  1. Initiative: 1d20+8: 19 [1d20=11] Fire Form COMBAT Attack: +4 Melee, +4 Ranged, +6 Fire Form Grapple: +4 Defense: +8, +2 Flat-Footed Knockback: -3 SAVES Toughness: +6 Fortitude: +4 Reflex: +8 Will: +7
  2. Orokos' display formatting is a bit weird, showing the total result first and the dice roll second. 6 is what Hronos rolled on the d20, BEFORE applying his Initiative Bonus, which is +8, for a total of 14. Anyways, since they attack first(a surprise attack round, perhaps?), Hronos has been caught flat-footed, so rolling a Concentration roll: 1d20+4: 17 [1d20=13] If 17 is enough to keep his Defensive Roll on Toughness, then add +4 to the following save: 1d20+8: 21 [1d20=13] So it's either 21 or 25. Regardless, Hronos will use Time Stop, a Full-Round Distracting Area Stun on the jackals. DC20 vs Reflex, in a 1'000ft Selective Area. Hronos is now Distracted (Flat-Footed)
  3. Initiative Roll: 1d20+8: 14 [1d20=6] Not terribly good, but it will do.
  4. Indeed it does. 14 base defense -2 due to All Out attack sums up to a +4 Autofire bonus! ... Yeap, he dead: 1d20+10: 12 [1d20=2] Also, Pitch gains the following trait Tarot Occultism +5 circumstantial Bonus to all Knowledge and Sense Motive skills in regards to Tarot Cards, anyone, and anything closely associated with them.
  5. Set AND Sekhmet? Jerry was confounded by the fact that he was in the pressence of two people who very well might be actual, honest-to-goodness deities. Sun Walker - the monkey looking person - appeared to be very polite, though he seemed to be very focused and composed. The woman named Miras came off as a strong and selfconfident person, but unlike Sekhmet who appeared more stoic, she at least seemed more sociable. Whoever, the one in the bunch provoking Jerry with genuine fear and gravitas was Arrowhawk. His entire demeanor screamed <been there, done that, seen everything>, paradoxically, even more than the self-professed gods. Seeing everyone take off, in a rush, Meatheral decided to stop deliberating, and take action. Well, everyone's in a hurry, so I doubt I'll be getting anywhere anytime soon if I don't make a choice. And since speed may be in order... as he made up his mind, Meatheral opened his mouth and shouted a spell. "IGNIS IN ME COMBURIT!" His body started catching fire, and after a second or two, it begun to break down in a biological level, and giving way to a body that was comprised entirely of flames. "In that case, I will be heading off as well." He said to Miras and Arrowhawk, his voice coming out with the intensity of a burning furnace, as he concentrated his flames into giving him a boost of movement. Flying like a rocket made out of fire, Meatheral closely followed Miras' trail not too long after her.
