Can I assume that Brandish is not still in the dimensional pocket of Grimalkin?
-
Sam let the flames on his sword go out as he put it's point on the ground, "Burnt?" he asked with a bit of concern, "and well um... I was going to get my costume and head straight to the sparring room, I want to be able to attack some things I don't have to hold back on. Really go all out with my sword you know?" He motioned his head towards the building where said room was. Sam thought about options for what to do, "Besides I have class pretty early tomorrow," letting out a yawn as he remembered that fact. He snapped his fingers, "How about I show you guys my costume? I haven't been able to get much feedback on it other than 'punk kid who thinks he's cool or something' and 'ow my face that burns!'" he said with straight a face as possible, though he couldn't help letting out a snort of laughter at the last bit of it.

Brandish twinged his shoulders as he heard himself be called by the wrong name, "It's Brandish, but whatever." he examined the inside of the portal as he put his sword into it's sheath on his back, "I'm guessing you'll pull me out when there's a fight? It looks like everyone else has everything I can do other than that covered..." he couldn't help but sigh as he looked around at everyone, "...very well." He cautiously put a hand through the portal before stepping inside and turning around. "Just don't forget I'm in here alright?" he said as a small grin appeared on his face, "My phone only has about three hours of battery if I'm playing games on it."
-
Brandish just silently follows along, trying to think of an eloquent, not-awkward way to tell the others about his powers. Already he was beat in the speed department, just about one-hundred being the fastest he's ever clocked himself going. He was pretty mobile, but that wouldn't really beat out flying either. He jumped down and followed the others to the footprints as he sighed, reminding himself again that he was overthinking this. Besides the moment for answering that question had passed anyways... Wait, did he say that the robbers had probably jumped around a mile and a quarter? So that's him beat in the jumping department too right now. Really all it boils down to is that he can swing a flaming greatsword around with a fair degree of skill, though it looks like the others have him beat in the skill department as well... So far this seems to be a very great first real night out? He starts listening to the conversation again just in time to respond to Grim's question, "I guess that leaves me flying Air Grimalkin...?" he then snapped his fingers as he thought of something, "Though. Shouldn't the people who can fly be going after the fliers? I mean, I can jump a small building and have scaled up the side of a skyscraper, but I really don't have anything much in the way of ranged attacks here."

Sorry. Um... Starcraft 2 got me? Posting now

Sam speaks as he looks around, "I guess it won't hurt if I show it off here,it's not like anyone's going to rat us out." ...or like anyone could even try to rat anyone or this place out, he's never heard of it before he came here anyways so there's probably some highly effective way this place and it's students are kept secret after all, though it's not like he's going to try and find out what that thing is; it is keeping him and everyone safe after all. Having reassured himself of the relative secrecy of what he's about to show off, he grab the sheath of his sword with his left hand and draws it out with his right. The blade is a simple elongated blade made of a dark grey metal with a groove running down it's middle. He grins and flourishes the blade as it bursts into brilliant unnatural red flames, "Pretty cool right?" he asks, looking for Raina's reaction (and ignoring Cathy at the moment).
-
Brandish meanwhile had been standing back and thinking. He decided that he probably wasn't in danger here and so let the flames on his sword go out, though still keeping it lowered at his side in case of sudden trouble. As the others were talking about where Bastion's equipment had gone, he remembered that while he was looking around he had seen something that might prove useful. He ahemed and raised a finger, "While I was standing up here I noticed that there was some deep footprints, probably from a super-powered jump of some kind as they made their exit. Maybe you could do could some science stuff with your suit and track the trajectory of that jump?" He then points over to the general area of the footprints with his left hand.
-
When another hero arrives on the scene, Brandish takes a step back and starts alternating between facing Kingsnake and Grimalkin, his breathing intensifies as he starts stressing out about the thought of having to fight three, no four people at once! He's not ready for this kind of thing! He starts thinking about just running away, losing their trail and going home for a few moments before Grim starting speaking to him. He replies with an unsteady "U-Uh...." as he takes in the sight of Heroine (who's dressed much more like a hero than Kingsnake). He takes a deep breath, lowering his sword-though still keeping it wrapped in flame-, "The name's Brandish, and I got this sword from..." he shakes his head, "Actually that's none of your business, but it's very special okay?" He extends his left hand (since the right's holding the sword) and gives her hand a solid shake before pulling it back, he points at Kingsnake and starts to say something before hearing the thunk of the power suit hitting the roof, "So uh do you know-" His head snaps to the power suit for, then he starts looking to the other two heroes, waiting for one of them to give a response.
