He was grateful for the helm and mask, because her appearance was startling to him. The fashions of this world were different indeed. "I had not intended to imply you were useless." He said as a half apology. "Besides." he threw a leg over Silverstar. "Launcelot du lac would be a terrible knight to emulate." He said dryly. "If you do not possess your own transportation, you can climb on back of Silverstar."

Mali was not a technical expert. She followed up into the control room and glanced around. "I...okay, gotta block the signal. Gotta...how do I block the signal? Shia!" She calmed down, then tuned in to Foreshadow. "Hey, I just got a transmission. Raven and Bowman are in need of some help, we need to block the signal, a signal somewhere in here, so they can deal with fewer mercenaries. I'm no tech expert. Can you help?

He considered saying no, but her laughter was honest and sweet, and he knew that wallowing in his own misery wasn't the best way to do things. He let the comment about being a knight with a steed pass, there was no reason to discuss that. Then he nodded. "Certainly." He said. "What do you do?. I assume you didn't come to Claremont with neither training nor powers." He didn't mean that to sound as harsh as it might have. He hoped that his garb suggested his martial prowess enough. He thought an ostentatious display of his weaponry would be out of place. Let her ask, or better yet, let her see if they did confront some crime.

"I'm going on patrol." He said. As he said that, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a plain black domino mask which he promptly put on. Then, his body was enveloped in a hazy glow for a moment, before vanishing. He was now dressed from head to toe in armor straight out of medieval times. It was steel plate, with chain and leather helping to keep his joints flexible. Then, he said some words in a language Juno did not understand. The area in front of him glowed slightly for a moment, then faded. It revealed a motorcycle, all in chrome and silver, with a four pointed star on the tank. He looked at Juno, wondering what she was going to do, or say.

Friday, February 7th 11:00 PM Sleep did not come easily to Gunnar. He generally stayed up as late as he dared, reading or studying, then slept fitfully. This night, however, he found no reason to continue trying. So, he headed out of the dorm, downstairs, and prepared himself to go out patrolling. To see the city at night, and hopefully test his mettle against some unsavory folks. So he stood, breath hanging in the air, staring out into the city under cover of darkness. Steeling himself against whatever horrors a late night patrol could inflict upon him on this strange, alien world.

Crimson Tiger Mali watched the exchange with trepidation. She knew that getting into Elias' bubble was an almost insurmountable challenge. He was a troubled person. She appreciated the warm enthusiasm of Thaelia and Subito, but she knew that Elias was being pushed beyond his tolerance. She would have intervened, but she felt it best that Elias explain it to them. That would make certain that it stopped there. She turned to Subito and kind of half shrugged. "Things are getting kind of intense in class, and I'm dealing with college applications." She let other details of her recent past go and wasn't up to discussing them. "So right now it's mostly class, applications, and patrolling."
-
He let them believe it was wholly homesickness. It was, but it was a lot more and he really did not want to talk about it. Still, the two of them weren't unpleasant company. He'd already done the tour, already had a good idea of the layout, but he realized that he couldn't let himself get too depressed. That was counterproductive to his plans. Dwelling on his losses would do nothing but drive him mad. "I wouldn't object to seeing more of the school." He said fairly amiably.
-
He couldn't help but smile slightly. "Something like that, yes." He said dryly. Explaining his world wasn't something he was comfortable with doing just yet. Still, she was clever enough to identify nations that would share a similar accent to his own. As it was, the only people that knew of his origin were the people he had to explain it to when he arrived on Earth Prime and the faculty he interviewed with. As soon as the smile faded, he sighed for a split second, then looked up and continued walking. It was all too much to discuss in front of strangers.
-
Gunnar nodded politely. "Actually, I should probably get to know the area better anyway. I just got here myself and I only know how to go to my own room. Knowing the general layout of the area would be good for me." He carried it forward. "Besides, I agreed to help, but it would be wrong of me to withdraw my assistance in the face of a little difficulty." It was a flimsy excuse, and he knew it, but there was no point in withdrawing his help at this point. He knew that they could use it. Carrying large, heavy objects up stairs was always a pain, even more so if you had to share the burden with another.
-
He nodded. "Thank you, Haukea. My name is Gunnar, nice to meet you both." He turned to each girl and nodded politely in turn. "I am happy to be of assistance. Shall we be off?" He said, hefting the trunk as he trudged forward. It really wasn't that heavy for him. Slowed him down a bit, but it was obvious he was used to carrying large weights. He followed Haukea, as that was who was guiding them. His mind turned to the two young women he had just met. They seemed so eager, even happy, to be at the school. As for him, he concentrated on keeping the trunk steady.
-
Gunnar nodded and reached down to pick up the trunk. It was heavy, even made him struggle a bit, but he had an easier time of it than the girl did. He turned to Haukea, who also offered. He said nothing, but in his head, the new girl wouldn't have been able to carry it any easier. Haukea was probably planning on sharing the burden, but Gunnar knew he could handle it on his own. "Now, if I may ask, where is this going?"
-
Gunnar glanced over and saw her. He watched for a second, seeing her drag the trunk along, trying to get it somewhere. He sighed to himself. Obviously, she needed help. His duty demanded that he go help her out. So, he walked towards the poor girl, dragging that massive trunk, and said. "Excuse me, miss. Would you like some help?" He said, in his best polite form.