  6. well, I see no reason to disappoint the masses. Taking a full round action to transform into Fire Form. Then, moving all out using Flight at 250mph speed
  7. Knowledge [Arcane Lore] DC5: You realise that there is a certain mystical symbolism behind the number of items the Magician is using. 4 is a strong symbolic number, in religion, philosophy, and magic, whether one talks about the 4 classical elements, or the 4 Noble Truths of Buddhism, the 4 Heavenly Kings, the Tetragrammaton, the four Cardinal Directions, and the Four Gospels. Knowledge [Popular Culture] DC5: The Magician and The Fool are often mentioned together when in the context of the Tarot cards. DC10: More Specifically, The Fool and The Magician belong to the Major Arcana, a suit of 22 cards often and popularly used for divination purposes. Each card has a number assigned to them, with the Fool being number 0, and the Magician being number 1. DC15: The Fool represents a traveler, someone who seeks to experience The World in all its totality, while remaining oblivious to the dangers that lie ahead, even under his own nose. He is a trickster, and is often depicted as being accompanied by >a dog, and holding a staff. The Magician represents the potential of a new adventure. He has learned a few things, and acts as a guide, but he is often rash and tends to misinterpret knowledge. He is often depicted having four items in his posetion, a sword, a chalice, a disk, and a wand, each symbolising one of the Minor Arcana (Spade, Cup, Diamond, and Club respectively). DC20: Besides divination, the Tarot Cards, and more specifically, the Major Arcana, are used to examine the cycle of one's life in search of Answers, or The Journey as it is referred. To that end, the cards' numbering is significant, as when viewed in order, they reveal the story of that Journey. The number 0 fits the Fool, as while on its own the number is empty and meaningless, it represents the begining of the story, before the Journey comenses, and it holds infinite potential within. The number 1 fits the Magician, who acts as the first gatekeeper, opening up the door for the Fool to pass and start his Journey proper. As a whole, the Fool represents the Protagonist of the Journey, while all the other 21 Major Arcana represent the various facets of humanity or human archetypes. DC25: The Fool's dog represents the Fool's animal desires, and he frequently acts as a distraction to the Fool's Journey. The Fool's staff on the other hand acts as an offset to the Fool's obliviousness, representing Wisdom. The four Minor Arcana are 52 suit cards. They are comprised of four suits. The objects that the Magician holds represent each one of those suits, and they have their own connotations. The Staff represents creativity and will, the Disk represents material body and possessions, the Chalice represents emotions and love, and the Sword represents reason. The Magician is often depicted as pointing to the sky and the ground at once, an allusion to the hermetic lesson "As above, so bellow" meaning that mastery in one field can lead to mastery of another. Knowlede [Theology] DC5: See Knowledge [Arcane Lore] DC5 DC10: Furthermore, the number 4 features heavily in divination and in suit cards, such as the Tarot Arcana. While many cultures view the number as a symbol of prosperity and harmony, in some languages such as Japanese and Chinese, "Shi" is the pronounciation of both the number 4 and the word "death". As such, in these languages, 4 is oft held and feared as an ominous number. DC15: The Tarot Cards are sometimes falsely associated with Satanic worship and demons. While it is true that some of the cards, and most specifically The Devil, depict demonic imagery, they are more correctly connected to the Hermetic Order. In fact, The Magician is commonly thought to be Hermes Trismegistus, or at least a major aspect of him Bluff Check vs Sense Motive: Autofail due to low Cha (-2 mod) and no Bluff Skill ranks. There is no killer intent to be had from the Magician's actions and demeanors. He is more focused on making a spectacle than actually killing anyone. However, he is more than ready to hurt the humans and Carmen, and he doesn't appear to be the reasonable sort, more than willing to fight to his death. Nevertheless, Pitch can tell from his actions so far that the Magician views himself as more of a didactic entity than an outright antagonist, and while he isn't willing to directly divulge in his knowledge, he is more than happy to part Carmen with cryptic advice.
  8. "... Right." Even though he had heard quite a few things about Fast-Forward, one of the many superheroes the Claremont Academy had held a presentation about, Net Fly couldn't help but be somewhat weary. Not because he distrusted him, of course, but because he was unsure what a still largely untested and wet-behind-the-ears hero such as himself could do to actually help. That the Scarab vouched for him didn't help things, making Serge feel pushed further into the spotlight, though it did raise his confidence somewhat as well. Regardless, it was obvious that whatever was wrong, Fast-Forward was very urgent, and he didn't argue with the superhero. Opening his bag, he took out the vibro-suit that he had stashed inside, a custom made suit equipped with vibration amplifiers and gadgets, and with the help of Fast-Forward, he changed clothes in a matter of instances. Hiding his street clothes inside the bag, and stashing it in a safe place that he held near his home, Net Fly took Fast-Forward's hand. "Let's do thiiiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-" "-IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!!!" Net Fly had told his mother that running with Fast-Forward would be a completely new experience for him, and while it was true that as Net Fly, he could run and fly at extremely high speeds, the feeling of running with Fast-Forward had so far dwarfed his previous experiences so as to let them eat dust. While Fast-Forward was busy knocking, Net Fly was trying to recover from the shock. He managed to find his bearings just as Lynn came to the door, and shouted "Ohmygod, this was INCREDI-no-AMAZING! The sheer speed, we must have broken the barrier of sound so many times over, I could barely hear my own thoughts! How do you DO that?" He asked Fast-Forward, completely drunk on speed. "How do you manage to run so fast, without losing control of your movements? You HAVE to te-" Finally noticing Lynn and Fast-Forward talking, he meekly apologized. "Oh, um, sorry. Got a bit carried away there... Don't mind me..." He scratched the back his headmask in utter embarrassment.
