  1. Since I've managed to float my way back here yet again, I find myself needing some Adventure! (I promise to try really hard not to vanish mysteriously again or I'll just leave you all alone forever. >.<) As my only character is Amelyth she'll be the one I'm looking to play as, I would prefer some kind of Claremont related thing though anything with younger heroes would be good too.
  2. Amanda/Amelyth would count as a Junior
  3. Amanda (aka Amelyth) is a Claremonter and I feel like a good Claremont adventure would be a great thing to put her in.
  4. Sorry for suddenly not being here, I've been moving to a new house the last couple days. Now lets see if I can rustle up a post...
  5. I was thinking something like the lines of "You'll be joining X, Y, and Z on patrol tonight" or "You'll be joining them as they take down a base of X bag guys." or something. Go ahead and start up the thread when you're ready.
  6. I would like it to be the Academy purposefully setting Amelyth up with a hero or two (or three) for training purposes or something, though considering the wide background of characters people are posting interest with I'm not sure how that'll be pulled off.
  7. Ah sorry, cleaning up in preparation to move and stuff, been busy around here. I'm still looking for a Claremont thread and Arich is fine for DMing and I'll trust him to come up with whatever plot he wants.
  8. Forgot a "don't" in the opening post to say I'm not GMing. ^.^; So could anyone GM this?
  9. So due to real life stuff and the previous thread kind of being lost in confusion land, I'm not going to try and wait for the previous thread to complete before moving on with Amelyth. So I was thinking a thread where 1-2 heroes from Claremont go out and help show my character the ropes or something like that. I don't feel comfortable GMing this so in the end we should have 3-4 players or something. I'm okay with anything as long as it's related to Claremont. Edit: Missed a "don't", funny how this changes a sentence.
  10. Amelyth takes 10 again and ruins another piece of carpet, Taking 10 for a total of 18 and DC 27 Toughness slashing damage with her Dragon Claws.
  11. Amelyth took a deep breath and made an uppercut slash at one of the strips of carpet, tearing it into strips, and followed up with a slash from her other hand that tore what was left of the carpet from the floor with a satisfying ripping noise. The bits that were still on the floor squirmed a bit as she looked around at all the other heroes that had shown up to help. Assuming that she was the only one with real slashing weaponry she yelled out, "I've got the carpets, you guys smash the rest of the furniture!" She looked around at the rest of the carpets she had volunteered to take on and pulled her wings in a little closer to protect herself. Okay, I've got this. Nothing I can't handle. Hopefully they can keep the rest of the junk off of me.
  12. Sorry for the delay, was kind of getting settled in at my new house. Also staying up to crazy hours and the days kind of blended together. Amelyth will Take 10 for a total of 18 and try to slash a rug with her Dragon Claws, prompting a DC 27 Toughness save if it hits.
  13. Initiative: 1d20+9=28
  14. Amelyth was flying around after school in her Hero attire (just for the joy of flying about really) when she decided to rest on the rooftop of the building across the street from the bank. She was just about to lie down on it too when she saw a large group of people suddenly burst out of the bank, running as fast as they could. She watched in interest as she saw two heroes suddenly appear in front of the bank. Amelyth scrambled to her feet after a moment and flew down to join them, not wanting to be left out. And besides, she's in costume, being a Hero right now, it would be wrong of her not to check it out! She walked up behind them and started talking, "What's going on here..." She said as she looked inside, "...that's crazy..." The heroine tilts her head with her mouth slightly agape as she does her best to comprehend what her eyes are seeing. She shakes her head and her eyes light up with psionic energy, looking to the other heroes for guidance for a moment since they seem to be older and more experienced to her since she hadn't dealt with any super-crime yet personally. "So we just beat up the furniture right? Oh! And I'm Amelyth, nice to meet you two."
  15. Got it. Amelyth's just activating her Psionic Senses, and her Dragon Wings are already active.
  16. Hmm.... does anyone want to be Amelyth's "senior hero partner" because that sounds like something Claremont would do with heroes they're in contact with/alumni.
  17. Perfect first super-crime stopping act for Amelyth! Just hooking her up with some Veteran Heroes and the other new guy. Edit: No wait, dang three people have already expressed interest. I'll be alright if Amelyth doesn't make it in then since I'm kind of being a late comer with this post.
  18. Edited by Ecalsneerg Just some edits to get the most bang out of her main power Array and mainly some tweaks to Mind Reading. Also PP cost for powers in the Array listed as [XX/1 PP] now for easier bookkeeping.