January 31st, 2014 12:30 PM Gunnar stepped onto the Claremont Academy campus and glanced around. He had a bag slung over his shoulder. He wore a warm coat, with a black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, a braided leather belt and a pair of work boots. He had already had a full tour of the facilities. Already signed up for classes, already done the legwork. He even had stuff moved into his new room. He'd even heard he'd have a roommate. All he had to do yet was actually move in. It was evident to anyone who saw him that the cold didn't bother him very much. One of the roughest winters they'd had in a while, and the young man seemed barely fazed. He wasn't planning on introducing himself around, but Gunnar was always taught to be polite.

Martial arts are nothing but applied physics and knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Knowing how to apply the greatest degree of force to the right places in the right ways. Normally, all that goes out the window. The fighter has to live in the moment, testing strength against strength and reflex against reflex. Muscle memory to learn exactly how to punch or kick to maximize harm to the opponent and minimize the harm to oneself. Every once in a while, though. A hit lands exactly where and how it's supposed to. Mali turned to one of the fighters as he stepped near to her. She twisted and delivered a powerful kick to his abdomen, as strong as she could. It was just the right spot, and he flew through the air. He slammed into the wall and shattered it like glass, then slammed into a wall behind that. She turned to make sure he was still breathing, then turned to the rest of the room who no doubt saw just what she'd done. She hoped it might deter at least one of them.

Mali's gonna take a swing at Fighter 9 Crit! DC32 Toughness save! I think the knockback is gonna wreck the place, heh

As soon as the duplicates were on the ropes from Giang's attack, Mali was off like a shot. She knew that if they got a chance to recover from being knocked for a loop, the fight would go on a lot longer. She poured everything she had left into an all out run, hoping to close distance before they had a chance to react. She knew Legion was too dangerous to fight 'fair' against. So, when she closed distance on the original, non-duplicate Legion, she used the momentum from her run to slam her fist down onto the girl's head, knocking her back to the ground. She looked around and instinctively raised her hands. She wanted to make sure that if there were any more surprises, she'd be ready.

Graft nodded. "The roof. Good thinking. Yeah I'm tough. I can take hits and heal fast. Kicking in the doors would cause a lot of chaos. The good kind. The kind we can take advantage of. I can vary the suit's offense if I need to, let them use the subtle approach while we use the blunt one. That works just fine for me." "I also operate just fine in near to total darkness, in case that becomes a viable tactic." He said. He tried to keep the suit from looking too weird, but as he said that, the color of his eyes shifted to blue and then red again.

I have to burn an HP for ultimate toughness so she can tank the hit. 27 on the save.

Henry felt the surge of raw despair hit him. It tore through his mind and pulled him into a pit of self doubt. It made him think the kind of thoughts that forever tried to intrude on his waking mind. It sometimes left him awake all night, unable to cast off the toil of his years. But this was not his home. This was not his bed. This was not the time for nihilistic despair. This was real, this was now. These people needed him. They needed the old soldier, the old hero. The years would take their toll as they always had, but this was not the time to linger on those thoughts. He wasn't a soldier, he was a hero. There was a day to save, people to save. All lives mattered. He shook his head. The feelings lingered, but he brought his head back into the here and now. Right now, the matter was Ember Psion. The wild card and the person who could turn the battlefield into a abattoir. He took off into the air after them, intent on staying within a range he knew he could fight in. He felt the power surge within him again. What was going on with the energy within his body? He raised his hand. He'd have to be reckless. She looked like she could dodge well. The blast of energy surged from his hand. Azure, spectral flames slammed into Ember. This time, it hurt.
-
First, he's going to follow them up to stay within range of Ember. Considering how fast he is, there's no way that's a problem. gonna shift -2 from defense to attack to cover for shaken. The mini all-out attack. Got a 27 on the attack. Gonna burn an HP to shake off the fatigue from last round's extra effort, so I can use extra effort this round! That's a DC25 tou save. Operation; Pour on the hurt continues

Mali nodded. "Ohh, I am terrible at meeting new people, or I was. You probably noticed that I'm pretty muscular." She said, opening the door to the rest of the school. "I went to a pretty upper crust school, and muscular Asian girls weren't exactly top on anyone's list. Guys don't necessarily like it if you can bench more than they can." She smiled. "But that all changed. This place has so many wonderfully different people, it celebrates what makes us unique. It doesn't make us feel like we're wrong for being ourselves. Nobody's telling me that it's wrong to be a martial artist or muscular or whatever, most people think it's cool. It's not just about powers or skills, either. It's about who we are all around. I mean I've met aliens, ghosts, girls from alternate universes. So many different kinds of people. It's amazing."
