  1. "It's hard to explain. I just kind of think about it and poof, a couple clouds of multi-colored smoke I'm there. Granted I can only get a couple hundred yards out of one jump but short of being Johnny Rocket, how many people can move across three football fields in seconds?" Wisp explained, trying her best to answer honestly and informatively. "I can say for the split second I'm removed from reality, it's like stepping through a bead curtain that's been left where a could wind could keep it chilled."
  2. When Glowstar's attempts to reach Goanna failed, which didn't surprise Wisp in the slightest given his state of mind, she called out to the surrounding area again, looking for more power and gathering it. Her eyes flared as a second blast, less controlled looking but equally more dangerous shot from her hand to streak towards the former scientist's ribs, connecting with an audible pop of energy. As the energy finished washing over his body, his reptilian eyes rolled up into the back of his head. She let of a sigh of relief, "Okay... Glad that worked."
  3. Wisp's going to try the energy to face trick again, only harder. Power attacking -5 atk/+5 DC. 1d20+3=21 Goanna needs a DC 32 toughness save.
  4. Vicky let out a choking sound, "Oh God no," she spurted in Russian. Switching back to English she tried again, "Sorry. No, I'm not that old. If I was, do you think I'd still be in highschool? I'd be coasting on a massive bank account backed by a substantial amount of leftover gold coins and antiquities." In a much lower voice she half said, still staring at the painting, "Still, they even got the eyes right..." Indeed, the eyes of the young woman in the painting were dots of red in small seas of black. Dragging a hand across her face she groaned, "This is like something off a bad TV show. Or out of a cheesy novel."
  5. Vicky nodded, "I can imagine that John, though practicing something easy doesn't improve your abilities as much as trying something hard. In the past few months, my lifting capacity has grown from half a ton to somewhere in the neighborhood of a tank because I keep upping my weight every couple weeks." She watched John's triple-knife display, "Very nice John. I still get a little rush seeing your powers at work, wondering what you'll pull out next." "Pizza soon Brian. There's a reason Morgan asked us here," she said. After a second she asked with a playful smile, "So, what kept ya? Rae and Gir's study group make you lose track of time?"
  6. "Very impressive," Wisp said as the villain was encased. She pulled the phone he'd converted out and passed it back to him. "I took the liberty of dialing my own phone so you'll have my number if you ever find yourself needing a hand," she said with a smile. "You mind watching him? I know where there are some conveniently placed officers who would be more than happy to place this criminal under arrest." In a plume of her red and white smoke, she was gone. A few moments later, she was back with a pair of cops. "Again, no hard feelings officer. My fault for sneaking up on you like that. Besides, the bruise is already almost gone," she said smiling.
  7. Vicky nodded, "We can take as much of a, and as many, breaks as you need." She walked down the halls, stopping to marvel at the blown glass replica of Bilbo and later Frodo Bagins' sword Sting that sat in a case next to a small statue of a wizard, complete with staff and pointy hat, made of chiseled white marble. Further down the exhibit was a painting that made her stop dead in her tracks. It was of... her. She stood before a half-ruined castle wearing a breastplate under what looked like wizard robes, holding a rune covered longsword in her hand while the wind whipped her loose hair behind her. The plaque beneath the painting stated it was anonymously donated, the artist was unknown. "That's... that's just damn freaky."
  8. Vicky waved as John made his way over, "Good afternoon John. Sorry, don't think we're going to get to play human pinata with Crow and the tree today. Though, given what Archer's been putting us through, that might be something he has up his sleeve for the next round of training." She reached into a pocket of her jeans and pulled out a pocket notebook and tossed it to John, "Some weaponry ideas that are a little outside the norm. A couple wrist blaster designs, hardlight knives, that sort of thing. Drew the concept art myself, I figure if you can imagine it, you can make it and make it work."
  9. Running a hand through her long white hair before nodding, "Zombies, demons, Jedi, stuff that non-superheroes don't see outside of comicbooks, movies, or video games," Vicky agreed. "But please Rene, don't trouble yourself looking for any work for me. I mean, someday I'd like to be able to draw pictures or my own graphic novels for a living but it isn't something I need to rush into. I should probably finish highschool first, you know?" She finished the sketch and closed the little sketchbook, sticking it back into her bag. "However, I'm not exactly done soaking in the exhibit. Care to join me on my tour?"
