"No. It's never the wisest course." Stronghold didn't know what to say. Her parents would, so would Kalani, but she... Haukea knew her own limitations, and convincing people was definitely one of them. She never was that good at talking to people she didn't know. "Maybe the supervillains could do more if non-supers weren't there, but..." She looked out at the city, raising the platform to the roof. Well away from the edge. "If you're not there, what point is there to us?"

Michael Fields passed Caradoc as the hero walked into the room, revealing Catherine Fields- now not in her superhero costume, she greeted the new entrant into her room with a nod. "What a day, huh." She sighed, sitting up and looking at him. "City's saved, the villain revealed... today's a day for revelations, it seems. My own personal ones... actually aren't that big. The people who'd be inclined to strike at me through family would already be inclined to strike at us." With a look down at her leg, she grimaced. "The doctors say I'm not going to walk again without a cane or a brace- the damage to my muscles means they can't really support my weight. Given some work and clever use of powers, I think I can get around that, actually, at least for short bursts." Catherine chuckled. "They're the same injuries as my mum got during the last Terminus invasion, actually. Turns out, she was a superhero herself. Went by Armory, used a suit built by dad." Her gaze returned to Caradoc- becoming a lot more like the look he'd seen that night, when she was bleeding onto the floor and yet was determined to do something. "And while this incident became a lot larger, both the Australian part of the Terminus invasion and this incident started with the... Sword of the Liberator, was it. What is that sword, anyway, and what does it have to do with the Terminus?"

Meanwhile, Vector nodded at the unharmed occupants, while still wincing slightly. This would take... some explaining, wouldn't it. She jumped out, landing just inside the destroyed hole, and then casting a look over the assembled patrons to see if she could see MacGruther. As well as looking for any weapons, anyone who might be about to cause trouble... she had to keep an eye out for a load of different things, and meanwhile make sure that this went off without anyone who wasn't directly involved getting hurt. Still, if it resulted in these weapons getting out of Australia, it would be well worth it in her view. Just had to make sure that happened.

