April the 3rd After separating from Triakosia, Net Fly flew down, towards the machine. After examining it closely, he activated his Net-Dive Harness, a barely visible circlet-looking device installed in his mask, that allowed him to interface with computers. He found no such luck doing that, and though he wanted to give the machine a more thorough look, he decided to join the relief efforts once more, at least until things looked like they'd settled down. Grimalkin asked him and Triakosia to exchange their contact infos, which Serge thought was a good idea, seeing as they'd need to work together for the next few days. Seeing Greg alive had at least been a weight off his shoulders, and the young hero even caught sight of Takanori, who'd joined up with the relief effort. The middle-aged japanese businessman looked sweaty, with dirt and dust covering his back and hands. He'd taken out his expensive suit, and rolled up the sleeves of his collared shirt, and despite his somewhat plump demeanor, Takanori had thrown himself completely into helping the injured, with nary a sign of protest. A few hours later, Net Fly excused himself once more, and, after taking the machine they'd salvaged with him, went to his hotel room. April the 4th During the morning, Serge ate a quick breakfast, and talked with Greg about what had happened the day before. He let Greg scour the net for any news, while he took out all of his tools that he kept handy around, and started tinkering with the machine, taking it appart in some places, while fixing others. The language barrier was proving too difficult for him to overcome, so he'd build an automated translator, for crossreferrencing his findings. Nothing so sofisticated as to provide a perfect translation, but it was more than just a simple interpreter, using multiple online dictionaries, crossreferrencing data, identifying phrases, etc. His brow furrowed further and further, as he uncovered more info from the machine's specs; a poorly placed charge, that misfired because whoever programmed it didn't account for super-vibration they'd rigged the machine to perform. Ughhh... this is sooo stupid... Whoever tampered with this, knew enough of what they was doing to cause some serious damage, but frakk-all about either the underlying workings of the machine or how to properly cover their tracks. This is amateur work, through and through. He realised that a remote signal had activated the machine, which made sense, as whoever was responsible for it probably didn't want to be too close when it hit the fan. He was none too happy to find out the full extent of the damage caused by the earthquake, either, but lying in wait didn't sit too well with Serge, who instead decided to spend the remainning hours of searching info for Namazu Technologies, and for Kashima as well, until the night, when the Japanese Prime Minister made his announcement.

Hmm, a busy day for Net Fly lays ahead. If possible, Net Fly will use his Datalink to directly interract with the salvaged machine parts, taking 20 in his Computer checks.Net Fly will resume giving his assistance on the relief, until most the immediate danger has passed. When he's done with that, he will focus on the salvaged machine completely. He will use his all around expertise with machines, in order to restore any damage they may have had, take the machine appart and find information about it, Taking 20 (or 10 if not able to) on the following skills, if applicable: Craft[Electronics] 10, Craft[Mechanics] 6, Disable Device 15, Computers 18, and Knowledge[Technology] 10. See if there's also any synergy to be had. Finally, Net Fly will cross-referrence his findings, as well as look for information about Namazu Technologies, the new Hero associated with it, and the earthquake, using his Datalink, Online Research, and taking 20 on his Computers checks (For a total of 38). If the language barrier proves too cumbersome for him to overcome (ie, not enough available english-language contents on the net), he will invent a text-parser/translator/interpreter from Japanese-to-and-from-English that crossreferrences online dictionaries. Taking 10 on those checks, as I doubt it will be more than 3PP worth. Will Extra Effort a couple of Quickness ranks, so that it won't take more than an hour's worth of work.

As soon as she was give the signal, Sitara ordered the Devotion's main systems into shut-down. There was a booming, reverbing noise, as if a giant wind instrument was being grinded to a hault, as the Devotion slowly stopped dead to its tracks. Only a few emergency lights were still operating in the bridge. Silence followed. Then, after five to ten seconds, the engine came back to life, and the rest of the spacecraft's instruments were restored, one-by-one, as if something had ordered them to. The message once more displayed into the screen. 57:68:61:74:20:68:61:70:70:65:6E:65:64:3F 49:20:68:61:76:65:20:74:6F:20:77:61:6B:65:20:75:70:2E 49:20:63:61:6E:27:74:20:66:65:65:6C:20:6D:79:20:6C:65:67:73:21 49:20:63:61:6E:27:74:20:6C:69:66:74:20:6D:79:20:61:72:6D:73:21 57:68:79:3F 2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:2E:20:57:68:79:3F 48:65:6C:70:20:6D:65:2E 50:6C:65:61:73:65:20:68:65:6C:70:20:6D:65:21 50:6C:65:61:73:65:21 This time, however, it was followed by screeching, electronic noises. The noises would come from every electroacoustic transducer within the Devotion, as if trying to vocallize the signal. The signal seemed to only be expressing itself as the ship's machine-language, when noises that resembled spoken words started mixxing in the static. "... W-... -ppened... ha- ... ake u-..." "... fee- ... legs..." "... -ift... ar..." "H... e... l-.... Pl... -lp m-... P... l- ... ... s... e..." "H... e... l... p... m... e..." "Help.... me..."

