  1. GM Post With a mere flash, the Seeker left its home for the first time in billions of years, appearing without much ceremony near Earth's moon, or this Earth's moon at least. Appart from the sudden appearance of the Moon on the display there wasn't anything to show what had happened to them. She wasn't alone, however, as the holo-displays showed several large wedge-like ships were making their way towards the location. They hadn't gone unnoticed as one obvious by the sudden hail, the image of a more mature Lor woman, dressed in a very severe black military uniform, appeared before them as if with them in the room. "I am Grand Nauarchus Frankan of the Lor Imperial Navy and this system is part of Empire and we will enforce our claim if necessary."
  2. Peri waited nervously outside the company van as she waited for the other heroes to arrive, though as far as they knew she was Emerald Spiders friend. She felt guilty to lie to them about this, but she wasn't quite ready to reveal her secret identity to anyone yet. Maybe soon but not yet. The plan was pretty simple really, no one really paid the maintenance staff any attention, as long as they had passes and the suits they wore against the dangerous chemicals hid any costumes her colleagues would be wearing. And with the bulky hot suits, it hadn't taken much to swap routes, it did mean she'd have to do some of the other downtown servicing alone but that was worth it for this chance to help out. Now all she had to do was wait for the others to arrive.
  3. Downtown Emerald City Though most of the development was done out at the MarsTech campus there was always a need to have a Downtown office, and Mars being Mars it was obviously the largest most dramatic building in the area. Three green crystals, each taller than the other, looking like they had grown from the ground to be bound in metal. Only from above was it apparent that the three together formed a giant M. It might be an architectural marvel, but it still needed the modern comforts that made working there bearable. Unlike most buildings it airconditioning was all on the roof but rather discretely scattered throughout the building, and concerned about a possible chemical attack it has some cutting-edge filtration equipment, that contained some rather nasty chemicals. Many service companies bid for the lucrative contract to maintain this system but only one company won, thanks to the planning and knowledge of one skilled young engineer...
  4. The Praetorians were an official organisation and hence had to stay within the bounds of interstellar law, but sometimes you needed to get your hands dirty and dig in places where they didn't want you to go. Normally she liked to be the one doing the digging, but apparently, she was playing the part of the playing within the system. This must be how Amara feels all the time she mused as she switched to the Praetorians private channel. "Skirris we need to work on your diplomacy, but we can use this to our advantage. Kresh go with her and poke around where they don't want us to go." she switched to English for the Terran benefit "Queenie you and me will play nice with the local authorities and use their resources." A plan in place she turned her attention back to Officer Dressa, all smiles and charm "My apologies for the ruckus, one of will escort her back to our craft for the duration of our visit." she nodded to Barrier "I'd like to look for the possibility of these rogue assemblers, can we use you official sensor suite?"
  5. Sitara always enjoyed the company of Moon-Moth, his unique viewpoint on the universe was always a joy. She also felt a little guilty that she was somehow corrupting his fairly innocent ways with her more worldly viewpoint. Standing up she pulled on the top half of her jumpsuit, it got hot under the display with its power cell. Like any good engineer, she was pretty dirty from the work, despite the best effort of the bases cleaning nanites. "A lot of modern, well back a good few millennium, Earth customs are a mystery to me. There's only so many questions you can ask before people get antsy after all. So do you know how this game is played?" She leaned against the display she'd been "repairing" and paid her full attention to Moon-Moth.
  6. I believe I have enough setup, which you can read here and here, to actually start an actual dimension saving thread. So I need four volunteers to go out and save another world from evil!
  7. For those that haven't been watching, I've begun setting up the groundwork for a trans-dimensional hero group (you can follow it here). Basically, the groups will have a ship, Seeker of Perpetual Harmony, that will travel between parallels stopping other from disrupting the multiverse. The ship comes in three parts the ship itself (for which I use the shorthand Seeker), the ships AI (Harmony) and a gyroid Navimatrix (SOPHie) that liaises between the ship and crew. Appart from that I'm pretty open to what the team needs and how the ship will be fitted out. Obviously, that means we need "official" members of the team to pitch in EP to actually build this stuff so I'm after people who want to be part of this ad hoc team. Whilst anyone can go on transdimensional adventures with this little groups (who really need a funky team name), I'm going to include at least one "official" member.
