  1. Kyle watched Starlight's transformation from pretty young woman into a doppelganger of Lord Steam, "Very handy indeed." A part of him called out in his mind to find out what that ability felt like but a few seconds of concentration kept his less pleasant nature in check. Extending his hand and gently took Catalyst's in his own, "I go by Siphon," he replied, "It's a pleasure to meet you all." While Catalyst talked he helped himself to some tea and some of the snacks laid out. Last time he'd seen such a collection of hors d'oeuvres, he'd been attached to an art auction conducted by one of the city's bigger galleries. And even then they weren't this delicious. "Dimensional travel..., nothing's ever simple these days, is it?" he commented with a slight smirk.
  2. Vicky watched his workout increase in intensity and quirked an eyebrow at the flag-like billowing smoke. "Good to see I'm not the only one on campus with a good smoke effects budget," she commented, her smile evident in her tone. "As for the summoning of the Irregulars, I don't want to get your hopes up too high. We're still trying to fully jell as a team in our current state so, not to be rude my friend but, recruitment is currently closed. That said, should you ever need a hand, I'll be there," the young teleporter explained, trying her best to avoid sounding rude or to offend her fellow student. "So then, training aside, should we get some free time, how are you at first-person shooter games? I'm thinking of pulling together some folks for a video gaming group."
  3. Kyle slipped out of his overcoat, folding it over his arm before he removed his fedora and followed the butler and the woman in the odd yellow suit. He had to keep himself from swiveling his head at everything in the room. The food and tea spread out left his stomach all but growling. At the offered cigarette he raised a hand in polite declination, "No thanks. I never cared for the stuff, too many toxins packed into one little thing you set on fire and then put in your face." He glanced at the third member of their gathering. He did find the fact she was in what looked like a HazMat suit kind of odd but he'd covered enough heroes since getting his journalism degree to let it go without much worry, "She raises a valid point. I might not have been on that particular rooftop where you left the invitation."
  4. Kyle tapped the small invitation against his palm as his cab approached the gates of Steam Manor. He had noted the dress comment and found himself in a dark grey suit, hunter green dress shirt, a tie the same shade as his suit, and a pair of black shoes under a black winter overcoat and fedora. Reaching into his pocket he drew out his wallet to pay the driver, "Thanks," he glanced at the license displayed on the separator between front and back seats while passing the money forward, "Iwan. Keep the change." Stepping into the December air, he mused to himself that at times like this, he wished his powers included some sort of super-human movement, flight especially. After dealing with a crook a few nights previous who had such an ability he'd reveled in the freedom, until nearly crashing into the river when the energy he'd siphoned away gave out. Once the cab drove off he reached into one of the larger pockets and pulled out his mask, well, the one that matched the shirt he currently wore. One of several he'd picked up since starting to patrol his neighborhood. He checked his smartphone as he began the walk up the long driveway and saw he was just on time. Reaching the door he knocked on the door and awaited an answer.

  7. "Pretty sure you just put your hand on the top of his head and shove him into the ground, a plus of making Andre the Giant seem vertically challenged eh?" "Actually, one of my classmates actually made something comparable to a lightsaber," Vicky commented as she stretched, "Cole never got the power supply working right so we never put the toy through it's paces. For all either of us know, all it does is emit a harmless purple beam of light." "True enough," she smiled just as warmly. "It may have counted as trespassing but before being 'grounded' I used to like teleporting up to the highest roof I could get up to downtown and sketch."
  8. Yeah, sorry, life's been a pain this past week. I'll get something up soon.

