant fashion during the trip. After Wave-Eye's brief conversation with the guards who had swum out to intercept them with the overly ornate armor and spears, she followed the guards as they lead Temperance and Wave-Eye to their superior, her awe at the architecture of Atlantis growing as she moved closer it. "To be fair, Temperance and I hadn't spoken. However there's a warehouse full of Deep Ones and ritual gear back in Freedom City that said they were working with 'watersingers' from the 'Golden City' to dismember this Leviathon being," she began while unclasping the wristmounted propellers from her suit, draining the sea water from the internal bits. "Honestly, my companions understand this better than I do, I'm just here because the first fragment of Leviathon was sent after an amusment park on the boardwalk and I have a bad habbit of seeing things through."

Watching her comrad get knocked solidly on his back, Photonia summoned her will and took off into the air while gathering the energy to send another blast at Silver Spider. Silver however had other plans, nimbly jumping away from the impact before loosing a webline towards her foe. Yanking on the webbing now attached to the mercenary she all but flew towards the New Freedonian, impacting with a solid crash before pushing against her to flip backwards and stick to a building's wall. "Now would probably be a good time for you to surrender," Silver observed. Meanwhile, on the ground, Coppertop slowly shook his head as if to clear it. As he rose to his feet, his eyes had a glassy, punch-drunk look to them as he tried to focus on Velocity. Pressing his hand to the patch on his chest he grunted, "Phoenix One, activate From the Ashes."

Looking back at Temperance and Wave-Eye, Silver Spider shook her head. "No, no. Half the stuff I need is already half-done for an upgrade to my costume. Part of the problem with what I've got is just miniaturizing it for day-to-day... ," looking at the expressions on the aquatic heroes' faces she trailed off before stating, "Give me about half an hour. Forty-five minutes if traffic's heavy between the skyscrapers." With that the scientist slung webs back to her workshop, refitted her costume with a thin exosuit layer, did a rush install of a night-vision system into the goggles of her mask, and attached a rebreather she had been tinkering with. The mini-thrusters she installed last around her boots had been intended for submarine-launched missiles but they had a tendancy to behave unreliably once out of the water. After completing the rush-job, tieing off some loose wires inside the suit and duct taping everything close she made her way back. "Not my best work," she sighed once she landed, "But I didn't have time for the spinning rims or undercarriage lights. So, lets go have a chat in the sunken city."

The more petite of the mercenaries fired a short volley of photonic blasts at the blue and silver heroine, who dodged almost all of them. The one blow that did connect with her was completely absorbed by the subtley placed sections of armor in her costume's chestpiece. The light controller spat a short series of words in a language neither Velocity or Silver Spider could understand, though given her body language and glare she was clearly cursing. In response, Silver fired off a stream of webbing at her opponent. In a taunting tone she called out, "Watch your mouth!" Her mocking tactic didn't seem to be of much help however as the merc rolled out of the way of the webbing. Coppertop was considerably less chatty in combat however, he just pulled a sizable chunk of asphalt out of the road to hurl at Velocity. An almost insultly slow attack to the speedster's perception, allowing the yellow clad woman to sidestep at the last second.

"There's a difference between being a better bad guy and basic competancy," the scientist said as she climbed up the wall of the shaft to a ventilation grate. "Hiring guys like that one is almost insulting." Pulling a small tool from her belt she unscrewed the barrier between her and the dust filled aluminum crawlspace beyond. Webbing the grate to a wall she muttered, "And now I get to know how a tv dinner feels." Looking back at her girlfriend, "If they do start chucking the grenades, I guess this would be where the skeet slinging I've been doing will pay off. Now, give me just a minute to get into place then do something dramatic to get their attention."

Thought I had, by the time I double checked the thread had been locked. Oh well.

After the Deep One's unintelligible noises coming from it's fang-filled mouth ceased she mimed cleaning her ears. "I've heard dial-up modems with less horrible audio discharge than whatever these things speak...," she muttered After Wave-Eye shared what he had learned from the ritualist she added with a mutter, "They want to flood the planet? Are they aware that at the rate we're going humanity will have done much of their work for them?" Taking no chances, she piled the various unconscious Deep Ones and coccooned them in webbing. "I don't have an easy way to reach Atlantis, no. And I'm going to need some time in my workshop to whip something up if we're going to the bottom of the ocean next."

"Part defensive reaction, partly my powers having a bit of a mind of their own," Siphon admitted, "I will admit, your super-speed has been interesting to use. Last run-tastic power I absorbed wasn't even half as fast and actually left me feeling pretty pained." The masked man looked around at the wrecked bikes and unconcious gang members, "Probably a good thing my instincts kicked in. Horrible aim and your speed aside, that many against one just isn't fair." Taking a minute to weigh how much trouble he might get in with Megan if she knew he was both running around the city beating up thugs and what he was about to ask. "So, please, ease my guilt. I know a pretty good coffee shop not far from here, can I buy you some caffeinated goodness to make up for whatever lingering effects may be affecting you?"

Silver meanwhile... 1d20+18=32 (Damn I hope IC gets back up soon)

Siphon rounded the corner Velocity and the last of the Dark Fists had taken, though when he saw the yellow-clad speedster standing over the unconscious forms of the last thugs he slowed to a normal, if brisk, walking pace. Stepping into the circle of light cast by the streetlight almost directly overhead he smiled. "Nice work," he said pulling a pair of gloves on as he moved forward. Holding out his now covered right hand he said, "Name's Siphon, a pleasure to meet you Velocity." "And since we're apparently done chasing Zoomers and motorcycle riding thugs with terrible aim, I'd like to take just a second to apologize for the unsolicited duplication of your speed. I try to avoid doing that to fellow heroes, terribly rude," he said.
-
"Look on the bright side, at least you're properly dressed for the evening's activities this time," Silver Spider replied, with a smirk evident in her voice. "But yeah, this is so obviously a trap. When we find the mastermind of this little plot, after we leave him hanging upside down from the ceiling I'm suggesting he hire minions with better acting skills next time." "Well, it's an idea I don't care for but we could play this by having you go out while I stick to the shadows or the ventilation shafts looking for a more advantageous ambush point. If it weren't for their grenades, I would be completely on board with a repeate of our plan at Saint George's," the scientist whispered.
-
The light shooting mercenary pulled herself out of the dent her impact had made of the car, gathering light in her hand to send streaking at the woman who had assaulted her. "You have guts, I like that in a victim," she sneared as the blast took Silver Spider in the stomach. Her aim must have been slightly off however as the armored costume took the bulk of the strike. Spider's retaiation was swift if poorly aimed, spraying webbing to the windshield, hood, and wheels of the damaged vehicle. Stupid gut shots she groused mentally as the super-mercenary dodged her attack. The sound of shifting rubble drew Velocity and Silver's attention before a large chunk of bricks sailed past the speedster's head to knock out another shop's window. A second later the larger of the mercs shambeled out of his impact crater covered in morter and brick dust, various veins sticking up from under his skin though they were showing a coppery tone rather than looking like normal blood veins. "Lucky shot girl," she growled, "The contracted said just the Owens girl but I'm sure a couple new subjects will get us a nice bonus."