  19. Yeah that's what I wanted, fixed.
  20. Player Name: ChrisClark13Character Name: Amelyth Power Level: 10 150/154PP Trade-Offs: -2 Attack / +2 Damage, -2 Defense / +2 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 4 Progress To Bronze Status: 4/30 In Brief: Psion with dragon themed powers. Her powers are unusually strong for someone at her minimal skill level, though they definitely lack finesse seeing how they crackle with untamed energy. Alternate Identity: Amanda Green Identity: Secret Birthplace: Freedom City Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy Student and Hero Family: Mother, Older Brother, Dog Description: Age: 17 (DoB: 1996) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian. Height: 105 lbs Weight: 5' 6" Eyes: Blue Hair: Blonde, Purple in costume because wig. Amanda Green has a slim, toned build. She's not very athletic though and so she's doesn't have a lot of muscle on her. She wears her natural hair pretty short and sports a baseball cap when she can. Her clothing is usually just made up of a t-shirt and jeans. Sometimes she'll wear a bracelet or two. As Amelyth, she wears a purple mini-jacket over a white t-shirt and a pair of purple jeans along with white boots and gloves. Her domino mask is white. She also wears a purple medium-length wig over her hair. Power Descriptions: Amelyth's eyes crackle with untamed psionic energy any time she uses her powers other than the Enhanced Trait ones. Her powers are unrefined and so they more often than not crackle with psionic energy, in fact her whole body crackles with it at times. Dragon Claws: Amelyth creates a pair of vicious translucent purple dragon-like claws that go over her hands. She has gotten them to not cause lethal harm to organic matter, though any inorganic matter is usually sliced right through. Psi Storm Breath: Amelyth exhales a burst of chaotic psionic energy that lashes at whoever it hits. Knockback Wave: Amelyth sends a crackling sphere of psionic energy out from herself that picks up things in it's path and flings them away. Stun: Amelyth's hands crackle with psionic energy that can knock most people out cold. Dragon Wings: A pair of translucent dragon wings sprouts from her back, both shielding her in battle and allowing her to fly. Psionic Senses: Amelyth's eyes shine with psionic energy as she uses this power. History: Ever since Amanda could remember, she's always been in second place to someone, be it her brother, her peers at school, or just to everybody in general. It started with when she was young and came off to a slow start in her schooling, always wanting to play make-believe or play a game rather than do her homework. Her brother on the other hand took to schooling like a fish to water and constantly outshine his litter sister who just couldn't seem to catch up. Amanda has time and time again been compared to her brother, especially by her single mother. It didn't help that Amanda was making hardly any friends at school, always being the quiet one who sat in the corner and doodled. As the years went on she had a few friends here and there, she always seemed to be just an accessory to them. So she eventually just gave up on making friends altogether and retreated further into her drawing and her daydreams. Along the way she picked up a fascination with dragons (she now has an entire wall of her room dedicated to stuffed animal dragons). Her brother rarely looked out for her during her middle and high school years so she was an easy target for bullies this lead to her getting in trouble more than a few times for skipping school to avoid them. This in turn got her in trouble with her mother, who just couldn't get why her daughter was seemingly incapable of being as great as her brother. This ended up in a huge one-sided argument which in the end caused Amanda to run away from home that very night. Amanda ran to a nearby park and sat there crying on a bench, she's not sure what happened after that as all she remembers is waking up in a hospital the next day, and a couple superheroes standing around to make sure that she was alright. They told her that her powers had gone out of control that night, though even they weren't sure why. What Amanda was most surprised about is that they said that she had powers at all! Over the next week as she recovered well enough to go home, she slowly discovered what she could do, mostly though it was knocking things around with bursts of psionic energy at first that were way more powerful than she had intended. She ended up breaking things more than once as she did her best to get the hang of it. Amanda was of course enrolled in Claremont (her mother being more than a little angry that her eldest son couldn't get in, though she managed to keep such comments to herself), and soon the budding physic found she was able to mold her energy into different shapes and her first thoughts were to create wings to fly with. After a few times of trial and error she soon had the hang of it and set out to discover what other dragony things she could do. After six months of training she was allowed to begin being a hero, adopting the name Amelyth. (In the meantime the situation at home has been turned on it's head, with Amanda suddenly being her mother's favorite child because of her powers and her brother being pressured on an almost weekly basis to develop powers of his own. While it's humorous, Amanda has begun to feel bad for her brother, though not too bad. It does worry her that brother's been forced to do everything short of anything illegal in her mother's quest to have him manifest powers though.) Personality & Motivation: Amanda is a shy, insecure girl who has avoided interacting with other people for a long time, though as Amelyth she's considerably more outgoing, brave, and personable. She does her best to do everything she thinks a hero should do. Amanda mainly wants to escape from her old life and uses the hero identity Amelyth to do so. She finds joy in being a hero and standing in the limelight, though she's still insecure around people from her normal life. Slowly though, her normal life is starting to improve due to her experiences as a hero. Powers & Tactics: Amelyth's powers give her one main tactic: power up and dive straight in into the brawl. She only really uses real tactics in a fight when brute strength just isn't enough. When she has to be, she can get pretty creative in a fight, usually damaging the environment, then if she's really in a pinch she'll use Power Stunts to try and get out if it. Complications: Enemies: How ever she got her powers, it was forced. Though who ever did it also had to flee the scene due to her powers spiraling out of control. Who ever did it may want the results of his/her experiment back. Secret: Identity. She keeps her Hero identity and powers a secret from those in her normal life as best she can. Relationship: Her mother and her brother as a pain in the butt sometimes, though if they ever got in trouble she would of course go out of her way to save them. Responsibility: As a student of Claremont, she still needs to get her homework done on top of being a Hero. Power Overload: If her powers get boosted greatly somehow or she's forced to use a lot of power in a pinch, she'll pass out as soon as she's done going "nova" from anywhere to an hour to a couple days depending on how much power was released at once. 22. Removed that complication and moved the Smart Phone into Equipment (I don't see her needing free-action calling of people) and that let me put a couple points into Strenght. (Originally I had moved a couple points of of Strength to make the Smart Phone a device anyways, so now I've put them back.) Also fixed up the Grapple and Initiative bonuses and lowered the rank of Strike in the baton, since I had put the points in Strength she still meets caps. If you have any issues with her history, now is the time to poke at it.
