In any case, attacking the closest enemy with Vector. I assume one of the minions, but either way... 1d20+8=11 Man, I am not rolling well right now.

Vector, incidentally, currently has that lovely Dynamic Array set so she's evenly split between her Vector Shield and Enhanced Defence, so her Toughness and Defense are both currently at 10.

Vector growled under her breath as she felt the rocking of the train, still glaring at the figures as she came to a halt under the Silver Magus and looked up at him for a moment. "They're going to murder an innocent man for trying to help people. Well, they're going to try. They're not going to succeed. But no, they don't get to back out of this." And then she whispered under her breath, audible only to her. "They don't get to hurt dad." The heroine started sprinting forwards, quickly accelerating towards the figures as each footstep carried her further and faster than it should have- almost as if the force of the feet hitting the dirt was amplified in some way.

Michael simply tilted his head at the telepathic demand. "What." Catherine growled under her breath, standing up and heading over to her backpack. "I brought my costume. I'll go and see what these people want. Dad, mum, stay here, okay?" She picked up the backpack, heading quickly out the door and to the closest restroom- taking a look at people's reactions along the way, before she slipped into the bathroom... and emerged a minute later, wearing her blue costume. Vector looked around for a moment, before heading to the window, and looking out at the trio. They don't look too dangerous... but one of them's defenitely a telepath. I don't know exactly what they want my dad for... She glared at the robed figures. "But they are not getting him." Vector started walking towards the closest train door.

Player Name: horngeek Character Name: Pinnacle Power Level: 10 Trade-Offs: +2 ATT/-2 DMG, +2 DEF/-2 TOU In Brief: Pinnacle of human ability... who uses his talents for crime. Alternate Identity: Nathan O'Cahan Identity: Secret Birthplace: Adelaide, Australia Occupation: Supervillain Affiliations: Pinnacle is head of his own small gang, consisting of non-powered induviduals. However, he has no problems with working with others. Family: None Known Description: Age: 50 (DOB: 21st January 1963) Apparent Age: Early 30s Gender: Male Ethnicity: Irish-Australian Height: 2m Weight: 80kg Eyes: Blue Hair: Red Pinnacle is a tall, heavily-built man, who generally wears a mask covering his face, with only eyeholes through which his piercing blue eyes gaze, a black bodysuit, and a metal gauntlet on his right arm with a holographic keyboard built-in. Beneath the costume, he has red hair, freckles and fair skin, Power Descriptions: For the most part, Pinnacle's powers don't have a distinctive 'look' to them. The man's simply near the very peak of human achievement- he's as smart as a man can be without outright superpowers, certainly, and he's close to that level in all other aspects. A fair amount of skill at martial arts (not supernatural martial arts, although he's been idly toying with the idea), and most notably, he's skilled at coming up with new inventions or appropriating those of others. That said, he suspects he is superhuman- he's barely aged for the past twenty years, after all. That said, the true nature of his abilities is a mystery even to him. History: (Please remember we are a relatively family friendly site. Your story should be PG-13 at most. If your character wouldn't fit in an episode of Justice League Unlimited, The Dresden Files, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, please rethink it.) Personality & Motivation: Pinnacle's an egocentric who, for the most part, can back up his boasting. He's arrogant, but in a quiet way instead of boasting- he's of the opinion that as one of the smartest men in the world, he should have more power than he does, but he conceals that under an air of civilty and calm. He's not a nice man by any means, but he works under his own code of honor- he treats any prisoners he might take with as much respect as security allows, he honors his promises. He's been in a bit of a slump in the past two decades, though- he honestly enjoyed matching wits with the superhero Arsenal and with Michael Fields, and now the former's retired (at least, he assumes so, since she doesn't have a memorial), he doesn't have much of a challenge anymore. Powers & Tactics: (In-character descriptions of how they do what they do) Abilities: 8 + 8 + 8 + 14 + 6 + 4 = 48 PP Strength 18 (+4) Dexterity 18 (+4) Constitution 18 (+4) Intelligence 24 (+7) Wisdom 16 (+3) Charisma 14 (+2) Combat: 12 + 16 = 28 PP Attack: +6 (+12 Strike, +12 Eyes and Ears) Defense: +12 (+8 Base, +4 Dodge Focus), +4 Flat-Footed Initiative: +4 Grapple: +10 Knockback: -4 Saving Throws: 4 + 4 + 5 = 13 PP Toughness: +8 (+4 CON, +4 Protection) Fortitude: +8 (+4 CON, +4) Reflex: +8 (+4 DEX, +4) Will: +8 (+3 WIS, +5) Skills: 80r = 20 PP Acrobatics 11 (+15) Computers 8 (+15) Craft (electronic) 8 (+15) Diplomacy 7 (+9) Gather Information 6 (+8) Investigate 6 (+13) Knowledge (physical sciences) 8 (+15) Knowledge (technology) 8 (+15) Language (English [base], French, Latin, Irish, Mandarin) Notice 7 (+10) Sense Motive 7 (+10) Feats: 24 PP All-Out Attack Beginner’s Luck Dodge Focus 4 Equipment 3 Luck 2 Improvised Tools Inventor Jack-of-All-Trades Minion 5 Power Attack Uncanny Dodge (visual) Wealth 2 Well-Informed Powers: 12 + 15 = 27 PP Morphic Costume, 15 PP Device (Hard to Lose) [12 PP] Strike 4 (Power Feat: Accurate 3, Mighty, Improved Critical 1, Penetrating 3) [11 PP] Protection 4 [4 PP] Power Gauntlet, 20 PP Device (Easy to Lose, Feats: Accurate 3) [15 PP] Damage 8 (Extras: Area Shapeable, Feats: Alternate Power 5) [21 PP] Alternate Power: ESP (visual and audio) 5 (5 miles) [15 PP] Alternate Power: Trip 8 (Extras: Area Shapeable) [16 PP] Alternate Power: Illusion (visual) 8 [16 PP] Alternate Power: Datalink 5 (5 miles; Feats: Machine Control) [6 PP] + Concealment (all senses) 10 (Flaws: Limited to Technology) [10 PP] Alternate Power: Nullify All Tech Powers 8 [16PP] Immunity 1 (Aging) [1PP] Abilities (48) + Combat (28) + Saving Throws (13) + Skills (20) + Feats (24) + Powers (29) - Disadvantages (0) = 162 PP Notes for GM: Pinnacle may well change any of the powers built-into his Power Gauntlet between adventures- the above is a fairly good guideline for his 'general' setup, with the most common change being that he can and will change the Nullify to suit foes he knows he will be going up against. In addition, he will make frequent use of his Inventor feat if he has time to prepare for a fight. Backstory is to come, I just don't want to rist losing what (little) I have right now. Core Human Pinnacle build is by trollthumper.

