"Fair point, and now I'm more than a little depressed, thanks," she said with a smirk, the weights still moving almost gracelessly through the air. "But now I have an idea for a new series when I get back to the drawing board. Plucky young heroes fighting against a robo-fascist and... I think I watched too much of that Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon as a kid," she commented, her face screwing up as she realized how derivative it sounded out loud. "Maybe I should stick to the cowboys and zombies." "From everything I've seen and heard and read about him, Centurion was the pinnacle of heroism and virtue, I really wish I could have met him."

Sounds good here.

Victoria Knight pulled the hood up on her hoodie and grumbled something unflattering about the weather in Russian to herself. She brushed under the hood a few strands of her snow-white hair as the wind came up around the crowd. The announcer's promise of drinks did brighten her spirits somewhat as she and her classmate stood in line. She recalled the short hand-to-hand sparring and the bet they'd made as she looked out the corner of her eye and around the sunglasses she habitually wore she commented with a small smile, "Thanks for coming Kristin. Sorry if that submission hold was a little much back in practice."

Thursday, Jan 5th, 2012 The crowd outside Fun Time Toy's main lobby had begun growing as the unveiling of their newest product line came closer. The company had managed to keep what exactly it was under wraps, using everything from harsh Non-Disclosure Agreements with their employees and contractors to false leaks declaring everything from a line of Freedom League action figures to working hoverboards. When the announcement had been opened to the public and not just to the press, demand and interest had spiked. The entry fee for the public had also included a gift basket with a random selection of the company's catalog. The speakers setup outside the entrance crackled to life. "Welcome ladies and gentlemen! Please step back from the doors and have your ticket ready. Our friendly staff will guide you to the exhibition hall where the new line as well as complementary donuts and drinks are being served," a male voice sounded over the chilled crowd.

TK, either will be fine though, just tell us which one you'll bring to the party and that'll close down the recruiting portion of our adventure with a final cast of Glow, Synth, Jube, Rev/YB, and Wisp. IC and OOC coming Soontm

So I linked this in the chat a few weeks back, mentioning it seems like something Toy Boy would cook up. So, here's the deal, the nice folks at the toy company have built something comparable and are unveiling it to the public. And, as this is Freedom City play by post and it'd be boring for it to go off without a hitch, the audience is shrunk down and dropped into the middle of the model. I'd like to get 3-5 people involved, preferably with an average PL between 9 and 12 but depending on interest that's flexible. Anyone up for some fun?

Kyle looked over his shoulder at Starlight and sighed, "Bugger it, you win." He made has way to the car, rolling his sleeves up, the breeze blowing the duster behind him as he walked. Looking inside the driver's seat he found the hood latch release and pulled it. Lifting the hood up he peered under and immediately wished he'd spent some time in Freedom U's mechanic's program. He didn't know much of what he was doing but he checked for loose connections and cracked hoses. Or at least tried too. As the jumble of parts and wires lay before him he wanted to start cursing his own mechanical ineptitude. "Cata, Star, either of you mechanically skilled by chance?"
-
Untrained knowledge: Mechanics check to identify what's up with the car. +1 for int = 4 total...

Kyle stepped off the zeppelin a few seconds behind Catalyst. "Just about," he muttered, adjusting the borrowed clothes. The duster was an almost perfect fit but the sleeves reached just a little too far down past his wrist. He was glad that the cowboy boots fit properly at least. "I feel like I should be quoting John Wayne." The ride had been fairly smooth and filled with some rather good poker hands on his end. Maybe not retirement money but certainly an extra month's rent. After being given the option of horses or the car he looked over, "I'm inclined to go with the car myself. Assuming it works."

"Yeah, my parents can take care of themselves but Crow takes his identity pretty seriously," she commented adding the fourth weight and nearly dropping one of them on her foot. "I'll be honest, I got the idea from watching far, far too many episodes of Bones over the summer. And you're right, given how much of The Dresden Files I've read I can't believe I didn't even think of that," she admitted, almost wishing she could slap herself in the forehead. "I was just thinking since Freedom's city council thankfully hasn't taken their Orwell multivitamins and chased it down with a big bowl of Big Brother Os, we don't have video cameras everywhere, despite nearly everyone having a camera in their cellphone." Continuing to juggle she smiled, "Great movie, I think that's part of why our hyper-litigious society hasn't brought many lawsuits against people like us. But yeah, some legal knowledge beyond a few dozen episodes of Law & Order couldn't hurt."

