  1. After watching the seven pin start to wobble again on its own before rolling to knock over the ten. Turning around slowly, Jennifer eyed Kristin and her obviously false innocence then she raised an eyebrow at her Australian companion. After drawing out the silence as she moved closer before she leaned in and whispered, "So now, which of us is the sneaky one?" Kristin's reply was cutoff however by Jen leaning down and giving the shorter woman a kiss, melting in the moment after not having participated in the act for several years.
  2. The rest of the first game progressed in a similar fashion, Jennifer and Kristin remaining neck and neck until an unfortunate gutter ball left Jen several points behind, allowing Kris to capture the first win. In the second game however a well placed turkey and a few spares allowed Jen to claim victory. The last game, the girls matched each other almost perfectly frame after frame. Finally in the last frame, they had tied scores and the younger of the pair had just scored a combined total of nine pins. Jen moved to take her turn, butterflies fluttering in her stomach with each step. Her form was near perfect, the angle of her hook taking the ball right into the sweet spot of the pins. And when the pins settled, two remained in a fitting bookend to the start of the night. Attempting to finish the spare however the second ball's placement was just off enough to merely cause the seven pin to wobble but remain upright, never mind hitting the ten pin. "Well... That's disappointing."
  3. After finishing the small bit of the snacks she had been chewing on, Jen got to her feet and wiped the grease off her hand. "Not bad Kris, not bad at all," she said as they pass each other. Picking her ball up, she stood at her starting point and mentally lined up the shot. After a second she took five steps forward, releasing the ball as her hand came up over her head. The swirling pattern spun as the ball rolled down the lane in a bit of a hooked path, hitting the spot between the one and three pins. After the flurry of pins being knocked around, only the seven and ten pins remained. "Well..., that's not a good way to start," she said as her ball was spat out of the return. After rolling the ball a second time, she knocked the seven pin but was not even close to getting the ten with it. "Will you settle for matching?"
  4. "I'm glad you like it," she said, a bit of the nervous knot uncoiling itself from her stomach. Kristin got her opportunity to change Jen's name on the board after a minute or so of the black girl heading over to get some nachos, french fries, and a pair of sodas. Looking up upon her return she smirked, "Don't waste any time, do you?" After setting their goodies down on the table, Jen grabbed her bag and placed a smokey gray and black swirling ball on the ball return rack. Since she'd entered Kristin's name first, she sat back at the table and snagged a chip while she waited for her date to find a suitable ball.
  5. Full Action: Moving through the building, accelerated move.
  6. So, um, about those rolls SC?
  7. Jennifer returned the smile, "If that's an invitation, I would love to take a look at your collection. Mechanics is something of a hobby of mine. And while I do enjoy a good drive, I'm not on the level of, say, The Transporter. As for my car, normally I'd have come in my Tesla but I didn't put it on charge early enough." Squeezing Kristin's hand as their fingers locked, "Let them try, I don't have anything to hide." Taking a sip of half-empty flute of sparkling cider she added with a chuckle, "Well, except the things I had to sign non-disclosure agreements with the government to consult on."
  8. "I wish I was good enough to have scored a perfect game. The best I've ever managed was a 'clean game' and even then most of that was from getting spares." Glancing at her bag she shrugged, "Honestly, it's more that I got tired of trying to find a good ball off the 'house rack' and renting shoes." The pair were able to quickly reserve a lane, rent a pair of shoes for Kristin and set up the electronic displays. Kristin noticed the storms theme continued inside as well with the backdrop of the lanes designed to look like storming clouds, a flurry of snow, or a sandstorm depending on the lane. When a teen a few lanes further down threw a strike, a strobe light and sound effect like clapping thunder and howling rain emanated from the pin's resting area. "Before we start, want to get a soda and something to snack on?"
  9. Silver gave the police a quick wave of acknowledgement as they gathered up the hostages. She was about to say something to Starlight when the gold and white heroine had zoomed off. Not really sure what the plan was, she focused on the slight buzzing of her graviton alteration before she sprinted after the trail of light. As she moved through the halls, jumping from wall to wall as often as she ran across the linoleum flooring, she heard the sounds of a fight, arriving just in time to catch site of Asad grabbing hold of an OVERTHROW agent.
