  1. GM Afternoon, November 17th Traveling across the North Sea, heading for Norway Once again, a rescue mission. The members of Rex Atom's Atom Academy squad has spent the time since the group formed on a number of smaller and large scale missions, but now, they are joined by the newest member of their squad: Levity, gravity controller and pilot extraordinaire. A student at the Atom Academy noticed some strange readings caught by a satellite they had helped send into orbit, which seems to originate from the mountains of Norway. Exotic energy pulses from deep within the mountains, that spell out the morse code .../---/... , but their point of origin should be solid bedrock. A mystery, just the kind that the Atom Academy specializes in. They will reach the site soon, but they have time for the final preparations.
  2. Rex Atom Gather Information DC10: Rex Atom is the newest member of the Atom Family. There is some tension, as not everyone outside the family believes that he is a legitimate member of the family. The Atom Family itself has welcomed him with open arms. DC15: Rex runs his own specialized Atom Academy team, which seems to consist of an eclectic group of individuals. He posses size shifting abilities, able to grow and shrink at will. DC20: Rex's Atom Academy team specialize in uncovering lost history and journeys into the unknown. While they rarely act in the capacity of regular super heroes, they seem to be focused on saving lives. DC25: The exotic energies that course through Rex's body are volatile. He must wear a special suit to keep his powers under control. Knowledge: Current Events DC10: Rex's inclusion in the Atom Academy caused quite a stir at first, and there are still some Atom Family fans that refuse to acknowledge him, despite his acceptance in the family. Knowledge: History DC25: Rex is the illegitimate great-grandson of Dr. Alexander Atom, whose grandfather was conceived with his lover Marie Vaulaire during the second world war. Knowledge: Physical Sciences DC15: Rex's ability to alter the size of himself and others should be possible under any physical laws that the general population knows. Knowledge: Technology DC15: Rex's own abilities seem to be enhanced by his usage of a multitude of technology created by the Atom Academy.
  3. GM Atomic Tower, Midtown, Freedom City Early April 2024 Atomic Tower has housed the Atom Academy for four years now. A lot has gone on during that time, experiments and discoveries, but they have mostly been focused on moving forward, on the future. Rex Atom wants to change that. There's a lot hiding in the world, discoveries from the past, strange things that should and shouldn't be, and, he thinks that the Atom Academy needs to be a bit more proactive, so he has set out a reminder to the members of the academy and any of their associates, asking for anyone that would like to join him on his proposed journeys into the unknown. Everyone interested has been asked to meet in laboratory 55. It is a large open room, with a holographic projector, often used to model molecules or the like. Rex Atom himself seems to be running late, while everyone else are beginning to arrive in the room. So, the question is... who is everyone? Why are they here? What are their relation to the Atom Academy, if any? Why do they want to join the journeys into the mystery?
  4. OOC for this. @Kaede Kimura @Thunder King @Epiphany @Tiffany Korta @Poncho Let me know how you want to approach the room or if there's anything you want to try to roll for!

While in the field, Rex wears his own custom Atom Academy uniform. The uniform is primarily black, with blue panels on the chest leading from the shoulders to the waist on the front and shoulderpads kept in place with white straps. The sleeves end in white straps, and Rex wears fingerless black gloves and a white belt with pouches. The pants feature black panels on the outside of the legs similar to the panels on Rex's chest, and black boots that end in white straps similar to those that end his sleeves. Glowing pink powerlines on his chest, arms and legs glow whenever he activates his powers. He has a small glowing Atom symbol on his left chest over his heart. Like the powerlines, it glows when Rex uses his powers. HISTORY Everyone knows the story of the Atom Family. The patriarch Dr. Alexander Atom met his wife Anne after World War Two, they fell in love through her aggressive pursuit, and they eventually became the proud parents of the brilliant Andrea Atom and took in the few years older Jack Wolf. Andrea would in turn marry Mentac, exiled prince of Farside City, before their disappearence during the 1992 Omega invasion. Their children Maximus, Tesla, Victoria and Chase would become famous as the Atom Family during the 1990'es, each a mutant with extraordinary powers, guided and helped by Jack Wolf and an AI recreation of their grandfather, and they would eventually establish the Atom Academy in 2020. But before Anne, there was Marie Vaulaire, a French resistance fighter that Dr. Atom met and fell in love with during World War Two. The two shared the kind of intense and passionate romance that could only