GM Post "Oh dear." a female voice came from down the hall, as the servants mr Movida had sent were ushering a woman on her 40s. Short bob-cut brown hair, green-beige jacket and pants, brown-yellow blazer, and a white labcoat that she was wearing as she moved. "Lemme see them." she instructed, and those who had gathered around Pedro and Dennis scattered around, to make room for her. As Dr Homelock set out on examining her patients, the Captain ordered Williams to go take five - an order that he was all too happy to oblige - and asked another of her crewmembers on the status of Tom Jenkins and Angelica Theodine, both crewmembers of the S.S. Gadelica that had been keeping watch the previous night, on the St. George the Dragonslayer's church, while the crew and Carmen were resting. "Jenkins and Theodine are both are sound asleep, Captain." Bob Hobson replied. "Should I wake them up?" "No... let 'em rest..." She said. "I could use with a light nap myself, to be honest... barely slept three hours during the night..." Having finally gotten the time to rest, the fatigue that had been building up caught with the Captain. She took a seat, and almost collapsed upon it. Billy helped Carmen unload, as she explained the situation to him. Looking at her soaking her limp leg on salt-water, he remarked concernedly. "Looks awfully in pain, miss Canto. Will the salt water help, or do you need anything else?"

Vyrdnaya considered it for a second. By all accounts, it sounded like their most prudent course of action. "I could certainly try my hand at entering a few inputs here, making some crosswires there, building a remote control, and the like. But..." she paused, as she further gave this issue some thought. "... that still leaves us with the whole issue of how to quickly close up to our would-be ambushers, especially from a safe, hiding distance." That... put a damper on the plan. Stay too close, and the counter-ambush would fail. Too far, and they would be unable to catch up to the Spectral Knights. It was at that time that the red laser-lens she had for an eye glew a bright yellow, as if some lightbulb had been lit open inside her head. "Aaaaand I think I've got the answer to that!" With that, she got up from her seat, and headed towards Elite and Magnetar. "See, there's plenty of spare parts inside the Kavaca, right? I bet I could borrow some of them, meld them into a makeshift spacecraft. Nothing fancy, nor particularly blasty. Just big enough to accomodate us all, and fast enough to catch up to the Kavaca from one side of the stellar system to the other."

Vyrdnaya regrouped with the other Praetorians on the Sar-Lan, just in time for the spaceship to start going critical. "Got your message..." She commented, when the alarms started sounding. "... and not a moment too soon, by the looks of it. Let's not waste any more time here." Vyrdnaya went into the portal, its magic transporting her to the cargo area of the Devotion, down on Dreeda III's surface. Upon materializing there, she stepped out to the planet's surface, spotting Praetorian Seresk in the process. "What's the situation here, Praetor Seresk?" She asked the giant lizard-like Praetorian, who obliged her with a brief explanation of where she should go to join the fight against the rest of the Deadly Dozen. "Understood, I'm going ahead." Two giant mechanical wings sprouted from her back, while her feet transformed into rockets that propelled her into flight. In a matter of seconds, her rocket-fuel-boosted flight had flung her towards Traveller and Magnetar. "Hope you don't mind if I join, Praetors." She said, anxious to get her hands on the ones responsible for Sar-Lan's horror.

As Atraxia activated the life support systems in place, Meatheral felt his body's distortion calming down, until he was eventually able to fully resume control of it. The etherial hero was now able to catch his breath figuratively as well, and finally felt confident about moving around. He considered turning back on the spot, for a brief moment; after all, he'd come dangerously close to dying. And miss this incredible chance to explore this... place? However, before he could take a final decision, Atraxia came to greet him. "Huh? Wha-, who are..." At first, startled, Meatheral tried to keep his guard up, not sure who that person was. But apologizing to him put Jerry at ease. "Ah, yeah, I'm alright, sorry for the reflexes." He spoke with his aerial voice. "My name is Je... *harum* I mean, I am Meatheral. As for how I got here, well... that's a bit of a story there." He faltered a bit, after almost giving out his real name. They did say that one could never be too careful, after all. Hearing Red Moon's introduction, he acknowledged her. "I'm... pleased to make your aqcuaintance, Red Moon. I had an inkling of a feeling that this place here is the moon... Luna, as you say." He commented, and then proceeded to explain how he got here. "See... I was vacationing down in earth, looking at some ruins called The Stonehenge, when all of a sudden, a beam of light fell down upon them from the moon. You could say I became entranced by it, and so, I followed the light - which felt very gentle to the touch, I might add, nothing like a death beam of destruction - and, well, here I am."