"I've considered the public identity route post-high school, the eyes and hair are pretty distinctive and make for a difficult secret identity. Though if did, I should see if Cole can rig up some sort of hologram projector," Vicky mused. Shaking her head she sighed, shaking her head as she rose to her feet, taking care not to knock over Mona's hand-sculpted Toto. "It is, mostly. The non-standard class list is a major help. I saw forensic sketching on the list, might not be a bad idea to sign up. Might be handy for the team to have a sketch artist, just in case." Looking around Wisp spotted a trio of baseball sized spheres each marked with a post-it noting the weight, one thousand pounds each. "You have a point," she said as she started juggling the balls.
-
"Good point," she commented before guzzling a large portion of her bottle. Twisting the cap back on she put the bottle on the floor next to the machine she'd started leaning against. "I was thinking a regular club, meeting up a couple times a month for friendly competition over junk food. You're right too, the Wii would be the best system for the casual, party type games. I've also seen some pretty good casual games for the PS3 like Little Big Planet 2." She gave Subito a chance to chime in while she adjusted the weights on the machine to have a resistance of multiple tons.
-
Seconded for Wisp. Depending how Little Big Trouble works out, Fulcrum and a couple Irregulars suddenly have a reason to be working together.
-
If there's room, I'd like to volunteer Wisp as a handy bit of muscle.

"Of course, of course," Vicky said, "Though all I had left was study hall, nobody really seems to care if you're there or not as long as you're quiet when you are." Stepping over to the bed she hefted it up with minimal effort, "Well, no time like the present. Sooner we get you moved in, the sooner I can delve into a book in study hall," she said with a small smile, the effort of holding onto the piece of furniture not even a little evident in her voice. Recalling the dots on Etain's illusionary map, focused her will and in a plume of her typical bi-colored smoke, she and the bed had vanished.

"Personally, I think I'd rather see Robin of Loxley and Rabbi Tuckman show up, if only because Patrick Stewart as King Richard would be bound to show up." "To which, I'm so glad I don't need to know how to add dylithium crystals into the flux capacitor to cause the matter/anti-matter reaction needed to induce teleportation, I just sort of do it," the younger girl said, trying to rattle off as much science fiction technobabble from pop-culture as she could recall. "Still, I do need to take some time and get some extra computer lessons in, if nothing else so that I can take of my own anti-virus needs." "It definitely has it's more boot camp moments. The minute I see the guy from Full Metal Jacket here though, I'm moving back to Chi-Town," she said with a grin. "Still, I've made some good friends here. Wouldn't trade it for the world."

Kyle had to keep himself from making a smartalek comment about a coffin shaped device that carried a risk of death. As he waited his turn he hummed quietly a bit of the song Building Steam. Once he stepped out into M's office it took him a second to regain his balance. He was less than thrilled at his host's proposition but relented after M's reply to Starlight's chilly comment. "I admit, I have some student loans that could be repaid with that kind of coin if the exchange rate is good but it isn't our place to act as agents beyond ensuring nobody blows up the planet."
-
"What about the Dread Pirate Westley?" Vicky asked, a small smirk playing across her lips. "It could be fun, true. I tried to pay attention when Cole explained how exactly he did it but after the first fifteen seconds it started sounding like Ancient Etruskan, a full minute in and my eyes started crossing. Super-science just isn't my field. I'll take my B- average in normal science and be happy about it." "Yes it is, it'd help getting to the really good places if I could go more than a few hundred yards at a time but that's still something I'm working on. I'll have to try out those statues sometime. Maybe next time I get permission from Mr. Summers to run an errand. If I sneak out, I'd rather not think about what further punishments await. Likely more training with Archer..."
-
Vicky eased her equipment back into place, "One second, I need some water." In a small plume of crimson and snowy smoke replaced her. Across the gym she grabbed a couple bottles of water from the student fridge and ported back, handing Subito the bottle she'd grabbed for him. "Well, I was thinking Left 4 Dead, Borderlands, or Team Fortress 2 type games. Casual cooperative type stuff. I am open to alternative ideas though. I'm sure a few people would rather just run some Rock Band or Guitar Hero type gatherings."
-
HP, noted. His powers are skin contact based (if it isn't on his sheet, I need to fix that...). Perhaps toss a power loss on for no tech powers.
-
"I see... No offense Starlight but I'd rather not use my powers on you should trouble break out. I don't think any of us would want me weakening part of our dynamic. We'll just have to hope that any trouble we do find has some super-powered flunkies I can copy powers from," he explained, breaking for a sip of tea. "You see, when I use my powers, it often causes lethargy in the subject. I once used my power against a petty criminal with wings. The wings I suddenly sprouted ruined my jacket and she passed out in midair. Barely kept hold of her before dropping her off at the nearest cop shop."

Kyle tensed at the thought of being used like some sort of mercenary wetwork agent. He relaxed a little when Lord Steam said it would be left to them to decide how to deal with the weapons in the alternate Texas. He did however feel that it wasn't his place to judge another world so long as peace was the prevailing condition. "Gambling and booze huh? Sounds like my 21st birthday in Vegas." Another question popped into Siphon's head as he listened. "Lord Steam," he started as he added a little sugar to his tea, "Just out of curiosity, how common are meta-humans in your dimension?" He looked a little uncomfortable under his mask but continued, "See, my powers are next to useless on non-powered folk."