happen during the war, however brief it was. Marie Vaulaire's death fighting the against the Nazi occupation of her home led to her death, and Dr. Atom was left a broken man, spending a decade engrossed in his work until he fell in love with Anne. Dr. Atom never learned that Marie had given birth to a healthy baby boy half a year before her death. Her time her son Alain was shortlived, but he was raised in a loving home by Marie's sister Sophie, who never learned the identity of Alain's father. Alain was always a bright young man, and he would eventually become a professor at The Université de Lyon, where he met his future wife Jeanette Blanchet. In 1968, their son Roy was born. Roy found a passion for engineering, proving to be a prodigy. He would eventually leave France and move to Chicago in the United States, where het met Sarah Wilson in 1993. They married in 1996, and, at the stroke of midnight, as the clock passed from 1999 to the year 2000, their son Rex was born. Growing up, Rex Vaulaire soon showed that his genius outshone both his grandfather and father. He was, to put it bluntly, a genius, and he quickly accelerated through High School and college at a young age. Never the most social person in the world, prefering his own work and research, Rex was nonetheless part of a dedicated group of friends, and never had any social issues. Both Roy and Sarah did all they could to nurture and help Rex, providing what they could for him. Everything was fine as Rex discovered a potential new energy source, one that could potentially power the world, and he dedicated himself to this source. An accident in Rex's laboratory led to his body being infused with the energy source, triggering a Meta Crisis that caused his body to grow to gigantic proportions, continuously growing and growing. Losing control of himself, Rex accidentally destroyed several buildings as he tried to steer himself away from populated areas. The Atom Family was called in, and, with their help, Rex was able stabilize the energy and return to normal size. When the Atom Family brought him to Atom Tower to create a long-term solution, scans and tests done would eventually reveal the identity of Rex's unknown great-grandfather, much to the surprise of both Rex and the Atom Family. Rex and his parents were welcomed into the Atom Family with open arms, and Rex moved from Chicago to Atom Tower in Freedom City in an effort to connect with his newly discovered family and master his new powers. Inspired by the secret history that led to his grandfather's birth and eventually to himself, Rex has dedicated himself to leading a small group of Atom Academy members to explore the secrets and wonders of the world. PERSONALITY & MOTIVATION Rex is a proud, curious and sometimes arrogant individual. Seeing himself as a scientist first and a super hero second, he is more driven by a hunger for knowledge and progress than to be a hero. Rex rarely takes the time to socialize and can seem distant, preferring to focus on the missions than interpersonal relationships. He is still in awe at being part of the Atom Family and is still coming to grips with what it means to essentially be the illegitimate scion of super hero royalty, and how he fits into the larger world, which in turn feeds his passion for making new discoveries and exploring the world and its secret pasts. Despite the assurances from the rest of the Atom Family, Rex feels like he has something to prove to the world. POWER DESCRIPTIONS The extradimensional energies that infuses Rex's body allows him to manipulate his own size, theoretically without any limit, though past experiences and the destruction that he caused means that Rex is scared to grow too much, in case he loses control again. While at regular size, Rex can also infuse these energies into just about anything else, making his target grow or shrink. Rex carries a large number of shrunken down items in his pouches, allowing him to bring out just about anything he needs. To properly control the energy that allows him to adjust the size of himself and others, Rex's wears costume and his regular clothes incorporates what he has dubbed Size Shift Technology woven into the fabric. To compliment his abilities and powers, Rex uses a variety of technology developed at the Atom Academy, made by both himself and others, including an Universal Translator, a power Communicator that allows him to access computers and machines, goggles that grant him enhanced vision options, a local gravitational distortion that allows him to perform incredible leaps and otherwise locally negate gravity, as well as a highly advanced self-mapping GPS. Only some of these devices work when Rex changes his size, as the radiation interferes with ttheir use, or Rex risks breaking them if he causes their size to shift. COMPLICATIONS Big Man on Campus: Rex's size shifting can cause him issues. Get too big and he might end up in the ceiling, get too small, and he might be stepped on or go unnoticed when he wants to be. The GM can rewards Rex with a Hero Point if changing size or being at the wrong size hinders him in some way. Curiosity Killed the Atom: