"Don't I know that." Both twins gave each other a look, before turning back to Will. "Ooooooh... that's lovely. That must have taken a lot of effort... and it's so lifelike! Well, realistic-like, but you know what I mean..." Haukea leant down, admiring the castle as Kalani grinned. "Kea'll be out of it for a bit- she gets like that. Anyway, we're actually going to different schools this year- Kea got an offer from Claremont, probably for being as brainy as she is. That right, sis?" "Hm?" Haukea looked up, blinking. "High schools. You're going to Beaumont High School." "...have you been practicing paying attention while looking at stuff?" "Er... maybe?"

Kalani nodded in appreciation at the change in Will's tone, as she crossed her arms, trying to deal with a renewed burst of wind- which Haukea seemed to completely ignore. "Blegh. You're lucky, Kea, you've got the- well, you've gotten better at dealing with the cold than I have." She continued as if she hadn't almost slipped, resolving to talk with Will in more detail about her problems with the flirting if time permitted. She didn't want Haukea to get taken advantage of emotionally, not shut her sister off entirely. Both sisters started following, trying to take Will's advice. Haukea smiled. "Thanks. It's hard keeping an eye on the snow while we're watching everything else- sis, shiny patch." "Huh? Oh, thanks." Kalani sidestepped the patch of slippery ice that Haukea had pointed out, keeping quiet for the most part right now as Haukea continued speaking. "Anyway, mom didn't have too much trouble- she mentioned driving in snow before, although she didn't tell me when."

Haukea nodded at Mali's comment about her being muscular, then blinked as she continued. "Wait, why would they think that? You're... um. Much more attractive than I am." She blushed slightly, although unconsiously, as she looked at Mali. "It shouldn't matter who's stronger or not, anyway. People can be dumb like that, though..." She listened as she followed the Thai girl, nodding. "Bit intimidating, in a way. I mean, there are so many amazing people here, and... well..." She shrugged. "I'm... just me. I suppose people saw something in me, or I wouldn't be here, but still." She shrugged. "Like I said... kinda intimidating."
-
Haukea smiled smightly, a blush still on her cheeks. "Yeah, we figured that bit out... it's more the slipping." Actually, Haukea didn't look all that cold, to be honest. To an alert eye, it almost seemed like the coat and scarf was as much for show as anything else, compared to Kalani, who was shivering slightly. "Speak for youself, Kea... yeah, we're from Hawai'i. Dad picked out names in Ōlelo Hawaiʻi specifically, though, a lot of people don't have names from the language anymore." "Or speak it, although there's a lot of work being done to revive the language recently..." Kalani nodded. "Anyway, yeah, we are here to see the sculptures. More than just a pair of cute twins!" Despite the joking tone in her voice, she gave a pointed look at William, unseen by Haukea.

Vector frowned as soon as the Omega Mob was mentioned, a frown that deepened as the men went on. "...they've never done anything involving high-tech weapons, though." The heroine looked at the man on the ground, thinking. If the men had been told the truth, the Omega Mob was branching out into new, and really worrying, grounds. After all, a gang that outright called itself the Omega Mob? Her fist clenched at remembering how her mother still had to use a cane to walk, twenty years after the invasion. After that level of damage that had been caused... any group that called themselves something like that was either made up of young idiots, or the dangeous kind of crazy. Either way, they needed to go down. On the other hand... something didn't fit. Where did the Mob get the weapons in the first place, how could this guy have stolen the weapons, and why not turn them over to the police? She sighed. "I think someone's been lying to you. Can you tell me anything you know about him?"