  9. "My, wha-? Science? My Serge didn't tell me any-" Catherine said, confused over the sudden revelation. Moreover, Fast-Forward's explanation came at too fast a pace, making it even harder for her to keep up. "Ah! That's right! The science essay!" Gregor hastily covered. "Didn't I tell you, honey? Heh, must have slipped my mind. It was only last week that Serge and I were talking about it about it. Isn't that right, Serge?" He nudged his stepson. Taking the cue, Serge laughed nervously as he said "Ah, yes, yes! That's right! I DID tell you that I was working on an important project for my university, all these days, didn't I?" conveniently referring to his crimefighting doubleshifts. "Now that you tell me..." Catherine aqcuiesced, still a bit doubtful about the whole scene. "Oh, come on, honey. Don't you see that Fast-Forward is in a rush? It wouldn't do to delay them any more, now would it? I'm sure that Fast-Forward has other things to do as well." "Ah... Ah, yes, I suppose..." "Well, Serge? What are you waiting for, boy? Get going!" "Ah, that's right!" Serge finally found the strength to get up. "Sorry mom, I know I promised you that I would spend the day with you two. Uh, I'll make it up to you, I promise!" "Honestly, Serge... well, no use worrying about that." She finally gave in. "Just make sure you don't cause any trouble for Fast-Forward. Just because a super hero is supervising you, doesn't mean you should be trying any reckless stunts." "A-as if I'd do that!" He protested, as he headed for the door, before stopping abruptly. "Ah! I forgot to take my notes- uh, my notebook, I mean!" He rushed to his room, taking his old schoolbag and wearing it. "And what would you need your notebook, exactly?" His mom inquired. "Ah, well, see... I have some programms that would help me analyse various phenomena that would occur during our high speed travel! It's... uh, gonna be a new experience for me, and I want to make sure I make the most of it!" Serge said, as he dashed to the door. "... Just make sure to keep enough attention to actually experience the trip yourself..." She said, moments after the door had shut. turning to Gregory, she asked. "Do you think he'll be alright?" Gregory just smiled at her. "It's Serge we're talking about here. You know he's a responsible young man." All the while assuring his wife, Greg silently gave his support to his stepson. Go knock 'em dead, buddy. It was only a few minutes later that Catherine noticed that Serge had not taken his laptop with him. "Honestly, that boy..." she smiled, rationalizing that he must have forgotten to actually put the laptop in his bag. Serge's heart was about to burst, but he managed to keep his composure long enough until he was far enough from his appartment. "Uh, sorry about that, mr Fast-Forward. My mom doesn't really know about my, uh... masked endeavors." Taking a sigh of relief, he put his game face on, and cut to the chase. "So, what's the sitch?"