Rex is a curious individual, and his latest obsession seems to be the secret history of the world that he himself turned out to be part of. The GM can award Rex a Hero Point if his curiosity and drive to find out more makes a situation worse. Pride Goes Before The Fall: Rex is proud of what he can do, and he does not take hits to that pride easily, whether someone points out mistakes he has made, such as the experiment that gave him his powers, or just proves him wrong. The GM can reward Rex with a hero Point if his negative reaction due to his pride makes a situation worse. Secret Atom: As a so far unknown member of Atom Family, Rex's place in the world is unsure, both to himself and others. The GM can reward Rex with a Hero Point if his position as a member of the Atom Family hinders him, such as old Atom Family members being hostile or attacking, or others believing that he is faking being a member of the Atom Family. Unstable: The extradimensional energies that empower Rex are unstable. While he can use his powers without the Size Shift Technology woven into his uniform and clothes, the effects will be unpredictable at best, and dangerous at worst. The GM can deem that Rex's Size Shift Technology is damaged, choosing an alternate effect when he tries to either Morph or use a power in the Size Shift array, giving him a Hero Point in return. 7. Devon 51 Power Level: 10/10 (150/173PP) Unspent Power Points: 23pp Trade-Offs: -3/+3 Attack and Toughness in Powerhouse form, +2/-2 Attack and Toughness in Speedster form. All other forms -0/-0 In Brief: an EMT gains the ability to turn into any number of Preserver modified Aliens, uses them to be a superhero. Catchphrase: "Your number just came up." Theme: Symbiotic- Starset Alternate Identity: Dwayne Devon Davidson (Public), Three-D Birthplace: Yonkers, New York Residence: An apartment in Southside Freedom City Occupation: Full-Time EMT, member of the Atom Academy, Superhero Affiliations: Atom Academy, the Freedom Metro Fire Department Family: His Father and Mother still living in Yonkers, his sisters, one in Oregon and one in Manhattan Description: Age: 32 (DoB: 1991) Gender: Male Ethnicity: Mixed-Race Caucasian/African American Height: 5'10 Weight: 170lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Dwayne is a somewhat average looking man with curly black hair and a trimmed goatee and mustache. He's all business most of the time; serious, forthright, and honest. He was raised by his parents to work hard, never complain, and never back talk. He's taken these lessons to heart, but added some of his own; to be honest, to help others when they need them, and to drop a few extra dollars in the collection plate when he can. He keeps his clothes pressed and his shoes clean. History: Born in Yonkers, New York, Dwayne Davidson grew up under the watchful eye of his father Patrick and his mother Shawna. Even in one of the most metropolitan areas in the world, there are still people who look down on a mixed-race kid. Dwayne wasn't the smartest, but he was a pretty hard worker, and he had good enough grades to have a decent pick to do what he wanted to with his life. His desire to help others led him to the NYFD, and the EMT training within. After he finished his training, he worked in the Bronx for a few years, but eventually the higher pay and the more consistent need of Freedom City called his interest, and Dwayne moved to the City of the Future, setting himself up in an apartment in Lincoln and joining a local fire station. Three-D became a favored member of the community afterwards; helping the elderly and the young both on and off the clock. It changed during a big pile up on the Century Bridge during a Super Villain attack, one so bad that multiple precincts were called in for triage and rescue. During that moment, a random man- someone who Dwayne had never met before and never would again- was trapped in their car, threatening to tip over the edge. Dwayne ran to save them without concern, and as he tried to lift the man out, the car went over the bridge. But rather than hitting the water, the man turned into an alien and carried the car to safety before collapsing. The explanation was fast, but filled with important information, enough that Dwayne still isn't sure exactly what happened. 'This device is ancient Preserver Technology; the Encyclopedia Eternita. I've been keeping it safe, hidden, from those would would misuse it. But...now I have no more time left. Please. Keep this safe.' And then the man died. And as the Encyclopedia Eternita left his wrist, he reverted back into a Lor. And the Encyclopedia bound itself to Dwayne. Damaged and in need of repair, the piece of super-technology now permanent bound to Dwayne is far from living up to it's potential. But under the watch of the Atom Family and with Dwayne's patient, careful nature, it's secrets are ready to slowly be unraveled. But there are many that want the Encyclopedia, and Dwayne will have to protect it. Personality & Motivation: Dwyane is driven to help others and to figure out the burden that has been placed on him. He cares about Lincoln and his neighbors, but he