Net Fly felt Grimalkin's weight on his shoulder, as the tiny heroine landed on it. It felt as if a can of cola was balancing on Net Fly's shoulder, which made him instictively tense and worried, before realising that the heroine was balancing just perfectly on her own. As she whispered to him what she had heard, he nodded his head and replied, in as low a tone as he could muster. "True, being guarded is good and all, but I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt." Grim left to check up on Gretchen, while Net Fly witnessed Triakosia do the same, flying in the air and waitting for a few moments. Letting down everything he had salvaged, he tried to contact his step-father. He took out his phone and dialed his number from the registry, but it was to no avail; it seemed that the signal reception was horrendeously bad. He flew above the stadium, trying to get better reception, but even though he managed to call Greg's phone, he could not connect with it. "... dammit, Greg... Where are you?..." he said to no one in particular, when Grimalkin's sign flared up, catching his attention. Flying back, he got next to Triakosia, who was waiting by the salvaged machinery. "It's a good thing we managed to save it." He told her. Pointing at the machine she got out, he said "That thing's like your standard ultrasonic generator, but much, much larger. I wouldn't be too surprised if it was the causation behind the eartquake; a regular ultrasonic generator packs enough punch to break down miniscule particles. Still, even so, I can't help but feel like there's something off about it. I mean, all things considered, it was too easy, finding the machine down there, and even the jury-rigged self-destruct mechanism felt too... rushed? obvious? amateurish? I dunno... I could be wrong but... something just smells fishy to me."
-
"Roger that. Be careful, Triakosia." As soon as Kingsnake, with the help of Net Fly, Triakosia, and Grimalkin, was done inspecting the machine and the area around, Net Fly, at the behest of Triakosia, got ready to move out. Soon, the superheroine created the necessary opening, he grabbed whatever he could and made for the exit, and back to the surface. He breathed a sigh of relief when Triakosia emerged unscathed, right behind them. "Well... that could have gone a whole lot worse. Is everyone all right?" A few moments later, Net Fly witnessed the armored hero hovering in the air, proclaiming protection for the people of Sapporo. He could not make a lick of sense out of what this guy was saying, but then he noticed the Namazu Technologies logo on him, and his curiosity was piqued. "This guy... he's from the same company that made that ultrasonic generator we found down bellow... is he threatening the people? Can anyone understand what he's saying?" Net Fly felt his hands clench unconsciously, but the lack of panic from the citizens puzzled him, and the robots seemed to be aiding in the relief efforts, at the armored figure's behest at that. What's going on?...

Hronos nodded at Cavalier and Sun Walker's words, although any hint of sarcasm was completely lost on the Mechanodynamis. "I agree with your observations. I should state that upon entering the World Killer, it is my estimate that we would be unlikely to encounter any non hostile entities." He then turned to Geckoman, who was leaning comfortably on his pilot chair. The young looking-by human standards-hero had been playing at coming off as relaxed and a bit mercurial in his attitude, but Hronos couldn't help but wonder if whether this was but a mask, a non-physical one to match the mask that hid most of his facial features. Nevertheless, Geckoman had been serving adequately enough as their pilot so far, and Hronos felt that he could trust the hero to guide them into the wolves' den. "Could you inform us of our Estimated Time of Arrival for the designated point, Geckoman?"

