  1. "Thanks! I've been to Freedom City, but it is my first time in Freedom Hall. I never got around to visiting even though I was in Freedom City for half a year, so I know what you mean about never finding a good time... oh, I'm Vector." Vector smiled back. "It's certainly a different holiday season than back home. We don't get snow in Sydney at all... even if it wasn't summer back home right now." She looked over at the tables. "Thanks for getting this all set up, by the way... even with all of you working on it, it must have been quite a bit of work... especially getting out invites to everyone who doesn't really have contacts with the League."
  2. Vector was one of the first to arrive, the invite having been delivered during the past month. She rubbed her arms slightly- she was not used to snow during Christmas at all- as she entered. Humming softly along with the music, she looked around Freedom hall, admiring the decorations. It had been a long year... but coming back to Freedom was always interesting, and seeing her friends at the university was good. And now, she had an opportunity... not just to relax for the evening, but to meet some of her peers among the superhero 'community'. And enjoying the warmth from the fire, as she walked towards Velocity, grinning. "Guess I arrived a bit early, huh. Velocity, right? I remember seeing you last New Year's celebrations in Sydney."
  3. One issue- Vector's powers are all mutant- the vector control isn't from any study or anything like that.
  4. Stronghold blinked as Hologram entered the room. Was it... right, it was the host of SuperCrime! Man, she'd watched that show quite a bit when she was younger. Might have influenced her quite a bit later on, actually. Seeing how a lot of the superheroes really worked... Anyway. She smiled back at Hologram, before settling down to watch silently. She really, really hoped this would work. Well, it probably would, Hologram knew what she was doing, right? The police wouldn't have asked her to help if she couldn't help, anyway. She sighed, looking at Templar. "Hate feeling like I can't do anything in a situation like this."
  5. Pop Culture Roll: 1d20+6=19
  6. At the policeman's statement, Stronghold looked at Cobalt Templar, worried. "...if you think it's best, I can... probably pull up some restraints for her, but... well... she seemed confused more than anything." She frowned. "She's the victim in this. And... it looks like she's the same person, I mean look at the photo- really look at it past the colors, and her face is the same. If this was a robot or a Grue, she'd either look like one or we wouldn't be able to tell. And all the words she's used since then, the English words- they're modern ones. Her being an infiltrator doesn't fit at all. And she needs our help. As soon as we figure out how to communicate with her... um." The young heroine bit her lip, thinking. "And find out what happened to her, stop it happening again, and help her." She looked up, her expression determined.
  7. Vector November 17th, 2100 Vector sighed, standing in the rain at King’s Cross, two policemen (okay, one policeman and one policewoman) standing next to her. While the rain rolled off her skin, costume and hair instead of getting herself soaked thanks to her powers, it was still a fairly miserable night… which didn’t stop the drunks. Way too many of them had been on the streets, lately, and after one too many supervillains had taken to messing with the beer (seriously, what was going on with that?) several members of the superhero community in Sydney had got together and worked out a schedule for helping the police keep an eye on things for a week or two. And it was Vector’s turn tonight. Tonight, when it was pouring with rain. Well, at least there wasn’t much chance of violence tonight- Just then, the sounds of a scuffle broke out, two men starting to push each other in the street, not noticing (or caring) about the wind or the rain. Vector sighed, already cursing at herself mentally for thinking that. The policeman standing undercover sighed. “You’d think they’d stay home on a night like this… well, let’s break the fight up.†The two police started walking towards the fight, opening an umbrella, with Vector walking just behind them. She wouldn’t actively get involved if everything went to plan, just… be there as a reminder. Of course, it couldn’t be that easy, as the pair of drunks started glaring at the police. Vector started getting nervous at that, but didn’t interfere yet… Something that changed the instant the knife came out. Vector moved forwards, her foot tapping against the pavement and skidding her past the two police, as the knife wielded by one of the drunks- a tall man in a leather coat- deflected off her costume, her powers almost unconsciously bleeding off the force of the blow. She glared at him. “I am not in the mood for this tonight, you can’t hurt me… if you drop the knife now I’m sure the nice policemen won’t charge you with anything too serious.†And of course he didn’t listen. “Shut up you little- OW!†The incoming swear word turning into a yell of shock more than pain as Vector’s palm casually slapped against his wrist, the built-up forced not hard enough to break anything, but enough to force him to drop the knife. As the police pulled him down to the ground, Vector turned and glared at the second man, her fist slamming into her palm and creating a mini-shockwave, disrupting the rain. “Easy way or hard way?†“...easy.†The second man, shorter but more heavily-built than the first, gulped slightly as Vector’s glare turned into a smile. “Good man.†Neither man resisted much as they were loaded into the paddy-wagon and driven off to the police station. A lot of the fight seemed to have gone out of them… and the beer of the pub they had come out of was going off for analysis, just in case this was another beer-meddling supervillain. Seriously, didn't they have better things to do with their time?
