Love Is a Many Splendored Thing Spring will soon be upon us and in honour of a certain special day we've decided to celebrate love in all its myriad ways. So for this month's vignette we’d like you to tell us a story of your character being in love in the past, present or future. It can any be any form of love, both good and bad, but if it’s just physical love remember the sites PG-13 and keep such things to a tasteful fade to black. Post your vignette in this thread by midnight of Monday, February 29 st so that it can be included in this month's post counts.

Cathy had been quiet for quite some time trying to both take everything in and decide if she was going to treat this simulation seriously. It was strange to watch as one by one her friends got involved in the whole thing. Oh well time for her to get involved as well. “I think it’s best Mr President if we plan all this away from the here, that way you can honestly claim you didn’t know the details of what we decide.” after a second she added “Though we’re not saying that we’re going to carry out this mission of yours.” As much as she wanted to test her skills against what she guest was a cold controller, like her, she wasn’t completely convinced that they should go ahead and take out these missiles.

“I believe he does refer to this person, surfacers aren’t always aware of the various ranks of Atlantians.” not knowing much about Atlantians she had chosen a rough intimidation of a posh English accent, all the Ancient Greeks on TV seemed to use such an accent which was close enough for her. “I believe her refers to the surfacers vessel to visit the wreck, he doesn’t have the means to reach the vessel otherwise.” Her time watching television had given her a rather broad education, useful at times like this. “But we can’t help you get you stuff back unless you tell us the whole truth Mr. Harris”

Cathy had some trouble keeping track of everything that was going on, probably something mystical that despite her best effort she’d never been able to follow whenever the subject came up. It didn't help that Talya was quite a pleasant distract, all that Raina had told her hadn’t done her justice. “Is that who you were telling me about? I can see what you like about the place.” She could've quite happily worked out in her normal sensible jumper combination, she came with her own built in cooling and hadn’t sweated since she’d changed, but to fit in a little better she shed her customary jumper for something a little more suitable.

Sitara had been on her way over the phoney dockside workers, already planning to see if they were quite as they seemed. Though obviously that was completely redundant as the they chose to reveal themselves as criminals. Still she was in a postions to use this to her advantage deploying her body armour with just a thought and drawing her unique blasters. With a nimble manipulations of the blaster unique controls she sent a wide stunning beam from her weapon towards the assembled crooks. It was really nice of them to arrange themselves in a tightly knitted group like that.

Drinking in the atmosphere of the place Sitara had missed the initial contact with the two Terran’s, though it was impossible to missed when Rock started to make there way across the room. It didn’t take long for her to spot Nae-Dae and put two and two together. Whilst she loved a good bar brawl as much as the next they couldn’t risk starting a fight with someone as unpredictable as this Spectrum Knight. Whilst she could clear a path as easily as Rock she had many hours of weaving through crowd and managed to get to the table a little ahead of her ally. Normally she liked a little more time to plan but for now she’d have to improvise a little her. “Hello there I think there might have been a bit of a misunderstanding here. Maybe I could help you come to something of an understanding?” hoping that these were the Terran she used her newly learned English, before repeating things in Galstandard so everyone had an idea of what she was doing.

Blodeuwedd was following rapidly behind on one of the building running alongside the road the car was due to arrive soon. “Trust me I know this kind of thing, just try not cause as much trouble as last time.” From her vantage point she had a pretty good view of what was going on and it didn’t take her long to spot that someone else had joined their little chase. “Look’s like we’re not the only one interested in the chase. Anyone we know? Freedom get’s so many powers that it impossible to keep up with them all.”

Daphne wasn’t quite sure why she had been chosen to be the missions reporter, but gosh darn if she wasn’t going to be the best reporter she could. She’d been following everyone around for most of the morning making copious note and taking pictures of everything going on around them. She didn’t need her empathic powers to tell that people were quite nervous, though they certainly helped, but she was quite calm herself. It helped that she’d actually visited the teeny-tinyverse, or whatever the proper name was, before and had some idea of what to expect. Though it hadn’t needed quite so much preparation that time and was a lot more unexpected.