  23. Player Name: ChrisClark13 Character Name: Mirage Power Level: 10 150/150 PP Trade-Offs: +2 Attack -2 Damage, +2 Defense -2 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: A woman from the 19th century who's life was altered forever when she was given the power to shapeshift by a trickster spirit. She's done a lot of things here and there, but most recently she got involved with a super-gang and turned herself and the rest in when a recent plan crossed one too many lines for her. Alternate Identity: Rosanna "Annie" Porter Identity: Secret Birthplace: Some town in Virigina, raised mostly in Freedom City Occupation: Former manufacturing plant worker, Ex-super-gang member. Affiliations: Project Freedom, Jessica's family, Steve's gang. Family: John and Elizabeth Porter, both deceased for a long time. She has cut off ties with their descendants. Description: Age: 163 (DoB: 1850) Apparent Age: 20-25, varies based on mood. Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5' 2" Weight: 105 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Brown Annie looks like a near-perfect model of what old fashioned beauty would look like, or at least she would if she was wearing clothes from that time periods (she can totally rock that look though). She usually wears modern clothing, letting her wavy hair hang down to a few inches below her shoulders. She doesn't wear makeup at all usually, instead if she wants to look like she's wearing makeup she just shape shifts to look that way. Her costume at the moment is just a armored, black, generic costume. Power Descriptions: Morph: Mirage can (somewhat) gracefully assume any humanoid form, changing clothes, gender, race, species even. Smart Phone: An Android based phone issued by Project Freedom, comes with an ear piece for hands-free talking. Also her main time-wasting device. Collapsible Electrified Baton: Modeled after collapsible police batons, this one is longer than the norm: being about as long as a sword when fully extended. It can also deliver electric shocks with each strike, though only when fully extended. Only when it's collapsed does the Subtle feat apply. Flash-bangs and Smoke Grenades: Standard equipment, nothing special here. Goo Grenades: These experimental grenades explode into a mess of sticky, blue goop that solidifies within a few seconds upon contact with air. History: When she was four years old she was snatched away by a trickster spirit who was in need of a helper, he changed her entire being inside and out so she could help effectively. When the spirit was done with his tricks (and she was getting homesick as well) he couldn't remember what she had looked like in the first place so he gave her the power to change her shape and left her alone, assuming she could figure out what she had originally looked like on her own. When she was found by her mother again she had been missing for an entire week, but her mother soon found out that her only daughter had been returned as a different kind of being. As time went on, she discovered that in addition to her power to change, she also didn't seem to age as everyone else in her family did. She lived with her brother, a Civil War veteran, in his manor as she became less and less unsure about what she was. Over time her brother died of old age and she lived with his oldest son in the same manor. She cut ties with her brother's descendants after the Great Depression, not want to burden them anymore when they suddenly had trouble even supporting themselves, and went her own way in life. During WWII she worked at an aircraft factory and had a run in with a monstrous spy for Germany. At first he seemed like a nice guy, but she was only planning on snatching Annie to be his own and was playing with her for a while as well as secretly using her to spy on the aircraft factory. Luckily she was able to discover his ruse before it became too late and managed to defeat him by dropping an aircraft engine on him in his monster form. Last she saw he was dragged off by the military and she's never seen the spy again. After WWII ended she continued to wander about America and joined up with a group of hippies in the 1960s, making a close friend named Jessica (who was in on Annie's secret, but didn't particually care). After the group broke up after a few years Annie lived with Jessica and then her children as time passed. Things were good for them for a time, Annie was even able to move into her own apartment and find a job as a secretary. But around the turn of the 21st century, things started to go sour for them as credit card debt and bills forced all of Jessica's small family to move in with Annie. Jessica's grandson, Steve, joined a gang to try and bring in extra money and everyone silently turned a blind eye since they really needed the money. Then one day Steve ended up in the hospital, so Annie disguised herself as 18 year old and went out to join his gang to try and repay all the kindness that had been shown her. When Steve got out of the hospital he wouldn't let himself be persuaded to leave the gang, and so they sank into a life of stealing. The gang was brought in more money than ever with Annie's help (and less people ended up getting hurt in general too!) but that attracted the attention of a superpowered gang who through careful