also wants to use his powers to help others, which is what has led him to open come out as a Superhero to protect others. Calm, patient, and at times introspective, Dwayne will leap in to protect others, but always be considering his options. He is open to teams and defers to the more knowledgeable when in them; he knows he's great as a back-up, so he's naturally supportive of others and will attempt to cater to what others need to support them. Powers & Tactics: Dwayne's powers come entirely from the Encyclopedia Eternita; a wrist-watch looking device with a plate of numbers. It's primary color-scheme is blue and yellow, appropriate for an EMT. By entering a combination of numbers and twisting the plate, Dwayne can transform into any number of aliens that were catalogued by the Preservers; transforming into an exemplar of any species the Preservers recorded or modified. While he has certain creatures he favors, this is mostly because he has memorized the button combinations for them- since he can't translate the numbers himself, he has to rely on rote memorization to determine which form he gets-. In battle, he generally picks a form that supports his allies, shoring up weaknesses or figuring out what they need more of before switching to it. By himself he tends to favor his Tempestian or Kelvanic transformations, but he's not afraid of turning into Humbaba when he needs the sheer brute force. He's not fond of Wrinkles. Power Descriptions: All of Dwayne's powers are Alien in nature, and natural expressions of that Alien's power. If he transforms into a Tempestian, he can throw lightning bolts. 8. Rewind Power Level: 10 (150 PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: None In Brief: Time Loop Survivor who Time Loops for Great Justice! Theme: This Moment by Elevation Rhythm Alternate Identity: Naisha Sidhu Birthplace: Friday, December 21st, 2012 Residence: The Goodman Building, Midtown Freedom City Base of Operations: Worldwide Occupation: Scientist/Researcher Affiliations: The Atom Family / Atom Academy Family: It's complicated... Description: Apparent Age: Looks 20 (DoB: Theoretically September 7th 1992) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Punjabi Height: 1.674m (5'6") Weight: 60kg (132 lbs) Eyes: Green Hair: Naturally dark brown Naisha is a seemingly ordinary Punjabi woman who wears t-shirts and jeans, when she's not dressing up for the office. Although she looks 20, there's a perceptible control and precision to her every movement that no 20-year-old has, still new to a changing body. She's been exactly the way she is for an incalculable period, knows exactly how to step without misstepping, how to catch without fumbling. Her dark eyes show the weight of age, in that she no longer fears the reaction or response of others. Naisiae's voice has a typically Midwestern American accent, except when it amuses her to use one of the 20 other accents she's practiced, and her voice is a soft soprano. As Rewind, her 'costume' is a morphic molecule bodysuit that covers her neck to toe. It features the classic Atom Family design, a mostly form-fitting costume with a symbol of the atom on the left side of the chest and a distinctive black stripe on the left blocking out the left side and left arm in a light blue color. Her main uniform color is the standard blue of the Atom Academy. History: In 1979, the original/Silver Age Atom Family discovered the broken day of Friday, December 21st, 2012 while conducting experiments in Z-Space. For details, you can read the original Rewind character sheet in Google Docs. The Atom Family eventually left the looped town of Millscroft behind to continue their adventures in other dimensions and realities. One left a journal that made it into the loop and eventually 'awoke' one of the inhabitants to consciousness, thereby condemning her to untold ages of curiosity, boredom, panic and eventual madness. When the new Atom Family returned in the actual year of 2012, they found Naisha Sidhu and freed her. In the real world for the first time, Naisha asked to stay on in the Goodman Building for a time while she acclimatized herself to living where time actually worked. She discovered Millscroft was indeed a real town and there was a Naisha Sidhu living there. Disturbed beyond words, she never made contact. Instead, she became an employee of Atomic, Inc. and spent the next seven years working as a researcher, for the lifetimes she'd spent learning and practicing science had given her an enormous breadth of uncredentialed education. She happily indulged Dr. Atom's every scientific whim, as one of the gophers and 'hands' the scientist's AI used to continue wrapping up old research. A few years of study revealed she had some marked temporal abilities herself. Feeling a need to make a difference, Naisha started practicing what she could do and eventually joined the Atom Academy formally as a superhero. Her ability to survive death and rewind consequences were ideal traits for a team of explorers who kept finding danger. Now, she does what she can whenever the Atom Academy fields a team. Personality & Motivation: Naisha is fundamentally a decent