Just behind Jeena a plume of white and crimson smoke appeared, dispersing to reveal a woman dressed in a pair of carpenter's jeans and an old stained white t-shirt. "Hope I'm not too late. Got lost in a bit of writing," Victoria said as she waved casually to the assembled masses. She scanned over the piled materials and the rest of the building crew. Well, at least we're unlikely to have Voodoo zombies show up in the middle of building this, she thought to herself. Pulling her long white hair back and securing it with a scrunchie she nodded to herself. "Say when you need something heavy moved. Or if anyone needs a drink fetched." At Gwen's direction to begin digging, Vicky took a trick she'd tried in Haiti and began teleporting 500lbs of dirt from the directed area at a time. "Seems Archer's training is paying off. This is twice what I used to be able to drag with me."

Vicky watched the exchange between Jeena and Gwen, her artist's eye taking note of small details as she walked over. "I feel your pain," she said, "Shortly after my powers emerged, I had to start wearing dark sunglasses all the time. If I didn't, people started screaming about demons and hellspawn and so on and so forth. Thankfully, there aren't many torches and pitchforks in Chicago." She tried for flippant but her voice betrayed that she remembered an old hurt when she remembered the first time she'd stopped to help a stranger and her sunglasses had slipped. Shaking her head as if to throw the memory out of her mind, she brightened and nodded at the other girls joined by a vine, "Wish I had a sketchpad and pencil with me, this would make an awesome piece for my portfolio."

"It's a style of animation from Japan, it spans pretty much every genre you can think of from Science-Fiction and Fantasy to Romantic Comedies," the white haired girl explain. A minute or so later she had remained silent during Zach and Morgan's exchange but as they finished she spoke up, "I've found that most bullies, short of super-powered megalomaniacs, will cut their crap if you can plant them on their ass even once. I don't go looking for fights but if one starts, I finish it. Though, when possible, I look for non-violent ways, like dumping the aggressor a couple hundred yards away."

Well, shotgun blasts are really, really loud. Even in an open space. I'm going to assume the Notice check DC is pretty low 1d20+14=29. Wisp's going to send herself to the idiot who just fired the boomstick and push his nose in for him. 1d20+13=28, that'll be a DC 22 toughness save. And thanks to Turnabout, she's going to scoop up Jube and end up far away from the boomstick guy, say out at the circle with Blueshift. If you feel that's abusing Turnabout, I'm willing blow an HP for the extra action to get Jube to safety.

I'm fine with it.

We also need to have Wisp drop by his space in the Lab for those teleport tests. ...As soon as I nail down how it works exactly myself.
-
Well, Wisp did spend her spring break helping build homes in Haiti. And can also benchpress a locomotive. Tall however, she ain't.

Vicky appeared in the air a few feet over the ground just a couple minutes early. Flipping forward once she landed in a crouch, one arm behind her, the other balled in a fist before her pressed into the grass. "Good afternoon Mona. I hope I'm not late. I was just finishing a project I was working on," she said rising to her full five foot height. She was barefoot though her other training clothes, baggy black pants and a tight purple tank top, were in place. She'd skipped the mask given the heat of the day. Her eyes, ruby points in pools of inky black, darted around looking at the objects in field. "Wowza, when you said tossing tons around, you weren't joking."

"I'm with Gwen on this, I was picked on a lot back in Chicago. Before my powers manifested, I was the dumpy geek-girl that was the target of nearly every third prank in my school. The final straw broke when the cheer squad tried to spray me, and more a backpack full of irreplaceable drawings I'd done, with paint. Let's just say I didn't take it laying down," she explained. Vicky watched the display between Gwen and Jeena, though she thought it best to stay on the sidelines and let the other girls work out their differences. A few minutes later the two sitting together eating made her breath a sigh of relief. "Well, there's several school clubs. I'm part of the anime, gaming, and art clubs. I'll try and get you three," she said nodding towards his sister and Gwen, "A listing of the clubs. Meanwhile, there's a lounge in the basement of the dorms and a common room on each floor. Then there's the library. After lunch, there shall be a tour. I promise."

The Jade Arenas of Heaven: Shock the Monkey [OOC]
Azuth65 replied to trollthumper's topic in Archives
Notice: 1d20+14=33 Attack: Power attacking -3 atk/ +3 DC. 1d20+13=32 HP to heroic feat Improved Crit... Concealment 11-20: 1d20=13 So, Lacuna needs a 15 (base) + 10 (Unarmed) + 3 (Autofire) + 5 (Crit) = DC 32 toughness save. Ouch. -
Wisp didn't need to be told twice. She grabbed as many papers as she could, which given her mobility was nearly all of them. In one last plume of smoke she appeared behind Glowstar and Changeling. Grabbing her boyfriend's roommate at the wrist she called up her will and suddenly the three of them where on the sidewalk back at street level. "Okay, get flying Glow. I'll make with the 'ports and see you back at the lab." True to her word, she'd made it back to the labs first, albeit barely. She'd gotten more than a few odd looks from passers by and a withering gaze from a guard as she made her way back to the doctor, arms loaded down with Goanna's research notes. "Doc, we weren't exactly sure what was relevant so we kinda grabbed everything."

