Kyla translated Galvanic's words into English for Emily, then paused for a moment, speaking first in Lor, then translating for Emily. "I know what it is to lose a home to this foe. She'll... pull through, I think. If she keeps this up once we arrive, I'd be more worried, but right now... right now, some time to come to terms with this is the best thing we can give her. She knows we're here when we're ready to talk." She sighed. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Chlo'zel. I'm Memorial, and this is Mechanized. Or, to use our birth names, Kyla and Emily." Memorial smiled, slightly weakly. "Even if it could be under much better circumstances."

Memorial rolls a 9! Yeah, she didn't go into this with the expectation of winning.

{{We can just say Mechanized takes the lead. Memorial's more doing something to pass the time/learning how to play anyway}} "I don't mind answering the question I know you just pulled back from- I'm not a robot, but given how extensive my implants are, the difference is more a matter of starting point than anything else." Kyla hummed as Emily switched on the laptop. "No, she's not. And if it comes down to it, I can translate- the Lor and Belran tongues are remarkably similar, enough that I can catch the language. There's probably a translator if you need one, though, you should..." She glanced at the cockpit. "Well, ask Corona once we get there, anyway."

"I don't actually sleep. So, I browsed Wikipedia a lot during those few weeks. I might be a bit rubbish at it at first, mind you." Kyla grinned at the other woman, happy to forget the events going on if only for a moment. "I also don't have a chessboard." She glanced at the hull as well. Oh, right. It might be a bit scary, knowing that was all that separated you from... well, hyperspace. Going through hyperspace unprotected was not pleasant, even if she could do it fine. "Eh, the Lor've been doing it for hundreds of years, you don't have anything to worry about. Not sure about Earth having had space travel in the past- we always knew we didn't come to Belran on our own, we were seeded by another race." Kyla shrugged. "Either way's possible, of course. And I suppose I forget a bit about that part- I don't actually need a ship to make the trip myself, especially now my internal hyperdrive's been repaired."
-
"Kyla. Kyla Han'denor." Memorial sighed as she looked out the window. "And yeah. I could do with some company." She looked at the door to the cockpit, still sealed. "I know how she's feeling. Best thing to do is give her some time, I suspect." The cyborg heroine picked up her long, white scarf off the table next to her, wrapping it around her neck with care. Almost hugging it at one point. "Anything in particular you wanted to talk about? Truth be told, I'd be fine with playing some chess or something, just pass the time. Not much else we can do until we get there."

Memorial tapped her feet as she waited aboard the Nomad. Normally, she'd be flying on her own. Normally... heh. Nothing'd been normal about her life for centuries. God. It'd been so long. If everything had gone to plan, the Communion would've been known about for all those years. People would have been prepared. Instead, they'd hit with a sucker-punch just as she'd been woken up. Either the Fateweaver had a sick sense of humor, or he wasn't the only one weaving the thread of events. Small mercies presented themselves, though. It looked- looked- like the Communion was waiting. As much as that didn't make sense to Memorial... "Dammit. Nothing makes sense about this, but at least we've got the opportunity to actually get some order here. We're going to need everything we have to hit the Communion and hit them hard, or the entire galaxy's going to end up..." ...she hoped Belran hadn't been assimilated. She knew it wasn't likely, but... even if her homeworld had blown itself up, or something, it was better than being part of the Communion. Kyla sighed. She didn't know why she'd spoken out loud. She didn't think anyone was listening, after all. And she didn't need to inflict her brooding on the rest of the crew. Especially not Aya. Kyla had been isolated, somewhat, from the full impact of Belran's destruction, but it was probably still fresh for the Lor officer.

"I think this might be the first time two people from our respective planets have met, actually." Memorial paused for a long moment. "I'm pretty sure I'm pushing five to six hundred years. I've spent most of that... dormant. As for why... let's just say I've taken the name Memorial for a reason. Actually, Corona, while what we're doing now is a more immediate concern, I'd like to have a talk with you after all this." She sighed. "Let's just focus for now. If I go into it too far right now, I'll be distracted."

"Well... people here know where humans on Earth expanded on. I did some looking up, place called Africa, however they got there, and it's definitely in a sorry state compared to here. As for reasons why... external influence, natural disaster, just didn't have the resources... I can think of a whole lot of ways, and whichever way I think of it, 'of course the most advanced civilisation came first' is just making assumptions. I mean, by that logic, my people would have a fair claim to the position, and we always knew that Belran wasn't where our species began." Memorial peered down the tunnel. "I'm not saying Earth's definitely it, either, mind you. How long does this tunnel go, anyway?"