-
Sam takes a breath and looks between the girls, deciding to answer the more perky girl's question first, "I'm from right here in Freedom City, born and raised. My parents came here because of the heroes, my dad because it seemed safe with all the heroes around and my mom well, she's just a really big hero geek," he said with a smile as he looked between the girls. He then suddenly pointed towards the boy's dorm, "Oh yeah, my dorm's over there. I started here just a week ago actually. Just bringing my sword here so I can use it in training rather than the greatsword they have on hand, this one's a bit longer and a good bit thinner than that one," he said, lifting his sword up for a moment. He then smiled a wide, nervous grin, "Maybe head out on the streets a bit tonight, yeah?"
-
It gives off a large amount of heat and doesn't particularly have a strong smell, though there is a faint smell of brimstone.
-
Brandish pulls his greatsword off of his back, holding it in one hand with his other raised to tentatively block, as he growls back at Kingsnake, "You could say the same for yourself, sneaking around in an outfit like that." He flourishes his sword as it lights up in vibrant red flames, "I heard about the break-in on the news and just got here in time to see you sneaking in, I was about to go in after you, but then you ended up coming to me instead." He glances over his shoulder at the incoming light, he was pretty sure that neither of them wanted to be fighting eachother when that third possible combatant got here, so he decided to try and stall for time. Chances were that he would probably be more likely to win in a 3-man free for all, so he continued with the banter, "Going to hand over anything you managed to pick out anything good from in there? Or do I have to take it from you by force?"

Brandish rolls a 19 on his Notice check and bombs the Will Save with a roll of 12 He is now quite spooked
-
Brandish in now on the scene, surveying the outside since he's not sure the cops and such would appreciate his presence. He takes 20 on his Notice check as he looks over the scene for a total of 28 (pretty sure I can use Notice here).
-
As soon as Brandish had heard about the break-in on the news he had thrown on his costume and ran out the door straight to Lonely Point. Up until now he had only dealt with the occasional thief, drug dealer, and had brought an end to a small gang fight. He was hoping that this could, well, be his "big break", or at least a chance to actually deal with some real villains instead of the common crook. After all, how would he be able to gauge his level as a hero if he never tested himself against a real threat? He found himself grinning as he thought of the upcoming epic fight that he was going to have with these villains doing the break in, he was going to leap in for a surprise attack with his sword and then proceed to mop the floor with them! Well, maybe, in reality he was probably going to end up buying time for more heroes to arrive, but if that did happen that would super awesome! Needless to say, Brandish was quite disappointed when he finally arrived on the scene a good ten minutes later. Police cars were pulled up around the building and a perimeter already set up. He let out a groan, of course the villains would be gone already, fights don't usually last very long anyways... and thinking back he's sure the news announcement was that a break-in had occurred, not that one was in progress. Pretty sure that the police would refuse help from a kid hero like himself, Brandish leaped up to the top of the nearest roof to get a better look at the scene, sticking to the shadows since he wasn't quite sure what would happen if he was spotted.

Sam gave Raina's hand a good couple shakes, nodding his head along, before pulling his hand back. Her 'below the surface' comment made his heart almost skip a beat (since there's also the whole don't let Hell find out where dad's hiding thing going on), but he caught the gut reaction fairly quickly and did his best to turn it into a joke to help himself get a little less tense, letting out a halfhearted chuckle. "I guess that's technically true, though is it really that obvious? I didn't think anyone would catch on to it before I had been slinging hellfire around for a while."
-
Seeing a random blindfolded girl walk headfirst into a tree and then yell at him with a mix of confusion and anger was just about as far as you could get from how Samuel expected this to go. He stammered out the first thing that came to mind, "I'm-m Sam, are you okay?" Though before she could respond another girl with strange hair and eye colors slid down on an ice slide that appeared out of nowhere-no wait that must be the new girl's power he reasoned. He's done nothing wrong here, he just needed to play it cool and it should work out just fine. He took a breath before responding to get his composure together, "Yeah, I just transferred here about a week ago. The name's Samuel Ryland, you can call me Sam though." he held out his left hand for a polite handshake as he gave a small, if a bit forced, smile.