observation discovered that Annie was more than she seemed. They approached her one night and forced her to show them her powers and join them or else they would go after Jessica's family. Uneasy memories of the spy prodded at the back of her mind, but she agreed. The large amounts of money she now made keep her content with working for them, but then someone (should I have it be obviously?) from Overthrow contacted her super-gang with a deal. The deal was that if the gang went to the mall and caused a big fuss, take hostages, whatever it took and then in return they would get a ridiculous large sum of money. To seal the deal, the contact even sent over a bunch of gear and weapons to cause mayhem with. Then the super-gang decided they wanted to bring in Steve's gang, because it was a really big job. That one line too many for her and she turned the super-gang and herself in before even another hour had passed. Some soon superheroes arrived and arrested them all (of course the others resisted arrest with their new toys, but Annie just let herself be taken in). She went through Project Freedom as soon as she learned what it was, in what most would swear was record time, keeping her Steve's involvement in the other gang a secret since she's worried that he wouldn't be able to get off as easily as she had. At the moment she's faithfully fulfilling her missions under the codename Mirage, but if something pops up that she could pursue to help Jessica or Steve she'll go for it. Personality & Motivation: Annie's personality seems old fashioned, but that's only because she tends to use a lot of old fashioned words and swears. At heart she's free spirit who looks out for the ones she loves. She's currently working with Project Freedom as much as she can because she believes that she's bound to find some way to help Jessica's family or at least earn some favors she could call in to help them. Powers & Tactics: She fights rather un-womanly, going for a grapple if fighting a single opponent or doing her best to land nasty punches if fighting multiple opponents. If she manages to sneak up on an opponent she just punches their lights right out. She mainly uses her shape shifting ability to blend in with a crowd or sometimes to impersonate a specific person. Complications: Quirk: Seemingly a holdover from earlier times when people were arguably more polite, Annie tends to use the most elaborate curses and swears that she can think of when she gets mad. If she's in a disguise, this can definitely ruin her cover. Power Loss: Getting drunk/high/etc causes her to lose her grip over her current form and she'll revert to her normal form. Powers that cause similar effects will cancel out her morphing abilities as well. Secret: Identity and the situation she's in. She hides her powers and identity from anyone who doesn't truly need to know about it. She also tries to hide the fact that she's an ex-crook from any bad guys or heroes she runs into for fear of bringing prejudice (good or bad) down upon herself. Responsibility/Secret: Jessica's family. Annie feels like that she has to do something to get Jessica and her family out of the bad situation they're in, the less bad guys know about this the better. She tries to keep this a secret from everyone for fear of bringing even more troubles upon them. Enemies: Jessica's old gang would probably love to get their hands on her if/when they escape from prison. Also if the spy found out about her he would love to make her pay dearly for what she did to him. On a Leash: As part of Project Freedom, Mirage has had a microchip implanted into neck so that they can track her movements at all times (it was much easier than designing a bracelet or anklet that adapts to her morphing abilities). It constantly emits a signal on a low frequency that technologically minded foes could potentially take advantage of. Also she's not allowed to leave Freedom City without an escort or at least a very good reason. If she tries to, a hero will be called in to go fetch her. Shines with Magic: Because of her nature, she shows up strongly to any abilities that can Detect Magic, regardless of whether or not she's currently using her Morph power. This may cause problems when she's in disguise. 24. Any and all critique on her is welcome. Alternate Identity: Rosanna "Annie" Porter Identity: Secret Birthplace: Virigina, raised mostly in Freedom City Occupation: Former manufacturing plant worker, Ex-super-gang member. Power Descriptions: Morph: Annie can (somewhat) gracefully assume any humanoid form, changing clothes, gender, race, species even. 25. Neospell grabs the can, "Thanks." He stands still for a few moments before feeling his mask with his fingers. "And maybe a better face covering, I can't drink anything without turning the whole costume off and... yeah no pockets. Here." He sighs and hands the can back. Neospell then takes a seat on one of the car's hoods, "The opportunity basically just fell into my lap one day, I thought it whole be a terrible waste to just pass it up... and I'm still trying it out actually. If this doesn't work out I think I have a job I can fall back on, maybe I could even make magical things for other people eventually, though I've not figured that part out yet.... and that's about it. How'd you get into the heroing business?"
