Praetorians Assemble!
Tiffany Korta replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in The Lighthouse: Catchphrase!
How about we do this backwards then? We'll start with the Praetorian's scouting systems near CoVic and on the edge of Lor territory for old bases when they come across the refugees et al. Then if things work out we can have them looking into to who caused all this disruption. Not that we can't keep working out the details as things are rumbling along. -
Praetorians Assemble!
Tiffany Korta replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in The Lighthouse: Catchphrase!
That would be great AA thanks! So maybe have the some of the Praetorians deal with an influx of refugees into this region of space whilst others look into what causing people to flee that region of space, though obviously, we'll have to tread lightly with potential similarities with current events. I don't want to hit too many of the Incursion beats so the aliens probably won't be an overpowered threat to the major stellar powers, just mysterious enough to make people nervous about everything happing. Still very much open to others if they have idea they want to share! -

South Pointe, Miami Beach 10th July 2017, Early Afternoon One of the places you went to in Miami if you wanted to see and be seen it was Miami Beach and today the one place to be seen was the extravagant beachside party to celebrate the coming of age of heiress Ruth Aster. The entire party had been painstakingly designed around an Ancient Egyptian theme, from the Hollywood accurate costumes of the staff to the slightly less accurate but much more expensive designer dress that Ms. Aster wore. The whole party area was even decorated with Ancient Egyptian art, the center pieces being two massive, and real, statues of Horus and Set towering over the party and glaring at each other. The guest list was a veritable who's, who of the business and entertainment world with rumors abound that Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella had been invited due to the suitably timed themed. One thing that Ruth had wanted, and had sent feelers through almost every media method for weeks, was for Ancient Egyptian themed superheroes, with a promise of a very generous donation to their charity of choice if they'd turn up to the party to meet the young heiress.

From her purse, Dancia pulled out a lower end cell phone in a protective case of yellow and blue that suggested her's or more probably Centurions color scheme. "I always carry around a cheap burner phone for my superhero activities, obviously with all the tracing stuff turned well off." As she talked she began to play around the cell activating the stuff that they'd need for this plan "I don't even have my own call details linked between the two just in case, I mean how tacky would it be for me to be my own source!" She handed the cell to Bonfire before taking out a larger fancier phone, the case showing a photo of a rather grumpy looking yellow cat, to hook the two cells together.

Agnus had the confidence of a hundred lifetimes plus the pretty full on life she was enjoying so far in this body so wasn't one to be embarrassed in the slightest, but she didn't want to get in trouble for corrupting a young mind. "I have such tales to tell of aerial shenanigans, but perhaps the first meet up isn't the time or place to discuss such things. At least on the plus side, I wouldn't dream of telling you to wait until you older." As smoothly as she could she quickly changed the subject to something that was, she hoped, a much better footing "How is school going for you?"

“Thank you, sir, I shall take you advice onboard.” Whilst she'd spent a lot of time practicing back home, and more since coming to Claremont, the Shetlands wasn't exactly bursting with supervillains and she'd not often had to test her mettle against a serious opponent. "I tend to be much more mobile when I'm fighting, I have this pretty neat ice slide I normally use to get around. But space here is pretty limited and I didn't want to damage you lovely dojo here." she paused and gathered her thoughts a little before continuing "I guess I need to practice a lot more in these kind of environments

"Oh I wasn't suggesting you were trying to poison us or anything for Science!" she blushed a little thinking she'd said the wrong thing "It's just the business side of things takes a lot of time and effort to achieve success, though I guess you're pretty methodically about these kinds of things..." She followed them out of the bathroom trying to process everything that Fred was saying. "Do you think tattoo inks are a good idea though? I mean I believe it's legal and stuff for us, but I suspect the school would take a dim view of us getting inked up!"

Peri didn’t rise to the bait to ask about how he knew about the Spdr Rig, especially as much of the inner workings was off the shelf equipment and being from this town a good portion of it was from Mars Tech. Besides, there was no way he could connect anything back to Peri, as far as she knew he couldn't know exactly who she was. And she definitely wasn't going to play his little games for his amusement. "Look, Mr. Mars, as much fun as this whole fifty questions game would be, we all have lots of important things that we need to be doing. So how about we skipped to the part where you tell us what you know, or deny everything, and we can get on with our respective days. If it helps you any you can pretend that I asked the perfect Genie proof questions that meant you had to spill everything you know about all this."

Whilst the cops might not be competent enough to plant a listening device, they were still savvy enough to pull a Columbo (it saddened Liam that Rosa knew obscure Aztec rituals but his younger companion didn't know about Columbo). So he pottered around the office tidying up, accidentally deleting the message just in case. So on the plus side, we helped someone today but as usual, we didn't get paid. Plus the place has been trashed again, and that was my favorite mug as well! They would have trashed my library, the books are filed in a very specific order they'd have put them back willy nilly or even worse. Liam could feel Rosa trying to take over so focused on this one thing, that was admittedly important to her. But first, he needed to think through a few idea whilst he had her attention. We need to do a little footwork and find out exactly what's going on here, but they've bound to have staked out the place so we'll wait awhile just in case. He was counting on them only being worth a couple of hours of watching top, as they would expect most people to be dumb enough to go straight to whoever they were working with. Most criminals were either stupid or working with the cops, so it didn't breed a diligent work ethic. So I guess for now we'll wait, and you can sort out your books...- 17 replies

So I'd like to get something going for those of us still interested in the Praetorians to do, but me being me I though it'd be sensible to get a few volunteers to run a few connected threads. What I was thinking was that whilst everything with the Lor get's shaken out we could have them deal with a threat on the "other side" of the local arm, I'm open to ideas as to who and what this threat could be and why they get involved.