  10. Serge was having a rather peaceful Christmas day. Though news of the imminent invasion had been spreading in the media, the reporters seemed to be rather dismissive of the threat, citing that a lot of heroes, prominently including the Freedom League, would be ensuring that no one would be able to lay so much as a hand on our Earth. Had the heroes not fought off the Omega, time and again? Didn't they deal with the Gorgon? Serge had to agree that the reporters were making a compelling case, and he knew that in space, he wouldn't be much of a help; after all, his powers rely on vibrations, and vibrations require a medium; even if he could somehow operate in space, the lack of any medium, such as air, would mean that most of his powers would be rendered unuseable. Still, he couldn't help but wonder whether there was something he himself could do to help. He had decided, thus, that he should be following the news very closely for any crime that might occur. What with most other heroes occupied in space, the world was very vulnerable, and though many villains would be too smart by half to try and make trouble, given that their own survival rested in the balance, there was no shortage of brazen dastards who would take any advantage they could get. Serge assumptions had proven themselves correct, thus far, and Net Link has had to pull doubleshift duty in his regular patrols. In fact, today had been the only day in the last two weeks, that Serge could finally rellax and spend some time with his family. They were having fun playing cards, when they heard someone knocking on the door. "Oh? What's that?" Serge asked, as soon as he heard the knock. "I dunno. It seems we have visitors." his stepfather, Gregory, answered. He seemed a bit rough around the edges, and somewhat gruff, but he didn't look mean either. "Here, lemme go check." "Now now, dear. Don't worry, I've got this." Catherine replied, already on her way to the door. She looked like a pleasent woman, but sometimes, she could give one the impression that she wasn't quite dealing with a full deck. "Ah. Are you sure, honey?" "Please, it's ok." She smiled at him, and then she looked through the peeper in her appartment's door. "Hmmm?" She noticed Fast-Forward standing outside, and holding a wreath in his hand. As soon as she registered the decoration, she made a takeback, before looking again. "There's... where have I..." She murmured, trying to place the man's costume and face. "What's the matter, Cathy?" Gregory asked, while Serge perched up out of curiosity. "Ah, that's right, it's that hero from the TV!" Before Greg and Serge could react, she opened the door, completely oblivious to the surprised and terrified looks of both her husband and child, and opened the door. "Why, mister Fast-Forward, thank you for your kind gesture. It's not everyday that a hero comes to our neighborhood. Please, come in!" "Ummm... Greg?!" Serge whispered in a conspiratorial manner to his Stepfather, who replied in equally hush tones with. "Uhuh, I hear ya."
  11. Alrighty then. As soon as Hronos Arrives at the landing site, he will be doing some quick investigating. More Specifically: Using his Chronal attunement and taking 10 to Notice (Total: 24) if there are any temporal/chronal effects in the works, in a 189 miles radius, just in case. Taking 10 on Notice (Total: 24) using his regular senses, to see if he can find anything in particular that stands out about the site. Knowledge [Technology]: 1d20+10: 29 [1d20=19]
  12. Pitch may attempt any and all of the following, if she wishes: -Knowledge (Arcane Lore)/Knowledge (Philosophy and Theology)/Knowledge(Popular Culture) Roll on the Magician. -Sense Motive Roll on the Magician.
  13. GM Post One demon fell to Pitch's metal barrage, the spear-like steel rods driving deep onto him and rendering him dead. The other demon, however, managed to avoid the attack, and even the hail of gunfire that the two humans had been throwing at him wasn't enough to dent him. "I am the Magician, Daughter of the Cursed Cane, and you are the Fool." The Magician replied, and the Chalice that floated next to him came into view. With a wave of his hand, the Magician ordered the Chalice to target Pitch. "Heed my warnings, demontouched; if you persist on your current path, you will find that a long road lies ahead of you, and should you lose your will to press on, you may find yourself unable to take even the first step." With a snap of his fingers, the Chalice, as if obeying a command, poured out its bluish contents onto Pitch. The substance seemed to have a will of its own, and followed Pitch behind the rubble, surrounding her, and slowly sapping her willpower in the process. Meanwhile, the last standing sentinel demon flew above Pitch, and drove his spear to her, nicking her in the process. Riddles and allegories! The Magician sounds as if he is alluding to something. Tazel noted.