Seeing as her previous attack had seriously hampered the pirate capital vessel, Vyrdnaya kept the barrage of ion blasts up, hoping to take down the enemy ship now that it was still reeling and vulnerable. Thankfully, despite its better evasive maneouvers, the enemy pirate ship had been firmly locked under Vyrdnaya's watchful sights, and the Akarnian Praetorian fired up the Kavaca's main weapons once more, piling up on the damage she dealt to the enemy ship. "Tis but a matter of time!" she gloated, before noticing that the enemy ship had stopped shaking, and was stabilising. "Anathema!" She cursed, and turned to her lizard-looking companion on board. "The enemy is preparing a counter attack, Seresk. Hang on tight!" She cautioned.

GM Post Great Bay, Riverrock Island, Thursday, March 25th 2013, Superheroine Pitch - real name rock journalist Carmen Cantos - allong with the Captain of the S.S.Gadelica ship - the ship that had ferried Carmen to Riverrock island, which had been marooned on the Island the night the demons were unleashed and murdered rockstar Acheron - S.S.Gadelica crewmember William Smithson, and island residents Dennis and Pedro - both servants of the now late Acheron, real name George-Louis Phlegethon - made their way to Phlegethon's Villa, situated in the center of the island. Their journey to St.Blaise's village, in order to find clues to the appearance of the demons on the island, was met with minimum success, yielding precious few information about the history of the island, before being met with a horde of demons, summoned by a mystically imbued and highly cryptic golem, the Magician. Carmen defeated the Magician, aqcuiring the stone tablet that was used as a medium to materialize and anchor the Magician in the process, but during the battle, Dennis and Pedro were severely wounded. Dennis managed to recover, with some minimal rest, but Pedro's life, while outside of immediate threat, is still hanging in the balance. Deciding to postpone further searching for clues, and prioritizing the safety of the civilians under her care, Carmen decided to escort the wounded to the back to Phlegethon's Villa, in which the servants and the rest of the crew of the S.S.Gadelica had hidden, having fortified places of it in order to stave off the demons. It had been a long, busy, and eventful day since Pitch's arrival on the island. What had started as a prospective interview with a famous rockstar in an exotic scenery, had quickly turned into a living nightmare. A nightmare that was still going... Phlegethon's Villa 15:32 The journey through the hailstorm had been a tiresome affair, not only for Pitch, but for the humans as well. Smithson, in particular, had to bear the brunt of it, what with carrying Pedro on a stretcher all by himself. Every so often, the group had to find a defensible, fortified spot, so that they could rest and catch their breaths. This meant that the journey back to the villa took almost twice as much as it had taken them to arrive to the village. Nevertheless, conservation of strength was of a high priority to the group, and while thankful that they'd finally arrived at the manor, they were largely no worse for the wear than they had been two hours ago. The humans inside the manor welcomed the lot, providing them with water and warm blankets to stave off the cold. Alex Movida, Phlegethon's personal valet and closest confidant, rushed to the help of the wounded servants. "Oh, heavens, are you alright?" he asked, worry written clearly on his face. "Quick, get Doctor Homelock here!" he shouted, and at once a servant went to usher the resident pathologist. Billy Blooms, photographer from Rock Report who had been assigned to help Carmen, ran concernedly towards Pitch. "Boss? What happened? You all look like you've been through hell!" he asked the superheroine, aghast at their disheveled, sweaty, and dirty looks. "More run-ins with the demons?"

