    Being Yourself(IC)

Taking a seat in one of the less than comfortable chairs, the white haired girl rubbed her temples. "When he wakes up, I owe him an apology of epic proportions, don't I?" After a minute or two of sitting with little more than the sound of florescent lighting overhead to fill the air, Victoria let out a sigh. "So, while we're waiting, I don't suppose you can give me at least a short version of what they didn't think would happen so soon?" she asked, looking at Subito and Galanta.
  2. As Silver Spider and Glow made their way, as quietly as possible, away from the scene, the arachnid themed heroine was oddly reminded of a line from one of her favorite science-fiction shows. "You know, I have to say your ability for irritating reporters is near miraculous." Once they reached the dressing rooms, the taller heroine ducked inside, retrieving their bags from where she had hidden them, still wrapped in a ball of her webbing. "These would be both our bags. Time to make ourselves scarce?"
  3. Mack's left eyebrow quirked, "Hold on a second, you're Sam Howell's little sister? Do me a favor, tell her thanks again for all that tutoring back in our freshman and sophomore years. She, in a sense, is responsible for my career. ...She isn't seeing anyone is she?" Kyle let his face into his palm, "You just don't have an off switch for trying to secure a date, do you?" "Nope," the former quarterback smirked, leading his guests down the stairs and through a door to a large, windowless room. The walls were covered in curtains similar to an actual theater's. The black leather furniture looked comfortable and inviting, while in the back corner a vending machine stood next to a popcorn cart. Looking around, Kyle noticed three shapes in the dim light laying back in their seats. Without looking, the single male form raised a hand, "Hey. Mack, I was just looking over your game collection. You are aware there's more to gaming than Call of Duty and Madden right?" To Megan he whispered, "Better grab a seat, they do this pretty much every time he comes over."
  4. Rather than acknowledge the lawyer's comments, she turned to to police officers, the ones without powered sugar and doughnut crumbs on the fronts of their uniforms, and added, "The manager's office is back this way. There should still be security recordings unless somebody tampered with evidence." With Towers being strapped to a gurney and carted out the door, the arachnid heroine noticed Jack Jackson scraping her webbing off his camera with a pocket knife. Glancing at the redhead she whispered, "I think it's time we vacated the area. Your fan club is almost through my 'media blackout'."
  5. Yeah, I'll pop the HP, going to try and dazzle BK3 again. 1d20+8, DC 18 reflex.
  6. With Megan's hand on his arm, the older of the pair suddenly wished he did not have all that pesky leather and cloth between their flesh. Easy Kyle, don't let your instincts run things, he admonished himself, taking a slow breath. Plastering a sly smile across his face he replied, "That must be a lot of clothes. But I think I can be persuaded into being a Sherpa." Mack nodded, "Yep, I went all out on the place. Leather recliners and loveseats, snack vending machine, even a popcorn machine. And then there's the ninety inch LCD screen. The back wall has space for the food and drinks to be spread out and I've got some TV trays so we're not holding grease covered goodness in our laps." "The man thinks of everything," Kyle replied, "And now we know where the paychecks from those couple seasons with the Ravens are going huh?"
  7. "No thanks, I'm good. I just regret that I forgot to grab my grocery carabiner. If the bags aren't over loaded, I can carry about fifty pounds of groceries with one hand." After a minute or so, the door opened to reveal Mack wearing a pair of blue jeans and a Baltimore Ravens jersey. Smiling he said, "Hey guys, come on in." He gave Megan a quick once over as they passed him for the kitchen before saying quietly, "I can see why you won't shut up about her man. You lucky jerk." Giving his former teammate a wink the reporter moved into the kitchen and started putting away the game-time goodies. "So, when can we expect Adam, Nick and their dates to arrive?" "Nick's stopping by the store for some extra pizza fixings, Adam and the ladies are checking out the home theater I just finished putting in downstairs. Want to check it out? Only thing it's missing from the full experience is some jerk in the seat in front of you texting."
  8. As the crowd broke down into chaos after the gunshots, Kyle slipped back into a dark alley between a pair large display booths and withdrew his mask from the coat. Attaching it firmly to his face, he kept his head down while wading into the surge of chaos. Noticing the trio of toughs moving towards the front, specifically the admissions counter and their cash box, the reporter followed behind. He got a little worried when he saw one had pulled a gun but quickly shook it off, knowing the thug had just unknowingly signaled himself as the first to sate Siphon's 'Hunger'.
  9. Siphon's going to put on his mask and start looking for the source of the trouble... 1d20+5=17
  10. "What can I say, there's something about cute women in those uniforms every guy responds to," he said with a flirtatious smirk, "Besides, in all honesty, North Bay Academy's were considerably nicer looking than my high school school's." After Megan parked her SUV neatly along the curb, Kyle buttoned his coat back up and slipped out to grab all of the bags from the rear. Carrying the collection of salads, sodas, booze, and baked goods to the door he nodded slightly, "Would you be so kind as to ring the bell? I'm afraid if I move the bags too much the bottles of Jack and Captain Morgan will rip trough."