  16. GM Post The three demons that were attacking the humans were met with a metalical onslaught that reduced them to shreds. "And you are too blind to realise that you have been caught in a quicksand; the more you struggle, the faster you will sink in. " The Magician replied, ever the spectator, while their remains burned with the familiar blue flame. "Weapons to auto, Smithson. Open fire." "Yes, ma'am." The Captain and Smithson concentrated their fire on one of the two demons, who tried to repel their fire using his weapon, and while the bullets managed to overwhelm his efforts through sheer numbers, they ultimately failed to hit even a single vital spot. "Blasted abomination." William spat. "Don't lose focus, Smithson. Alternate fire with me, and keep close to the servants." The Captain calmly proclaimed, and the two continued their covering fire, while also trying to protect their fallen comrades from further sustainning damage. Whether this would prove a vain effort or not, one couldn't tell, but the two humans were not about to give up on them. The Demon lost no time turning its attention to Pitch, who was burning white hot with fury, and once again, attempted once again to slice her off in conjuction with its last remainning companion.
  17. Initiative Order Magician: 30 (NPC) Demons: 16 (Minions) x2 Pitch: 8 (8 HP, Fatigued) Humans: 2 (NPCs) x2 The Magician will still hold action for now. The 2 Demons left attack Pitch. 18. GM Post "Do as you wish, Daughter of the Cursed Cane. But can you really afford to be so boisterous, when your wards are so exposed?" The Magician simply waved his hand with mild interest, and on that signal, the sentinel demons charged in, swords and lances raised, as they tried to cut Carmen and the humans into minced meat. The two sentinel demons attacked Pitch from each side, in an attempt to blindside her. The blows came forcefully, but with very little finesse, one aiming to hit Pitch on her stomach, and the other attempting to cleave through her head. While Carmen's attention was occupied, the other three demons flew right past the infernal pressence of Pitch, and they went for Captain, Denis, and Pedro. The Captain, while not military, had some knowledge about close-quarters combat, and managed to avoid the swings that came her way, but Pedro and Denis weren't as lucky. A spear cut through Denis' shoulder, and the demon used the momentum to pin him on the ground. Denis let out a cry as the metal tore flesh and muscle alike, and cut through bone. Meanwhile Pedro had his chest slashed wide open, and the poor man whirled around himself before falling down. Whether the two humans where still alive or dead, it was difficult to say...

  23. Meatheral Knowledge: Arcane Lore DC 5: The arcane elemental powers emanating from Meatheral appear to be closely linked to an ancient book of magic called Tetramegedon. DC 10: Meatheral is fused with the Tetramegedon, also known as Libri Quatuor Elementorum, meaning Book of Four Elements, which is closely linked to other similar tomes of eldritch magic and arcane knowledge, such as the Necronomicon and the Lemegeton. The Tetramegedon addresses the four classical elements, Wind, Earth, Fire, and Water. While the Tetramegedon no longer holds a physical form, it still exists on the metaphysical plane. DC 15: There are many influences to be found in the book's writing, from Classical Hellenistic, Babylonian, Egyptian, Roman, to Hebrew Writings. The book contains spells, methods, charms, and instructions on summoning elementals, controlling the elements, imbuing elemental powers on inanimate objects, using the elements as a divination medium, etc. Curiously, while the book is called Book of the Four Elements, there also appear to be passages referring to a fifth element, called Ether. DC 20: The Tetramegedon Meatheral has possesses a will of its own. According to lore, the book is governed both by a desire of spreading its knowledge, and an instict for selfpreservation. The Tetramegedon is one of the original books that had the works of famous Magi, Alchemists, and Scholars into a single tome. As such, the concentrated magic has made the book an Idol. An Idol can be anyone or anything that possesses phenomenal magic power. There exist a number of copies in the world, and while they don't possess the sheer magical potency of the original, thanks to the original's status as an Idol, the copies share a small portion of its magic, making them Icons of the original. As an Idol, the book is nearly indestructible. DC 25: An Idol shares its powers with its Icons, and any change that happens to the Idol would