The Plot: The usual celebrations are going on in Sydney on Australia Day, when suddenly, a monster appears out of Sydney Harbor! Can the PCs SAVE AUSTRALIA DAY? The Characters: Whoever has the means and motive to be in Sydney for the Australia Day celebrations! Maybe you're there to put in an appearance at the League party that night, or just there for the parties in general, it doesn't matter much. I will note that the planned monster for use is PL13, so keep that in mind. The Tone: Fairly light-hearted. This is a fun fight against a Monster Of The Week, poking good-natured fun at silly monster movies (and the cliches involed). We're not being too serious with this plot. So, who's interested in my first attempt at GMing something? :D

Australia, Earth-Prime Several countries around the world have demographic (or geographical) situations that mean the 'traditional' approach to superhero teams doesn't entirely work for one reason or another. Australia is one of these nations. The Australian Superhero Network The Australian Superhero Network is a fairly unique superhero 'team', so far, although some other nations have looked at mimicking its structure. It is not a superhero team in the traditional sense, in fact. Due to the sheer size of the Australian continent, combined with the low population density across most of the country, the Australian Superhero Network is less a permanent 'team' and more a support network for every superhero in Australia, established in the early 2000s by the Huntsman with the support of business magnate Michael Fields, and provides two primary services; Support The first function of the Australian Superhero Network is to provide services to superheroes in a confidential manner- health care, legal services and training are offered to superheroes, without the risk of their identities being revealed. Coordination The second funtion of the Network is one of coordination- if a superhero finds themselves in the middle of a situation that they cannot handle on their own (whether they've encountered a supervillain too powerful to defeat alone, or whether they need help on a matter outside their area of expertise), they may contact the Network, describing their situation, which is then considered and a nearby superhero is asked to provide the required assistance- or one of the few 'permanent' members of the Network is dispatched. The Network also often provides alerts to local heroes of their own developing situations. The Network headquarters is located in Sydney, on the upper part of the Sydney Tower. Australian Heroes Australian heroes tend to have a similar range of abilities as other nations, although the low population density tends to favor those with movement abilities across flat terrain. On the other hand, the concentration of population in the cities can favor city-dwelling heroes as well. Below are the two 'permanent' members of the Australian Superhero Network, based out of Sydney. >The Huntsman: The leader of the Network, Huntsman is an oddity among superheroes for several reasons- his public identity as Samuel West. being the most notable. While he has the ability to manipulate magnetic fields, the common joke among Australian superheroes is that his magnetism is a secondary power- his real superpower is that he's ex-SAS (and a former Major- Huntsman is actually a carryover nickname from his days in the SAS), and therefore is an utter badass. Huntsman takes said jokes in good humor, and overall deals fairly well with the various superheroes he ends up working with, his leadership skills as an officer serving him fairly well as a leader now. When he takes to the field- which is fairly often, as he likes to keep his skills sharp- Huntsman wields either a combat knife or a baton depending on whether he's fighting human foes or not, and uses his magnetic powers in combination with his significant hand-to-hand skills in a combination that often dominates any fight he finds himself in. His uniform consists of a leather jacket over a morphic molecule suit, in which he keeps his knife and baton. >Cloudrunner II: Cloudrunner, a Torres Strait Islander with dark skin and hair the color of sand, was referred to as Funnel until two years ago, when she and the first Cloudrunner (a Paragon-type superhero) went up against the villain Redback (if relevant, use >this sheet). Cloudrunner was mortally injured during the battle, and his final act was to be deliberately ‘drained’ by Funnel, allowing her to defeat Redback. However, unlike normally, she kept the ‘drained’ powers, and took up Cloudrunner’s name and legacy. She wears a blue bodysuit with a white stripe running down one side of her body, and is fairly quiet personally.

Edit discussed with player and request withdrawn - Thevshi So, considering how Vector's powers might affect her... Add the following Complication to Vector's sheet: In Over My Head- Vector's powers make her nearly untouchable... nearly being the operative word. Catherine may well overestimate the level of protection she has, causing her to get into trouble.

Stronghold gulped slightly, before looking to the side. "...they're just as much victims in this as the girls are. Forced against their will. It... It's not right. None of it. It needs to end." She looked up, determined. "We just need to figure out what the ancient hill is, and we've got them. It has to be near the city..." Her mind started ticking into gear. "But... any hill's ancient, they're geological features. He must mean due to a feature of the hill in particular... argh! If I'd just read more about the city's history!"