  10. Natasha looked the young man up and down with an appraising eye. After a second she smiled and said, her Russian accent thick, "Welcome to our home." Ushering them inside, the smell of freshly baked bread wafted from the kitchen mixing with the scent of the recently set up Christmas tree. The effect on Victoria was near instant, making her relax visibly. As her mother headed back for the kitchen she called out, "How was your flight?" Before Morgan had a chance to answer her however, Vicky spoke up. "Well, given we met at the Meta-Human High, there wasn't much of an issue with just using the 'poofs' to get in." Just as she finished, a cloud of smoke similar to her own appeared next to her. Arms reached out and pulled her into another hug before the smoke had a chance to dissipate. When it did, a man in his mid-forties with black hair graying slightly at the temples was setting Vicky back on her feet. He turned to Morgan and held out a hand, "John Knight. You must be Morgan."
  11. "Best of three sounds good," Jennifer said pulling up on a building covered in a mural of a variety of severe weather. A neon sign at the top proclaimed the business to be Tornado Allies. "It's a terrible pun but when your parents name you Stormy Weathers, it's almost required." As the doors rose, Jen reached into the back seat and grabbed a simple black bowling bag, "Well, worst case if there's trouble you can always lift the car, and us, out of danger." Walking up the stairs to the door, she looked over at Kristin, "So now, if you win you get to drive my car back... I think if I win, I get a kiss. Sound fair?"
  12. Ignoring the rib jab, Jennifer's hand slid down Kristin's back to rest on the small of her back as she began introductions, "And this lovely lady is my girlfriend, Kristin Jones." Jennifer nodded politely at Amir and Agnus, "Your reputation proceeds you Mr. al-Misri. Dad's shared some stories about the time you two raced prototypes for that Red Cross charity drive. Such a shame the schedule didn't line up so I could get in and take a look under the hood of your car." Her disappointment was clear in the last words and she mentally kicked herself away from her gear-head tendencies. After taking a sip from her sparkling cider she added, "Speaking of whom, I think he and mom are going to be a little late. They're making a stop in Boston on their way back from Rome to pick my sister up for the holidays."
  13. Jennifer lead the way over to the tree and the collection of donations. Placing the trio of bags at the base of the tree she could not help but overhear a somewhat familiar voice. "Ah, excellent, I was afraid she wouldn't be here tonight," the African-American scientist said quietly to her date. Taking a few steps over she stood a politely to the side for a second to slip into the conversation. As one of the wait staff passed, she requested a pair of sparkling cider flutes for herself and Kristin. Smiling she stepped closer, "Merry Christmas Megan. I was afraid we were going to miss you again this year."
  14. Looking between Wave-Eye and Temperance, Silver Spider ran the figures in her head. "Perhaps rather than sitting on your back, Temperance could whip up another chunk of ice for us to stand on while I supply the barge ropes? There is no way I would be able to make the trip in time to be of any help if I had to swing from building to building to get there." As she spoke, she was already letting out a slow stream of webbing from her wrists, twisting and braiding it into a makeshift rope.
  15. "I know how you feel, in my room at school if I tried to do any of my homework in bed I ended up either reading random articles on Wikipedia or watching videos on the internet," she said, setting the suit down on the foot of the bed before taking a seat next to it. "Well, several of the Terran heroes do. I mean, the Freedom League has their own satellite in orbit." Flopping back on the extremely comfortable bed she added, "I have to admit my first experience in space isn't exactly how I pictured it. After reading A Princess of Mars as a kid, I'd always expected any trip into space to include more swords and princesses in need of rescue but the journey has just begun. That said, I don't suppose there's an area with a good view that's also open to civilians?" Turning her head to look over at Caranas, "Say, I don't suppose we can hook one of those nanofabricators into my apartment when this is done? College, work, and heroing doesn't leave a lot of time for the little things like grocery shopping."