Player Name: horngeek Character Name: Shiranui (ä¸çŸ¥ç«) Power Level: 8 (120PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Young Japanese immigrant to America who's unknowingly become the host of Amaterasu herself. Alternate Identity: Haruko Miyamoto Identity: Secret Birthplace: Japan Occupation: Student Affiliations: Kami (Unknown) Family: Father (Daisuke Miyamoto), Mother (Hinata Miyamoto) Description: Age: 16 (DoB: Year [Optionally, Day & Month]) Apparent Age: 16 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Japanese Height: Weight: Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Haruko is, in many ways, a fairly typical Japanese teenager (if a rather pretty one). She's fairly short in America, with a build that is fairly slender, and normally keeps her back-length hair back with a headband. Her fair skin and brown eyes complete the picture. When in 'civilian' outfits, she again dresses fairly typically. She's got the sort of face that doesn't actually need all that much makeup, but she generally wears clothing that is comfortable yet still fashionable. {Costume to be determined} Power Descriptions: (Describe what their powers look like, if applicable) History: Sometimes, the acts of gods, wise mages, and hate-twisted spirits come together in the strangest way. This would be one of those times... but where to begin the tale. Perhaps you could begin it with telling about the life of Haruko Miyamoto, the daughter of a businessman who came to America to work in Freedom City for his company back in Japan. But while every life is interesting... Perhaps the more relevant tale would be that of Hiroshima Shadow, and the goddess Amaterasu. The demon born of a man-made sun had always had the desire to supplant the kami of the Sun- although in years past, she always planned this in terms of supplanting Amaterasu in the minds of the people. In more recent times, however, she (through a series of events) came to join the Crime League, fighting by their side... And the Crime League made options available that the Shadow could not pursue on her own. More... direct means. And an idea formed. Oh, it took time. Medea's own antipathy towards her own gods likely had an influence. And... where were the gods when the bombs fell, hmm? Maybe her supplanting of Amaterasu should be a little more... literal. A little questioning towards Medea confirmed that what she was planning was, indeed, possible. The sorceress was quite willing to give out information in this matter, although when it came time, she was engaged with her own projects. She did, however, point Hiroshima Shadow towards someone who might well be able to do the task. Pull Amaterasu down to the mortal realm... and just as importantly, make her oh so vulnerable. Finally, the night came. The ritual was prepared, and Hiroshima Shadow waited with eager breath to take Amaterasu's power. The spell was cast... and in the heavens, Amaterasu screamed as the spell tore her away from her home. And then the unexpected happened. Even with Hiroshima Shadow providing power beyond what the sorcerer could draw on his own, it was nowhere near enough to pull down the kami of the Sun by brute force. The ritual, instead, had relied on subtlety and a well-placed strike, and that was its undoing- while Amaterasu was hurt and forced down from Heaven, she was still able to overpower the part of the spell that would have forced her where the ritual directed. Fleeing, seeking shelter, she managed to find it, slipping into the being of a teenage girl named Haruko as she was sleeping… then starting to rest herself, her presence known by none. Hiroshima Shadow's rage was… a sight to behold. She avoided killing her partner, certainly, but that was mostly because he was able to confirm that the ritual had… mostly worked. Amaterasu had been dragged down, they just had to find the person acting as host. And meanwhile, Haruko woke up, rapidly finding out she had power to create light, but not knowing why. Her parents were concerned, obviously, but they didn't have the connections to figure out what was happening…. and so, after some contacts were made, strings were pulled, and discussions had, Haruko was enrolled at Claremont Academy. Only time will tell what may result. Personality & Motivation: (Describe why they do what they do here) Powers & Tactics: (In-character descriptions of how they do what they do) Complications: Secret: Haruko, like many other superheroes, chooses to keep her identity a secret, and this could cause her a major amount of trouble if the secret got out. Amaterasu-Åmikami: Haruko doesn't know it. Her family doesn't know it. But being the host of one of the most powerful and influential deities of the Japanese pantheon gives her a metaphysical weight that could very easily be used for the wrong kind magical working. And those capable of such a working are likely to be able to tell. To say nothing of the reactions of other gods, both Shinto and otherwise. "Um... aren't the Grue aliens, and they're shapeshifters, Thoughtspeed. So, just looking innocent might not mean anything." Stronghold waved her device around. "Well, if it's all peaceful, that's good, right Cho? I mean, superhero stuff is important, but... um, well, if things get resolved without fighting, isn't that better than fighting?" After all, that way there was less chance of collateral damage, people getting hurt... She looked at Cho. "I don't think it's a punishment. More a test?"

Stronghold smiled. "Good work!" She maintained the wall around the strongest drone- that one looked like they should all try to handle it together, without the other drones distracting them. To that end... "Okay... let's try this out..." A construct appeared in the air beside the heroine, looking something like a large spear. Haukea looked at the spear... focused... And the spear suddenly shot forwards, towards the flying drone... right past it, as it nimbly dodged. Stronghold growled under her breath, frustrated at herself.

Vector nodded, following Silvia, and listening to the speech. She smiled at the last comment. "All right." She ran through some stretches, getting ready. She wasn't overly concerned that anything could hurt her, really. Not normal guns, at least- if they had any more of those strange guns, there might be some trouble... but on the other hand, she'd handled those all right. The major concern, really, was that McGruther didn't get away. She'd have to move fast. "I'm ready. Anywhere I need to be to deploy?"

Stronghold frowned as she considred what to do next. She wasn't sure her constructs would be effective- or rather, she wasn't sure she could tone them down. Might need to look into that. That said... she thought for a moment. Could she bind the Collective somehow? Conventional wisdom might say that binding a swarm would be next to impossible, but... The Orange Ring blazed with a brilliant glow, as she brought up her hand, focusing on what she wanted. Something that could bind each member of the swarm, or at least the vast majority of them... while still allowing attacks to pass through. In the end, the construct she made looked something like orange-tinted plastic wrap, settling down over the bulk of the Collective and pinning it down. Haukea's forehead was glistening with sweat as she opened her eyes, the young heroine breathing out. "Okay... let's see if that works."