person, motivated to help people and to do nice things when she has the chance. Her work ethic is extraordinary, owing to decades spent being the only source of motivation in her existence. She likes problems and puzzles, mysteries, and gathering data. Focusing on unknowns, variables, and 'things' means she can avoid focusing on her life. She's an accomplished actress and liar, a skill honed by more decades spent trying out every imaginable phrase to explain away why she'd done some crazy thing in front of witnesses back in Friday, December 21st, 2012. This gives her considerable ability in pretending to be a well-adjusted time loop survivor and she tries hard never to create doubt that this is the case. The truth is that Naisha still struggles with her existence. Consequence is meaningless to someone who just wakes up on Friday, December 21st, 2012, no worse for wear. She was raised Sikh, became a born-again Christian in her teens, and practiced every religion she could find at one time or another. She's reasonably sure there's a God after all, given all she's learned from the Atom Family in the past decade, but she's not sure she is anything God cares about. This world already has a Naisha Sidhu. What value is this strange refugee from a broken day? But people give her an excuse to pretend to be normal like them. Whenever possible, Naisha stays around or at least near other people. She's spent the last twelve years spent as a coworker, friend, lover, playmate, or even that girl-who-always-gets-coffee-and-chats-with-the-barista-every-Friday-at-7:52am. It's all to ensure she's real and she's real because others remember her. For better or worse, an eternity in Friday, December 21st, 2012 has destroyed Naisha's sense of object permanence. And she can't possibly let anyone know because talking about her mental health could lead to the possibility of institutionalization and if there's one thing she can't stand, it's the idea that she might be locked up somewhere again. So instead, she focuses on being a hero as a member of the Atom Academy. It's meaningful work with people, for people. Being kind and helping others was the only source of joy in her broken day that never wore out. Even if she helped someone for the 500th time, it was still the first time for them and seeing the genuine appreciation helped her still feel it too. And as long as she can focus on other people, Naisha can keep avoiding her need to deal with her own issues. 9. Madame Raven Power Level: 10/14 (211/220PP) Unspent Power Points: 9pp Trade-Offs: +4 Attack / -4 Damage In Brief: What do you do next when you're a woman out of time? Theme: You're Dead by Norma Tanega Alternate Identity: Calliope "Callie" Sen (Public) Calliope "Callie" Summers (Secret) Birthplace: Hong Kong Residence: Summers Building, New York Base of Operations: Worldwide Occupation: Businesswoman Affiliations: Raven Family Family: Doctor Sin (Grandfather), Duncan Summers (Father), Jasmine Sin (Mother), Callie Summers (Possible future self) Description: Age: 20 (DoB: 24th August 1973 [Time Displaced]) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Asian / European mix Height: 1.702m (5'7") Weight: 50kg (110 lbs) Eyes: Green Hair: Black Callie has inherited her beauty from her mother, though often marred by the scowl of her father. Even with a few more years under her belt, she looks more like her duplicate, though there are still enough differences that they get away as relatives. She keeps her hair relatively short, both to differentiate herself from her duplicate and so that it can't become disadvantageous in a fight. When in public as a wealthy businesswoman, woman she dresses in the most stylish clothes that always perfectly suit the occasion, still ethically sourced and environmentally sustainable, in private though she prefers loose fitting comfortable t-shirts and sweats. Though still in its early stages, her Raven costume is far from the homemade costume she wore at Claremont. Made of tough yet light high-tech polymers the black suits offer maximum protection, the cloak is particularly impressive appearing like a simple cloth cloak it can harden at will allowing Callie to use it as a weapon in a fight. It's also covered in scalloped cloth feathers that can be plucked and thrown becoming the family's signature Raven-like boomerangs. They even regenerate meaning they will rarely run out, and the cloak always looks good, though with extended use the cloak will appear shorter than it was originally. To make herself stand out from the other Ravens, and despite the potential risk she doesn't wear a cowl, just covering her mouth and wearing a domino mask to avoid giving away her identity. History: Plucked from time, at the age of sixteen, by unknown methods, just before the fateful day she was meant to find out about her superhero legacy, Callie never had time to worry about her future. She had been busy with school and learning, and enjoying, what it was like to be a superhero. And despite the unusual circumstances, the extended Raven Family accepted her as one of her own, especially warmly considering their reputation as being cool brooding