-
It was the early evening when Samuel stepped out of his mom's car and walked through the gates of Claremont Academy. He wore a simple printed tee with the school's symbol on it, some jeans, and a black hoodie for protection against the cold; but what was really interesting was that he was carrying a sheathed greatsword that was just about as tall as he was and carrying it in one hand on the middle of it too, a sure sign of his super-strength. He also had a backpack on that was stuffed quite full. it was after school-and cold outside-so the courtyard was mostly empty at the moment. He wasn't quite sure how that suited him, since he did want people to ask about his greatsword, but there was also that feeling that maybe he should be being a little more discreet than he was already being about bringing a huge sword that people could probably easily identify his soon-to-be hero identity by... though here at Claremont that really shouldn't be a problem since some of the other students were supposedly heroes themselves and he had also thought maybe if he carried his sword in the open he would attract their notice. He still wasn't sure how to go about getting in contact with other heroes here, but he was quite sure that one didn't just go around asking random people if they were a hero or not. Like his dad, most of them did just want to live a quiet, average life and not worry about their powers ruining it... Samuel sighed, pretty sure that he was overthinking this whole sword thing, so he decided that he was just going to wing this situation and see where it went. He stretched his arms (and greatsword) above his head, put a cocky half-grin on his face, and started taking a roundabout route to his dorm. All the while doing his best to make it look like the sword in his hand weighed absolutely nothing, running the end of the sheath around things he passed by and giving it a good swing every now and then.
-
Speaking of Claremont threads, I just got Brandish approved and I would like him to get one with the other Claremonters as well.
-
I would like to get Brandish in on this, he could either get in by finding a fight going on or finding about the break in by reading about it/hearing it happen and coming to check it out. Investigative wise, I'm not sure how much he'd help on his own.

Player Name: ChrisClark13 Character Name: Brandish Power Level: 10 (150/151PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 1 In Brief: Hotblooded Half-Demon Swordweilder Residence: Ashton, Small House Base of Operations: Claremont Dorm Catchphrase: "Bring it on!" Alternate Identity: Samuel "Sam" Ryland Identity: Secret Birthplace: Freedom City Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Family: Marcus Ryland aka Markan (Father), Cassandra Ryland (Mother) Description: Age: 16 (1999) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5' 10" Weight: 180 Eyes: Blue Hair: Auburn Samuel has just about an athletic body as a teenager can get, being covered in lean muscles. He wears his auburn hair in a short-medium length mess, though he has been known to actually style it on occasion. For casual wear he just rocks some sort of printed t-shirt, jeans, and a grey jacket. In his identity as Brandish, he wears a maroon domino mask and a maroon trenchcoat. Under that he wears black boots, black jeans, black gloves, and a dark grey shirt. He sheaths his over-sized sword in a tan leather scabbard on his back. The Demon Blade is a rather simple large greatsword that was forged by Marcus Ryland while he was still in Hell. It's blade is made of dark-grey metal and there is a deeper-than-normal groove in the middle of it meant to aid in the channeling of Hellfire. The handle and pommel are rather simple. The only decoration being a red, almost black, gem set in the handle that lights up when it is in use. When in use, the blade is shrouded in the user's Hellfire and gains a supernatural cutting ability. In the hands of someone that can't use Hellfire (or when it's powers are nullified) the blade is dull and it's not much better than swinging a large, but nearly indestructible, metal pipe around. Power Descriptions: Brandish's Hellfire is made of intense red flames and his Hellfire Fists power shroud his fists in Hellfire. His movement powers don't have much visual effects except for bits of Hellfire here and there when he really gets moving. History: Samuel Ryland has always been an energetic and hot-blooded kid who excelled in all things athletic and sports related (thanks in part to his undiscovered latent abilities). His can-do attitude along with his skill and physical abilities bought him friends during his school years. He was never short of admirers in the form of his classmates and even some of his teachers throughout the years. Samuel also was regularly brought along to the medieval fair by parents which they heavily participated in. This led to him picking up sword-fighting as early as his parents would allow, excelling in that too (though his mother, not his father, was the one to teach him in the way of the sword). He would not discover his latent abilities until his second year of highschool though. It was just another friendly basketball competition between two highschools, and it had come down to the wire. Of course that meant that everything relied on Samuel, who was highly regarded as their school's best athlete. With the bleachers calling his name was more determined than ever to win. His blood pumping he felt stronger and faster than ever before, he leapt clear from the half court line above the heads of the other players and dunked the ball into the hoop with a mighty roar. To his surprise the court fell completely silent as everyone just stared at him as his parents came down from the bleachers to rush him off of the court. He would find out later that he had in fact set the basketball net and the backboard on fire. Samuel spent the next few days hiding in his house, watching the social media and news