"Lucky... my ass..." Stronghold winced. Good. He was on the ground, she could hit him with some sort of bind. As she concentrated, she winced a little at the pain. It was still making stuff... a bit fuzzy. Hard to conentrate. She didn't like her chances of getting back down into the plane once this was over. And to think this all started with her just having a fun flight. At least she hadn't been laid out with an axe this time. The armor had done some good work, there. However, the pain caused the orange straitjacket she conjured to miss Wildcard, appearing in the air about two meters to the left of the criminal before she dismissed it. "Argh... sorry..."

"So, you're doing something that's likely to get people- innocent people- killed? All to keep running?" Stronghold scowled for a moment, before the Orange Ring shone, and a dome of orange energy rapidly formed over the cocoon. A dome that rapidly started looking like a vault in its construction, as the Ring-Wielder used her abilities for what they were arguably made for. "Well, if I can help it, this explosion isn't spreading anything around. I'll layer as much protection on it as I can- if I could, I'd move us all underground, but I haven't figured out that trick yet." Haukea frowned at Maelstrom's words. "I'm better suited to holding this- I'm not sure what range I can keep it up at, and when I build up stone walls, they aren't as strong. It might be a better idea for me to stay and keep building this up."

Haukea nodded. "Um. Yeah, food sounds good to me. Hope they have some good stuff, right?" As she walked, she looked around, see who else was around. Maybe meet up with some of the students from here. She honestly would like to get to know more people, even if the people she met were from brutally oppressive dictatorships. No nation'd ever been composed of purely good or purely evil people, after all, and thinking that was just as stupid as any other form of generalisation. She'd give the people here a chance. Well, if someone wanted to talk to her. She probably wasn't going to do much walking up to people. Not her style.

Mikala spoke up at Mechanized's suggestion. "The other thing to keep in mind- she's been missing for a day, so if she really teleported herself to the Waterfront, she'd have been able to get herself home by now- it's not very far. It's not an unknown thing with kids new to their powers, and the Freedom police actually considered it first. By the time the Bureau got involved, it got moved to the 'unlikely' bin, and what you've been able to tell us rules it out entirely." He frowned. "I've got Takuma's contact details. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Miyamoto, I think that's all. If I can speak with you three ladies outside?" The Miyamotos nodded, and the AEGIS Agent lead the three heroes outside. "We actually have tried contacting Takuma already- he lives in the North End, right near FCU, and he's not there. We couldn't contact him at all. Didn't want to worry them more. It looks like you've got a direction already to me, but Takuma's apartment is somewhere you could try having a look at if that turns out to be unfruitful."

"Never accept the expected as truth- I'm not discounting Earth just because your people think they're the origin point. But you're right in one thing, this isn't exactly the place..." Memorial tilted her head at the Betelgeuse comment. "...I get the feeling that you're making a reference from something with that last one. Um. I've only actually been on Earth for... a terran month or thereabouts, I'm not really familiar with the ins and outs. Um. But to answer the question, we're all actually the same species here. What your world calls Homo Sapiens. Just born on three different planets." She looked at the hole. "If you want, you can ask me some questions while we explore, as long as we all stay focused. Don't want to get jumped, after all."

Stronghold makes a roll to Snare Wildcard! Stronghold rolls a 1. At the very least, this board doesn't have fumble rules, so she didn't just conjure a straitjacket on herself! She'd be able to dismiss it, but it's the principle of the matter.

Catherine smiled as the heroes all introduced herself. "It's a pleasure to meet all of you." Turning the wheelchair she was on around, she headed towards a central lift, which opened as she approached. "Yes, Redback. I'll give you the brief as we head down." After the heroes filed in the lift, Catherine pressed a button on her wheelchair, and the lift doors closed- before the lift started heading downwards. "It's not a long trip down, but it gives me time to start this up." The Australian superheroine pressed another button on her wheelchair arm, projecting a hologram of a figure in black armor, with red detailing and four mechanical limbs. "Redback. Loooves his spider motifs. He's the leader of the Redback Gang- not exactly an original name, no, but they're... competent. Competent enough to take down the first Cloudrunner, at least, although that was a sorry chain of events all around." She sighed. "Anyway. We've gotten info that he's planning some sort of smuggling operation, and it's something big- we're not sure of the specifics, unfortunately. And we still have to deal with the aftereffects of that asshole- sorry, I mean Newman. So, we're currently understaffed and having to deal with a whole lot of crises, which is why we sent out the call for some backup." Catherine paused, waiting for any questions.