  8. It was only a minor glitch in the holodisplay but Sitara was determined to find the source with pieces of electrons scattered all over the briefing room. "Bloody Lor technology I could probably make something better with the technology back home. And we were in the bronze age!" what followed was a stream of creative swearing mostly in Sanskrit but also a dozen other languages living and dead. To be fair she could have done this anytime but she knew better than be around Amara, her commander and longtime friend, when was paying her respects to lost friends and family. Having lived much longer as the others she had a very different viewpoint on thing long lost. Sitara wasn't one to morn lost things but instead celebrate new discoveries, but she respected her friend enough to allow her to deal with losses in her own way.
  9. "It's hard to describe but you learn to trust those you fought beside, it's a strange bond formed in fire, steel and blood. It's something that's difficult to describe to those that have never been in battle. And I don't mean to belittle you at all Mr Murk, those who look only for peace should be celebrated." She paused and laughed, more at herself than anything else. "Sorry I've had no one but children and parents to talk to for many years now. Strangely PTA meetings aren't the place to talk philosophy. So is there anything about you codex you feel that I need to know?"
  10. Doctor Thorne wasn't even phased by Arrowhawks arrival, as strange voices or apparitions were apparently just normal to her now. She did, however, rankle a little at the suggestion Arrowhawk bought, even if it was an obviously sensible suggestion. "A skilled student of haematomancy would also be able to determine other important information about our quarry." she paused for a moment before adding somewhat reluctantly "But in there circumstances your analysis might be correct. may i suggest a little haste in such matters?"
  11. "I hope you don't feel that I'm being belligerent on this on purpose Mr Murk. My experience of trusting authority in this world has not been the best, in some ways the fact that the British didn't trust me allowed both sides to come to get used to each other." She raised a hand to cut off the obvious comment and continued "I know that what you have in mind isn't a formal organisation, but even signing it feel just as binding. It may seem foolish to you but I was trained to follow a certain form of honour, and that includes following an agreement even if it will be to my detriment. So you can understand my questioning I hope."
  12. Sitara wasn't in charge, she'd never wanted to be in charge, but after all her experience she'd achieved some respect among her fellow Praetorians. Normally she was fairly relaxed among her fellow Praetorians, but very occasionally she would use her influence. "Simmer down Praetorian, this is a problem they want to solve as much as we do." she gently but firmly put her hand on Skirris's shoulder "Let's hope that this isn't anything Communion related, that could quickly get very messy indeed! Even if it not things can go bad pretty quickly, we need to shut this down quickly if we can." she thought for a second before adding "The assemblers will need some power to set the process in motion, we should be able to track a power use like that down pretty easily."
  13. Swearing creatively, a hobby of her really, Sitara threw the craft around away from the forcefield. Once she was sure that she wasn't going to crash into the shield she placed the craft in a parallel course with the Comet. With no need for fancy flying she let the shuttle plot its own course to keep with the object, she might have to abandon this little ship depending on what they did next. "This ship also seems to have a forcefield in place as well, that's going to be very bad for when it hits the atmosphere. If you can't find an off switch I'm probably going to need a lift down to the surface."
  14. We all know how you hero deals with the world of superheroes and villains around them, but what about those who view these things from a distance? So through February and March here's a chance to show how the general public sees you as a hero. Among some of the choices you have are as follows: How regular folks see your hero, either from a single encounter or a lifelong obsession. Regular folks can be anyone from an Innocent bystander, to members of the emergency services, worried loved ones, muggers and robbers or even the cute pets you've rescued from trees. Media representation of your hero, good or bad, that can be of any type you wish. Examples include talking head fluff pieces, to exerts from tell-all book to reviews of classic run of there comics or that embarrassing off tone TV pilot that few have seen. If reference other heroes show try to use Freedom City equivalent or real-world pieces, so talk about that campy '66 Raven show rather than a certain bat... . Actual fan-fic about your hero. Either a short story or extracts from a longer epic. Keep things PC-13 and whilst any NPC's are fair game please ask before using anyone elses PC characters. How your hero reacting to any of the above, maybe they love the attention or maybe all they want to do is cringe and hope no one else ever knows about such things. Please post them here by March 31st. (As a reminder, vignettes follow the same general rules as posts in terms of content, player character limits, and so on. You may have only one vignette per player character. Each vignette should be at least one page (~500 words) in length; if posted in your thread counts at the end of the month, it is worth 1pp for the associated character. An especially long vignette, 1000 words or more, may be worth up to 2pp. Multiple players can collaborate on a single vignette - we recommend Google Docs for this, it's very useful - but the vignette should be about one page per participating player. )

  18. Ignoring his comment with just an eye roll, she focused instead on helping herself to what was of cause excellent coffee. She sat beside him and looked at the screens, even though she could easily hear the information from across the room, or maybe even orbit if she concentrated enough. "We can't count out Grant himself, his sudden retirement smells of something very devious. No love is lost between him and his daughter and I could see him trying such a stun." She'd never crossed path with the senior Grant but she'd heard rumours through the superhero grapevine.