    Moving Day (IC)

Vicky's eyes gleamed and the wheels could almost be seen turning behind them. Pulling the first load close she commented, "I picked up an interesting book from my favorite game shop, at least my favorite in this time zone. Anyway, it's a set of rules for three-dimensional chess. Heavily Tolkein influenced but if you're interested, I could use somebody to learn how to play this variant with." The young teleporter silently hoped Etain would accept, she certainly wanted to get some more bonding time with the pretty illusionist that didn't involve beating up villains.
  10. "Other way around but yes, that'd be them," Vicky corrected, "And yeah, I can see why he'd want you to stay on campus. Before coming here I did a small bit of patrolling around my neighborhood in Chicago but... well after spending some time here I see I'm lucky to have avoided a bullet." "Well, I can see if I give you some lessons. I can't promise I'm a great teacher but I do heal fast so if you do end up losing control of your attacks, I can probably recover quickly. Sometime after Halloween, let's see if you, myself, and some of my group can do some extra combat basics."
  11. "Indeed it can be," Vicky said, letting the topic go with that. She really, really didn't feel like going into the details of her parents old jobs for the CIA and KGB. "Credit where credit is due, the forty-five seconds he took on Dooku by himself and seemed to be almost holding his own was pretty good. Of course after that, calling him 'stumpy' would be totally justified if we're looking to mock him to death." "Actually, in '99, I was five. And living in Chicago," she said with a slight smile, "The news wasn't a big part of my life back then." "Two years ago, if you told me I'd be sitting in Jersey, watching a woman bend a hunk of metal into a sculpture of Toto and discussing cartoons and movie villains jumping off the screen, I'd have called the men with little white coats. Where did my life make that sharp left into weirdness?" she said with mock seriousness before giving a slight laugh, "Of course, I wouldn't change a second of it."
  12. "All three of her," Vicky confirmed. "Few things since my 'breakthrough', for lack of a better term, have been as odd as that little trip to Tian." "Well, there's a reason Crow lived with his father in Boston before he made his way to the school. And oh yeah," she said, drawing the oh out few a few seconds, "That possibility has crossed my mind, though I'm pretty sure my parents would rank fairly high in their own right. Long story," she sighed, her hand coming to pinch the bridge of her nose. "Fair point, fair point. Though, if we end up in a scenario where movie villains jump off the screen, she'd probably be the least of our problems. I'd be more worried about, say, A New Hope/Empire Strikes Back-era Vader showing up."
  13. The thief brushed off the attack and sneered at his would-be opponent. "You think you can defeat me? With my own powers?" He rushed Siphon, his right fist curled and flying right at the other man's face. With a resounding thud the blow connected and almost took the slightly older power-thief from his feet with the power behind it. Pulling his hand back there was a small bit of blood on his knuckles from where he'd busted Kyle's lip. "This store is a sin against God and all upstanding white men everywhere, selling the homosexual agenda to anyone who steps through these doors!" he called, his eyes wide with maniacal fanaticism.
  14. While the robber was still moving, mildly disoriented from being struck in the back, Siphon used the stolen powers and turned them back against his foe. Unearthly green and black flames rushed from his open right hand and right into the other man's face. Instead of the desired effect of knocking the foe to the ground however, the thug rolled with the rushing fire and stood again, none the worse for wear. "Well..., that's just not fair," Siphon muttered in a faintly hollow voice, his mind already rushing to think of his next move.
  15. Siphon's round: Move action: Fast bluff, 1d20+5=19+1 for typo=20 Standard action: All-out, power atk Hellfire blast, 1d20+7=13 Thug's saves: Vs Bluff: 1d20+8=15 Vs Blast 1d20+7=26 ___________ Thug's action: Punch Siphon, 1d20+7=21 DC 20 tough Siphon's save, 1d20+6=16 Bruised 1
  16. "I think you'd make a good one," Vicky said, leaning back against the rock, "I know I feel better getting this out." She returned the giantess' fist bump, "Good times. And I think he is, his mom is a little creepy but what do you expect from The Morrigan?" "It was mostly a picture and autograph signing thing. Guess it was her way of giving back to the community. I've still got the little action figure she conjured that looked like what I did at the time. Don't know if she still has the sketch I scribbled out of her though." The young teleporter watched Mona work the metal into a fairly lifelike metallic version of Dorothy's little dog. Eying the older hero Vicky said, "If a crazy green chick shows up, riding a broomstick, and cackling about wanting your little dog too, can we beat her senseless with it before dumping a bottle of Evian on her?"
  17. "Yeah, that's the name we came up with. The obvious ones like Young Freedom were taken and Junior Freedom just didn't sound right. Besides, we've got a fairly odd group. A mortal Runemaster, a guy who creates weapons out of nowhere just by thinking about them, an illusionist, an energy blaster who can stop bullets with his force field, and the resident teleporter/strong girl," Vicky commented as she settled down and set the weights for a light slow start. Before long she felt the burn of muscles waking up in her legs, "How 'bout you? Any other students you've been thinking of forming a team with?"
  18. Kyle pulled the mask he'd picked up a few days previous from his overcoat's pocket and slipped it on quickly. Once secured he watched and while the robber had his back to the door, Kyle, or Siphon as he thought of himself when he was about to feed, slipped in the front. He breathed a silent prayer of thanks to the punk for damaging the security system's keybox. It meant the police would probably be on their way. In an instant Siphon was directly behind the bald thug, noticing how many swastika tattoos on the man's scalp there were he felt no remorse as he lashed out a faintly silver hand and clamped onto the back of the piece of white trash's head. Faint traces of silver moved under his skin and up to and past his wrist for a few seconds but it didn't seem to phase the thug at all.
  19. Using the stats for the Demon from Instant Superheroes at PL 7. Surprise round, Kyle's going to try and sneak in... 20. GM Inside the shop a young man, couldn't have been older than twenty-one stood brandishing a fist at the two men huddled behind the counter. Over one shoulder he held a bulging backpack poorly closed, several greenbacks sticking out where he'd hastily zipped the bag closed. The fist he held up was surrounded by sickly green flames as he pointed towards one of the men. The glass was too thick for his words to come out but his body language spoke volumes, 'do what I say or bad things will happen'.
  21. Saturday, November 12th 11:50pm Kyle Conners kept a quick pace as he made his way back to his apartment. He'd just dropped his story on the upcoming renovation to one of the city's older buildings, once a speakeasy back in the 1920s, into a microbrewery and the protests some of the community that was due the next morning off at the Ledger's office. He'd stepped off the monorail platform several blocks from his home just in time for his hunger to begin making it's presence known. His recently emerged powers were telling him that they wanted to be used. He was just passing the bookstore owned by the gay couple who happened to live down the hall from him when he noticed through the large front window the lights were on.