stories about what had happened explode. Repeatedly he was called a cheater (some saying that he had been cheating with his superhuman strength his entire life based on his athletic record), though some rose up to defend himself at first, it was agreed by all that he would never get to compete in "normal human sports" ever again. Then his father gathered their family together and told them all a secret he'd been hiding his entire life, he was actually a run away demon from hell. At first he didn't quite believe it since his father was one of the nicest people he knew of, but after a demonstration of his infernal powers there was no doubt about it. Samuel never did end up going back to his old highschool, though not just because Claremont soon got in contact with his parents, but because he didn't want to deal with any of the social stigma of having everything he worked for turned on it's head since he had been superhuman he had been one his entire life and had just never been told. That brought on a guilt that felt like he should just throw all his trophies in the trash, questioning if he had really earned any of them. Now a new student at Claremont, he seeks to become the best hero he can be, already diving feet first hero work with his father's sword in hand as Brandish. The story of his father, Marcus Ryland aka Markan: Personality & Motivation: Samuel is a hothead, doing whatever seems hardest just because he can, so of course seeks to become a famous hero someday. He's sure it'll be the hardest thing he's ever done in his life, but there's no way he's backing down from that challenge. Powers & Tactics: While he is capable of using more advanced tactics (if someone makes him), he sticks to the plan of waiting for the right moment to strike and then wreaking havoc upon his foes with sword and hellfire. While dueling he'll seek to get some hits in before hammering down with attacks of increasing strength. Complications: HOTBLOODED (Temper): Samuel does not back down from a challenge if it's presented to him, and especially not if it's some sort of competition. He also does not take insults to himself, his family, or his friends lightly and will immediately start a yelling at whoever insulted them. Being accused of cheating will make him start swinging his fists around as well. Warranty Void on Holy Ground (Power Loss): Brandish's Demon Blade ceases to work when it is on Holy ground and/or when it gets affected/hit by a Holy power rank 10 or higher. The latter disables the sword for an hour, or more if the effect was particularly powerful. No That's Not Me, Leave Me Alone! (Identity): Due to the way his powers were discovered, Samuel has been publicly outed as a superhuman. Soon after his story briefly became famous enough to get it's own article in the newspaper and a ten minute spot on the news before becoming just another footnote in metahuman debates. The media circus has died down, though his status as a metahuman is basically an open secret at this point and people may still come around from time to time to bother him about it, or even a villain or evil group could try to come after him for his powers. Though worst of all would be if someone managed to successfully connect him to his hero identity as Brandish. No One holds a Grudge like a Demon in Hell (Enemy): Sam's father, Marcus, pissed off a lot of demons with his political (and sometimes literal) backstabbing as he made his way out of hell. With Brandish being active as a hero, there's a chance those demons could find where Marcus has been hiding all these years. If that happens there's no doubt that they'll try to get him, his family, and any of his friends killed; at minimum. At most they'll get their souls dragged down to hell so they can be tortured for all entirety. Don't mess with my Family or Friends: If his family or friends get in trouble, he will drop everything to rush to their aid. Old Highschool Blues (Phobia): Samuel will not have anything to do with his old highschool, or even his old friends, if at all possible. He's sure that they all just see them as a cheater who used his superhuman levels of strength unfairly and he just does not want to deal with that. I can't seem to decide what kind of character I wish to play exactly, so I'm using this space here to hash out my ideas. I'll be editing this post as I think of more things. Feel free to make comments, suggestions, etc. I'm looking for which one to make as my player character(s). Animal-Inspired Battle suit "Cyber Beast": Would like to have different battlesuits he can switch between before heading out (BECOME THE TONY STARK). Stealth Suit with climbing/invisibility, General Purpose Suit with close and ranged combat, mobility. Big Brute suit with heavy(AoE) weapons and full shifted toughness. Intelligence is from his mutation, specializing in copying nature's designs and improving upon them.Demon-blooded/Half-demon Gunslinger+Relic Hunter+Monster Slayer "Samuel 'Brath' Ryland": Very Hotblooded, relies on his father's sword to reach his full power.Working on this character below.Close-combat Telekinetic/Psionic: Disruptive energy behind her punches destroy her foe's armor and can easily damage walls and the like. Unsure how to stat out. Existed before as dragon themed psionic, would be dropping the dragon bit this time and go for full BRUTE STRENGTH PSIONIC.Person with a mutation gone and abducted and turned into a cyborg fighting machine, Cyborg X-3R "Xeran". Woke up in storage after an update to his systems and proceeded to escape. He is troubled by the things he might have done under the evil organization's control and does hero work to try and make up for that as well as search for a new mea

I suppose this thread might be over? I mean it seems fairly resolved now and while I did want a scene in Amelyth's dream-space of her laying a beat down on the demon (with her as a dragon because she's in her own dream space ) this seems to be a fairly good point for it to end.