Vector didn't seem too put-off by Tiamat's disappearance, simply going to get some food before looking around and heading over to Comrade Frost, smiling. "Hello, there. I love the entrance you made. Oh, I'm Vector, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr..."

Oh, and another note- Stronghold is a student at Claremont, should have mentioned.

"Hmmm. The acceleration's an issue. There might just have to be safety briefings of the type you get on airplanes..." Opal smiled as she nudged Michael. "After the trip's over, dear." The businessman blinked, then chuckled at the pair kissed. "All right. Anyway, Cath. You all ready for heading back to Freedom?" Their daughter smiled, nodding. "Just need to do a double-check, and my costumes are all fine. It'll be wierd adjusting to the temperatures, but I can manage. At least it shouldn't be like last month..." Catherine's head met the nearest wall with a quiet thud, as Opal winced in sympathy. "At least the person behind that particular month is behind bars, and you get a nice quiet train trip to relax."

ADDED IN by Thevshi Vector Yeah, sorry about this so soon after a previous edit. As per discussion in IRC, I'd like to add a complication to Vector's sheet. Not Actually Telekinesis: While Vector's powers are a fair stand-in for touch telekinesis in most circumstance, they aren't actually telekinesis- while she is capable of amplifying fairly small 'force vectors' and is fairly adept at doing so, she does actually require something to be moving relative to her within her (rather short) range of vector manipulation. As such, if she is immobilised, her powers are effectively neutralised.

Near the front of the train, a family of three talked, discussing the events of the day... and things to come. Of course, the fact that one of the three was the man behind the current form of the project might have been why they were in a private room. Michael smiled at his daughter. "Well, everything seems to be going well for the inaugural train trip... here's to the fastest train in Australia." Catherine grinned back. "By well more than a hundred kilometres per hour. Seriously, dad, this is amazing." The head of Fields Industries chuckled. "I was more looking for a challenge than anything else. Should cut down on the travel times a bit... and make travel cheaper. Right now, if you want to get between cities at a reasonable pace-" The door opened, Opal Field's cane tapping against the floor as she walked in with the half-limp that she'd had for as long as Catherine could remember. "You need to travel by plane, since cars and trains take too long. Dear, I'm fairly sure you've wanted to do something like this ever since you and Edward started up the company." She smiled gently, before sitting down with her husband's help and looking at Catherine. "Right now, though... you're heading back to Freedom City in two days. Let's just spend the trip together as a family, hmm?" "Okay, mum."

Following. I'd assume the entire Fields family is on the inaugural train trip- would it be okay if I did a partial control of Vector/Catherine's parents for the first post?

Vector looked around after the others had found others to greet... before seeing a somewhat-familiar face. She grinned, walking over to Gaian Knight and Tiamat, waving. "Hi, Gaian Knight, Tiamat! Fancy seeing you two here." She grinned at the pair for a moment. "Don't think I've seen you since the cheese festival last year. That was..." Vector paused, remembering the whole... incident. "Well, interesting at least. How've you both been?"