  12. Having neglected to check for any sort of communication device between the aquatic heroes, Silver Spider looked back and forth between the scaled fish-men and their self-propelled tank of water to the others trying before figuring a signal unlikely to alert their targets. It was somewhat sloppy but she was able to fire a quick series of webbing sprays on the ground, the result being four blobs roughly where the ritualists were standing inside. Once she had their attention she motioned for the other heroes to charge in. "Note to self, carry extra comm-links in the future," she muttered to herself.
  13. Taking his hands from his knee he rubbed his chin and the bit of stubble that had grown overnight he smirked, "Well, I was going for the scruffy nerf-herder look. Sorry, been on a Star Wars kick after picking up one of the expanded universe books at that convention the other day." "Not really, though unless you have a gamer streak you've neglected to mention, try and avoid the subject of video games with Nick. He was the computer nerd of our circle of friends and that interest has taken him far. Or it will if the company he's trying to launch ever releases their game." After a pause he added, "Also, If you mention having been a cheerleader at North Bay Academy, don't be surprised if Mack or Adam ask if you still have the uniform somewhere. I know it's something I've been wondering myself." His last words were delivered in a flirtatious tone and with a sly grin.
  14. Not entirely sure there's much point but whatever... 1d20+8=18, +10 for HP and she's still dazed and staggered.
  15. Reflex: 1d20+6=7 Toughness: 1d20+8=28 Toughness vs autofire: 1d20+8=9 Flop...
  16. Massaging his knee, he shrugged, "Maybe. Though most of my assignments are in town, which has possibly the best public transportation in the country, or I'm sent covering things like sporting events or conventions, which generally means two cab rides or a shuttle bus. Besides, if I bought a car, I'd have nowhere to park it. I rent my off-street parking spot to a neighbor's kid." "So, vehicular commentary aside, you're looking as lovely as ever," he said with a grin.
  17. I didn't see anyone call him so, mind if I use Bowman for Wisp's vignette?
  18. Clicking the screen lock on his phone he looked up at Dave, Kyle replied with a bit of a huff, "Crap. I'll be along in a minute. Still hashing some things out with Lenny." Of course Kyle could not tell his companion the fact both his crime fighting and reporter's instincts were telling him the trio of out of place men were up to something. Once his photographer had walked off, Kyle reached into his coat's inner pocket, feeling for the domino mask he kept in there. He could not consciously explain it but he knew he was going to need it very soon.
  19. Noticing how easily he had blocked her last attempt at blinding him, and now surrounded by robotic bees, Silver Spider tried to judge where the armored man had been in the cloud. Firing a multitude of quick bursts of web fluid in his general area, the arachnid themed heroine attempted to avoid any counter-attacks from a hero she had worked with before. With any luck, the blobs of webbing will have left him distracted and open to one of the others' attacks. Note to self, grab a couple of these bee-bots when this is done, she thought to herself, a few idea for new crime fighting tools coming to her even as she tried to avoid being hit.
  20. The older woman raised an eyebrow, watching her daughter's boyfriend struggle to pull his knife out of her cutting board. "None of us have a choice. A former comrade of mine, Dimitri Peshkov, turned up not too long ago. Not the first time he's done so either, though the last time was about five years ago, testing Victoria for any signs of magical aptitude..." After a pause she rapidly sliced the carrot in a blur, each slice exactly as thick as the one before it, before she continued. "Anyway, this time was more of a social visit. He thought I should be made aware of exactly who my daughter was dating. There was also mention of him trying to get you and Victoria to relocate to Moscow."
  21. Aid-another: 1d20+8=22, the man-cat just picked up a +2 defense against BK3 on his turn.

Bracing herself, Wisp threw a second, slightly less powerful burst of crackling blue and black energy at Rodrigo. When it connected, the dented and malformed helmet was knocked clean off the boy's head revealing his face, including the bloody nose and what was sure to become an impressive black eye. Faced with her handiwork, the white-haired young woman winced. Turning to the others she said in a voice that would not carry far. "Okay, medical treatment time. Galanta, do me a favor and grab Serge. Subito, can you hold up your cousin? I'm taking us directly to Claremont's nurse's office."
  23. Smiling, Kyle picked up the paper bags. "Not terribly long. Besides, with a nice heavy coat you can barely notice the chill." He moved around to the back, placing his bags next to Megan's bakery bags filled with boxes of diabetically delicious goodies. Climbing into the passenger seat, he unbuttoned his coat to allow the heater to hit his chest easier. The heavy leather slide across a black dress shirt that worked well with the black sneakers and blue jeans he was wearing. After a brief look around the interior he deadpanned, "It's moments like this I regret not getting a driver's license. This car is probably bigger than my first apartment."
  24. 1d20+10=24, another blast, this time only at DC 27.
  25. "I said the same thing when I got my first car. Then came the parallel parking," she responded. "That said, the way you handled the Benz on the way home from our first proper date, I can believe it." Pulling Kristin's back against her front after another twirl, one hand holding the younger woman's while her free hand rested briefly on her hip, she gave a somewhat embarrassed shrug and said softly, "A little. My talents are mostly in the area of making things that go boom or computer security, not so much leading in a ballroom dance."