Player Name: ChrisClark13 Character Name: Vulcan Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: +2 Defense / -2 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Rebel Space Gadgeteer Alternate Identity: Kairan Talihan Identity: Secret Birthplace: Zultas Occupation: Mercenary Affiliations: Stellar Khanate (Rebel) Family: Father (Deceased), Mother, Little Brother (Deceased), Description: Age: 21 (DoB: 1993) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Khan Height: 5' 9" Weight: 175 Eyes: Green Hair: White (Describe what they look like!) Power Descriptions: (Describe what their powers look like, if applicable) History: While Kairan was still a young boy his father died in a small war and he was led to believe that it was in the service of furthering the glorious Khanate. This led to him being raised by his mother, who tried her best to instill a strong sense of honor in the boy while making out his father to be some kind of patriot. In time, Kairan attended and graduated at the top of his class at a military science academy and was immediately snapped up for a top secret weapons program. There he was put on the team developing a new stealth suit for the Special Ops unit, though whenever he heard of what the other teams would do... he just ignored it and kept on ignoring it until word of a certain accident reached his ears. One day he heard that his younger brother had died during a training accident, but that alone didn't push Kairan over the edge from loyalist to rebel. No, it was the way his coworkers reacted when they had heard the news and he received comments along the lines of "He just didn't have what it takes!" and "If he hadn't died there he probably would've died on his first mission anyhow!". This sudden jarring difference from what he had believed his society to be about prompted him to look into the circumstances behind his brother's death and he found out that it had been no accident. A gang of other trainees had ganged up to cause an "accident" because in fact his brother had been out shining them all in training! From there on Kairan dug and dug, finding out things he didn't want to know. Most of all that his father had been no patriot or war hero, but simply just cannon fodder that had died in an assault upon a warlord who had refused to join the Khanate again after it had been so sounded defeated by some Earthman named Daedalus and some organization called the Star-Knights. After a bit more research Kairan made up his mind, he would leave the Stellar Khanate and get away from all it's lies. During his escape he stole all of the data on the special ops stealth suit as well as the only prototype, just before activating the self destruct to blow up the facility and as faking his own death. He made it out on a lone stealth fighter which he sold once he made it out of Khanate space for a small amount of money to live on. Kairan knew the money he made wouldn't last long so he started selling his services as a freelance mercenary under the alias "Vulcan"; specializing in infiltration, extraction, and hacking (staying far away from assassination jobs). The suit he stole allowed him to rake in a fair amount of cash, though doing so got a bounty laid on him from a few different sources, particularly a large on from the Stellar Khanate itself once they found out that someone was running around with the prototype stealth suit that had just been stolen from them! At least more people want to hire him now. For now though, Kairan is laying low and only taking up jobs he feels morally interested in or when he really needs to pay the bills. Personality & Motivation: (Describe why they do what they do here) Powers & Tactics: (In-character descriptions of how they do what they do) Complications: Enemy: The Stellar Khanate wants whoever stole their prototype suit dead or alive, but most of all they want all years of research that was stolen from them back! They have laid out a rather large bounty and they may be some who want to go after it! Hatred: Kairan has a hard time trusting any kind of government right now and only trusts them as far as he can throw them. Which is not very far at all seeing as you can't throw a political entity. Temper: If Kairan sees those with higher power abusing innocents... well, he "won't be responsible for what happens to them." Which is usually they end up getting beat up and their bank accounts drained. Secret: Right now the universe thinks the Khanite known as Kairan Talihan is dead and he would prefer to keep it this way. He's deeply worried that if this secret got out his mother could be dragged off for interrogation and/or used as a hostage against himself.
