Mali stepped cautiously outside, feeling very exposed . "Good plan. Let's make this thing regret coming to Earth. Let's be careful though. We don't want to fight all of the drones at once." She gazed forward, nervously, hoping Sharl and Kimber were okay. She kept her eyes peeled, trying to figure out if she could even stand a chance against those robots. If not, she could run interference, or something. This was one of the rare occasions where she felt outclassed by the situation. However, she remained brave and kept her nerves calmed. She was already in danger, letting herself panic would only make it worse.

"Excellent idea." Voltage said. "We don't know exactly what we are walking into. The more heroes and coordination we have, the better. I could stay, but I'd rather be there to look at the transmitter. While I welcome the opportunity to work with more heroes, I know I couldn't have been the first person on your list to call. That means there aren't many tech savvy heroes available for this, so it's probably best I go along to disable it. There may be bombs or any number of other problems that might prevent simply destroying it from being the best course of action."

Mali's eyes went wide, and then focused. "Well, it's too dangerous out here. Let's get this thing inside." With that, she hit the gas. The Wonderbus took off like a shot as one of the tentacles zeroed in on it. Mali twisted the wheel, causing the bus to dodge the tentacle as it narrowly missed. She spun the Wonderbus around, facing the opening in the skull-head. "Can't attack us with tentacles while we're inside it, and I'm pretty sure that's where we want to be anyway." With that, she pushed the pedal to the floor, pushing the Wonderbus harder and faster than it perhaps had ever been. She made for the opening, figuring she couldn't dodge the tentacles forever.

Voltage bent down and analyzed the robot. He glanced over it, seemingly too quickly to get any kind of impression. "This robot has some very sophisticated receivers, wouldn't be required if they weren't being controlled by something. Probably a signal device. Hidden in all likelihood." He said as he touched a small transmitter. "Hmm. unique signal. The source isn't like anything I've ever encountered. Triangulating it shouldn't be difficult." He closed his eyes for but a second. As he closed his eyes, his mind identified the signal amidst the dozens of wireless signals in the air. He picked it out and immediately dissected it's unique signature. With that information in mind, he determined the signal strength and how much attenuation the signal had accrued by estimating the amount of electromagnetic interference in the area. This gave him distance. With that in mind, he traced the signal towards it's center, determining a rough area where the signal could come from. Within a second later, his eyes opened again, and he stood back up. "Wharton State Forest, or thereabouts." He concluded. "Also fits requirements, wouldn't be that hard to hide a signal device there, much easier than in the city itself."

Voltage had researched the Terminus invasion to be at least a little familiar with it, so while the sights were disheartening, they weren't nearly as bad as that had been back then. Still, being suddenly summoned to help identify a robot after having already battled another was making this an interesting day. He had far more on his mind, like the robots apparently replacing superheroes, and the strange signal he identified and destroyed. Stopping crime and averting disasters was the point of being a hero, after all. Letting something like this cripple him emotionally would be akin to letting the bad guys win unchecked. He was passingly familiar with Comrade Frost, at least enough to know the man was on the level. Myrmidon was another story, but he knew the hero had a reputation for summoning weapons and tech, his power origin was unsure. He recognized the name Gaian Knight, a terrakinetic, very powerful. A cold controller, an electricity controller, a weapon summoner and an earth controller. He felt fairly safe in the knowledge that should another attack occur, they would have a reasonable chance of fending it off. Ignore the tragedy, ignore the deaths. Focus on the job, focus on helping people. Still, as he rode in the elevator, he looked grim and serious.

"I'm not so much worried about his motivations as I am what we can do to stop him, or at least call for someone who can. I don't think it's a coincidence that he picked this place to land, either. It may want something inside, or he may already have it. If you point at something to punch, I'll punch it. So what's the plan?" She wasn't scared, she very rarely got scared, but this, this came close to scary. This was so far above her weight class it wasn't funny. Still, in front of the Centurion's home, in front of a place that was owned by the greatest hero to ever live, she would certainly not back down.

Voltage grinned, and nodded. "Exactly, this time we won't be caught off guard." He gathered the group together around him, making sure they were fairly close around him. Then, he floated slightly in the air. Current seemed to flow around them, dancing of of their skin harmlessly, raising the hair on the back of their necks. "Teleporting lots of mass takes more effort, but I've teleported more than this. It's just going to take a few seconds to make this jump, I've been practicing jumps with similar mass and distance, but it still takes effort." Voltage's eyes vanished under the electrical current, glowing silver, his hair shot straight into the air. Converting that much mass into energy was difficult, but doable. He flashed, turning into pure electricity, before turning back. He flashed again as the energy crackled around them, growing in intensity. Then, the world turned white, and they were gone.

Voltage walked over to the police, unsurprised that the cops recognized her. After all, there were a lot of heroes in Freedom City, and some of them were more well known than others. "I have no idea what those two were doing, but it was probably a distraction from something else. They seemed to just go on a random rampage. They seem to be too smart to just go crazy and wreck stuff, so I think something else is going on." He said to the police. "Bonebreaker may be a dangerous brute, but Mindfire is far more dangerous. Her psychic powers can do a lot of damage." He was glad that he and Velocity had managed to stop this, but he was still worried about what they were really trying to do.