There was something comforting about Cantina that left Sitara in a good mode, mostly because in all her time they seemed to change so very little. The decor or the aliens might be different and the food and drink would change but fundamentally they were the same. As much as she enjoyed serving with the Praetorians she also love crashing at dives like this living on her wits and a charged blaster. Cause they were also places where it was easy to hide if you wanted, people tended to come and go and most patrons dislike talking to any kind of authority. But that just made things more of a challenge. “It was a very, very long time ago but I still remember what it was like when I found myself abandoned alone among the stars. Before I settle down i spent a long time looking for anything familiar to latch onto a friendly face or a language I recognized among the babble. I figure that’s a pretty good place to start looking for our fugitives.”

“I’m said I’m sorry! No one knew that I was so linked to the weather back home, at leasts it’s not so cold now...” when upset or nervous her Scottish burr became much stronger The pale girl was dressed as normal for the cold weather with a knitted jumper of someone working out, though she’d discarded her normal green Parka. She’d at first resisted coming her to train until Raina had pointed out other reason to come and train here and right now she could see what she was talking about. “Thank you for having us here, you have a nice place here.”

Since arriving on Earth Daphne’s psychic powers had been growing, including an emphatic sense. Not that she needed it to now there was a lot of tension with the arrival of this new family member, she supposed she’d react much the same if her “father” had turned up on the doorstep. So she followed instructions and ducked out of sight, but she wasn’t going to sit idly by, she flashed the man’s image to Mother Unit. Mother Unit could you run this face through the files, I like to know who he is and what he’s done. Is he dangerous? I don’t think you should stay if he’s dangerous. Mother Unit sounded concerned about her daughter. I’m not sure but I’d like to be ready, if trouble starts feel free to contact the authorities. For now she’d have to just allow the family to work things out among themselves, this as far as she could tell was how families normally behaved during Thanksgiving. Hopefully like on the show she watched they’d come to happy consolidation.

“When the mirrors shattered the link with our world was broken, except the link I share with Merge.” she tapped the side of her head “We should be able to restore the link with this world from the inside. Brother Kanpo believes that he can project you minds into bodied created by Merge, we’ll be linked but not so much as to share thoughts. Though we might share emotional feelings, so you’ll have to be careful there.” She sipped her coffee hiding a small grin . “As for you friend I have some good news...” Another Dimension The inside of the mirror so far looked rather like a elevator lobby, done in the extravagant Art Deco style. Two old fashion elevator stood at one end the only destination on the dial being Tellus, though both claimed to be out of order. The rich blue carpet was covered with shards of glass who along with a sprawled Gretchen who’d recently been spat from one of the elevator. Above her came the form of Merge who offered a hand to help her up “Well I have some good news and some bad news...” something about her tone and voice sounded subtly different, a lot less sarcasm and disdain in her voice.

Once the elevator had stopped and the others had made a move out she’d changed herself into her ice form, chilling the air around her, ready for just about anything the Room could throw at them. She wasn’t expecting the Oval office, something she’d seem millions of time on television and movies. Felling a little self conscious she took down her hood and shuffled behind those that were sitting down for the briefing. “Oh aye good Americans here.” she mumbled just loud enough for her fellow teens to hear. All this was so far in the past and she remembered nothing about this period, they must have made it through as they were standing here to do this simulation. “Aye and I bet Cuba had a hero or two to call their own. And what do we do if we succeed? I’m sure the Russians will be unhappy if we succeed.”

Cathy followed her friends into the elevator racking her brains trying to remember all the different iterations of the League. Scottish school didn't teach much about the old leagues, focusing mostly on local heroes, and whilst Claremont did teach more about the League she couldn't remember much about the old teams. "This isn't my strongest subject anyway so I'm probably running blind anyway. I guess we'll be okay as long as we don't repeat any past mistakes." She hadn't been in the Doom Room with her friends, but most of her other times had been disasters

“I’m surprised that she didn’t try to recruit her to the plastics, mega rich girl seems to be right up her alley.” Cathy was following up the rear trying to keep up in her two friend, Merlin was getting a free ride and didn’t count. She was apparently dressed for the coldest of weather with her parka zipped right up to the top and her furry hood pulled up over her head. And even then then the temperature around her was still colder than everywhere else. “I’m sure she’s perfectly normal, well as normal as anyone get’s at this school.” She gave a little wave to Riley and Huang before waiting to find out what they in store for them today.