So. 4 years later, I think I'm due an introduction as well! Hey folks. Most of you know me already, having spend hours upon hours discussing on Chat, but anyways, here goes. My name is Evangelos Galfianakis, or Vaggelis for short. I'm Greek, 27, live in Athens, and when I'm not in front of a computer screen, I'm either playing pool with my best friend, or I'm suffering from PC withdrawal. I love superheroes, videogames, anime, Kim Possible, tabletop games, HIMYM(which ended with Ted and the Mother living happily ever after, thank you very much), Chuck, Beast Wars, and other various TV series. My #1 writter is Terry Pratchett (may he rest in peace). Oh, and most importantly of all Top 20 FF games (From best to worst): 01 - FF VII. Like it or not, this is what people think when they say Final Fantasy, including non-FF fans. 02 - FF X. This is FF Mystic Quest done right. 03 - FF IX. Beautifully crafted worldbuilding. 04 - FF XII. Most Star Wars meets LotR. 05 - FF TA2. Best Job/Race system, though it lacks Morphers. 06 - FF TA. Second Best Job/Race system, due to lacking Gria and Master Monks. 07 - FF II. Most Open World FF, both exploration-wise and character-building-wise. 08 - FF XIV ARR. Best Rebound effort. It saved FF XIV. 09 - FF Legend II. Yes, it's a dolled up instalment. No, it's still more FF than Tactics is. 10 - FF VIII. Most anti-level-grinding FF. 11 - FF V 12 - FF X-2 13 - FF VI 14 - FF III 15 - FF I 16 - FF Adventure 17 - FF 18 - FF CC 19 - FF IV 20 - FF XIII Dishonorary Mentions: 03 - FF Mystic Quest 02 - FF XIV. When you force your creator to publically apologize for making you, you know you've done messed up. 01 - FF Tactics. It's less of an FF game than FF Legends 2. PS: I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Bold statements.

The Jackal drones finally stopped spawning at their alarming rate. Feeling a great weight getting lifted from him, Hronos tried commanding his body to move. "I... appreciate... your concern... but..." Hronos' head spoke to Maxima, as his body slowly and carefully descended. "... I should inform... you that... I possess... the power... to undo this... damage." The overworked Essense of Time sparked purple once more. "You should not worry... The Essense of Time will project... a temporal field... unlike the one I have... been utilizing thus far." Steam and electricity escaped Hronos' main body, due to the excessive damage he'd suffered, but the necessary functions to use the Essense of Time still worked as intended. "This field... will create a temporal paradox that will... cause time to rewind, allowing our... bodies to revert to a previous and healthy state, while maintaining our memories and... non-harmful thoughts of the past... few Earth minutes." With his explanation done, the Essense of Time shot waves of temporal energy, engulfing the immediate area in a purple-hued ball. True to his words, the Temporal Field healed Hronos' most serious of injuries, causing his head to vanish from Maxima's arms, and seemingly reconnect back to the rest of his body. The others also felt the effects of the field. "I have been relieved of any immediate danger." He stated, as he checked his rotor functions around his neck.

"Triakosia!" Net Fly responded surprised, upon being hailed by the heroine. "Likewise, we could have done without the lethal earthquake, but it's still reassuring seeing familiar faces, especially given the circumstances." he commented, with a slightly sad tone. Not long ago, Net Fly, Triakosia, and Grimalkin had all joined forces with other heroes, in order to lend a hand in dealing with the Communion invasion on Earth. When the dust appeared to have settled in, and in an emotionally charged moment, Net Fly had unmasked himself in front of his comrades, and they, in turn, had shared their secret identities with him. As such, he didn't feel apprehensive in heeding Triakosia's summons. "Of course, you can count on me." Looking at the rest of the relief's efforts picking up the pace, Net Fly excused himself, saying that he was gonna join the investigation team. The people thanked him for his efforts, as Net Fly followed Triakosia down the hole, to where Kingsnake had been. Though the grim hero startled Net Fly, the young hero didn't take long to focus his efforts into helping Kingsnake and the others search the machine for clues. Net Fly himself tried to crack his brain, in an effort to make sense of what it was he was seeing exactly.

Net Fly tried his level best to help the injured, a task made more difficult by the fact that many of them could only speak Japanese. Thankfully, some of the locals who could converse in English with some ease were giving him a hand in that regard, and while the young hero lacked the extensive trainning to provide medical assistance on his own, he could still help with clearing the debris, guiding the injured towards the first aid stations, and even administering some very basic first aid himself. He might not have had an extensive trainning in the field, but the lessons in Claremont Academy on the subject had certainly paid off. During his run for survivors, at one point, he spotted a young couple. Probably in their teens. The boy's left leg had been utterly crushed under the debris, while the girl was clinging to him, in her effort to protect him from further injury, her back being full of dust and bricks. Net Fly carried them both, instructing the girl to hold tightly while he made sure he held the boy with both his arms, as he made his way back to the station. There, it appeared that the father of the girl was waitting, scratches running along his face, and blood stainning his stomach, but he appeared to be otherwise fine. A tearful reunion ensued, as the father profusely thanked Serge in his language, bowing again and again as he frantically held the young hero's hands. Serge's mind had gone blank. With all this commotion, he'd lost track of his stepfather too. He wondered whether he was alright, if he had been similarly injured like the boy or... It was thankfully then that he looked outside, and his eyes caught sight of the banner Grimalkin had conjured. He'd already seen a couple of heroes running around, mostly locals from what he'd gathered, but it still did him good, knowing that familiar faces were running around as well. For a moment, he allowed himself a small smirk, in acknowledgement of the weird twists and turns fate seemed to take.