I think you mean Mechanized just heard. That being said, Memorial's showing no signs of deceit. I'm just waiting for a 'oh, surely you don't believe that?' from Corona regarding Memorial's last statement, given the Lor believe their homeworld's the origin of humanity.

HANGING TEN by Thevshi Stronghold Just realised I did a minor oopsie that slid by when updating her to PL10. Stronghold's first two Active Powers should look like this: And while I'm at it, she really should know how to swim. Spend her free Power Point on four skill ranks, all of which will go to Swim. Finally, I'm redoing her Complications:

Haukea sighed. "I can fly, I'm just... not that fast. I'm Stronghold." She looked around as they headed out the door, before noticing... "It looks like that's the car to me. If we head that way quickly, we might be able to keep it in sight." The teenager shrugged at Trailblazer's question. "To be honest, I'm surprised they haven't gotten piled on by more angry superhero teenagers. That shopping mall's popular. Anyway, uh, Queenie, if you're fast enough, it might be better if you gave me a lift for this one. That way, I can concentrate on making constructs."

Hinata paused for a moment at Terrifica's question, staring at the heroine. "Takuma? I..." She trailed off for a moment, as Daisuke held her hand, speaking softly in Japanese. Her reply in return was slightly unsteady, before she returned to English. "I... do not believe so, but... he has been under... some stress." The middle-aged woman closed her eyes, before fixing Terrifica with a steady gaze. "He is a medical student here at Freedom City. On an exchange trip from Tokyo University. He... is not an idiot, but I know he has behaved rashly at times. That he might... do so again if he found some power is entirely possible, but I find it difficult to believe he would kidnap Haruko. They've always gotten along well, that's why we let him know in the first place." Daisuke looked as his wife as she rested her face in her hands and spoke softly in Japanese again, this time seemingly to herself. He spoke up. "Whoever might be responsible... please, just get our daughter back."

As something I hadn't thought of before- Memorial may well travel to the fleet with Corona.

Memorial looked down at the edge of the hole, not breathing. She'd call it holding her breath, but she didn't exactly have to breath at all. Except to talk. Well, she siupposed that in space, her communications array would do that job, but it was annoying. Also, her communications array wasn't working right now. The question needed answering, though. "No, actually. I did some looking up, there's wide areas where they've still got some pretty nasty poverty and the like. Sucks for what's possibly the seedworld of our species. But I think everyone's got indoor plumbing in this city, or close enough that this won't be pleasant. Who wants to go first?

Haruko smiled, answering Casey's questions and asking some of her own- although once she realised that Casey wasn't comfortable talking about her own family, she quickly switched away from that and talked about safer topics. The two girls talked, quick friends- a good thing to have in a roommate. It was fortunate for the both of them, given what might come.

Pain. Stronghold let out a noise somewhere between surprise and a whimper as she hit the wall, a crack from her chest at the sonic blast giving her... any number of not-good indicators. On the other hand, now she knew what it was like to crack and/or break a rib! Not pleasant. Okay. Something rib, that needed looking at later. Not now. There was still still Wildcard. Biiiig, attention-grabbing Wildcard- oh. That wasn't good. That's not good at all, because Wildcard was enough of a threat by himself. Haukea shook off most of the pain. If she was right, they needed to deal with Wildcard quickly, because he was still a threat enough to need dealing with. The Orange Ring shone as she formed and launched an orange punch of energy- and just before it hit, a shift and a flare of pain caused it to destabalise enough for Wildcard to dodge. "Don't... worry... about... me."

Memorial grinned. "Yeah, I can help with that." The young woman started prising the jaws apart, enough for Corona to extract herself. "Well, it could be something from off-planet. We... ah, doesn't matter. Or a research project that went a bit off- if you're trying something new, best to have a lookout in case you accidentally create a candidate for the Hall." The odd reference went unexplained by Memorial. "Or someone's made this thing deliberately. But in that case, it wouldn't be in a joycrafter's- sorry, a production studio, would it. It'd be in a public place." Kyla frowned. "We should probably do some research on this place, see who's in charge."
