  1. The Traveller Sitara had been trained long ago to be able to rapidly adjust to different technologies her suits display overlaying translations of the controls to her native tongue. If she understood everything correctly then it explained why everything seemed so out of sorts. "If I'm reading this correctly the universe has a slightly different quantum signature, in Galstandard we're in a parallel universe!" she paused for a second to let it sink in before adding "Apparently someone has a device on Earth to travel to our Universe, it looks that why the ship brought us here."
  2. Frostbyte Cathy was sure that Zeniths barrier was more than capable of holding those on the balcony back, but she wasn't sure that whoever had set this up couldn't do something to disrupt the barrier. So she gathered together the moisture in the air, luckily there was lots of it about, a formed a long ice slide from the balcony to the dancefloor. "We're good here I suggest we go get whoever was causing all this trouble." She was more than ready to get whoever was causing all this trouble, and more importantly ruining there normally night out.
  3. Frostbyte shall create an iceslide as a backup for those on the balcony.
  4. The Traveller Sitara was used to getting her hands dirty and digging into a problem, she could have probably have thrown something in a couple of minutes. But for now she was playing diplomat so she had to play nice with the authorities. Still, she was missing getting her hand dirty. "If it's a waiting game it might be a chance to try the local food and drink Ms McQueen." personally she enjoyed the experience of trying new things, and not just the alcohol despite what many might think.
  5. The Traveller Sitara jumped a little unsteadily to her feet using the nearby Praetorian for support, her medical systems were screaming at her to take it easy but they really didn't have the time. She made her way quickly, if a little unsteadily, to the console to have a look "If we had the time I'd bounce the comet off the atmosphere into a safe orbit, but it looks like we're out of time. If the aim is to burn off the ice then the forcefield won't be of much help either. I suggest we come up with a quick plan to escape this snowball! And I'm afraid I broke our ride!" she managed to smile weakly.
  6. Cathy couldn't help but feel a little awkward around the slightly younger students, she was never the popular kid and had spent her time are Claremont as one of its Misfits. But she'd been asked to do this and was going to do the best job that she could. "If you wanted it shouldn't be hard to find you a room for a little study group if you wanted? The school likes to encourage students to organise and help themselves." It might be a school, but it was also training for supers so helping people with team-ups was part of its job.
  7. Yeah I thought it was a little low, so I have gone with Durf's suggestion.
  8. White Lioness Power Level: 10 [12] (155/190PP) Unspent Power Points: 35 Trade-Offs: +4 Attack / -4 Damage, +2 Defense / -2 Toughness In Brief: Laid back student, who just happens to be the current White Lioness. Catchphrase: "The female Lion is always much more dangerous than the male." Theme: Naughty by Keko Alternate Identity: Sara Kingdom, officially Àjàṣorò Tafari, White Lion Clan (Pubically known in Dakana), Ajasoro Birthplace: Dakana Residence: Dakana Royal Palace, Claremont Academy Base of Operations: Bayview Occupation:Princess & Student Affiliations: Dakana Royal Family Family: M'Balla (Father), Asma'u (Mother), M'Zale (Grandfather), Ubasti (Grandmother), Makeda (Baako's Mother), Baako (Half-Brother) Description: Age: 16 (DoB: 12th April 2002) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Dakanan African Height: 1.67 m (5'6") Weight: 54kg (120 lbs) Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Whilst she downplays it many have commented that Àjàṣorò has inherited some of the beauty of her mother with the intensity of her father, especially the dark intense eye that both twins posse. Before becoming the White Lioness she kept herself in reasonable shape, though nowhere near as athletic as her brother. Embracing the chance to study in America she dresses and acts as a typical teenager, even with a passable East Coast accent. Her clothes are the most recent fashion and her hair done in the latest style, though she keeps it relatively short. The famous White Lion(ess) suit she wears looks like white cloth bodysuit but is actually a hi-tech weave laced with energy absorbing Daka crystals. It has gone through several redesigns, the skirt was quickly abandoned, but has always included the traditional gold accompaniments of her title (though not the headdress as she is not yet Queen). When in the costume she uses her more natural Dakanan accent. History: Àjàṣorò the eldest daughter of King M'Balla and his second wife