Starshine Rosalind was in a bind, she didn’t think she was really suited for this team let alone this field trip. But she wasn’t going to be late to anything, her Granny would have given her such a stare and maybe a talking to for being anything but before time. After a slightly sleepless night trying to figure it out she’d settled on a bulky sweatshirt to try and blend into the background as much as possible. “Erm are we expecting trouble with all this? Because I’m happy to sit this out for a real heavy hitter?” she said quietly, not really wanting to draw to much attention either way. Maybe if she just stayed in the car, metaphorically no one would miss her?

Starshine A faint aura of light surrounded Rosalind and she floated a few inched off the floor, distracted by trying to figure a reasonable answer she didn’t realise that she was now floating. “It’s kind of difficult to explain, they don’t exactly communicate with me directly. I mean they make these beeping noises but I can’t tell what it’s trying to say. Though sometimes I get impressions of what it wants, and these really vivid dreams now and again.” She was lost for a second in memories of strange alien landscape that she’d seen in these dreams, not something a girl from New Jersey would expect to see. “A the Headmistress say that the bracelet hadn’t reacted to anyone before, so that must mean it chose me right?”

Madame Raven “Huh weird! Guess we’ll add ghost kitties to the list of Claremont things!” with a shrug Callie turned her attention back to the newcomers “Callie Sen’s please to meet you!” she gave a friendly grin “Good to see you’ve already setting in nicely, are you two friends or family?” she asked genuinely interested. She kind of hated, well hate was to strong a word, that older her had give her this responsibility she was more bothered at just how easily she fell into the role. She guested that such things must be in the gene’s considering how both her did so effortlessly, must be from her mom she mused.

Lucy Harker Looking up at the movie posters mounted on the wall Lucy mused that she was actually older than these classics, except for Nosferatu that made her frown due to her own origins. In fact she remembered coming to the Orpheum on a date, nice kid, they made it in about a third of the way through Lure of Ambition. That was it she was hooked watching through the rest of the movies and through the whole movie again. She’d even style her hair after the main actress, Theda Bara, though she didn’t expect to still have it a hundred years later. “To Theda Bara!” she smiled and raised her glass, she didn’t need to drink but she was being polite. Never one to dwell on the past to long she turned around to look at the others that were attending this gathering.

It’s spooky season again and in honour of such, we’re going to have a few Halloween themed social threads along with a Halloween vignette Ghost Stories. In A Gathering of Mages your magic-based characters have a chance to discuss a potential threat to reality, whilst in Silver Screen Dreams the more monstrous heroes have a chance to gather for a good cause. These are social threads, but as an experiment, things will at regular periods change giving new ways to interact. If anything else Halloween happens, and please feel free to explore such things, let me know and I’ll add it here for everyone to enjoy!

That will be four changes with the thread closing on the 1st of November. Being a mostly social thread roll won’t be necessary and GM involvement will be minimal, instead, it's a chance for people to cut loose and show how powerful the character can really be!

Freedom City’s Orpheum Theatre, The Theatre District, Freedom City 11 pm October 31st A hundred years ago it was the pride of Freedom City, a magnificent Art Deco building for those interested in the newest medium of motion pictures. Closed in the ’70s the building had fallen into disrepair and many sadly thought the building would soon be demolished for a newer more practical (but bland) building put in its places. Then a year ago it was revealed that the Summers Foundation had gained the building (through the ownership by Summers Advanced Dynamics) and were planning to restore it to its former glory. Now the building was was opening and in honour of the time of year, the cinema was going to show a series of classic horror movies and someone had the idea to invite the more “monstrous” heroes of Freedom City. With a promise of big donations to various charities from the first night's box office. For now, those invited heroes were being allowed to gather in the foyer to have a chance to socialise among themselves before any other guests were bought in for the movies to begin.

Parkhurst Hotel, Lantern Hill, Freedom City 11 pm October 31st For the last few nights, every magician and sorcerer could feel it, something was clawing its way up through the deepest and darkest dimensions. It created a sense of dread that something very bad was going to happen and soon and it didn’t take a genius to figure out when Samhain or Halloween was when the barriers between worlds were at their weakest. So quickly a plan was quickly put together all of those with suitable magical gifts were summoned, mostly by text and e-mail, to the Parkhurst Hotel to carry out a ritual (at midnight of cause) to hopefully sealing whatever this creature was within the spaces between worlds. That was at least an hour or so however so everyone was gathered in the grand hall with its sweeping staircases doing one of the other favourite things that mages loved to do network and gossip.

Something from the lower dimensions is trying to claw its way to Earth-Prime. Being Halloween the borders between worlds is thinner and with this malevolent force, spirits have been able to escape to Earth-Prime. Just another day for your heroes. Happy Halloween! In honour of this, we’re having a horror-themed vignette for the next couple of months, some ideas to explore are: Just a regular Halloween, though one in a world full of Supers. So you might be trick or treating with some superpowered kids or your party may be crashed by animal-themed supervillains. One of the escaped ghosts or spirits has escaped and is causing havoc, a problem your hero is going to have to deal with. A chance to meet your favourite Horror creature, in a copyright-friendly way obviously. Your hero is visited by a (literal) ghost from their past. It may be a chance to put old ghosts to rest or they may be out for some sort of revenge. Whilst this is a horror-themed vignette remember its need to stay PG-13, just keep all that blood and gore to a minimum. Your ghost stories should be posted no later than the 30th November 2021. (As a reminder, vignettes follow the same general rules as posts in terms of content, player character limits, and so on. You may have only one vignette per player character. Each vignette should be at least one page (~500 words) in length; if posted in your thread counts at the end of the month, it is worth 1pp for the associated character. An especially long vignette, 1000 words or more, may be worth up to 2pp. Multiple players can collaborate on a single vignette - we recommend Google Docs for this, it's very useful - but the vignette should be about one page per participating player.)