Right! Rolling Knowledge (History) to try and figure out what the Ancient Hill might be! Luckily, Stronghold has Jack of All Trades, so... Well, that was slightly embarassing. 10 probably isn't enough, so... Oh, c'mon, Orokos! So, Stronghold has 1 Hero Point left and a Knowledge (History) result of 10. She will be hitting the books more after this adventure!

Kalani spun as her sister fell, reaching out for her... but William got her first, causing a blush from the heroine. "Um... I'm Haukea. Thanks for stopping me, William." Haukea took the offered help to get up off the ground, her cheeks still slightly red, as Kalani sighed. "Thanks for the save... William, was it? I'm Kalani. Sorry about kaikaina, she can be a bit clumsy sometimes." She ignored the half-hearted "Hey!" from Haukea, looking at William for a moment as her sister dusted some snow off her coat. "Okay, to be fair, I've slipped a couple of times too. We're not exactly used to snow. Or ice." "We've never seen snow before this winter. Well, except videos. And pictures." Haukea smiled slightly at William, still blushing slightly. "Um. Anyway, I... uh, suppose you're here to look at the exhibitions too, right?"

The twins wandered around, looking at the sculptures- mostly rating them. "Oh, this sculpture of a dolphin is beautiful!" "Yeah, but it makes me feel all odd, Kea. I mean, you don't see dolphins in weather this cold! Back in Hawaii, maybe." As they walked and chatted, Haukea slipped on a patch of ice, about to fall...

I was thinking of bumping Stronghold's age down a year precisely because of the year I took AWOL- I did always want her to start at Claremont in year 9/Somophore year.