GM Post The group agreed with Carmen, honestly elated that they wouldn't be venturing out on their own. Even with the boosted rifles, they were too vulnerable, so it seemed to them that having Pitch covering their backs was indeed their safest bet. Dennis did inform Carmen, much to her displeasure, that there had been no domesticated beasts of burden in the island, since the catastrophe many years ago. But at any rate, their course of action had been drawn, and the group was resolved to see it through, come high water or, literally in this case, hell! After the hour had passed, they gathered their things, created a makeshift stretcher that could hold Pedro. William Smithson, being the most physically fit of the bunch, shouldered the burden of carrying Pedro all by himself. Fastening the stretcher on his shoulders and waist, he carried Pedro, while the Captain and Dennis held their guns trained and at the ready. This was gonna be a long walk... Lamant Manour, St Blaise Village, Riverrock Island. 1946 "GET BACK!" The man shouted furiously. "LEAVE FELIPE-LOUIS!" He said, while clutching a young boy in his arms for dear life. The woman was holding a shovel, fire burning in her eyes as she spoke. "I won't let you keep my son away from me!" "I'm doing this for our good!" The man pleaded. "Maria, please understand! This is for the sake of our FAMILY!!" Maria would have none of that. She tried taking a swipe at the man, "If you think that I'll let you have your way, you have another thing coming, Jean-Louis." She threatened, as she tried taking a few more hacks at the man. Meanwhile, the boy, Felipe-Louis, clutched his ears while tears were streaming out of his eyes, as his father dragged him against his will, away from his mother. However, all it took was a small misstep. Jean-Louis, while trying to avoid Maria's attacks with the shovel, was unaware that he was near the staircase that lead to the cellar, slipped, and tumbled downwards, while trying to keep hold of his son and cushion him, as best he could. "NOOOOO!" The woman shouted, at the sight of the two falling to their doom. She ran towards the cellar, finding the lifeless body of her husband, and the bruised and battered, but still very much alive body of her son, Felipe. She ran to him, broke him free of his father's hands, and hugged him with all her strength. "AAAAAHHH... Thank god... Thank god..." she cried words of gratitude. "Mum?..." The boy asked, unsure, or perhaps unwilling to realise, what was happening. "It's okay..." She tried to comfort her son. "But dad, he-" He tried to say, before being sushed. "It's okay, it's okay. Mommy's here... It will be alright." She cried, tears of joy, as she looked at the magic circle that had been drawn in place in the cellar, with the lifeless body of her other son, Georges. "It will be alright..." She comforted her son, with a smile on her face. -To Be Continued-

Jerry gasped for air. He didn't have time to reprimand himself for his foolishness, he didn't have time to think anything other than Air! Must get air! He ran around, trying to reactivate the portal, to get back. When that ultimately failed, he slunk to the ground, as the horror of his situation dawned on him. Air! Air! Need Air! As tha thought kept swirling into his panicked mind, finally, a moment of clarity entered him, as he realised that if he could not find breatheable air, he'd just create air for himself! VENTUS AD ME CIRCUMFLAT! he shouted, elated at the prospect of transforming into an air elemental ... Wha-? VENTUS AD ME CIRCUMFLAT!!! he tried again, giving it his all on this shout. But then he realised; no sound was coming from him. Without air to produce vibrations, the sound was being restricted to his own body. Don't.... DON'T SCREW WITH ME! Jerry raged at his luck, and dug his face into his suit. Just a bit of air... Just enough for one shout, no, for one whisper! " VENTUS AD ME CIRCUMFLAT!" And finally, with that, Jerry felt himself transform, his body - flesh, blood, and bone - evaporating and being replaced with pure, breathable, compressed air. The sensation of the transformation left Jerry feeling elated. He did it. He was finally out of the fire! ... and into the frying pan, by the looks of it, for while Jerry managed to transform into an air elemental, thus eliminating his need for breathable air, his exposed body started expanding outside of his control, the zeroth pressure of the vaccuum drawing the air that consisted his body, outwards.