Asma'u was raised to understand the importance of the job that the White Lion clan did to defend the nation of Dakana from threats. As such her childhood was spent training her body and mind to be the best that she could. But she really wasn't interested in such things, her attention was on those brightly coloured superheroes they had in America, though obviously, she was most interested in her fathers and grandfather heroics. It's not that she isn't proud of her country and people, it's just that it all seemed much more interesting. She even began to adopt the fashions and even the general accent of she saw on the television and internet, much to her tutor's chagrin. Then her father decided the time had come to step down as the current White Lion and focus instead on improving his land. Àjàṣorò had never really been interested in taking on the mantle, oh sure she was concerned about the defence of the Kingdom, she was more interested in continuing her studies and maybe one day go to America. But she couldn't in good faith allow the power of the White Lion to go to her brutish half-brother Baako, she couldn't beat him in the ritual combat directly (The tests of Wisdom and Knowledge were much more her thing) but she could maybe win by being smarter. Instead of fighting him she spent the trial avoiding his blows, showing great grace and athleticism, hoping to wear him out until someone could fell him. She had planned for her brother to do the honours and become the next White Lion, but somehow she'd managed to outwit Baako enough to win the trial with barely a strike on the man. Ironically after the ritual that embodied her with the ancestorial powers of the White Lioness, her father told her that he'd contacted an old friend of the family and she'd be getting her wish to go and study in America. Personality & Motivation: Never expecting to be the Queen her tutoring in etiquette wasn't as thorough as her brother, though she can put it on when necessary, and is general irreverent and doesn't seem to take things too seriously. Friendly and gregarious she tries to be everyone's friend, though never pushy, and whilst actual royalty manages to come across as down to earth. As the White Lioness this all goes out the window and she is the noble well breed warrior that she was raised to be. Whilst she respects her father's views and what he has done for Dakana and the world she has, though she hates to admit this, she does agree in part with Makedo's ideas. Dakana might have equality between the sexes but you don't have too far outside its borders to see women repressed and worse, and she might have a few times done her bit to help those women in need. Powers & Tactics: Whilst all of the White Lion clan have some form of combat training, and Àjàṣorò had more than most, she has never been the most tactical of people. Instead she relies on her speed and agility to get herself out of potentially dangerous situations. Power Descriptions: After passing the trials of Wisdom, Knowledge and Combat Àjàṣorò has been empowered by the spirit of her ancestor the original White Lion. This grants her the speed and prowess of the Lion as well as the senses it possesses. In addition to the spiritual powers granted to her, she supplements it with a high tech body suit, the finest in Dakanan engineering, whose Daka crystal weave helps absorb impacts and reduce injuries. Complications: A real Princess: Àjàṣorò is both a princess of Dakana and the White Lioness, that give her certain obligations that she has to fulfil even if she had other things she needs to do. Enemy of the Red Hyena: Whilst mostly the Red Hyena's are willing to work within Dakana's system some, including her half-brother, take more direct and violent action against the White Lioness. A Normal teenager?: Wanting to experience America to it's fullest she's trying not to draw attention to the fact that she's a Princess of Dakana. 10. The Kingdom of Dakana Dakana is a small Sub-Saharan African country* that has throughout its history managed to remain both isolated and independent. Thanks to a limited trade in Daka crystal and other exotic materials, from its extensive mines, it is a wealthy country that has invested in its populous education and high technology. Relatively unknown until the 1960's and the appearance of the White Lion, Defender of Dakana, as part of the Freedom League. After he left the league M'Zale took on the mantle of King and reformed the Kingdom opening up limited access to the outside world. Culture Dakana is divided into Ukoo (clans) who by traditions named after the ancestral animal that embodies and protects them. Unlike some places ownership in a clan isn't a static thing people can move between clans and there is a taboo against people marrying with members of the same Ukoo. Each Ukoo gets to choose a leader who gets's to sit on Dakana's ruling council (see below). The most powerful clans are the White Lions, traditional defenders of Dakana, and the Red Hyenas and Ghost Dogs feared warriors and scholars. Government Before M'Zale's reforms, the White Lion was the uncontested leaders of Dakana the King or Queen word was lore, though they were advised by the council. Now the King or Queen is tasked with the defence of the kingdom, both physical and spiritual. Now those who take on the mantle of the White Lion are banned from taking a seat on the council, though they will confer with them in times of great crisis. The council now decides the policies of the entire nation, though for those that affect the entire nation everyone gets to vote. Before the reform, only the Major Ukoo go a seat on the council now all Ukoo get a place and an equal vote. The major divisions in the council are on the future of Dakana. Those led by M'Balla, who recently gave up the mantle of White Lion, wish to focus on defending the borders of Dakana whilst also providing economic and limited technological aid to the outside world. In opposition is Makeda of the Red Hyena, and former Queen, who advocates for Dakana to take a more active role in world politics. Economy and Technology Dakana is literally and metaphorically built upon Daka Crystals, who strange energy storage technology has made them invaluable for Dakana. Much of Dakana's technology is based on their crystals allow everyone to enjoy cheap plentiful power and free public transport for all. Indeed the Daka Crystal use to be used and currency and modern coins are called Uzito wa Daka (Weight of Daka). Dakana rarely sells it crystal to those outside the country, instead, most of its wealth comes from sales of other exotic materials also found in the mining of the crystals. International Relations Much debate is going on in Dakana over whether it should be more involved more in international politics, but for now it remains neutral for almost everything except disaster relief. Dakana does have a small number of people from outside the country living there semi-permanently, mostly from experts in mining engineering and a few scientist and academics. They are heavily vetted and hired under strict contracts. Currently, Dakana is closed off to International Businesses, preferring local businesses instead. There is a discussion of allowing a limited number of outside companies to be allowed to operate in Dakana as long as they are almost completely run by local staff. Dakana standing army, organised along Ukoo lines, are purely for defensive purposes and do not operate outside of the nation. And as such there is no agreement for International organisation to operate inside the country, though on rare occasions UNISON has been allowed limited access. Wakana fielded its first Olympic team in London 2012 and since the millennium taken part in the African and World Cup with moderate success so far. Locations N'Gome ya Watu (Stronghold of the People) - Capital of the kingdom and home to both the Council and Royal family, N'Gome ya Watu is a mix of traditional African and modern high tech architecture. The city is served by K'Ribi International Airport, that allows a limited number of outsiders to visit Dakana. Mji wa Soko (Market City) - Until recently this was the only place where outsiders could trade good with Dakana, and still many trade in its traditional markets. Most now come to experience the Dakana way of life, especially now that they no longer have to hide Dakana advanced technology. Mji was Soko is the most cosmopolitan of Dakana cities and where new ideas from the continent flow into the country. *Where is it located you might ask? Well, whilst it was originally said to exist surrounded by Sudan (now South Sudan), Ethiopia, Kenya, (Uganda) and the (Democratic Republic) Congo. However, Freedom Most Wanted centres it around Kilimanjaro and long way from there in Tanzania. There is no sane way to connect the two sensibly, so Dakana actual location is a vague thing.
  11. Unless anyone can find anything objectionable I'm going to sneak this in for the end of the month: Dakana is a small Sub-Saharan African country* that has throughout its history managed to remain both isolated and independent. 12. Miss Grue With great care and attention, Daphne managed to find somewhere to sit on the less tidy side of the room. She leaned forward hand clasped and between her legs. "This is a little embarrassing really..." she paused for a second to quickly check that no one was close enough to hear before continuing "When my race planned to invaded this planet they set up a fund for there sleeper agents, luckily they were stopped by the League but the funds still remained. Ever since I arrived I've been using the funds, and it was just me. But recently someone been using the funds, and according to Mother Unit's analysis they are going to be at you show!"