GM Post With everyone arriving there was a round of introductions as Klara quickly explained the situation and who she was. Then with a little encouraging the old began to tell his tale, deftly translated by Klara: I come from a small village in the foothills of the Altai mountains one steeped with tradition and tales of the spirits that filled the world around us. Every now and then a few were born with the ability to sense spirit’s moods, shaman touched they were called, and I had such a gift. I could have stayed and learned the ways of the mountains, but I was young and wanted to explore the world. But even now I get the odd feeling when a nearby spirit or beast is unhappy, normally it’s nothing but today I felt something both amazing and frightening. With the earthquakes I got the feeling that something, something far below the Earth is unhappy about something and unless something is done they wish to do harm to those above on the surface. I think they might have had something taken from them, though I don’t know for sure I only get the vaguest of impressions. Klara put a comforting hand upon the old man shoulder and turned to the other gathered heroes. “As out there as it sound I believe he’s telling the truth. And I think I know a place where we could try and talk to these spirits, if any of you are up to a journey into the desert?”

With an almost comically look of confusion on her face Cathy was momentarily torn as to what to do, stay with her friends or take a chance with this girl. Not that she’d normally do anything quite so bold, but currently she was bolstered by the happy buzz of the sugary alcohol she’d just consumed. A quick glance at her two friends to see that they’d both seemed to have found company of their own, and she knew both could look after themselves very well. Her mind made up she made to follow the two girls onto the dance floor to dance alongside, definitely not with, them.

With a smile Nikki pushed out a chair and poured a couple of cups of the coffee. “I bought a stash of the stuff we me through my troubles, I suggest you take it black though the milk they have here is a bit of an acquired taste.” She waited for the two to get themselves comfortable before getting right down to business. “I won’t bore you with the details but there was very good reason for why I, why Merge, did what we did. Once we achieved that I needed some time to find myself and work out what to do next, my activities meant I had enough money to live comfortably but that wasn’t quite enough. So I left Freedom City and went hiking around the world, like any normal teenager I guess.” she gave a grin and sipped her coffee “After a couple of years bumming around China I found myself here and more amazingly I found myself in Shabala! Though I think it’s fair to say that the monks allowed me to find the place, obviously they found something about me interesting.” she gave a little shrug “I’ve been working on increasing my mental link with Merge, it’s why I could project her halfway around the world to try and help you out. But you wondering why exactly that means I dragged you out here, even if the views are amazing.” Another grin from the young girl, whilst there was a lot of Merge in her mannerism she seemed a lot less in your face than her “heroic” persona. “And the good news is that I’m still in contact with her and wherever the mirror takes people, and even better she’s with your friend. And even better I think that with the monk’s help we can do something similar than what this Duke did to hijack Merge and put you both in the same place. Though obviously there’s some risk with the whole thing.”

Blodeuwedd sat at a vantage point that allowed her an almost perfect vantage point of the chase that was going on below. And not by accident she’d spent many years getting to know the city and it’s layout, it was a place she’d felt completely at home. Which was quite ironic for a girl who grew up in a tiny hidden village in the Welsh mountains. “Take a left Tona and follow it down, it should let you catch up to the car. I’m on my way, leave something for me.” Taking her own grapple from her belt she made her way to catch up with her friends, and the trouble they’d gotten themselves into.

Daphne was in a little whirl of excitement she’d got to help cook, without any major disasters on her part, and eaten a really meal with real people. And apart from mild distrust from Granny Cline everyone seemed happy to have her around, it was just like you standard television families the type that didn’t end up arguing all the time. Now she was at a bit of a loss and was considering quietly slipping away, with a thank you note of cause, when she heard the knocking at the door. Happy to be helpful to the family she wandered over to the door to peek through the little spy thing to see who was there.