GM Post The Captain explained the situation to Dennis, as Carmen was handing out her specialty enchanted soup'd up riffles. One could feel the increased kick in power they held, as if it was raring to be unleashed. They looked wary at first, but they thanked her nonetheless. "What you're doing for us, miss Canto... I doubt a lifetime would be enough to repay you." She said, words full of gratitude. Dennis nodded in agreement "As a matter of fact, there is! Master Acheron might have been a reclusive artist, but he wasn't a bonehead. You don't live on your own island, far removed from civilization, if you can't ensure that you'll have access to proper medical health care." The Captain and William chirped up on this, as they attentively listened to Dennis. "There's a licenced doctor among the servants in the mansion. She may be a pathologist, but she can operate as well, if she has to. There's a clinic inside the mansion, for such occasions, and it could even handle something like a blood transfusion." Well, hehehe. Good news to know that even if we get horribly maimed, at least we will have proper care on our hands, master. Tazel quipped "Alright then. So what do we do?" William asked. "Pedro needs help. But we can't be going back and forth at the drop of the heart either; we need to find a way out of this godforsaken island. The sooner the better." The Captain pondered for a moment, and then she came to a conclusion. "We need an hour's rest. Then, we'll have to split up. Dennis, can you fire a rifle?" "Well... it was my left shoulder that got hurt, so I doubt it will be any problem." Dennis replied, keeping a brave face on him. "Right... Pedro will need at least two people to transfer him back to the manor. What say you, miss Canto?"
-
GM Post The surgery proceeded relatively smoothly, with William carefully stitching Pedro's chest up, and then bandaging it up. It really was a miracle; an inch or two deeper, and the demonic blade would have ruptured his heart, increasing the bloodloss by tenfold and leading to a swift death. But even so, even with a stitched wound across his chest, Pedro wasn't out of the woodworks yet. William sighed in relief as he managed to not horribly maim his patient, as he went about cleaning his hand from the blood. While he did so, the Captain administered to the still unconscious Pedro some antibiotics, making sure he swallowed them without choking. "Well, he's out of any immediate threat, at least, but he's lost a lot of blood." She informed Carmen, as she and William were ready to attend to Dennis. "We also tried dealing with his fever as best we could, but if his temperature spikes again, it could spell trouble." "What he needs, the Captain is trying to say, is professional help." William explained. "Regardless, let's see what we can do about this one." The captain pressed on, and they all got to working on Dennis's shoulder. They followed a similar procedure, but they had less to worry about. After half an hour had passed, Dennis started regaining consciousness. He wobbled and shook, and his eyes looked lythargic, but he was at least responsive. "Wha-... What happened?" He asked, as he looked around. If the threat of demons weren't looming in his subconscious, he might have even made inquiries about licence plates and their cars thereof.

GM Post "Tsk, this isn't a very nice way to treat your guests, highness!" Bandita Aves quiped, as she easily sidestepped the tremors Glamazon sent her way. Three of the Fowlerings were also caught in the shockwave's perimeter, but only one fell down. However, the group was an acrobatic lot, as a whole, and the fallen Fowlering got back up to his feet with a swift jump. Unstabbing her rapier from the floor, she ordered her Fowlerings "Keep this one occupied, boys, while I go deal with our honoured princess here." As the ice volley Temperance created flew by harmlessly, the remaining of the Fowlerings had gained up on her, surrounding her on all fronts. Once more, the group unleashed a barrage of stabs and slices at their foe, while Bandita Aves took flight, using her wings to gain some height. At about 30 feet high, and getting close to the ceiling, she plunged down towards the Atlantean hero, letting her blade sing through the air with precise moves that bore the full force of her charge, until she flew past Glamazon, and back up to the ceiling, all in blinding speed. "Hope you can keep up with meeeee~"