Actually, thinking about it, there's something that should be gone-over- my concept is that the Blacksmith, when not 'sentient, is able to forge much stronger items than her current existence as Ginerva. Now, the question is how to represent that mechanically- any thoughts? My first thoughts on the matter (and this is what I'd go for in a 'single-GM' game) would be that her 'full' forging skills come out to, effectively, a plot device more than anything else, since only villains would ever have access to it.

Stronghold nodded, completely missing the look in Cobalt Templar's eyes as she thought over what had been described. "Maybe someone should look up the tales of Beowulf, see whether they're any clues in there? And any stories about Medea, what she's tried before... there's not much else I can think of to try right now, unless we can figure out where Tanya's been from what information we have now... and it doesn't... sound like we can tell that right now?" As Cobalt spoke to Tanya, she nodded, her expression determined. "And we can stop them from hurting anyone else." That's what she'd gotten her powers to do, after all.

Vector's trying for a Surprise attack- I'm assuming she's close enough to make a running jump at least, with her Leaping. Here's the Attack Roll... Here's the Damage Roll And Initiative

Vector frowned as she watched the men loading the cargo, perched on top of a nearby cargo crate. She wasn't all that good at stealth, but the night helped her to avoid notice, and her relatively small size didn't hurt either. And, well... the men weren't paying much attention to up high. Not very good of them. Well, competent. From the way they were being all cloak-and-dagger, not 'good' was kind of assumed. Smuggling of some sort, it looked like. And from the way they looked like they were treating the cargo... well. That said weapons of some sort, and dangerous ones at that. Vector's frown deepened, as she studied the side of the van, trying to make sure the logo was committed to memeory. Then she stood, backed up, ran to the edge of the container she had been crouching on... and jumped, the arc of her flight carrying her from the top of the container... to right in the middle of the men, her fall creating a mini-crater in the ground as she landed on her knee... then stood, striking at the closest man in a quick jab which was, admittedly, reinforced by her vector-control abilities to carry much more force than it otherwise would. The small woman was outnumbered heavily... She almost felt sorry for the guys, as the first two fell to her quick strikes.

Following. I'll assume in my opening post that this is a thing already known about by Vector?
-
...it really is, isn't it. Just the more fun!

Vector smiled as she picked up a glass. "Well, there are a couple of ways you could have eyes like that, so I didn't want to assume. Well, I think there are a couple of ways you could have eyes like that, I'm not certain..." She smiled at Revenant's- Lucy's question. "Well, I haven't been in Freedom long- or been in the superhero... business, I suppose- long either. About a year or so as a superhero, and I've just moved back to Freedom from Australia after spending some time back home. I'm normally down in Sydney, after all... and it's generally not snowing at Christmas this time of year back home! Actually, it's normally really, really hot this time of year..." And then Gabriel walked up to the pair, and Vector turned to face the Irish hero. "No, we haven't. It's a pleasure to meet you, Gabriel- I'm Vector."

That works fairly well. And yes the Omegadrone-led Mafia will be cool.