  8. KD, just so you know, Stronghold hasn't trailed off, I'm just giving Cobalt a change to stop the ramble before it really gets going.
  9. Stronghold blinked at the yelling, frowning in sympathy. As the police cruiser pulled up, the young woman smiled... before blinking in shock as the woman yelled in English. "Wait what." Her head turned towards Cobalt Templar as she followed his lead, starting to voice her train of thought. "I think there might be... something going on. I mean, she didn't understand English or any of the languages you tried, but that was just English. Unless 'Cops' is the same word in whatever she's speaking, of course, or... there isn't a word in the language she's speaking. Maybe it's a dead language, or she's speaking an old version of a language today. If that's true, then she's probably being mentally affected somehow, maybe something's taken her over- no, that can't be right, they wouldn't know slang for cops then..."
  10. Also, on this, I'd like to just be able to worry about my own character for a bit- sooner or later I'll see if I can put together a game of my own, don't worry. Those extra PP are hard to resist, after all.

  12. Stronghold Stronghold was flying next to Templar (and having rings flown around her), when she saw the woman. And heard the screaming in... She pulled to a stop, starting to descend to the ground. "Sir, do you know what she's saying? I... kinda suck at most languages." She was still a bit awkward around the older superhero- it always took her time to become comfortable around new people. Still, there were more pressing matters at the moment. The young superhero set down on the ground, looking around as her ring stopped glowing, before starting to walk towards the woman, smiling with what she hoped was a reassuring smile.
  13. I'll be doing a bit of testing for Haukea's speech color on this. Orange may well not work well with the white background, after all. Oh, and here's a Diplomacy Roll: http://orokos.com/roll/152165 With, y'know, all of Haukea's +3 bonus.
  14. Thanks for GMing, Ari.
  15. So, now I've gotten back into Freedom PBP, I'm looking to get into something involving Vector, and I've got a couple of ideas, involving high-tech weapons being smuggled into Australia. Freedom City's been identified as a source, and since Vector was already planning to return to Freedom City, the Australian Federal Police have asked her if she could help investigate. Given that AA mentioned that Omegadrome Mafiosi have been a thing in some of his past plots (and gave the okay), they could easily be Terminus-tech weapons with said Omegadrone Mafiosi being involved, but that'd be up to the GM. The thing is, I'm still a bit unsure of my GM skills (in particular, I don't trust myself not to spill all the beans too quickly in anything resembling a mystery), so if possible, I'd prefer someone else to run this. I'd also be open to other superheroes being involved, of course. So, any takers?
  16. MAGNITUDE AND DIRECTION by Thevshi Spending some of the pp Vector has banked: Picking up 6 ranks of Investigate (1.5 pp) Picking up 2 ranks of Business (.5 pp) Picking up 4 ranks of Sense Motive (1 pp) Picking up 2 ranks of Speed (2 pp) Overall, spending 5 pp, leaving her with 1. I can't actually figure out how to extract the sheet from her thread to provide an edited version since it's locked, sorry.
  17. Haukea nodded. "All right. Good luck." She moved towards the diner, watching the fight cautiously in case one of the robots decided it would be a good idea to attack her or the civilians. As she reached the diner, she pushed the door open gently. "Hello, I'm with the Freedom League. Can you all follow me calmly, please? We've got an evacuation point set up, I can take you there while Freedom Angel takes care of the robots."
  18. Vector nodded quickly. "I'll help with the people who were in the jailhouse." She stood, walking over to Fleur. "I'm ready to go whenever you are. Um... you're more experienced than I am at this sort of thing, so I'll let you take the lead." Privately, Catherine was also worried about her friend. Charlotte seemed okay when she last saw her, but still... Catherine had seen how the auroch had treated the prisoners.
