"I train a lot. I'm kind of a fitness nut." Mali said, shrugging. She tried her best to make sure Carrie wouldn't get suspicious. After all, how many muscular Asian teens were there in Freedom City? Though she realized that even if Carrie suspected she were a hero, there'd be absolutely no way to know which one. After all, how would she know? There were dozens of heroes in Freedom City, after all.

Mali nodded and pulled her cell phone from her pocket. She never carried a full purse while on a run, but always carried a wallet with an ID, some money, and her phone. "Sure, gimme a second." She said, gazing down at the thief. This woman, who's purse had been stolen...she knew how to handle herself in a fight. That was interesting. Of course, her movements hadn't been as practiced or sure as Mali's own, but she'd have been in a few fights. Of that she was certain. She dialed the phone.

"Look, I don't know who you are, and I don't know why you did that, but I really suggest you give that back. I have no qualms about taking it from you while you're unconscious." She said, folding her arms and flexing slightly. She hoped that her size, speed and apparent strength would dissuade the thief from conflict. Contrary to her word, Mali really did not want to beat this person up, but she was willing to, and that's all she needed.

Mali declined the sunscreen and smiled. "Hi, my name is Mali." She said, introducing herself to the group. She hoped the guys they were with wouldn't make any trouble, but she also kinda hoped they did. She really, really didn't want to be hit on by someone like that. It wasn't that they were ugly, they just didn't suit her temperament.

Mali growled and took off in a full run. Really? Really?! Shapeshifting pickpockets? How in the...nevermind. She was going to catch this person. Then she chuckled to herself. This was a perfect opportunity to push herself a bit. She'd been jogging at a solid pace, but this, this was much better.

"I'm not as fast as you, but my senses are not limited to the senses that ordinary humans possess. I'll search as well. The faster we can stop these attacks, the better we'll be." He said before taking off in a run. He could smell certain things that were off. A trace of tear gas here or there. He found a couple of tear gas bombs that would have been impossible to simply see and marked them carefully. He smelled tear gas near a truck and sniffed around it, unable to locate it on the outside. He let out a low growl of frustration and simply lifted the truck above his head. There it was. It was simply taped there, with a wire leading outward that was apparently intended to be a trip wire. He recognized that since it was so low tech, he could easily get to it and remove it without setting it off. He had the suit flatten out and form a series of tendrils, reaching up and plucking the grenades from their position. He probably looked very disconcerting, but he was able to extract them safely. He carried them gingerly towards a pair of police officers. "Find something airtight to put these in, please. I'm looking for more."

Mali knew the movie, and actually didn't much care for it. She was of the opinion that Ferris wasted his natural talents by working so hard to avoid working. Such a concept was anathema to her. She'd been to Chicago more than a few times, and enjoyed the taste of Chicago style pizza. Even if it meant veering away from her diet to indulge. "I love Chicago." She said, looking around. "It's got a lot of history and a strong character. I believe it was Carl Sandburg that called it the 'City of the Big Shoulders'."

Well, with that result, she knows he's a new hero on the scene who seems to use some sort of organic suit. Because he's only been fighting crime for a few weeks if that, she doesn't know anything more.

Graft spotted the hero Velocity and got his story straight in his head. He was in the crowd, spotted what was happening, then spotted her and decided to help her. He ran quickly to her, taking advantage of his enhanced speed to stand near her. At six and a half feet tall, Graft was an imposing figure even without accounting the strange, carapace-like nature of his suit. Luckily, when not fighting the suit managed to cover up the bones and muscles that it created to augment Tyrone's normal physique. Thus, while it looked alive, it did not look as strange or horrifying as it might when Graft was more concerned about fighting than appearance. "Hello, I am Graft. I was in the crowd when everything went down and spotted you a few moments ago." He looked over the crowd. "I'm happy to lend a hand if you need it."

Crimson Tiger stood by, letting the others take the lead. She'd been trained by her father in better looking facilities, but the attitudes were the same. Muay Thai had been taught to her the same way her ancestors had learned it. While she used more modern equipment for strength, agility and endurance training, there was no such substitute for learning to fight. She thought it best to let the older and much more experienced members of their group do the talking. They all seemed quite savvy about things, and she felt that her relative naivety might get her or them in trouble at some point. For her purposes, though, she elected to stay out of the building and waited in the shadows in a building nearby.

Mali stood ready and willing to work. She wore a loose fitting t-shirt and baggy shorts. Not stylish, but certainly well suited to cleaning. She knew that volunteer work like this would look good on college entrance exams, so she just had to roll her eyes and get through it. It wasn't that she didn't want to help, she just found things like this a bit boring. Still, she wasn't one for doing things halfway, so if she was going to help clean up the beach, she was going to work hard.

