Starshine When Starshine had started her day she hadn’t expected to end up in a mock Japanese castle watching troops experience illusions (she hoped) of massive monstrous whatever’s. Still it wasn’t time to worry about such things, onwards to find out what was going on and figure out what this was all about. “I’m going to make a break for it, if you need a life let me know!” Hopefully, their luck would hold out and she wouldn’t have to worry about just who the guards were and how good they were!

Starshine Rosalind spent a few minutes listening to her mom, trying to keep an eye on everything going down with everyone else. “Love you mom, gotta go!” she looked at her bracelet and added “Did you get that all?” in response the alien artefact gave a confused sound. Called finished she looked up, quickly figuring out she’d missed something, something probably important. “What did I miss?”

Traveller Tucking the Power Spear into a comfortable position, from centuries of practice, she held up her arm and activated her wrist computer causing an image of the ship to flash into life. “I agree the Engine Core is a good place to begin, and it means we can look into one of these rear turrets on the way!” she gestured to one of the rear-facing turrets. It was a safe bet, in this circumstance they wouldn’t be active but it would show willingness on both sides to treat this seriously. “I always say that an Engine Core tells a lot about how a ship operates, so let us go see this one in operation!”

Traveller “Oh I like him, can we keep them?” Sitara said in an exaggerated whisper after Rex-01’s report, despite everything she was at still an Engineer at heart. As they left the shuttle she retracted her power armour, revealing her dress uniform. She wasn’t a fan of the thing, tugging it down to fit better, but diplomacy was diplomacy and after all her time travelling she’d picked up a thing of two. In the same vein she didn’t act surprised by the Justicar’s offer, though she was a little, but she gave a suitable level (low enough to show respect but not weakness) offering out her hands to accept the power staff. She was by most metrics the most senior of the Praetorians after all! “You honour us with your generous offer of peace. I shall personally guard this badge of honour until we can place it somewhere secure.” She couldn’t help but notice that the Staff had several designs borrowed from her own Power Pike, though obviously they had gone for power over flexibility. Though now probably wasn’t the time to mention such things…

The Traveller Sitara had not long returned from another bout of wanderlust, going out to explore part of the borders she’d not been to for a few thousand years. In fact, she’d only come back recently to CoVic after hearing rumours about events in the Khanate. She’d almost considered going back into the Khanate but figure, correctly as it seemed, Sitara figured she could be more useful back on the station. “The fact that they’ve not attacked yet is (I hope) a good sign. It’s unlikely they would have gone to all this trouble if they just wanted to gain some kind of revenge.” she then gave a little shrug “Or I’m going off of too much adrenaline and too little sleep. Either way, we still need to be cautious.”

Starshine Things were going great, she actually sounded like a real superhero and something. And it seemed to be doing some good, they were speaking at least. Of course, such perfection was never going to last and she’d subtly looked at her cell as the conversation reached something resembling an important point. “Erm I have a small family drama…” she leaned in to whisper into her friend's ear “...nothing important but I might have to leave in a hurry.” she was genuinely sorry that this was happening right now “Mom this is a really bad time…” as with further bad timing she couldn’t really ignore the call “Give me a few minutes and I’ll call you back, I can probably pick something up in the city…” she whispered loudly into the phone trying not to distribute the others.

Starshine Rosalind was caught for a moment watching the show that Neko was doing downstairs, it was an impressive display and for a moment she forgot what needed to be done. Luckily Gawain got his attention back, she didn’t understand the language but she could work out the intent. Acting quickly she ducked inside the tower and threw on the cloak, as long as they didn’t look at her feet things should go rosy. Time was a wasting so she started to move deep into the building, hopefully some answers to be found inside.

The Immutable Betsy Brooks “I run on Cigarettes and Alcohol…” she paused before adding sheepishly “You probably had to be there, feel luck that I didn’t inherit my father’s tastes” This grin showed off her sharpened canine, and a tip of the sunglasses to show the glow behind the eyes. She left off the part about that being the extent of her vampire powers. “If it’s supernatural in nature I’d been naturally immune, though I’d be buggered if I could tell you the how’s and why’s. Though I have know enough people, and have enough favours that could be cashed in if you need a second opinion.”

The Immutable Betsy Brooks From the shadow came the light of a cigarette and Betsy stepped out holding a (mostly) full bottle of Jacks. “Nice trick kid, personally when I was your age I liked to beat up skinheads on a Saturday night. The bad kind obviously, they deserved the kicking believe me!” She smiled as much at the memory than to be friendly, the Jack was a helpful buzz but Betsy was in general friendly when she wanted to be. “Those Cape in there are all good people, but they won’t understand not like an old punk like me! So indulge an old girl and tell me what the problem is?”