  16. "I'll see if there's anything in the bookstore, I think somebody once wrote a book about about dating heroes." After giving a contemplative sound she added, "I have a business thing in Washington on Friday so I'll have a few hours of plane ride so I'll rip through it then." "Sadly these guys only let the bumper rails go up if you have anyone under ten with you. Owner's policy," she said. And in my case, when I do as poorly as last time it's less gutter balls and more a failure to pick up a spare." Jen eyed her date for the evening, "What kind of challenge did you have in mind, pray tell? Low score pays for the next game?"
  17. Move action, back to the ceiling and out of goon reach. Standard, 1d20+8=10 Well that's not going to work, HP reroll 1d20+8=15+10=25. That should hit. And hopefully with the -4 dex from his current entangled condition the DC 18 will even stick...
  18. As the pair walked into the mansion, Jennifer's high heels clicking on the hardwood floor of the entry way, she replied, "Admit it, you loved it. Besides, a few hours of hair and makeup is easily balanced out by the rest of the day at the spa. And besides, the results speak for themselves, you wear black better than I do." Scanning the room, she spotted the well lit tree where dozens of bags containing donations were being collected. "First things first, put the gifts with the others then perhaps a few introductions? I think I saw a few of my father's friends by over there by the bar."
  19. "Probably for the best you hadn't, those guys looked pretty wobbly when the police brought them out," Jen replied. "Maybe it isn't a first date kind of action but to be fair, most of the protocols of which you speak were written by and intended for people who don't need to run into scenes like that to protect people and their property," she said. After a pause she added with a sly smirk, "Besides, I took off just as many clothes as you did to get into costume." "Given how I did last time I went bowling, you've got good odds of beating me. I barely broke one-hundred last time, so yes, please go easy on me," she said smiling.
  20. Jennifer Owens pulled her white Mercedes-Benz up behind the burgundy Vanquish, giving the leading vehicle an approving glance. With a bit of a smile to her companion for the evening, she glanced back at the sidewalk where photographers were clambering for the perfect shot of the right socialite. "Hounded by press, just like when we first met," she chuckled with a shake of her head, "At least this time they're being kept back a safe distance." After opening the doors to step out, she handed the valet her car's smart key before collecting a trio of shopping bags. They contained various new clothes and a few unwrapped toys. Rounding the car, she held the bags in one hand as she helped her date for the evening out of the passenger seat. As they walked up the short distance from the valet station to the gates where she opened the clutch, one that matched her blue dress perfectly, to produce the invitation that had been addressed to her. "Jennifer Owens," she said to the doorman, "And guest."
  21. Chicago, Illinois December 23, 7PM Snow drifted lazily down through the sky and through the street lights' illumination of nearly empty streets. The only disruption to the picturesque scene being the sudden appearance of cloud of red and white smoke appearing in the middle of one of the house's driveway. The shorter of the pair seemed to wobble for a minute before leaning against her companion in his very stylish coat. After a minute for the world to stop spinning, the white haired girl lead them up to the front door and rang the doorbell. Only a few second passed between the time Victoria had rung the bell and the door opened to an almost mirror image of the girl. The woman in the door practically screamed in delighted surprise before scooping the girl up in hug and speaking in Russian. "Glad to be home Mom," she said with a smile before waving over her companion, "Since I was coming home, I thought I'd bring somebody you and Dad would like to meet. This is Morgan Crowe, my boyfriend."

  23. Closing the comm link, Silver Spider stood a little straighter as she turned to address the crowd again. "Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please! I have received confirmation that it is safe to escort you all out the back of the building. Please stay behind me, stay close, and stay quiet." As people began lining up, the arachnid heroine leaned closer toward Starlight, and said in a quieter voice, "Would you mind following along and guarding our rear? The last thing we need are any surprises from behind."
  24. Smiling at her friend, she put the car in gear and started navigating the roads towards the bowling alley she usually frequented. "Well, the C&C Club isn't just some fancy restaurant, it's kind of like a country club for people like us. But, that said, why wouldn't somebody want to go out with you? Aside from tabloid 'journalists' claiming you were dating El Heraldo." Giving a slight chuckle of her own, "Nah, we just added a small extra layer of mess on top of what the religious zealots started. Besides, the exterior damage was fixed fairly quickly. Still, in all seriousness, I had fun on the way to the interruption and on the way back."