That's fine, we can gather the players who want to be part of it, and see who can GM it

"Tona's awesome to spar with. She's good and knows her way around a spar. I've never really been on a climbing wall like this one, actually. I've done most of my climbing on ropes in gym class and such. This will be a blast." Mali was excited to work out, and loved being active. She knew Kristin shared the same love, so inviting her was easy. She had adapted quickly to most of the other athletic activities she'd engaged in, and this shouldn't be an exception. She was ready to have fun. "It's nice in here, I may come back again."

Mali had been concentrating on driving the Wonderbus, trying not to deal with the stuff that was happening. She tried not to think about the situation at Claremont, she tried not to think about everything that was happening. But then she saw the...thing, that stood in front of them. It had turned a world into data! What did it want? Why did it want Earth? Were they really the only people around that could stop it? "I'm with Kristin...I have no idea what we're dealing with, but if we're the only ones who can try to stop it, I certainly want to try. We need an idea of what we're dealing with, and a plan."

Suddenly, it made sense. Where would Crow have heard that sort of craziness? That weird, crazy robot Summers. She was pretty sure that wasn't the real Summers, not with what was happening. She wasn't certain, but she was fairly certain that Sharl's powers didn't work that way. She had been to Erde, she had even volunteered to bring the bioweapon to a place it could be destroyed. "Summers isn't dead. It was some sort of crazy robot duplicate! Summers pulled a gun, Sharl jumped up to stop it. It went off and the Summers robot died." she shouted. "We went to Erde, found bad Nazi bioweapon, brought it back so we could find someone to destroy it! I think someone replaced Summers with a crazy robot or something!"

Mali had been following Koshiro and, when he barked an order to drive, she hopped into the driver's seat. It made perfect sense, after all, and while she wasn't used to taking orders, she certainly wasn't going to disagree with his plan. Save their friends. Crazy things were happening. She turned the bus towards the school and hit the gas, planning on getting in, grabbing their friends, and getting out. It was then that she spotted Crow. He looked badly hurt, and visions of dead Nazis flooded her mind. She had experienced enough death these past few hours. She didn't know why he was there, she just knew he was hurt, and badly. She pulled the Wonderbus up near Crow and opened the door. "Oh my god, Crow!!" She shouted. "Are you okay?!" She had seen so many people get hurt, and die, that she didn't care if Crow was a potential enemy. He was her friend. "Koshiro, I know we're supposed to rescue Young Freedom, but he looks hurt, bad. I'm not going to let anyone else die!"

vignette January (and February) Vignette: Day of Wrath
Thunder King replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Freedom City Stories
I'd like to use Dr. Stratos, or at least like to lay a temporary claim until I get a chance to look at the book tonight. I'm only asking for a couple of hours of indecision, as I don't have the book right now (not at home.) I'll look at him as soon as I get home tonight and confirm whether or not I want to use him. EDIT: Upon further reflection, I've decided not to use Dr. Stratos -
"Not a problem. You're fast enough where if they do anything but groan, you'll be fast enough to be back before they can get back up." He said. He was a bit surprised at his own power, and concerned about whether or not he should have done it like that. He watched the two thugs very carefully, knowing that he did not want to go through a fight like that again. "Man, I'm not sure what got into them. It doesn't make much sense for them to go on a random rampage. I don't have enough information to figure out what they wanted though, but I'm betting it was something big." He thought aloud, wondering what their real goal was.

Apparently, I won't be available for the weekend. I'm really sorry about this, but it came as suddenly to me as it did to you guys. I simply won't be available to post until late Monday, maybe a bit earlier.

Crimson Tiger dropped down by the door, keeping to the shadows as she crept up on the door guard. He seemed completely oblivious to her presence, even as she neared. Within a few moments, she was behind him. She grabbed him by the back of the head and struck him in a certain spot, knocking him out. With that done, she dropped him, gently, and dragged him away, getting ready to rush the room as soon as it looked like the bad guys were focused on the ceiling.

Mali stared, and, for a moment, couldn't think, and couldn't act. Then, something in her brain clicked. She was still very, very worried, scared even, but she was able to perceive some things that seemed...off, especially about Mr. Summers' actions. Considering what happened, Sharl was not entirely to blame. "Oh, geez, oh, god...oh god..." She said, standing up and holding her head between her hands. She looked down at the body. She smelled burnt flesh, but...not that burnt. He wasn't bleeding or leaking any fluids. It looked very weird for a dead body. Not that she was a major expert, but having seen recently dead quite recently, he looked much different. "What if that wasn't the real Mr. Summers?" She said, her head snapping back up. "Look at the body! Something's wrong. We've all seen dead bodies recently. They bleed, burnt flesh stinks really bad. Something weird is going on here...""