"I may have to make a stop over there sometime. And keep one on your Christmas list, who knows, Santa and his elves may bring some gifts by for the Irregulars in a couple months. Most of us have been pretty good. I know there's a queen in the Fae realms that might disagree but from my eyes, that just means John's getting a bigger gift." "Well, with any luck you'll get less trouble than my mother did when she emigrated from Moscow. Then again, that was during the Cold War," Vicky half muttered towards the end. Vicky nodded at the map. It'd been several months since she'd been to Parkhurst and the refresher was actually fairly helpful. "Neat trick," she commented with a smile, "Can you make a chess board like that?"
  23. "Not really, otherwise I'm pretty sure we'd have seen Pirate versus Ninja, just to shut the fans up," Vicky smirked. "There is this fun show I ran across on the internet with a similar premise but it's mostly limited to fictional characters except for the one they did that put Justin Beiber and Rebecca Black in a death battle." The teleporter replaced the weights and moved the the leg lift machine across from where she and Subito had been working out, "I haven't met him personally but from all accounts from the folks here who have, he sounds like it."

    Moving Day (IC)

"Yeah, I've been pouring more time into the various comics and other art projects I'm involved in to fill the suddenly empty hours," Vicky sighed, leaning against one of the headboard's corner posts, her smile gone. "Craptastic timing, Janis, my dormmate, she's been all but a ghost around the room too. Feels like how things were back home," she muttered. "Actually was just looking for a recommendation," she clarified glancing at the shelf. "I'm thinking of looking for something in Russian, I get plenty of verbal practice but I've let my Cyrillic slip a little." Letting out a contemplative sound the teleporter nodded, "Hmm, yeah, that could be a problem."