Let's get this party started right back up! Indeed, the attacks don't hit them. Do note that the Fowlerings are indeed minions, so feel free to take 10 on those shots! GM Post After agreeing to make a much needed stop, Carmen and co entered the hut, and immediately seeing two beds inside, they hurriedly left Pedro and Dennis on them. "Ah, thank god! I thought I was gonna fall from the weight..." the Captain complained. William was similarly thankful that they managed to get a breath. After a while, he checked up on the wounded. The gnash on Dennis' shoulder seemed pretty deep, but other than the blood loss and bone fracture, none worse for the wear. Pedro, on the other hand... "Eww, that's nasty." he remarked on the gaping wound on Pedro's chest that had turned a blackish colour. "Captain? Think it's infected?" The Captain put her hand on Pedro's forehead. "Seems to be burning up. Let's get some first aid from their bags." She instructed, and William obliged. Styptic, antiseptic, sutures, and bandages were procured from the bag Dennis had, as well as some antibiotics. William himself had some xylocaine and syringes on him. He wasted no time getting to work, while the Captain procured a canister fueled stove, which she used to boil some water. She then addressed their saviour. "Miss Canto? Can you keep this cloth on Dennis' wound? Try and keep the blood from flowing anymore. This might take some time, and while Dennis isn't exactly in a life threatening position, we wouldn't want to take any chances." She explained. William first disinfected the wound with antiseptic, and then applied styptic to slow the blood flow. Then, he checked the body for nearby arteries. Last thing he wanted was for his patient to start thrashing about from the pain while he operated at him. As soon as he found one, he injected it with xylocaine. He repeated that process four times, checking to see how the body responded to the impending numbness. Once he became sure that xylocaine was taking effect, he washed his hands using some of the boiled water the Captain had prepared, and sterilized the sutures as best he could. As he was about to stitch the wound, William prayed, for good luck and in order to steel his nerves. "Just like at the Academy..."

Thanks to Sitara's work, Vyrdnaya was able to hear Paradigm's words to her. "Huh? Parad-... Praetor Val-Ren? Is that you?!" Vyrdnaya asked, convincing herself that she breathed in relief. "I am what? Within the operating...? That doesn't make... I don't understand!!" Vyrdnaya continued hyperventilating as throughout the conversation, she felt that what was being said was non-sensical, like a few logic steps were being skipped. Finally calming down, she said. "Forgive me, I apologize for my outburst. I'm, uhhh, I'm Vyrdnaya... Engineer Lieutenant Commander Vyrdnaya Solnys-Kori Milareth, Chief Machinery Repairwoman of the Devotion. I, uh... I don't know how I endep up... here? I... We were fighting the Communion, and then, and then the Cooling Systems went bust, the engines were failing, and I, uhh, I told the others to run to safety, while I tried to secure the exhaust route, by rebooting the engines. I..." Taking yet another pause, to calm and collect herself, as she relived those memories, she continued "I restored the shields, and made my report to the bridge, and then... then... I heard an explosion... We must have taken a hit... I..." Vyrdnaya trailed as the realization of what happened to her started to dawn on her. "... I died..." She whimpered "I mean... I felt pain, like I was being ripped apart by a large gravitational force, while being hit by cauterizing radiation... but... why am I here?... why am I not dead? Where is my body?!"

GM Post "If it's any consolation, miss Canto..." The Captain quipped. "... we won't be any better at running, what with the injured and all." "Let's go, then!" William urged, and the team followed Carmen's lead, exiting the fiery smoke completely. The demons eventually escaped their smoking cell, but having lost track of Carmen and co, they continued rampaging through the village, their cries echoing throughout the area. Soon Carmen was overcome with fatigue, her raging fury having rescinded and her adrenaline dropping like a rock on the water. The Captain and William noticed her slowed pace, and grabbed her from each side, while also holding the wounded on their other shoulder. After about a minute had passed, Carmen had managed to compose herself, at least enough to be able to move all out on her own again. S/W Forest, Forest Entrance Clearing 11:45 Thus the five of them made their way, pushing through the exhaustion and pain, until they managed to find a clearing that led to the deeper forest. A hut, just as abandoned as every other building in the island, was waiting for them, there, while the Tablet urged Carmen to press on towards the forest. "Think we should be safe here?" William asked, as he surveyed their surroundings. "I doubt anything followed us."
-
GM Post The Captain struggled to catch her breath, until she finally answered Carmen "We should... haaah, haaaah, we should just make a run for it! Haaah, if we stay here, we, haaah, haaah, we will be overrun before you know it... haaah." "What about the demons here?" William asked, while also struggling to keep his breath. "They seem preoccupied at the moment... we might be able to take them, but that would attract the attention of the rest of the demons in the village." She calmly responded, having managed to keep her breathing under control, and stabilize her andrenaline levels. "Besides, we risk the lives of the wounded if we pick a fight..." William went silent at that. Theirs was a dire situation, indeed. They could ill afford spreading their attention. "Look, we can't fight on two fronts. Either we run in hopes of saving Pedro and Dennis here, or we abandon them to their fates and fight on." "... No. Hell no! We're not leaving them to their deaths!" William Smithson burst out, almost alerting the darkness-trapped demons to their location.