  19. Player Name: horngeek Character Name: Tachyon Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Japanese COSMIC AVATAR Alternate Identity: Chiyoko Hayashi Identity: Public Birthplace: Tokyo, Japan Occupation: Superhero Affiliations: Lor Republic (allied a few times) Family: Daisuke Hayashi, leader of the Midori-gumi syndicate, is her father. Her mother was killed in an attack by Overthrow. Description: Age: 30 (DOB: 1982) Apparent Age: 20 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Japanese Height: 5'2" Weight: 110 lb Eyes: Golden irises that glow when she's using a large amount of power. Hair: Silver- again, it appears to shine when she's using a large amount of power. Chiyoko was a fairly young-looking Japanese woman, of about 23 years of age, with black hair, olive eyes, and a fair complexion. She had a fairly traditional figure, in fact, fairly lightweight and quite short. Nowadays, she looks almost the same, except her eyes are golden and her hair silver, both as a result of the accident that granted her her powers. While pretty, she isn't the most beautiful woman around, but she is very graceful, every movement she makes deliberate and considered. Power Descriptions: Tachyon's powers are all focused around cosmic energies. In practical terms, she can do a variety of things with them, and all manifest as glowing energy of silver and gold. She can project blasts of energy, form it into a sword (which she prefers to manifest as a katana), heal, corrode, and fly fast enough to travel between starts in hours or even minutes. History: Chiyoko was born to Daisuke Hayashi, then a high-ranking member of the Midori-gumi syndicate of the Yakuza. Her childhood was... mixed. Daisuke loved her and her mother, but was often absent. And then her mother was killed when she was just five years old, in a terrorist attack on Paris by Overthrow. Daisuke grew even more distant after that, throwing himself on a quest for revenge as he climbed up the ladder of the syndicate. He still tried to involve himself... a bit... but to be honest, Daisuke didn't think he was a suitable parent. Her uncle, Takeshi, spent more time with her. And Daisuke made sure she was looked after as well, employing a nanny to help raise her. The socialisation that came with starting school also helped her a great deal, and it was there that she started developing a passion for physics. A combination of hard work, study, and funds from her father eventually got her into Oxford University, where she helped with a few practical experiments. Until one went wrong, and changed her life forever. While she was helping test a particle accelerator, the accelerator suddenly vastly overshot first its safe limit, then what was supposed to be the maximum possible output. And then it exploded, with Chiyoko caught in the blast radius. When the smoke cleared, her hair and eyes had both changed color, and she was staring wide-eyed at the cosmic energy surrounding her hands. In the aftermath, an investigation on the cause of the accident drew no satisfactory conclusions- it could have been deliberate sabotage, but there simply wasn't enough evidence left. In the meantime, Chiyoko did a little experimentation with her powers, discovering most of them fairly quickly (the light-speed travel through accidentally making her way to Pluto when testing her flight). Ultimately, she decided that she needed to go on... a walkabout to find herself. Except on a much larger scale. So, a month after she gained her powers... Chiyoko left Earth. The past ten years have been interesting for Chiyoko. She's seen a large portion of the galaxy (although she's the first to admit she's not seen everything- she hasn't gone into Grue space, for one thing), she's had numerous adventures, and she's forged some ties among the Lor. Now... now she's ready to return to Earth. Personality & Motivation: Chiyoko has a very... calm personality. She doesn't see much need in showing her emotions to a large degree, preferring a gentle smile over a grin. In fact, people tend to get the impression that every action she makes is thought out- which isn't completely true, but it's not completely false either. She's kind, but determined, and in her time away, has come to believe that the best use she can make of her powers is using it to help others by joining the superhero community. On the other hand... she's still trying to find herself to a large degree- she knows she'll have divided loyalties at some point if she joins the superhero community, since her father is still in the same job he was when she left earth. Still, she tries not to show that internal conflict, instead acting with honor whenever she can. Powers & Tactics: Tachyon has a varied fighting style. She uses her powers to their full extent, switching to whichever use of her powers is most suited to the current situation, but shows a slight preference towards fighting up close and from the ground, using her energy sword to attack opponents. Complications: My Father is a Yakuza Oyabun: Chiyoko's father, Daisuke, isn't just a crime boss, he's a major one. While Chiyoko will not work for Daisuke, she also won't testify against him unless Daisuke goes so far as to kill innocents. 20. Vector narrowly dodged the cow's spittle, an expression of disgust crossing her face momentarily before she watched Fleur send the cow... elsewhere. As doors opened, she let out the breath she was unconsciously holding, a sigh of relief escaping her mouth. She smiled at the three other heroes. "...phew. Glad that seems to be over. Think we should explain what happened to the town now. And get the tourists out of... wherever you put them, Fleur."
  21. Vector grinned, the grin faltering a bit as she listened to Gaian's question. "Um... not sure! I mean, he's certainly enough of an arrogant ass for it to be a royal we, but..." The young woman shook her head, running over to the Auroch's leg and launching a vector-boosted spinning kick at the cow's leg... which again, did nothing. "Oh, for heaven's sake, how much damage can this guy take?"
  22. Vector's third punch! 1d20+8=13
  23. Haukea blinked as the hologram came into existence, looking around a bit. And mentally gave points for a hero outfit that was practical. And braced herself a little, since Cobalt was obviously playing hardball by setting the scenario in Hawai'i. An opinion that didn't change at all as Freedom Angel spoke. Haukea winced inwardly at the sound of 'artificially induced volcanic activity', especially when Freedom Angel mentioned lava flows. She exited the craft along with everyone else, and nodded as Freedom Angel spoke. "All right." She started running, taking a few steps slowly first to get used to the speed the stimulated superpowers granted her, then accelerating and trying to keep up with Freedom Angel, while trying to watch out for drones.
  24. Vector landed lightly on the ground, grinning up at the cow as Fleur's vines entangled it... a grin that faded as it ripped its way free. "Oh, you've got to be kidding... right, let's try this again." Again, the superheroine braced, and launched herself off the ground, calculating forces in her mind as she rushed up towards the udder of the giant cow (or Auroch, whatever it was called), and delivering a second massive punch to the beast's udder.