  19. Peri paused mid noodle as it finally twigged what the others were suggesting, through quickly continued eating as she considered her options. She didn't like the man at all, but she wasn't sure she was ready to break into his office, however, maybe there was another choice... "I have a friend who can get you into the building quite legitimately, then you can go poking around to your heart's content." They had the job to service the building and paranoid as he was there were multiple areas inside the building that needed almost constant maintenance, they visiting wouldn't even raise notice. She'd just need to call in a few favours to swap around who visited what.
  20. "You can tell a warrior that has fought a war by their desire never to fight again, though it is possible to enjoy the fight and not wish it to ever happen. It's difficult to explain without having been in the centre of the battle. As you can tell I'm no poets when talking about such things." she gave a little shrug "I'm a mother so I've obviously learned the wisdom of Solomon through the years." she gave a beaming smile at her own joke "When I fight then that's my focus when I don't fight I can concern myself with other things. Like the pursuit of justice."
  21. "That's very graceful of you Mr Misri, though I can understand your principle behind your thought process." she paused before adding in a slighter more humour tone "And I think you'll find Internet-related profits are up ever so slightly, which is mostly the domain I operate within." She held up a hand before he could possibly respond. "I'm sure that we could debate this for hours, and that your superior business acumen would eventually reign supreme, so let's just cut to find out who was shooting at us. I have excellent sources that tell me that it wasn't apparently any major supercriminal organisation or individual..." She'd called in a few favours with those at the League that were relatively friendly to her, plus those allies she'd made among the wider superhero community. And she was as sure as she could that it wasn't supervillain related. "...So it looks like its someone related to the business side of things, shadowy or otherwise. Who do you wish to start with?"
  22. She stilled smiled but it was now more a sad smile, with maybe a trace of regret on her face. "Time and life may have softened me some, but I have always been and will probably remain a warrior at heart. My training is as one in the middle of the melee fighting to protect myself and my fellows. Don't think I consider myself stupid or incapable of making discussions, but in warfare you can have concerns about anything but the victory." Another brief pause as she considered her words "Warriors are the worse people to make those calls, at best they are enforcers. And I'm not sure you want or need someone to enforce your codex."
  23. Scarabs Toughness Save: 1d20+12 18, she's not having the best of luck today! Scarab will go for the auditory dazzle on the group DC20 Fort for all!
  24. Kamala swore under her breath as another shot went through her field, causing a bruise that would need to be explained tomorrow. Even as she cursed herself she was planning improvements to the field to hopefully reduce this problem. Obviously, a direct force wasn't the current solution at this moment so she needed a delaying tactic to determine another more definitive methodology. "Safiya activate subsonic field target on the identified targets," she whispered to her built-in computer systems The sonic weapon began to project a subsonic field around the area that the thugs were clustered around, it would hopefully subdue them without them even knowing where it originated from.
  25. "I've not lived as long as you but I saw the hate and pain of the First World War and I lived among humanity at its worse and also at it best. And I'm sure Immortals are capable of much worse, but anything that guides them should be a thing of passion and heart, just a dry document would not achieve anything. So it is good that you show such passion for this thing." She gently reached out and touched his hand a smile playing across her face. "I've heard many empty documents that promise much and deliver nothing, but this codex is not one of them! Now how do you plan to enforce those you break this agreement?"