Knowledge [Arcane Lore] DC5: There is a significant amount of mystical energy emanating from the stone tablet, but you are certain that it is not demonic in any way whatsoever. The tablet portrays a robed individual with four items around him, a sword, a chalice, a disk, and a scepter. It also has a word underneath it, followed by the character "I" of the basic latin alphabet. The word is "קוֹסֵם" which appears to be some sort of arabian/middle-eastern/afro-asiatic word. On the back, the tablet has a single circular peg, protruding no more than the width of a finger. You can feel that the energy emanating from the tablet appears to be "magnetized", pointing towards a general direction, as if attracted to it. DC10: In fact, the tablet portrays a depiction of the Magician, one of the Major Arcana in Tarot cards. The items, you remember, symbolize the four Minor Arcana of the Tarot Deck, the Sword, the Cup, the Diamond, and the Club. You can educate a guess that the "I" is the roman numeral for 1, and the word probably translates to "Magician". You are aware that the energies of the tablet are similar to the energies emanating from the Magician you fought, and given your knowledge in the arcane arts, you recognize that the tablet was probably used as the medium to channel the Magician into being. Given that whoever summoned him went to great lengths to include a creature related to Tarot-logy, you can't help but wonder if there are more similar creatures running around in the island, representing other Tarot cards. Given the peg on its back, it's very possible that the tablet also doubles as a key of some sort. You wonder if the magic within the table points towards its intended keyhole, or... DC15: You further realize that the afro-asiatic word "קוֹסֵם" bears a close familiarity to hebrew script. Combined with its method of summoning and function, you hazzard a guess that the Magician was basically a Golem, which would explain why you didn't feel any infernal powers from within it. While the name inscribed didn't follow the typical pattern of Golem creation of being a Name of God, you are aware that some Golems had other words inscribed to them to act as the "shem", in this case, it's Tarot name in hebrew. The end result is the same.

"Which makes it all the more frustrating that we haven't managed any progress in stopping them, Magnetar." Vyrdnaya responded exasperatedly. She knew her teammate was right, that trivializing other peoples' suffering was uncalled for, but it was that same suffering that frustrated her. "We're barely helping anyone as it is. We're cutting off a limb, and two more grow to take its place. I fear that..." she hesitated a bit, as she contemplated. "... that before we even manage to find its weakness, this beast will have grown far too many arms for us to handle. That the Spectrum Knights will have fully recuperated their losses, and lauch an overwhelming counter attack, before we even manage to locate their organization's heart." Vyrdnaya slinked back at her seat. She hated being a defeatist, but she couldn't help having doubts about their predicament. Even if they had technically been on the winning side of the war, so to speak, she was always weary that maybe things have been too easy, that the Praetorians've been lulled to a false sense of security, that they've been baited to their downfall. "Well, Corona?" she addressed Aya in her native tongue. "You've had your share of work as an intergalactic investigator for the Lor Republic, in this time period. How do you think the Spectrum Knights managed to keep such a low profile? They've proven themselves far too flashy to've managed that, at least to such a degree."