Centuria Power Level: 7 (105/105PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: "None" In Brief: Daughter of the Greatest of Heroes has to live up to her legacy. Theme: (Optional) A theme song for the character. Alternate Identity: Katherine "Kate" Melita Devon-Leeds (Secret) Birthplace: The Sanctum, Thor Island Residence: Freedom City Base of Operations: Claremont School Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Family: Mark Leeds (Presumed Deceased), Dancia Leeds (Presumed Deceased), Dancia Devons (Step-Dimensional Mom) Description: Age: 16 (DoB: 9th October 2007) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Mixed Height: 5'7" Weight: 130 lbs. Eyes: Brown Hair: White Blonde It is tough to stand out when the school's uniform is the classic costume worn by the family, but Kate tries her best. Over the top of a blue jumpsuit, she wears a short gold jacket instead of the gold breastplate of her parents. She wears regular blue trainers, though because they don't tend to last they're relatively cheap. With natural blonde hair making her stand out, she relies on colour-changing nanites to recolour it in her civilian identity, normally black, and the old standby of a pair of glasses. Clothing wise she wears stylish but comfortable clothes, normally relatively cheap as you can only do so much with your mom on a reporter's salary! History: On an Earth, much like Prime the two refuges of Pax Roma, Centurion and Triakosia, arrived at roughly the same time. And with no one else able to understand just what they lost they began a friendship that slowly turned into love. Married the two continued to be the world's premier superhero, with only a slight slowdown when the two had their child, Kate. But saving the world comes with risks and the two heroes faced an opponent that they knew was near impossible to defeat, so with a heavy heart they went off to fight for their adopted world. But before they left Dancia used a portal in The Sanctum to hand off their young daughter to the Prime Earth's Dancia so she could be raised safely once they were gone. The link was lost and neither of them were able to find that Earth again, so they assumed that indeed both of them had bravely fallen in battle. Despite being on her own, her Centurion was a cat and hence little use in child rearing, Dancia raised Kate as her own trying to keep her away (mostly) from the superhero community so she could have a relatively normal upbringing. As much as you could with one of the world's most powerful heroes as your (step) mom. But as Kate came into her teens her powers began to manifest, more slowly than either of her parents, and wanting to do good she got into a few scrapes against more experienced villains. So bowing to the inevitable, Dancia arranged for Kate to go to Claremont in the Fall, though she really isn't sure about the name she'd chosen... Personality & Motivation: Kate is friendly, kind, and generous, willing to drop everything to help a friend at a moment's notice. She also despite her best efforts not cool, though she's in that group where she is generally left alone from trouble, when not standing up against bullies. One mistake many make is to equate that friendly optimism with naivety when her mom has always made sure to keep her ground and be aware of the ways of the world, good and bad. Powers & Tactics: Kate's inherited her family's instincts when faced with a threat is to make sure that innocents are kept away from any possible danger, if she can she'll draw the danger away from them or failing that remove them from any potential harm. Only then when everyone is safe will she turn her attention to defeating the enemy, even if that means taking a bit of a beating. Power Descriptions: Whilst she had inherited the near invulnerable both of her parents she has yet to develop all of their powers, including that of flight. It seems that her body naturally absorbs this energy in her day-to-day life and as she ages her full range of powers will eventually develop. At the moment she's just incredibly strong and durable whilst being able to leap a quarter of a mile in a single bound. Complications: Just a Normal Teenage Girl: Kate is trying to be, as much as possible, a perfectly normal teenage girl. The Bigger they are...: It's impossible not to be aware of the legacy of her heritage and, despite being repeatedly told she doesn't have to, feel the need to fill those very big shoes. To that end, she tends to bite off much more than she can handle, may that be a natural disaster or a powerful supervillain. Triakosia Dancia had once done a story about high-society women and how they were introduced to it all through a big fancy dance. With Katherine, Katie was off the table for now, hitting fifteen and Claremont beckoning it was time to let her meet some of the city's heroes. Triakosia landed a short distance away, as Katherine couldn’t fly more than a series of long jumps. They were wearing similar costumes and looked almost like sisters, rather than Daughter and (step) Mother (it was complicated), not ageing was nice but it did mean dressing your (apparent) age so people didn’t notice. Young Centuria, she pointed ignored the actual Latin-speaking Dancia pointing out that it didn’t mean what she thought it did, and looked around excitedly at all the supers young and old that had gathered at today’s party.