Right! Stronghold casts Snare! ...on a Swarm. This will be interesting. And a result of 26, aaaaaaw yeah.

Maintaining the Create Object around the Strong Drone with a free action. At the same time, Blast to sent a hunk of rock the way of the flying drone... Rolls a result of 14.

Stronghold paused for a second as what the businessman was saying sunk in. "...what." She looked at him in disbelief. "Bur-" Disbelief that was rapidly turning to almost anger. "A BURDEN?" Maybe not almost. "You think you're a burden just because you don't have powers? That anyone who doesn't have powers is a burden? My parents? My sister? None of them have powers, and none of them are burdens, and they never will be! On me, or anyone else! And neither are you." She looked at him, her anger starting to fade. "Please. Don't jump."

"Um. I'm not entirely sure what my powers would be best for in a competition format. Building stuff, sure, but, um, I don't think any of the traditional 'hero' stuff." Haukea paused. "Um. Assuming they're interested in that sort of thing, they might not be. I suppose I could do weightlifting? The Orange Ring doesn't really boost that to superhuman, I suppose, but it's something..." She looked at Coach Yaeger. "Wait. Um, sir, that sounded like the 'no recordings' was a request by Claremont, not New Freedom..." The sentence trailed off as Haukea thought.

Vector's eyes narrowed as she saw the symbol on the screen, and she rapidly put two and two together- hopefully, she'd gotten four and not sixteen, but she had a hunch... She activated the communications device that Caradoc had given her, speaking quickly but clearly. "Caradoc, Argonaut. I managed to break into Newman's files, and the... somewhat good news is, there's no traps in Perth for the heroes lured there. That's a decoy, and nothing else." She paused for a moment. "He's been moving a lot of his holdings, though, and he's been moving them right here to this building. What's more, he doesn't have any entries scheduled after today- there's only the Omega symbol. That's why he made such an obvious play, whatever he's got planned tonight, the... cover... isn't necessary after that. And while I can't tell what the plan is... he woke up a minute ago, and he's only made one comment. About how I'd look good in red and black. Dismissed it as a taunt when he made it, but now..." Vector paused for a second. "What's down there?"

Actually, Vector got the reference there, she just chose not to respond directly. She's looking for any signs of the rest of Newman's plans, especially any nasty surprises in Darwin (for them) or Perth (for the rest of the Aussie superheroes). She is not, at the moment, looking for any information on his operations as a whole.
-
Well, if you mean Knowledge (Technology)... Vector nets herself a 16 there. And a 26 in Computers.

"Um. Cho. I think it was a joke. Although..." Haukea seemed slightly nervous for some reason. Well, more nervous than usual- Will and Cho were likely familiar with how awkward she was with people she hadn't met before, and this seemed... more so. "Well, it's always good to be sure. So, losing might be fine, but we need to make sure that... um... we at least put up a good effort."

On one note, aaargh forgot to add in voice colors. ...on the other note, AA, you've just given me an NPC idea.

"Oh. You're awake." Vector didn't look at Newman, continuing to look through the computer files, especially for anything that was secured. Meanwhile, she continued talking- distraction from the pain, why not. "Interesting choice of words. I will look lovely in red and black? I mean, apart from a fashion choice, I get what you're implying, and what I want to know is why the hell would I want to do that? I mean, personal reason to hold a grudge against the Terminus-" She broke off, looking down at her leg, which she had sticking out to keep it (relatively) comfortable. "Personal reasons, make that. Anyway, personal reasons aside, I'm not a bloody insane nihilist."
-
Vector nodded. "You're probably better at the tactical planning side of things, so let's go with that. After that, we just need to find out what exactly his game here is." Her expression darkened. "And where he got these things from, for that matter. All right, let's do this."