Based on the pattern of behavior, Tyrone knew that this was not only a spreading riot, but that someone was doing it deliberately. He was not going to allow this to pass if he could stop it. Unfortunately, there was nothing that he could do about it at the moment, not as Tyrone. Graft, however, could do so. "I'm happy to help, but I'm going to go help people out there, tending to the wounded and such. Sorry I'm not much use, but I'm just a doctor." He said. He walked away from the area and searched for a secluded area. Once he was certain that he'd managed to evade sight, he dropped the backpack and let the creature pool at his feet in a liquid puddle. It responded instantly to his actions, clinging to his feet and crawling up his legs. It lifted him up, supporting his legs and adding about an extra foot to his height. It poured over his body, shifting into tendons and bones as it covered him. His body visibly bulked up as it covered his arms and torso, making him look far larger and more intimidating than he was out of costume. He closed his eyes and let the creature cover his face and eyes. Then he reopened them. The creature connected itself to his nervous system, bypassing his normal eyes in exchange for stimulating his optic nerves directly. The suit shifted and hardened into a shell, and Graft decided to 'find' Velocity and approach her with the alibi that he'd seen her while he'd been in the crowd.

He immediately ran to the side of the man and got to work. This is why he got into medicine. Saving lives. As he worked to save the man's life, he contemplated the situation. He was grateful he was out of costume, because in costume, he wouldn't have been able to save the man's life, even if he'd been able to help solve whatever was going on. To him, saving lives and protecting people was the most important part of his life. Moreso than fighting crime. Once he was done, he looked up. "He'll be alright, but you need to get him out of the tear gas area completely. Don't want him relapsing." He said, looking around. He was looking for injuries severe enough to warrant a doctor. He stood up and scanned the crowd. This, this was rough. It was almost like a disaster area already. He needed to think fast.

Solar Sentinel was a bit disappointed. Normally, he'd have loved to pitch in and help, but he just couldn't. There was too much on the line with what he was dealing with. "I regret that I have something pressing to attend to." He said. "However, I will come back at a later date and help out, I promise." He said. He clearly meant it, too. Volunteer work like this was something he took seriously. All those years of fighting, he had a lot more saving and helping to do before he could ever go to bed feeling like he'd done more good than bad.

Tyrone snapped to attention. Jeez, he couldn't escape work even on vacation! He mentally shrugged and accepted the fact that he was needed. he straightened. "Certainly. I'm American, and a Doctor." he said, nodding. "I can do nothing more than watch this man. I've already treated the wound, so his fate is in the hands of God or better equipped medical personnel. It's times like these I regret having never learned Portuguese." he said, turning to the hero. He didn't know why she was here, but she seemed to be a superhero who could use super speed, so her transportation was easy enough to figure out. He grabbed his backpack that contained both his suit, and his equipment. He wasn't sure if he'd need to suit up as Graft, but he knew that it could happen. He nodded to Velocity. "Please, direct me to him."

Crimson Tiger dropped down from above behind Lucy, having scaled the buildings to ensure nobody followed or tracked her to the building. She'd also contemplated the situation they'd been dealing with last night, trying to figure out how her skills could best be used. "Actually, it's Muay Thai, but hi." She said as she stepped in. "So is there any new information?" She asked as she stood politely by. She didn't know these people, and didn't want to do anything rude. Still, she couldn't bite her tongue upon hearing her traditional fighting style called by the wrong name, so the words had left her mouth before she even realized it.

It became clear, instantly, that this woman was not the thief. Why would a thief look for a wallet in the middle of being ordered to stand down? It seemed to her that she was retrieving her identification to prove that the purse belonged to her. So, she stood down, folding her arms and waiting patiently, still ready and willing to tackle her if she took off running, but willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Crimson Tiger growled at the man next to her and took off in a dead sprint towards the hold. She had no intention of letting the ship blow up anyone. She was glad that she was so quick. If she ever saw the Captain of this ship, she swore she'd slug him. She had no intention, whatsoever, of letting this ship kill anyone. After what had happened earlier in the year, she was absolutely not going to let anyone die. Not even idiotic, evil people who wanted to blow up a dock full of innocents.

Mali wasn't about to be dismissed by this woman. Surely the woman should recognize that she'd gotten caught. Mali ran up and took a swing at the woman, deliberately missing to make sure that her intentions were clear. She was going to take the purse, by force if she had to. That was what she made sure to communicate. "Put that purse down, now!" She shouted. This woman was not prepared to face Mali, and certainly could not afford to ignore her.

Mali turned and spotted the two women, watching as one stole the purse of another. She growled to herself. Purse snatchers, really? She was on a run, enjoying her day, and here was a purse snatcher. She ran towards the two of them. "Hey! Give that back to her!" She shouted, taking off as fast as she could. She didn't consider that she was assessing the situation wrong, just that she saw one person steal from another. "I suggest you hand the purse back over." She said raising her fists as though to attack.

Graft felt the blow rock his jaw, but luckily the suit protected him. He rubbed his jaw a second, and spotted the thugs running towards the building. "Excuse me a moment." he said, suddenly turning around and running at the thugs. With the speed the suit granted him, he reached them in seconds. The suit shifted slightly to take some of the weight off of his hands and ensure he didn't hurt the men any more than he needed to. A few smacks to the head later, and all four were down. He turned around and cracked his knuckles. "Where were we?"