directly reflect on the Icons. This, for example, is the reason why crosses are hurtful to vampires, or why holy ground repels demons. Conversely, since each individual Icon holds only a small portion of the Idol's power, any change that would happen to the Icon would barely impact the Idol, if at all. However, if said change could happen to a sufficiently large number of Icons, that change would also reflect on the Idol. The practice of people stepping on the picture of Jesus during the Tokugawa era in Japan, also known as Fumi-e, could be seen as such an attempt at forcing a change on the Idol through the Icon. These principles are part of a philosophical law called Mimisis (Koine Greek: Μίμισης, meaning Imitation), and the magic derived from those principles is called Sympathetic or Imitative Magic. Other forms of magic include Contagion Magic which follows the Law of Contagion, and Thelematic Magic which follows the Law of Thelema (as introduced by Aleister Crowley). DC 30: Since the original Tetramegedon merged directly with Meathereal, Meatheral's body became an Idol. As such, Meatheral is subject to the rules governing Idols. Curiously enough, there is a theory that Superheroes and Supervillains can themselves become something akin to Idols, in the context of the Law of Mimisis. Of course, while no doubt powerful, the heroes and villains don't quite possess the sheer magical potency required for them to become Idols. However, it is hypothesized that belief in large quantities could potentially elevate a person to Idol status, or perhaps something similar to that. While this could certainly explain why most Superheroes and Supervillains have managed to escape death on numerous occasions, the fact remains that this is mere academic stipulation, with just as many examples contradicting the theory.
  24. Going through the portal was even less of an easy feat for Jerry, who could have sworn that the Tetramegedon inside him screamed in protest as the shadow magic passed through him. The disorientation from the transmaterialisation he just went through quickly gave way to puzzlement, and then a sense of impeding dread. Not only because his feeling about this being a trap turned out correct, and neither because he found himself a stranger amongst strangers in what could possibly be a foreign land, but because he only now noticed that, in his haste, he had forgot to put his hood and mask on, leaving his face and red hair exposed. "Wait, waitwaitahdammit." he said in a panic, while trying to put his mask back on. "Great, so not only did it turn out to be a trap, now everyone here knows who I am..." he murmured to himself, before thinking Calm down. If these guys were in on it, they'd probably already know even with my mask on, and if they weren't, then at least we might work together to... to, uhhh... biting his lips, Meatheral perched up, as the words of the young man had finally sunk in. "Wait a minute... Set? As in, that boy who is running around and heroing it up in the media, as if he is an ancient egyptian god?" He said, his eyes widening in realization. Now that he could see him clearly, the young man really did look the part, at least, from the few scattered images Jerry had found when surfing for information about this hero. Of course, he was vaguely aware that Set had previously been used as the name of a major supervillain, though that was long before Jerry had been born. What had interested Jerry more, however, was the fact that Set was the name of a powerful Egyptian Deity, one that had been known to antagonize the other gods, and especially his brother Osiris and his nephew Horus. "Well... that's.... something." He really couldn't find any words. The magic that summoned him there was the real deal, as far as he knew, and a strange feeling of vague uneasyness stirred inside him. Could this boy really possess the powers of the god Set? Considering that said god was not one for making deals with humans, that certainly didn't bode well for the god's namesake, and neither for Meatheral, for that matter. At least, when the others spoke, Jerry felt somewhat relieved. If anything, they don't appear to be feigning ignorance. A small comfort, to be sure, but I'll take it. "I can't say I know much of our host, nor do I claim to know the inner trappings of his mind, but if he is channeling the modus operandi of his namesake even a little, then I'd say that the misdirection bit would be par for the course. Set WAS a trickster god, after all, one known for using underhanded methods to achieve his goals." Meatheral responded, going by his knowledge on the subject.
