Sunday, January 20th, 2013 6pm Kyle stood on the curb just outside his apartment building, a pair of paper shopping bags at his feet. The light breeze caught his duster's hem, pulling it off to the side as he checked the time on his phone. Since he had it in his hand, he dialed his friend Mack's phone number. Two rings later his former teammate picked up, "Hey man. Just waiting on my ride. Yes I have the drinks. And the salads the girls asked be added to the menu." Spotting a red BMW SUV slowing down he added, "Okay, see ya in about twenty."

Kyle stood off to the side, pulling out his phone while Dave moved to cover the cover art. "I'll be up in a second, text from Lenny back at the office," he lied as he started thumbing away at the keyboard, as if to return a message. Once Dave was out of the way, Kyle maintained a quiet vigil on the out of place trio. While his instincts screamed that they were up to something, and his Hunger thought the big one might have some sort of power to make a 'meal' out of, he knew he could not just stroll up and start taking nibbles of their life force without cause.

Grimacing as she heard the noises of the neighbors she charged in again. God damnit, she mentally grumbled as Galanta joined in on the attack after calling out her name. Taking a deep breath she focused on the strength enhancing properties of her energy control while reaching inside herself to call up her teleportation powers. As she unleashed the latter in a flurry of kicks, elbow and knee strikes, smoke erupted around her with each short 'poof' as she moved around the blue armored Rodrigo. Returning not far from the other girl she whispered in a rushed voice, "No names. Secret identities and all."

Silver Spider gave a little jump from her perch on the ceiling, allowing the sensation of her graviton manipulation to cease. Standing near the overdosed basketball star she said, "I can't promise anything, since I'm not involved with the district attorney's office, but they'll likely cut you some kind of deal if you know anything about where the drugs you've been using come from. Granted, one condition may involve repair costs for this little incident..." After that she turned to the rest of his crew. No, accessories to a criminal act. Looking at the lawyer she raised her arm, "Do I need to apply a fresh round of webbing or will everyone go peacefully with the officers?"

"On the subject of identifying cars," Jen started as the stepped onto the dance floor, "Did you narrow down any of the categories for when we start the car shopping in earnest? I am of course obliged to suggest your first car be something used." Leading Kristin as they danced she added with a wry grin, "Learn from my experience on this one, you'll love and and won't be able to believe you have it but you are going to put some dings in it." As they moved as gracefully as could be expected, she pulled her date closer and whispered, "I hope there aren't any complaints on your end, it's been a while since I did much dancing..." Kristin could not be sure but it sounded like Jennifer was almost as nervous as she had been on their first date.

Vicky's mother looked out from the kitchen, eying the hand clasping her husband's. "Nice trick with that knife. Though if you're going to pull one, you can come in and help me chop vegetables," she said without a hint of a Russian accent in her voice. Teleporting into the kitchen herself, the younger of the white-haired women gathered from the cupboards plates, glasses, and silverware, "I'll set the table," she added before poofing again to move a total distance of roughly ten feet. With Vicky out of the kitchen and the younger couple's bags sitting by the foot of the stairs, Natasha spoke quietly after passing over a few potatoes and taking some carrots for her own section of counter, "I just need those cut into quarters. If you're quick with that, you can slice the meatloaf." Then her next words were spoken just as casually, "So, you're Morrigan's boy?"

Not for nothin' SC but... When did Heraldo make his way into the shop?

Kyle eyed the trio of rough looking men, guys who looked like some of the Max abusing muggers he too often faced off against while patrolling at night. Thinking quickly of a way to follow without making Dave suspicious, he pulled out the schedule and turned to the map. Luck seemed to be on his side, "Dave, the preview of the new fantasy series from Mercedes Lackey down that way in about ten minutes. Let's get you in there for the unveiling of the cover art." Giving the other man minimal time to argue, he started moving down the same path the other three had taken, chatting to distract his cameraman.

From her vantage point on the ceiling, the aracnid-themed heroin watched in astonishment as the drugs overtook Coby Tower's conscious control and started working overtime. As he vibrated hard enough to splinter through first one floor and then start on a second. Cursing to herself she called over to the two mall cops, "Hey! You guys might want to call for an ambulance! Make sure they have the equipment to treat an overdose of a Whizz/Max cocktail." Turning her attention back to the out of control addict, she sprayed the man down in a thick wash of synthetic webbing, layering the fluid on thick enough that his vibrating would not be able to shred it as quickly as her last attempt. She hoped the fact she was padding him down also would keep him from shattering another floor and possibly injuring any civilians under them.