Vicky had just finished one of the burgers, the massive amount of calories already making her feel less tired. She'd just finished piling lettuce and tomato onto her second when she heard the fight starting behind her. Sighing she turned around and eyed the instigators. When she spoke, she let her Russian accent seep thickly into her voice. "Put him down. Or Tiny," she said indicating the now towering Jeena, "And I break you." Vicky had no intention of actually fighting the young man but she despised bullies and if the boy started anything, her plan was primarily to taunt him and teleport away from him every time he'd get close. Or grab him and deposit him outside.
-
Vicky blanched, "Oh my God, I'm sorry. My name's Victoria Knight, though I usually go by Vicky." She pulled her sunglasses off and met Zach's eyes for a moment, noting the twin's eyes and feeling a slight stab of nostalgia for her old eye coloration. Once Gwen had left the pack to go forage for food, Vicky couldn't help but check out her legs as she all but ran towards the food before snapping back to the conversation at hand. "I'm with her. Archer started my workout with teleport-laps. I need calories and carbs," she said, her stomach growling in agreement. In a short poof she was next to Gwen grabbing some fruits and veggies before ordering three bacon cheeseburgers and a sausage pizza. Again she used her powers to 'jump' from the end of the line to the table Gwen had selected. "Feed me Seymour, feed me," she half-growled trying to impersonate the plant from Little Shop of Horrors.

1d20+7=fail, yeah, HP time. 1d20+7=8 +10 = 18. Bruised and stunned is better than stunned and staggered...
-
Vicky shrugged at Gwen. "Yeah, sorry. I took a little too long choosing between this and my Mars University shirt," she said indicating her shirt. She held the door for the new girl and once she was through, teleported over towards the rest of the assembled teens, her cloud of bi-colored smoke quickly dissipating around her. Pulling a red scrunchy the same shade of red as her eyes from her pocket and pulling her hair back she said, "Sorry we're late. I just couldn't do a thing with my hair." Noticing the new guy in the group she smiled and inclined her head at about the same time Gwen curtsied. "Nice to meet you Zach. So, anyone else hungry?"

If I'd planned better for this to shift from Social to Mystery, that would work so much better. Give me a couple days to come up with something if you want to keep it going, otherwise Rene telling the curator to do what he can to find the painting and good things will happen seems a decent place to wrap it for now.
-
Wisp looked up from her own pile of papers, a few Russian curses having already left her lips as she searched. She was scanning pages hoping to find something almost painfully obvious as a header as the actual notes made her head hurt. "You know, it might not be a horrible idea to just gather up everything and get it to the 'squints' back at ASTRO," she stated, "Goanna's little floating lab isn't exactly stable and unless one of you is hiding a PhD in genetics, they'd probably be able to figure out what his notes are better than the three of us could."
-
"нет проблем," she replied in easy Russian. At his blank look she translated, "No problem." Vicky nodded, glad Morgan was getting to the point. She'd expected this for a while, given her relationship with Morgan and all. "Brian does raise a good point, though I think Headmaster Summers might let us resume patrols if we did so as a team. Probably with continued training with Mr. Archer," she said as she rested her head on her boyfriend's shoulder, her snow white hair falling across her eyes.
-
Vicky smiled slightly, "I admit, I enjoy the actual teleporting. I just had to do that to you once to help cement in that Claremont is a sanctum for the strange. That done, I'll try and hold myself back in the future." Pulling her hair back in loose ponytail she listened to Gwen, "I could," she started, "But you have this look on your face like you'd rather sit through a Justin Bieber concert than try it. I understand completely." With that she started walking with Gwen to the elevator and pushed the call button before leaning against the wall.
-
"Oh trust me, I have no intention of touching the painting," Vicky said, putting her hands behind her back and taking a step back as the security guard eyed them. "Like I said, monsters, dangers, quests... Not how I planned on spending what's left of my summer vacation." She moved to a nearby, and handily empty bench and sat, massaging her temples. "I guess finding the curator for this exhibit would be a good start. Seeing if he or she knows anything that the folks who selected it didn't want being put out on display with the painting itself."
-
"No, never been but my mother was born and raised in Moscow," Vicky explained, "My parents raised me in a bi-lingual household. It came in handy back when I played soccer. I shared just enough of the language with the team so that when we did our pre-game cries in Russian, it freaked our opponents out. Cheap but effective." "She certainly looks like me," she half muttered. "And I'll be honest, I have this horrible sinking feeling that if I touched it or even look at this one too long I'll end up whisked off to a parallel universe full of magic and monsters, dragons and necromancers, and probably a lengthy, deadly quest to get back home. That's how it usually works if I know my tropes." Even still, she felt inspired by the warrior-wizardess version of herself in the painting. Her imagination began to build steam in the back of her mind.

Vicky opened the door to her dorm, half expecting to find Janis at her desk watching an episode of Top Gear on the computer but instead the room was empty. "Guess I'll have to make introductions later," she said to herself as she teleported out of her workout clothes, slipped into her robe, grabbed shower caddy and towel then teleported right to the ladies room for the floor. Fifteen minutes later, between her regenerative abilities and the hot shower, she felt good as new. She'd changed into a pair of her hip hugging jeans and one of her shirts pulled from the ever expanding collection of geek clothing. New white and black sunglasses in place she was just about to head out when she heard Gwen knocking on the door. Rather than answer, she simply teleported behind the florepath, tapped her on the shoulder and smiled, "You knocked?"

"Rae's expressed interest in the gamer club, not sure how serious she is about joining but she's asked about it. Maybe I can put in a good word for you that way," she replied, obviously enjoying both the chance to tease Brian and play match maker. As he John spoke, the cheerful smile fell from her face. "John, I know I've said it before but I want to say it again. I'm sorry man," Vicky said, her head bowed as she spoke. "I'm still having trouble controlling those energy blasts that started about the time you guys come to rescue me. It's getting better but still..."
-
"That's a really good question," Wisp admitted. She had no real clue how it worked, if she tore realty a new hole every time she teleported or if each time he conscious mind was sent to a new body while her leaving form was broken down into smoke. Stop it, you're thinking too hard on this. It works, that's what really matters. "If I had anything more than a smidgen of knowledge of the arcane, I'd say 'magic' and rest on that. But, I don't. I dunno, maybe sometime I can drop by the lab and we can try some tests?"