Player Name: horngeek Character Name: Blacksmith Power Level: 7 (105/105PP) Trade-Offs: +/-0 Attack / +/-0 Damage, +/-0 Defense / +/-0 Toughness (or "None") Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Golem built as a tireless artificer, sealed away for years, then uncovered and gained personality somewhere along the line. Alternate Identity: Ginerva Identity: Public Birthplace: ? (She doesn't remember where she was built, but she gained sentience shortly before being sealed away) Occupation: Artificer Affiliations: (People and/or groups you work with) Family: Description: Age: ??? Apparent Age: 20 Gender: Female Ethnicity: N/A Height: 6'0" Weight: 200 lb (looks like she should be 110lb) Eyes: The entire area where the iris and pupil would be is dark red. Hair: A dark steel color. Blacksmith (or Ginerva, as she's started calling herself) appears to be a tall and muscular woman, with strong features that appear to be quite classical- and unblemished, for that matter. What shatters this illusion is the fact that her entire body is made out of a metallic substance that looks like steel (and feels like it to a degree). Her hair is made out of darker metallic strands as well, and her eyes appear a dark red (which, as she becomes angry, almost seems to be burning red). She generally wears casual clothes nowadays- a tank top and some jeans have become her most common outfit, and she generally carries a spatha (a type of roman sword) which she made herself. Power Descriptions: N/A- Blacksmith's powers are all in her body and in the artifacts she makes. History: Long ago, a wizard made a golem. He desired a tool that would work tirelessly on his forges, assisting him when he wished to make artifacts of great renown, and to work on tasks he set when he wished to attend to other matters. Most evidence points to her creator being Sumerian- that language comes most naturally to her- but she's not sure. If he was indeed from that long-gone empire, the golem is almost as old as civilisation itself. Certainly, no record, grimoire or tome speaks of her creation. They do speak of her works as she passed from master to master- a golem, possessing no personality or innate spell-casting of her own, but able to craft works that any mortal was incapable of. In particular, able to craft raw magic without distilling it through cultural traditions or perceptions. As such, the golem was sought among the magical community. Some wise ones, who wished to keep it away from the many wicked who sought to turn it to their own ends. The Blacksmith was an object to be fought over for its works... until one day, 'it' woke up. Ginerva doesn't know why, she just remembers coming to consciousness in the ruins of a village, with a druidess standing over her. "Ah, good, it worked. Come along, please." The next few years were... confusing. The druidess, Feidlimid, told the newly awakened golem that she had awakened her so she could make her own choices. But... others would seek to strip that away from her once more, and the golem would not be accepted in any case. Not at the present moment, at least. Feidlimid told The Blacksmith that she could seal her away, for two and a half thousand years, to a time where Feidlimid hoped that men might have grown wiser and more accepting. The Blacksmith accepted. The last thing she remembers is Feidlimid's face. And... the spell worked. She woke up only a few month ago. Since then, she's tried to make a place for herself- and in this, she's been disappointed and satisfied at the same time. Wiser... there are more spellcasters who seek to use their powers wisely, now. Adam Eldrich found The Blacksmith- who took the name Ginerva- and helped her to find a home in Riverside, near his own sanctuary- and set her up with some equipment, as well. He's had a few chats with Ginerva, trying to help her find a path for her life. At the moment, she respects the superheroes of Freedom City but doesn't particuarly wish to join them, but events may well change that. Personality & Motivation: Blacksmith- or Ginerva as she's started to call herself- doesn't speak except when she sees the need to. She tries to be friendly, but she's only got a few years experience interacting with people- and she's very much a fish out of water. She's not as self-conscious about her appearance as you might think, however- in her mind, there's just no need for it. Ultimately, while she now has a personality- and indeed, could now be said to have a 'soul', the nature of what she was made for very much influences her. She's most at home at the forge, working on new works of artifice. Powers & Tactics: Right now, Ginerva is a fairly standard fighter, using her sword in close combat to augment her blows. If she needs to, she can make additional artifacts for short term use quite quickly, but she hasn't been able to create anything more long-lasting just yet. Complications: Out of Water: The last time Ginerva was active and aware was a full two and a half thousand years ago. She's adapted well- to a degree, but she's still caught off-guard by some things. In particular, she has a 'mental block' with modern science, and while she understands principles behind things, she just can't... fix or build anything relying on anything that relies on electricity. She tries, but draws a blank as soon as she gets to 'turn it off and back on'. Unusual: She's made out of metal. This will draw attention. No more needs be said. Valuable: The fact remains that Ginerva is The Blacksmith, and although not many know she's active- yet- as this changes, a lot of people may try to capture and enslave her again for her... unique skills. As a result, the cave system is very secure. It would take a determined foe to reach the bottom of the cave system where Ginerva works and rests.[XEP] Powers: 30 + 7 + 2 + 3 = 42PP All Magic Immunity 30 (Fortitude Saves) [30pp] Protection 7 [7pp] Regeneration 2 (-3 Recovery Checks) [2pp] Device 1 (Spatha, Flaws: Easy to Lose [-2]) [3PP] Strike 3 (Feats: Mighty, Improved Critical) [5PP] Drawbacks: (-0) + (-0) = -0PP DC Block (see below) Totals: Abilities (24) + Combat (14) + Saving Throws (4) + Skills (4) + Feats (11) + Powers (42) - Drawbacks (0) = 105/105 Power Points

Stronghold nodded as Cobalt Templar's words... frowned at the revelations of the death... and at the revelation of the identities of the supervillains behind this, her eyes widened slightly. "Wait, Medea as in-" Then Cobalt Templar began ranting. In foreign languages, sure, but she could guess that none of it was... polite. Something that sounded like 'misery', She was fairly certain that the name of Dr. Stratos was dropped in there, and Medea was name-dropped near the end. Another time, Stronghold would have been impressed at her... mentor? Sponsor? At Cobalt Templar's wide linguistic range... But now... "Uh, sir? SIR!" Once Stronghold had Cobalt's attention, she continued. "You've encountered Medea before? Um... is there any particular way she operates? Anything that might help us here?"

Vector grinned back, nodding. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Lucy." She listened to the comment about secret identities, nodding. "After your time? They happened rather early in the superhero 'business', from what I gather. I think the secret identities really picked up... during the 1920s or so. Early 1930s? You must have seen a lot if you've been around that long..." The heroine chuckled. "And experienced a lot of changes too."