Player Name: horngeek Character Name: Memorial Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: +/-0 Attack / +/-0 Damage, +/-0 Defense / +/-0 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Robotic Hero sent as a last memorial and warning from a murdered people. Alternate Identity: Kyla Han’denor Identity: Public Birthplace: Constructed on Belran V Occupation: ? Affiliations: ? Family: None remaining Description: Age: ? Apparent Age: 25 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Closest Earth equivalent to her features would probably be Irish. Height:5'4" Weight:150lb (large parts of her weight are offloaded into extradimensional pockets, but she's still significantly heavier than her build and height would suggest) Eyes: Red Hair: Orange Power Descriptions: For the most part, Memorial's powers are internal rather than external- the inhabitants of the Belran system grew to be masters of extradimensional technology, and her body technically contains devices that would most likely be seen on battleship of other races. On the other hand, most of these devices are damaged- and while she has self-repair systems, they’re working overtime trying to repair the damage already caused, with not much capability to fix any additional damage Memorial may take. At the moment, she is capable of both sub-light and faster-than-light flight. In addition, she is far, far stronger than her appearance suggests, as well as more capable of taking damage. Her other systems are too damaged to use right now. History: The Lor aren't the only civilisation to have been 'seeded' from Earth by the Preservers- hundreds of worlds were seeded as a whole, some still discovered by explorers from time to time. One of them was seeded on the fourth planet of the Belran system, in what is now known as the Perseus Arm. As their society developed, they forged ahead in the scientific areas realtively quickly, and by the 16th century AD, they had a multi-star system civilisation, that had made contact with its immediate neighbours for some time, and was truly starting to find its feet. In time, they might have become a major power on the galactic stage, or possibly become a part of the Lor republic. If it wasn’t for the Communion. Rarely among the Communion’s victims, the Belran actually had a suspicion that something was coming for them- they received reports that other civilisations further out had vanished, contact being lost suddenly and without warning. Eventually, a ship appeared from one of the vanished systems, the crew driven half-mad and raving about mechanical monsters from the edge of space. The Belran started to react immediately. Whatever the threat was, at the rate it was spreading, they had a couple of years to prepare. Scientists and engineered worked to try and and invent new technologies among several avenues, hoping to develop new weapons that might give them a chance, at least. One of these potential weapons was named after an ancient order of warriors who had protected scholars in ages past- in English, the closest translation would be Paladins. The Paladin project was a proposal to use highly advanced implants, combined with the extradimensional techology the Belran were known for, to create warriors of enormous amounts of power, potentially able to go toe-to-toe with a battleship. What they lacked was a volunteer- while the military would, of course, be the recipients of the technology, for the prototype they didn’t want to risk a soldier. So, Kyla Han’denor, one of the scientists on the project, volunteered to be the initial test subject. The rather extensive operations and tests started… and proceeded on schedule. Every step was accounted for and tested to perfection, the process scheduled to take one solar year of Belran IV. And so it did. The main problem was… the projections were wrong. The Communion arrived well before it was believed they would, just after the Paladin implants were fully finalised and ready to roll out. Overall… the Belran were more prepared than many. It was not enough. They fought… and steadily lost to the mechanical horrors. Kyla went out to fight, of course- she couldn’t do anything else with the fate of her people at stake. The Communion could be beaten, and for every moment they bought, the people back home could figure out new methods of fighting them. Hopefully. Of course, the Communion didn’t limit themselves to open combat- brainwashed saboteurs and other plants steadily increased the danger. Eventually, the Belran command were forced to admit that they could not beat back the Communion as they were. So, a new strategy was formed. A small group would flee, try to find a civilisation that might have a better chance… and warn them of the oncoming threat. The dangers of the Communion, and as much as they knew of them. Kyla was chosen to be one of them, and as much as she didn’t want to, she knew she was one of the best choices- the Paladin implants gave her a good chance of surviving however long it took to find someone. The escape was… not a clean getaway, though. The Communion pursued them, and although the ship got away, Kyla and the ship were both heavily damaged, the rest of the crew was killed, and now the ship- and the one survivor of a murdered civilisation- drift in the deep of space... Personality & Motivation: Memorial… doesn’t behave exactly like you might expect, from someone who’s suffered through as much tragedy as she has. She isn’t as cheerful as the young woman who volunteered to be the ‘test subject’ for the Paladin implants, but she’s determined not to fall into depression- that would be an insult to her people’s memory as much as ignoring them would be. She’s serious most of the time, with a burning need to stop the Communion, but she makes sure she still has room to feel joy at the fact that there’s still hope. Overall, she’s fairly personable, and Powers & Tactics: (In-character descriptions of how they do what they do) Complications: Name: [Description] Example: Secret: Identity. PL: 10 (150) Abilities: 32 pp STR 30 (+10) DEX 14 (+2) CON n/a INT 14 (+2) WIS 14 (+2) CHA 10 (+0) Combat: 24 pp ATK: +6 (+10 Unarmed) DEF: +10 (+3 flat-footed) Grapple: +20 Init: +2 Saves: 10 pp TOU +10 (+10 Protection) FORT +n/a REF +5 (+2 Dex, +3) WILL +9 (+2 Wis, +7) Skills: 32 r=8 pp Diplomacy 6 (+6) Knowledge: Current Events 1 (+1) Knowledge: Physical Sciences 8 (+10) Languages 1 (English) (Base: Lor) Notice 8 (+10) Sense Motive 8 (+10) Feats: 8 pp Attack Specialization: Unarmed 2, Dodge Focus 4, Fearless, Power Attack, Powers: 68 pp Flight 4 (10,000 MPH) [Dynamic] [8+1+2+2=13 pp] DAP: Space Flight 8 DAP: Super-Strength 4 (Heavy Load: 25,600lbs) Flight 1 (25 MPH) Space Travel 1 Immunity 30 (Fortitude Saves) [30 pp] Protection 10 (Extra: Impervious) [20 pp] Regeneration 2 (-3 Recovery Bonus) [2 pp] costs abilities 32 + combat 24 + saves 10 + skills 8/32 + feats 8 + powers 68 = 150 pts ----- So, adapted off AA's> Centuritron build, this is Memorial, my planned Cosmic Hero/lovesong to the Gunbuster Franchise. All told, there's not much changed from the original build- her skills and regen have both been taken down, but in exchange she can lift a lot more, can fly at 10,000 times the speed of light (while taking one other), and LASERS. I imagine that she was fairly damaged when her homeworld got blown up, and the repair sections of her body are busy trying to get her memory banks and other broken things online. Currently, the ones responsible for her homeworld getting destroyed were the> Communion, FCPbP's answer to the Reapers of Mass Effect.