The Immutable Betsy Brooks Such was the way of things, one minute you were flirting with a dragon the next you were lost in the crowd. Betsy tended to be a realist about such thing, though maybe she should look up that Lung she’d meet in London’s Chinatown. Still, philosophy was never something to do sober, so she put her cigarette in her mouth and began patting herself down on the rare chance her matches had survived, whilst carrying out the important task of hunting for something alcoholic.

The Immutable Betsy Brooks “I’m flattered darling, but a girl's got to recover after a day like I’ve had. And no offense but I’ve been thrown out of much more prodigious locations than this!” She somewhat flirtatiously smiled, not quite showing as many sharpened teeth but defiantly more prominent eye teeth. “The name’s Betsy Brooks…” she offered a hand all lady like “I’m a… freelance problem solver for the supernatural community. Not as important as the work you lovely people do, but I like to think I help in my own little way!”

Starshine To be honest, Rosalind hadn’t expected to get this far, her glowing aura normally disallowed anything resembling stealth, so for a moment or two she thought about what to do next. They’d need to find out what was going on and chances were better if she was inside the building rather than on the wall. So with the soldiers distracted by Neko, she never failed to surprise with her skills Rosalind found, Starshine made a break for the building keeping an eye out for anything that could be used as a disguise. Hopefully, her luck would hold for just a few minutes longer…

Starshine Rosalind’s family wasn’t particularly well off, but they were incredibly house-proud and had kept things spotless even when they had nothing. But she was trying really hard not to judge, Shamong wasn’t Freedom City and she’d never had to grow up in these circumstances. So instead she tried to radiate confidence, which she didn’t have, and friendliness, which she luckily had in spades. “No Ma’am, not that that’s a bad thing obviously…” she added just loud enough for Consuelo to hear “… I’m just a normal kid from New Jersey that got luckily” Normally at Claremont she softened her accent, a lot of the less local students would struggle to understand her, but now she allowed her thick New Jersey accent to shine through. “My name is Starshine and it’s a pleasure to meet you, Mz Nunez, I have the pleasure of being a good colleague of your daughter!” no need to lie about that one.

The Immutable Betsy Brook It was meant to be a simple job, collect some movie from a vampire in Freedom City before flying back to the UK for crimbo. What she wasn’t expecting was some werewolf action due to some undead Romeo and Juliet-type stuff. The job was done but a perfectly good blouse was sacrificed in the process! Picking up a Freedom League jersey, the closest place that wouldn’t involve a complicated fashion montage, Betsy saw that the party and figured why the heck not, she was “technically” a super after all! Slipping past the greeter she made her way to the snack table, she’d not eaten all day after all, to a sight she’d not expected today. “Either you’re a bloody dragon, or they’re putting more than baccy in these things!” she gestured to a cigarette tucked behind her ear, she’d given up (again) but it’d been a long a tiring day.
-
Starshine Without thinking Starshine put herself between her friend and the gun, her aura glowing brightly. She’d been told that she should be able to take a bullet, but she didn’t particularly want to test the theory. “Sir I don’t think that’s a very good idea, please put down the gun so we can talk about this.” she put her arms out to show that she wasn’t going to cause any harm. The Bracelet gave confused warbling sounds, as an intelligent weapon it was still amazed by someone who chose conciliation over conflict.

Starshine Rosalind began to glow faintly as she started to hover a few inches above the ground, and as she always did she fished her flying goggles out of her pocket and put them on her head. “Well it seems that my powers are working okay!” she looked at the others, thought this thing was still super weird for a simple girl from New Jersey “Should I maybe scout things out from the sky? They did say we should be all sneaky like!”

Starshine “On my honor as Junior Leaguer #252!” she gave a little salute along with a huge grin Her point made she made a roll to fly alongside trying better to match her speed with Consuelo, before noticing the cloud over Lincoln. She pointed it out to her teenage companion. “I’m sure the local heroes can deal with it, but if we’ve got the time we could maybe do a quick fly pass?” she kept her tone neutral, one of the big lessons they taught you at Claremont was you couldn’t, and shouldn’t, try and deal with every issue. It was a big city and lots of heroes out there to help the citizens.
-
Starshine Rosalind could never imagine four years ago that conversations about leprechauns would be normal subjects of conversation. To be fair she still sometimes had to remind herself that at Claremont this was what passed as normal. “With that whole mess with the ghost trapping me in our theatre a few months back, I guess the two of us really aren’t destined for the entertainment industry!” she smiled as she helped herself to another cookie. “Why did it do that for?” she tried her hardest to banish ideas of pots of gold and lucky charms from her mind, she was sure any nearby telepaths would be proud of her efforts.