Starshine Rosalind thought for a few seconds, but couldn’t make a solid argument to herself which side was better to her. Eventually her brain gave up and she just choose the closest to her, figureing it was the easiest way to go. She pointed and grinned before moving towards the bed. “I guess it only fair I show you mine…” blushing she realised how that could be taken and quickly added “My powers I mean! This is bracelet, as far as I know they don’t have a name.” She pulled down her sleeve to reveal a rather plain steel looking bracelet. It made a series of chirping noises and glowed slightly.

Bee With a hiss of gas and a pop the tail portion of the robot dinosaur dropped to the ground for Melissa to climb out of and sit on the stump. She then returned to normal size, causing the bot to rock a little as she did so, fixing her hair as she did. “I swear I almost had that sorted, before it all literally came crashing down on me!” she sounded a little dazed but rapidly recovered her composure. “Oh hey another new person!” she waved at the newcomer “I assume this isn’t an everyday event, and if so can we go for something cool like giant bees?” she grinned.

The Traveller Storing her weapons she gave Kath'lana a suitable greeting, it was always good to meet friends out here especially when you’d been through adventures together. She then turned her attention to this newcomer, who might not be the brightest star in the nebula, though you couldn’t always tell. “Just so we’re clear you did just admit to two agents of interstellar law that you engaged in piracy with a know and wanted fugitive of the law?” Sitara explained with a bit of grin, and after a few seconds before added “Technically three but I’m off the clock right now!” In her very long life she’d worked alongside many individuals that skirted the law and many of the rouges and renegades were better than those claiming to uphold the law. Sometimes you needed those types to get things done. “There may be an option here, there’s an option for you to surrender into a protective custody. Then these fine people will enlist you work off you crimes, probably by doing just what you’ve been doing here. Unless you rather go to jail obviously?”

Madame Raven Just managing to hold her breath in time Callie fumbled in her utility belt for a gas mask she’d sourced for just this purpose, it wasn’t as fancy as the regular Raven masks but did the job almost as well. As she grabbed the mask she also grabbed a few Ravenrangs, throwing them towards the foe. It was a lazy throw and she hadn’t expected them to hit, but they gave her the time to pull the mask over her face and enjoy the now filtered air. “You’ve got to try harder than that!” it wasn’t clear if she meant herself or not.

The Traveller Whilst Sitara had been a warrior for many millennia she’d also been an engineer for just as long. And she’d seen these kind of power lifters many times before, really her power armour was just a much fancier version. “Hmmm looks like a SKR-11L, Lor design, cheap and cheerful! I bet they didn’t even disable remote diagnosis.” As she spoke she used her suits computer to link with the control systems, accessing the code of the machine. “I think I wrote some of this code! Should be easy to put it into maintenance mode...” Thus done a half dozen safety systems, the Lor were nothing but cautious, shut everything down so the potentially fault suit couldn’t harm the user.

Starshine “Being an only child is nice and all, but sometimes its nice to others around your old age. Once a year I’d stay with my Aunty and it was crazy at times but also a lot of fun.” She dropped the bag in the room with a large thump, wondering what she’d do with so many sweaters through the year. She looked up at the taller, thinner, woman it was a shame they couldn’t share clothes. Thinking of clothes made an obvious question come to mind. “I was going to ask about clothes and duplication but I guess you must already be fed up of such questions?”

Callie will pull on her Gasmask, and if has a chance throw a Ravenrang at Red Death. Attack Roll:  1d20+10 17, on the off chance thats a DC 21 Toughness.

Oh I forgot I have Skill Mastery on Electronics, Mechanical and Technology! So for whicheverone is appropriate I have 25.

If I spend a HP for a quick and dirty datalink can I roll to just shut the lifter down?

Madame Raven Callie was fairly chill, with things being quieter than the previous year but was still keeping an eye on what was going on around her. Even so it was somewhat of a surprise to see the floating snacks, even in a superhero school. “It’s okay, I remember how scary first day can be. If you like feel free to just help yourself, but I’d also like the company right now!” The sudden cat bought back a memory of her mothers like of breed, with a slightly whistful smile she found something suitable among the snack a gently offered it to the beast. “Well hello kitty! Or are you more a māomī or kiti?” remembering her mom testing her Mandarin and Japanese back in the day.

Starshine Rosalind carefully manoeuvred the bag, making sure not knock into anyone or anything. The fact that she could carry such a large bag easily wasn’t that impressive when someone could make multiple copies of herself. At home she’d managed to lift a car with relative easy, but again that probably wasn’t that impressive. “Erm in that case lets go!” she finally said as her brain caught up “Not to be rude but are they’re always multiple version of you around? Because that would get pretty crowded in our little room! I’m an only child so getting use to one person going to be new, let alone a dozen!” At the edge of the room she was just close enough the arrival of Danica, it was a quite an entrance as well and another weird event in a weird day. “Does all this ever get to be just normal?”