Stronghold scowled. "That's... not better at all. Um, sorry. I suppose you're as angry about this as we are, Mr... what's your name? Anyway, I've got a question. What do you mean by witch-in-embryo? And do you know what Unferth considers..." She paused, as if she had to swallow a bad taste in her mouth. "Suitable for his ways. Anything that might help us catch them." And there were the other questions to consider, of course. What, exactly, Medea herself got out of this. Haukea fell silent, a frown clear across her face as she thought. "...um. How likely is Medea to double-cross other villains she works with? I... don't know that much about her, but I can't figure out what she gets out of this whole thing."

Haukea nodded, putting her book away and standing up. "Ah... that'll be great, Mali." She smiled at the other girl. "Thanks. This... helps a lot, having someone help with... well, I'm not good with stuff like this myself, anyway." As she stood, Mali might have spotted a platinum ring with an orange gemstone on Haukea's right hand, the gemstone glinting in the sunlight slightly.

Haukea and Kalani were dropped off by their mother at the festival, the twins dressed in similar garments- bundled up in fairly warm clothes, jackets and scarves included. Not that this particuarly helped either. "Brrrr... okay, I know dad has his job at all, but why did he get moved somewhere so cold? It's freezing!" Haukea grinned at her sister's comment. "Well... it should be warmer in the summer..." She seemed somewhat distracted, a fact Kalani noticed. "Hey, kaikaina. Worried about school?" "...yeah. Never been away from the family before." Haukea looked at her sister. "And, well..." "Yeah. There's that, too. Hey, you wouldn't have been picked if you weren't up for it!"

Haukea's head whipped around when the giant was summoned... then her expression quickly grew... stony... as it started to talk. After a few moments, she started to mutter in Hawaiian, with the exact word unintelligible to the rest of the heroes, but Medea's name- and Unferth's- were both audible, as her ranting grew louder in volume. Eventually, however, the ranting grew to a close, and Haukea looked up. "Especially not for what... those people... summoned you for. No one should be forced into that." After giving a nods of thanks to Fast-Forward, Stronghold settled down to listen to the dealings, readying herself in case the giant turned hostile. At the moment, he seemed to have been an unwilling participant in what Medea and Unferth were doing, but it was always good to be sure.

Haukea smiled slightly. "Well, it's more that... I've never been that good at making new friends, and, well, I've never actually been away from my family before." She paused for a moment. "And I'm fairly new? Came in near the very end of last term, and the shuffling's left me with a room to myself, which... well, not used to that either. And- why would they think you're a freak? That's... just really stupid to me." She blushed for a moment. "Ah, sorry, that might've been a bit... anyway, no, you're not being rude. Some help would be great, thanks. Like I said, I'm... not that good at making friends myself, and some help would be... it's be nice."

Haukea heard Mali's voice and started to close her book, shaking her head. "Ah, no, it's okay. I was just reading a novel, anyway, nothing that important-" Then she looked up, and noticed Mali. Haukea found herself a little… well, not envious, but something like that. The other girl had clearly found the time to exercise. A lot. She was really, really fit. After a moment, she coughed. "Anyway, I'm Haukea. Pleased to meet you. Um, what's your name?"

Rita Kord Dorms- 4PM, Friday the 17th of January Haukea sat in the common room, taking some quiet time after classes to read a book. The last week of classes had been… fairly relaxed settling in, but wasn't the real problem. Well, maybe not a problem so much as… The whole room shuffle had left Haukea with a room to herself, at least until some more students came in. She didn't remember the last time she'd had a room to herself. Okay, apart from the whole broken arm incident. But she was still feeling a bit lonely.