  10. Wisp wasted no time in following up Revenant's throwing of the one wolf by calling together her will and in a series of short-distance teleports, had decked every wolf and had it laying on the concrete, planting slightly but neither excessively harmed or likely to get up and make any more trouble. Reappearing where she'd started in a plume of her sanguine and snow colored smoke, she nodded to herself. "Wolves... Super," she sighed, "Nothing like a pack hunter in the West End to make the night go right."
  11. "I hope so," Wisp grumbled, her ruby on ebony eyes flashing around the room, "These guys give me the creeps." As she began pulling wires and cords to use as improvised restraints she asked, trying to lighten the mood, "I wasn't paying attention, who has the highest KO and is stuck with the post-fight purchasing snacks now?" She piled the Nazis in a corner, tied to one another after searching them for any weapons. "Also, anyone want to run outside, see if the emergency services the woman called brought cops with them?"
  12. Vicky landed in the tree, the smoke clearing to reveal her sitting on one of the branches where it met the trunk, having attempted to anticipate her boyfriend's usual stop. She was almost disappointed when he was standing beneath the tree instead of hanging from a limb. "Hey Handsome," she called from the boughs. In another swirl of crimson and snowy smoke, she was standing next to Morgan. "So who do you think will get here next, Brian or John?"
  13. Vicky set her bag on the seat, telling her companion to keep an eye on it before walking over to stand next to Jubatus. "I believe I can be of assistance in getting the bus moved." She rolled her shoulders and cracked her knuckles. While her powers had granted her improved strength, she'd never tried to lift anything as heavy as city bus and if she were alone, she'd never make it budge but with help, she just might be able to prove useful.
  14. Vicky quirked an eyebrow at his reaction to her explaining Photoshop. She quickly settled her face back into a pleased expression, "My name's Victoria but my friends call me Vicky," she replied, extending a hand, "A pleasure to meet you Rene." "Well, I got into drawing thanks to one of my other hobbies, role-playing games. At first it was just basic sketches of what my character looked like or how a piece of equipment was shaped but as I got more experience the rest of the group started asking me to draw their characters. By the end of my time with them back in Chicago, I was able to trade my skills for a couple bucks or somebody to cover my part of the food delivery bill. Starving art, bah," she finished with a slight smirk. With her supplies and book back in the bag she slung it over one shoulder and sat back down on the bench to finish the dragon's loot picture. "I don't suppose you know anyone looking for someone to commission work from my particular genre?"
  15. Vicky nodded at Jeena after she'd removed her protective eye wear, "I count myself lucky I only need to wear my sunglasses to keep a disguise up around the normal folks. Red on black eyes tend to have certain sections of society yelling about demons." Beckoning the assembled mass forward, she looked over her shoulder at her boyfriend. "Yeah Morgan, I'm surprised he didn't break the sound barrier when he flew away." Moving near Gwen she kept her voice low so to avoid embarrassing the other girl, "Back to the subject of showers... No offense but you look like you could use one yourself. Twenty-hours on a plane and all."
  16. "Never heard of the photoshop store, I meant the computer image software. It helps the unskilled look like they can draw and supplies the digital tools to make anyone with talent or skill much better." Taking a better look at the man as she stuffed supplies back into her bag, recognition flashed across her face, though it was hard for Rene to notice given her shades. "Well Mr. DeSeans, I'm taking sequential art classes as part of my high school's art program but this themed exhibition the museum has going on right now definitely has me here to soak in other artist's work, inspire some new ideas and refine some older ones," Vicky answered.
  17. OOC for the other thread. Also, 1d20+2=22 for an untrained gather info check.
  18. Vicky looked over at the old man who had settled down next to her while her focus had entirely been on her sketching, "Oh, thanks. And you're right, it isn't ideal, the sketch probably could use something extra but I'm probably just going to use this as a handout for my gaming group's next session. If I was taking this particularly seriously, it'd be more than a rough pencil sketch. I'd probably go all out with the inks and markers, or maybe see what I can do with Photoshop." As she spoke her leg shifted and knocked her messenger bag over, spilling out her hardbound binder which contained completed drawings, as well as a handful of pencils onto the floor. "...Super," she grumbled as she began to gather them up.