"A real invasion? No, can't say I have." Net Fly responded dejectedly. He clenched his fists, as if to fight off a feeling of shame, before finally gathering his resolve. Removing his mask, Net Fly revealed the face inside his suit, that of Serge Explinker. Fast Forward had already been privy to it, but seeing as the heroes were fighting for a common goal here, one that could very well determine the continued existance of their planet. "But I AM fighting one now, and that's all that counts. My name's Serge. I graduated from Clairemont Academy. Currently, I'm studying Computer Sciences in Freedom City's Hanover Institute of Technology. And I'm gonna do everything in my power to help all of you fend off the invading forces, and you, Mr Fast Forward, to save your daughter." Though some blood trickled from his bitten lip, courtesy of the communion drone's attack, Serge kept a straight and serious face.

Serge's eyes temporarily widened from the surprise, before he instictively closed them to avoid getting any water in his eyes. Great! Last thing I need is to get an infection while trying to change into my 'work clothes'. Splashing sounds accompanied his movements, as Serge maneuvered into a toilet stall, trying to avoid opening his eyes as much as he could. The sight in front of him, inside the stall, was no more pleasant; a horrible odour was fuming from the toilet, the earthquake no doubt having caused some sort of clogging congestion within the piping, that forced the filth of the excrement to bubble back. Serge had to fight the urge to keep the contents of his stomach from being unleashed into the world prematurely. "... ughh... Desperate times." Not seeing much of a choice, Serge closed the door behind him, and climbed into the wall, manipulating his vibration in order to exert force unto the wall, allowing him thus to stick on it, while avoiding the waters on the floor. Taking off his bag, he opened it, uncovering the stashed vibro-suit he always carried with him. "Welp... time to get changed." Serge said, all the while praying that he would not lose his footing or drop his clothes...

Serge perked his eyes as he saw the distant smoke. Already, alarms where going off inside his head, and perhaps thankfully, not due to his inner voice. He immediately stood up, trying to figure out what was going on. Greg noticed this, as he asked "Serge? What's up?" Then, his gaze followed his stepson's, and he too noticed the smoke, allong with mr Takanori. "Did a hooligan do this?" the business man asked, more so so that his thoughts would be vocalized than to hear a reply. "I dunno..." Serge trailled off... and then he saw a familiar figure. It was a figure covered in a suit that looked like one he had come to idolize as a kid, and came to respect as a Claremonter; the suit of Centurion! And wearing this familiar looking suit, was Triakosia, he recognized. "... but I get the feeling that something else is going on... Greg?" His stepfather looked at the superheroine, and then at his son. "Right... So, um... Can you do me a favor and see if you can... um... find a place with good internet reception, Serge?" Gregory said, trying to give him a good excuse. "Maybe the net has some information." Serge didn't need to think twice when given an exit cue. "Gotcha, Greg." "Mr Takanori? I think we should quietly look for someplace safe, whatchathink?" "I think... that there is wisdom in discretion." Serge ran towards the top of the stairs, and when he left the view of his stepfather and mr Takanori, he accelerated, while heading inside the exit and towards the mens' WC.

"Your assumption is correct, Cavalier Kyle Stewart." Hronos responded. "I am confident that I could slow their actions at minimum." Hronos was, in fact, very confident that he could outright stop their enemies on their tracks. It was an ability that had repeatedly proven extremely useful to the Mechanodynamis in the past, especially when he needed to pacify his opponents with minimum force. Hronos listened attentively as Daedalus confirmed the situation regarding the World Killer. The situation sounded as bleak as he had stipulated, but at least they had a working plan. When Cavalier and Argonaut talked about a backup plan, Hronos offered "If the situation requires us to employ the spacecraft as our ammunition while we are still inside the spacecraft, I could employ the Essense of Time and phase us temporally, thus providing us with an emergency escape route."