In that case, make the first attack a snare and if he saves or is only entangled, she'll do a single use of EE to surge and snare him again.

Taking the break in his job, he quickly typed back a reply to Megan. Memories from the other night flooding into his mind after reading her message. Putting his smartphone back into his duster's pocket he made sure to set the device to vibrate. He liked talking with Megan but having your cellphone go off mid-interview was just bad for the image of 'serious reporter' he was trying to maintain.

Looking over the schedule he noticed aside from the previously mentioned best-selling children's author he noticed that the hosts of Writing Excuses were going to be there as well. "Okay, we've got two places we need stop. I see Penguin and Scholastic have their announcements around two and two-thirty respectively, a costume contest at three," Kyle rattled off, somewhat interested. He followed as Dave lead, showing where the first booths had set up, the pair getting interviews and excellent pictures from the people in the merchant's hall and the more photogenic cos-players.

1d20+8=9 yeah no, even prone that won't work. 1d20+8=22 Out of HP... 1d20+8=23 again for a trip attack (again, worse of Str and Dex). If he fails, Silver's going to perform an some Extraordinary Effort to Surge an attack and use her snare again 1d20+8=17. If he doesn't, disregard this.

As she walked with Caranas she shrugged, "Maybe. Though with the materialism and greed running rampant on my planet, I'm sure any plans to mass market them would be met with massive roadblocks." Wisp barely kept her jaw from dropping. She had expected to feel, well, something when the ship moved out of orbit but there had not even been the slightest notion of it. Shaking herself from her shock she held up the tablet and snapped a quick full-body photo of her temporary roommate. "For reference," she said as she started to explain, "After bringing up the John Carter series, I've got an idea and part of it involves a Lor uniform and some wear and tear after surviving on an untamed planet."

Victoria watched her friend and his cousin, staying out of their business as much as possible until the latter's voice began to rise. When the blue armor slid up his arm to cover Rodrigo's body she gasped, then did a double take as Subito was thrown clear across the court, slamming into Serge and knocking the boy into a post in the chainlink. The smaller boy slumped unconscious without a word. Acting on pure instinct, the teleporter gathered some of her own blue power into her right hand. "Now that wasn't very nice!" she yelled, throwing it at his face while jumping between Subito and his attacker.

Shaking hands with Dave he couldn't help but look around in admitted awe at the crowd and the people dressed up like their favorite literary characters. As has been the case for years, Hogwarts students were popular, though Hufflepuff house seemed underrepresented. Dozens of men and women in dusters, not terribly unlike the one he'd kept after his trip from Earth Victoriana and was wearing now, carried lengths of carved wood and milled around with people who wore white plastic-looking armor or carried lightsabers. Glancing back at his compatriot he shrugged and started rummaging in his pockets for his recorder, "Anywhere in particular you want to start Dave? By the way, I don't suppose you snagged a copy of the schedule?"

Handing her empty glass to a passing waiter she smiled at her girlfriend after catching her eye roll, "Sorry Gorgeous, I'm a gear head. You knew that when we started dating and you've seen the Top Gear DVDs in my living room." Indicating her own shoes with their low heels, chosen as much to match her dress as keep her from towering over her date any further than she did in flats, she added, "I'm used to a few inches more under my heel so perhaps. But even in these I can handle a few songs out on the dance floor." Offering her arm she bowed slightly, "Shall we my dear?"

Silver Spider often patrolled through the Fens, and tonight was no different. Especially when she heard the police calling for backup through her earpiece. Swinging by one of the trains moving through the waterfront towards the area. Clinging to the top of a boxcar she was there in just a few minutes. She had of course arrived just in time to watch an acquaintance and hero she had worked with previously punch a man wearing a biker gang's colors in the face and follow it up by unleashing a blast that ripped through his chest. Revulsion twisted the woman's stomach as she swung into range, landing on a nearby rooftop's ledge. Unable to make herself say anything, she quietly fired a quick burst of web-fluid in hopes of gumming up his lenses and keeping him from going any further over the line between hero and vigilante.