Right. What kind of clothing do you wear? Usually jeans and t-shirts or hoodies. Sometimes I switch to a skirt and a blouse. Do you wear makeup? Sometimes, not often though. What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? Mezzo-soprano. Not really distinctive, except for a faint Russian accent, unless singing. At that point, get your earplugs. Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? Generous eating habits, caused by teleporting burning calories like tissue paper in a stove. I've had more than a few people make a comment on my apatite. History Where do you come from? Chicago, Illinois. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? Moving from Chicago to Freedom City counts. Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? Yes. Yes. And honestly, politicians are all crooks but it is a better system than most of the world. How do you feel about the place you come from? Chicago's a nice place but it really can't compete with Freedom. Where is your home town? What was/is it like? Chicago. Windy, cold in winter, baking in summer. Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? Not really, my neighborhood had a lot of Russian immigrants. Because of this, I spent a lot of time actively speaking Russian as well as English everyday. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? I've always been pretty decent at drawing and had an interest in writing so while in school I've been looking forward to the art and creative writing classes. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? Nothing worse than normal. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. When I was nine, I saw my a local spider-themed hero, Aracnolad, broke up a bank robbery I was held hostage in. Left the thugs stuck to the walls, upside down, with webs he shot from his hands. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? Well, when I was fourteen I tried smoking. ...Not my smartest choice. Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? My previous school was Prospect Hieghts Highschool, home of the Chicago Spartans. Good school, though the rich popular kids are a little more favored by the administration. Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? I kept the softball from the game where I broke my arm, as well as the copy of The Hobbit my father bought for me. Both have a lot of memories attached to them. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? When I was fifteen, not long after I got my powers. Because I couldn't stand seeing people in the position I had been in most of my school-life, unable to defend myself when harassed. Right now, my parents don't know I'm wearing a mask and beating up criminals, they just think I'm going to Claremont to better control my powers. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? No. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Nope. Do you represent yourself as being different from who you really are? Why? Just when trying to keep my secret identity just that, secret. If you do have these secrets, what do you fear would happen if the truth became known? How far would you go to protect those secrets? I'm not sure how far I'd go to keep my ID secret. I hope I never have to find out. Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? No criminal record, my parents raised me right. Family What are your biological parents' names? John and Natasha Knight. Were you raised by them? If not, please explain and describe who raised you. Yes. What was their standing in the community? What did/do they do for a living? Middle-class, well liked by the locals. Dad was a security consultant while mom took up a teaching at a local community college. Where are your parents now? Chicago. Did your family stay in one area or move around a lot? We lived in the same house all my life. How did you get along with their parents? How do you get along with them now (if applicable). We still get along well, that might change if they found out about my superheroic activities. How do your parents view you now, or how would they? I imagine they might be upset I'm risking my life against super powered criminals. Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. Nope. What was your birth order in the family? Well, there's me and, well, me. Where are your siblings now (if applicable)? Do they have families of their own? What do they do? Unborn. Do you stay in touch with them or have you become estranged? Not applicable. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? I've been closer to dad than mom but I wouldn't say I love him more. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? Well, dad gave me something of a crash-course in teleporting so I didn't 'port accidentally at inconvenient times. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. Well, mom is the black sheep of her side of the family. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. Not that I'm aware of. Technically, Superior is in my bloodline, due to the super-serum that mom was given... Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. Well, I have a boyfriend at school. No kids though. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? I think I'd like kids someday. It isn't set in stone but close. What type of person would be your ideal mate? Smart, funny, able to keep up with my adventures. Relationships Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. Well there's John “Myrmidon†Smith, met him at school and have been slowly corrupting him with the wonders of the internet and video games. And there's of course, my boyfriend Morgan Crowe. I met him when he nearly pegged me with a snowball. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? My 'team' as a whole, John, Morgan, Brian, Janis... If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? Janis/Zap, Crow, Myrmidon, Brian/Glowstar, Mr. Summers... Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? Nope. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. I haven't made any yet, though I'm sure Angel is less than pleased that in our first meeting I knocked her out in one punch. If you have enemies, how do you think they might attempt to work against you in the future? Probably, that is what enemies do. What is the worst thing someone has done to you? Kidnapped me and carted me off to the fae realms. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? My family, my team, my friends, Claremont. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? Morgan Crow, he lead the charge to get me back from the previously mentioned fae realms. Who or what do you despise? Why? Nazis, snakemen. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? Honesty, loyalty, courage, humility. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? Selfishness, callousness, cruelty. Do you have a secret identity? If so, who knows it? Do you hide it from people who are close to you? Why? Well, my identity as Wisp is separate from my civilian identity of Victoria Knight. Do you work well on teams and in groups? Are you a leader or a follower? I think I do. I've worked randomly with Push, Cannonade, Citizen, Crusader, Jubatas, among others. I haven't taken charge on any of those encounters though. Are you on a super team? If so, how do you get along with your comrades? Do you trust them, or do you have secrets from them? Not officially but the idea of putting one together has come up. Are you a member of any church, fraternal organization, club, committee, political party, or other group? How much time do you spend on that? Well, I was raised Catholic, though I'm fairly lapsed. I've joined Claremont's anime and role-playing clubs. Personality & Beliefs Who are your heroes? Well, Centurion of course. There's also Aracnolad back in Chicago and more locally the Freedom League. Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? Not really, I guess if I met the Freedom League the real life version wouldn't stack up to the fantasy the cartoon shows and comics have built up around them. Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? Yes, I love it. The rewarding part is knowing I helped defend people who were unable to defend themselves. Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? Nothing that I can think of. What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? Getting ready for my senior year of high school, submitting my art portfolio to publishing houses so I have a job when graduate, learning more skills for fighting crime in Freedom. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? Writing my own series of graphic novels, probably still fighting crime. What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? Being tricked into attacking a comrade again. Note the again, caused by a fae tricking me into thinking my boyfriend was Overshadow. Is there anything you would give you life for? My family. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? I don't think money is the most important thing in the world. I would like a job where I make enough to be comfortable. I do however like to share, buying food and drinks with friends. How do you generally treat others? As I'd like to be treated. Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? Not overly, though that's because of the near paranoia my parents instilled in me growing up. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? I used to be very much an introvert, but since transferring to Claremont I've been making an effort to be more outgoing. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? If I were still single, plenty of flirting. What are your most annoying habits? Probably my use of my pop culture catchphrases. Do you feel contempt for any general category of people? Who are they, and why? Yes, Nazis and racists in general. Mostly because I can't stand ignorant people. What is your favorite food? Do you prefer any particular type of food? Do you take the time to enjoy your food, or do you eat as fast as you can? Cheeseburgers. When I can, I do enjoy taking my time. What is your favorite drink (alcoholic or otherwise)? Mountain Dew: Voltage, it has the calories and carbs helpful to keeping my teleports fueled. What is your favorite treat (dessert)? Apple pie, hands down. Are there any specific foodstuffs that you find disgusting or refuse to eat? Anchovies. What is your favorite color? Are there any colors you dislike? Purple. Not big on yellow. What sort of music do you like? Is there any that you hate? Rock mostly. And I just can't stand stuff like Yani. If you have a favorite scent, what is it? My shampoo, this vanilla and lavender mix. Do you have a favorite animal? Cats. What is your most treasured possession? Why? A tie between my sketchbook and my art/writing portfolio. Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts? Creature comforts, without a doubt. Is there a job or a task you would absolutely refuse to do? Probably being a janitor. Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? Not really. Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? Nope. If you belong to a religious organization, how often do you attend? Do you have a specific place of worship, or friends within the organization? How much do you agree with the beliefs of your organization? I'm a lapsed Catholic. Could you kill? Have you killed? I don't know. Not anything higher on the food chain the insects. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? Bug bites are annoying. Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? Yes, self defense when non-lethal options have failed. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Would your reaction be different if the killer was a friend or an enemy of yours? Sickened, I believe in beating people but not killing them. If the killer was a friend who used me to bring their victim, add betrayed. How would you react if something important was stolen from you? Find out who took it, get it back, knock senseless anyone who got in my way. How would you react to public humiliation? Poorly, depending on what it was there'd be two extremes. Me hiding in my room or seething in rage and willing to punch some faces. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Has it happened to you? I'd go on Roaring Rampage of Revenge. Thankfully, no. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? Rape, because it leaves a victim traumatized for years. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? Spend as much of this time with my friends and family, drag my significant other into a private room, gather my drawings and writing into a folder for safe keeping. Career & Training Do you have any special training in your hero skills? If so, where and how did you get it? Combat wise, yes. My parents gave me the basics. Who taught you the most about your heroing abilities? What was your relationship with that person? Dad mostly covered the 'reading people' aspects while mom covered the acrobatics and most of the hand to hand stuff. Do you have any particularly unusual skills? How did you acquire them? Well there's my ability to teleport but that's less a skill and more a super-power. However, I got it from dad's bloodline. Do you do something besides hero work for a living? Have you ever done anything else, or do you plan to? No, though if I can improve my teleporting range, I might start up a small scale delivery service or maybe a taxi service. What is your preferred combat style? My parents never mentioned style names but close combat. Have you ever received any awards or honours? I was part of the honor roll for most of junior high. What skill areas would you like most to improve in? Is there anything you can't do that you wish desperately you could? How do you act around people who are more skilled than you in areas you'd like to improve? Are you jealous, or do you try and learn? Mostly I stick back and observe, trying to learn what I can. Lifestyle & Hobbies What is a normal day for you? How do you feel when something interrupts this routine? Get up, shower, dress, go to class, finish my homework, go on a patrol around Bayview. Do you have any hobbies, or interests outside hero work? What are they, and where did you pick them up? Drawing, writing, and gaming. Picked the last one up in junior high and the first two grew out of it. What do you do for fun? The above hobbies, watching movies, reading comic books. Do you have a costume? What does it look like? Yes. It's a red base with an over layer of white. How do you normally dress when not in costume? Normally, jeans and a t-shirt, hoodies when the weather turns cold. Sometimes, I even wear a skirt. What do you wear to bed most nights? Do you really need to know? ...Pajama pants, spaghetti strap tank. Do you wear any special jewelry? What is it, and what does it look like? Not often but I have a pair of silver and ruby stud earings an matching bracelet. Do you have a special place where you keep your valuables? I have a small box I my jewelry and small mementos stored in my desk drawer. What's your preferred means of local travel? How about long distance? Local, my teleportation. Long distance, I prefer flying. Miscellaneous Have you ever made a will, or tried to make arrangements for your death? What provisions did you make? No. If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of identifying your body? Finger prints, dental records. What would you like to be remembered for after your death? That I did what I could to help the defenseless. Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? In theory, super-strength and being able to get past most locks could be considered one. What do you perceive as your greatest strength? My high mobility. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? My first instinct in combat is attack. As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed your advice... Wisp, enjoy the little things in life.
  20. Victoria Knight sat on one of the comfortable benches within The Kirby Museum of Fine Arts, her sunglasses covering her eyes despite the fact she was indoors. The recent science fiction and fantasy themed showing attracting the young teleporting heroine and aspiring artist to the museum like a moth to a flame. She had propped on one knee a sketchbook where she worked at translating one piece of a dragon sleeping atop it's pile of gold into her own style. "This should make a good illustration to handout next session," she half whispered to herself as her pencil flew across the page.
  21. Vicky looked down at her training clothes, then back at John, "You... have a point." To Jeena and Gwen she asked, "You mind terribly if we grab a quick shower and change of clothes before giving the basic tour of the grounds? It'll be sort of on the way anyway, the R.A. mentioned a couple new girls moving in on my floor a few doors down from me. My guess is that's you two." She ran a hand through her sweat soaked hair and sighed, Yeah, really need that shower...
  22. Wisp vanished from the circle of trees as they tried to crush her in one great pile of limbs and leaves. Just before they'd rushed in, she'd noticed the robots emerge from the earth so her teleportation took her behind the machine, where with one forward thrust of her fists she made a small fist-sized dent in the machine's casing. "Me? Oh I'm fine," she answered, shaking some stray leaves out of her hair. She grimaced as she pulled her fist back however, though the minor bruising on her hand from punching something normal people weren't meant to hit fixing themselves almost instantly.
  23. Vicky gave a nod, "I could certainly use some food. Teleporting like that today wears on my caloric reserves." To Jeena she smiled, "The cafeteria has pretty much everything. Though..., I'm one of the students the attendants kind of dread to see come in." Moving next to Morgan, she pulled the band out of her hair and let the snowy-white tresses fall loose just about to her shoulder blades. "On a side note Jeena, love your shades. I have to ask, where'd you get those?"
  24. Wisp turned to the last remaining member of the ritualist's retinue. She hauled back and dealt a solid blow right to the man's face, doing her best to avoid striking Atlas as she did. Which when she pulled her hand back, her turned his head and smirked at her. Looking over her shoulder at Cannonade, her crimson on ebony eyes flashed as she grumbled, "Yeah. Punks are a little tougher than I'd have thought. Stupid Nazis..."
  25. Gonna all-out, power-attack a regular punch. 1d20+13=30 That's a DC 27 toughness please.