GM Post Graduation Day, a few years later... Whilst they'd kept infrequently in touch Sakurako had been so busy with AEGIS the last few years she'd almost forgotten what had happened with Valeria. So it was a bit of surprise when she'd received an invitation to Valeria's graduation. Luckily Sakurako's schedule meant she could be in the country and free for the day, she wouldn't be surprised if the thing had been arranged what with the connections AEGIS had at the school. Still, even then she'd only just managed to arrive just before the ceremony began, what with all the myriad crisis having been solved before she'd arrived. It was strange to see the odd familiar face from her time at Claremont, what with everything that had happened since she herself had graduated.

Agnus gave a, mostly, mock bristle at the comment before adding herself. “That’s from Bristol, nothing like my proper London accent.” she dropped into her thick East London accent sounding similar to Adele, there was no malice though and she gave a big grin before returning to her more tone down accent. “If you want I can take you flying, there’s nothing quite like soaring up into the air and seeing the city below you. Also, lot’s of... interesting thing you can get up to away from prying eyes!”

GM Post Ms. Khan was quiet for a few minutes as she considered what Sakurako was offering, before looking up and giving a smile. "Well I've not arranged who is going to carry out the detention, and I believe senior students, like yourself, are allowed to assume more responsibility in such circumstances. If someone decided that finishing the project was a suitable way to learn their lesson well it would be churlish of me not to mark the project..." She started to fill out some paperwork, carrying on speaking as she did so "It will be a lot of time and effort on your part, but I'm sure that you can more than rising to the occasion. And obviously such things will look good to future employers, and more importantly, it's something that the Headmistress will look fondly upon."

GM Post The landing bay was a cavernous space barebone with none of the sleek lines and brights colors of most Lor ships. Framed by the blue glow of the planet though the launch bay's forcefield was a small group of Lor, apparently, the ships was currently run by a skeleton crew during its shakedown. Guarding them was a ragtag crew of aliens pirates, many from the nearby Khanate, their attention wasn't on the Lor at the moment their attention was on Sitara who had done something she'd called unexpected. Tucked behind one of the boxy shuttles they'd found a good vantage point to watch the pirates, and access the ship's computer to gather the necessary data. Then she decided that she'd distract the pirates so the others could come up with a plan to rescue the Lor prisoners.

GM Post The next morning Sakurako was surprised when she arrived at Dr. Khan's office to find that Valeria was already in the office, looking suitably crestfallen. Divina flashed Sakurako a quick smile before waving her into the office, before returning back to the serious tone that seemed appropriate. "Ms. Velasquez has been telling me that you'd both had an interesting experience last night. It seems words you had an effect on Ms. Velasquez." She put her hand on her chin and looked at Valeria with a very stern serious look. "This could have been a very serious thing but I think Ms. Hino got to you just in time. This year you'll be disallowed from the competition and I've arranged for you to spend the rest of the term in detention, you'll be spending the time learning proper ethics of using your powers wisely. But apart from that, you'll suffer no other punishments, I hope you've learned your lesson." With a silent mournful nod, Valeria accepted and was then dismissed from the office. "You did a good thing today Ms. Hino, I'd be happy to give you a glowing reference for when you graduate from this prestigious academy. I also know a few people who could use your talents out there in the real world."

GM Post Everything was silver and a sense of being extremely close and also very far away at the same time. And then darkness. After a few moments, your eyes adjusted to see that you were once again in the warehouse, and whilst it was difficult to tell not much time had passed since they left. Though thankfully the Duke had apparently fled the scene. And the mirror simply showed there normal reflection. The other side of the mirror... "It's pretty straight forward I just concentrate and reabsorb you both. This might tickle a little." There was a momentary feeling again of knowing and seeing all of Merge's and Nicki's senses at the same time and the strange feeling of you bodies suddenly knowing what had just happened to its brain. And then you were back in the chamber in Shambala where they'd left on this incredible journey.

Yeah it's just fluff for the Diplomacy.

To the person they were here to talk to Miss Grue did nothing just floating slightly above the ground with her arms crossed. But it was mostly an act, Daphne knew how these scenes tended to go and were trying to unnerve them into revealing something important. She was also helping the others find out if what the prisoner was saying was the full truth. I'm just going to feed you her emotional state, so you can see if she's telling the truth. I won't be reading anyone's minds I promise. If you need me for anything else just think it and I'll pick the thoughts up. It wasn't true mind reading, she'd found that humans found such things... unsettling, more a gathering of surface thoughts and emotions that she gathered. To help Aquaria process it all she projected the words around the prisoner, like that British detective show she'd watched.

"I apologize if I was too forthright in my opinions, as you can tell it's something that is very dear to my heart. And it is the way of my people to speak the truth when they see it, and my forthrightness in such things have led me to trouble many times before." Klara left unsaid some of the details that were an old bone of contention between herself and Dimitri on such matters, now was not the time to open any more old wounds. "And Dimitri is of cause right in that it's completely up to you what you do. But I would just add that it is also something that you should consider sooner rather than later."

Klara took the baby with some care and gently rocked Emily, whilst singing to her quietly in her own tongue. As she did her brow was slightly furrowed as if she was carefully considering something. Then carefully transferring the infant to one arm, she got out a picture and showed it to Erik. The pictured showed a family carefully arranged around Klara, three young women and someone who looked like their Gran, who Klara was holding rather tenderly. "This is Tracy." she pointed to the older woman "Who I fell completely in love with when I first met her in 1961, as she did with me, and we've been together every since until today. When I first met her we looked almost the same age, and whilst were lucky enough that she got treatments from my own people, she now looks old enough to be my own mother. Soon I will look younger than my own children who I spent the last few decades looking after." She paused for a few seconds and rocked the baby, obviously affected by what she was saying. "Neither of us want to talk about it but we're both aware that we might not have that many more years together."