  13. To be fair Ari came up the Stronghold idea, I just added to it
  14. The Akan have it set up so you can't marry into your own clan, so if we say that there's a healthy flow of people between the various clans. They have it go matrilineal, but we can always have the couple choose which clan they want to be a part of, it's probably how the major clans keep there power and influence. It looks like the White Lion(ess) main focus is defending Dakana, so maybe they only get brought in when the kingdom is threatened. It would also explain why M'Balla gave up the mantle, so he actually is now a part of running the country. I'd suggest that this is one of the things M'Zale changed with his big reforms in the 70's. As for the ordeals to become White Lion(ess) I was assuming a series of trials to test mind, body and spirit, maybe with no punchin' at all! It would explain why two sixteen-year-olds had any chance against a 20-something Baako.
  15. Okay how about something like this: Government Dakana is split into a series of clans, each named after an ancestral animal that embodies and protects them. Since the foundation, these clans have sat in council to decide on policies of the entire nation. Each clan chooses who can represent through a popular vote, different clans have slightly different traditions in such matters but the choice is always done democratically. Under the rule of M'Zale the council was reorganised giving power to all the lesser clans and reducing the influence of his own clan, the White Lions have a representative like any other and the King or Queen must follow the wishes of the council. On important matters of the whole kingdom, everyone gets to vote on the decision. Apart from the White Lions the most powerful and influential clan are the Red Hyena's led by Makeda, who whilst is no longer the Queen has influence among many of the clans. Makeda is one of the main proponents of expanding Dakana's influence beyond its borders both culturally and through force of arms.
  16. Yeah I'd like to keep as much of the African flavour as we can
  17. To fit with Dakana's mix of modern and traditional it could be that the entire clan votes based on the recommendations of there clan leader.
  18. So I've been doing a little digging around the net and I thought maybe we could have a system in Dakana similar to the Akan clans, the Ausua. So the Lion's and Hyena are actually clan names, with plenty of other animals for the other families! So the eight clans alongside the King or Queen make all the decisions of the nation, not unlike a similar movie nation really. What do people think, too much a like?
  19. Yes feel free to carry on
  20. Hmmm, let's call back and go for Cannibal Alkahest. No kissing this time though!
  21. Picking up the pen Klara was going to sign as she had practised for the last few decades, a series of squiggles that equated to the identity that she now choose to live under. But this was different she figured a document that should mean something, and as she'd been taught back home words had power both physical and metaphysical. So with a flourish, she wrote out her name in the script of her people beautiful, though she thought her handwriting was a little scratchy, and reminiscent of many other languages. Finishing she carefully put down the pen and drained the port in one. "Будем здоровы!"
  22. No to be too pushy but any update on this BC?
  23. Emerald Spider Peri was a woman of science and she relied mostly on what her senses could tell her, including the quantum probability field distortion analysis her suit provided her. This was all well outside her wheelhouse and she wasn't quite sure exactly what was happening, but at least she had given herself a target that she could use for an attack. "If this is a Scooby-doo setup I'm going to be really disappointed." Bouncing between the walls and ceiling she sent a twisting bolt of entwining quantum energy to where she hopes their enemy actually was.

  25. The Traveller Sitara had never been one to hide her emotions so she looked at Moon-Moth with sympathy and gently touched the Lanturnian on the shoulder. "I'm sorry if I bought up bad memories, seems it might be a day for remembering the lost." she sighed and slumped a little, she guessed she was going to do the remembering after all. "When I was younger death was common and cheap, and then I became a warrior ever since I've seen such slaughter on thousands of worlds. All you can do is remember the good times, and there are very more good times trust me!"