loners. But she wanted to find out exactly who she was, as opposed to her "future" duplicate, so after graduating Callie took a couple of years to go and find herself, putting aside the Madame Raven identity. Leaving Claremont Callie decided to spend the next couple of years wandering the world. Backpacking and relying on her wits and skills, she got to spend a few months in various communities helping before moving on to a new country, city and new issues. She also found various experts in various fields to learn what she could, in return for helping them out whenever she could. After that fact, she arranged for those who needed it to gain a healthy donation from the Summers Foundation. As well as finding herself she wanted to find both who, and more importantly why, she was bought into the "future" as well as find her grandfather, the infamous supervillain Dr Sin. She finally found him, or at least appeared to be, in Singapore. Though brief, and uncomfortable, he imparted to her what he figured out about her. She wasn't from the past, or a parallel Earth, but a reflection of a potential past. Whilst she doesn't quite understand how such a thing could happen, or who would do a thing, but it was at least a possible lead to follow and there was really only one place to get the help dealing with such esoteric sciences. So she's returned to Freedom City, finally adopting the identity of Callie Sen as the CEO of Summers Advanced Dynamics. Now settled in she's reached out to various superheroic scientific organizations, including the Atom Academy, to help finally answer how she came to be, if necessarily helping out in kind... Personality & Motivation: Whilst tempered by her years since leaving Claremont she still enjoys being a hero and how she uses her knowledge and money to help those less fortunate than herself. It's just now she cloaks it more in a layer of cynicism, though a wicked sense of humour pokes through now and again. Whilst the Ravens have a reputation for being loners Callie is quite the opposite enjoying the company of others, it helps that she has a naturally relaxed charm that allows her to get along with most people. And whilst she doesn't know why she's here, she knows exactly who she is and what she wants. She's comfortable in her skin and her place in the mundane and superhero world. Powers & Tactics: With no powers, Callie has to rely on her physical training, the environment around them and the gadgets and weapons available to her. If possible she likes to bring gadgets suitable for the foe(s) she's facing, though her training allows her to improvise against foes she knows little to nothing about. Ideally, Callie prefers to use either stealth and/or psychology to take down a foe without having to fight them. Often villains tend to be a cowardly and suspicious lot. Power Descriptions: Callie through years of training, at both Claremont and some of the best experts in the world, is at the almost peak of human ability, both physically and mentally. Her experience, however brief, allows her to go toe to toe with superpowered individuals much beyond her abilities. Though she knows when it's time to get help from some of the city's heavy hitters. Complications: A Congress of Ravens: Callie has been accepted as a member of the Raven family, which comes with certain responsibilities to the extended family when needed. A Conspiracy of Raven: Though she knows she's not from the past of a parallel universe there's still a mystery of what exactly she is, and that someone made this happen. A Murder of Ravens: Over the years the Raven family have gained a number of enemies over the years. Eyes: Blonde Hair: Blue Jay stands at 5'9'' and weighs 160 lbs, with a slim runner's physique. He has long since given up on trying to tame his blonde hair, which will invariably be a mess after he has moved at super speed, usually appearing slicked back from the wind. Jay prefers shorts and t-shirts, clothes tight enough that they won't restrict him when he's running. He almost always wears running shoes. At Atom Academy, he wears the stand blue, black and white uniform, with blue pants and white boots and gloves with black trim, a white belt with an Atom logo, and blue shirt with black left arm and side, with the tri-colored Atom logo in a white circle on the left side of his chest, divided equally between the blue and black parts of the uniform. On Jay's uniform, the logo have been altered slightly, adding a black rocket between the red, yellow and blue rings of the Atom logo. He wears a pair of pale blue googles that feed him information and acts as a communicator. When acting outside of Atom Academy, Jay tends to wear an orange and yellow suit designed by his uncle Johnny. The orange suit leaves his arms, neck and face bare, but covers the rest, with a yellow line running from his shoulders and down his chest and upper body, before connecting at his waist. He sports a yellow rocket logo on his chest, while he wears specially designed orange running boots with yellow soles and details. He still wears the same pale blue googles. HISTORY Jason Jake Wade was part of a heroic legacy even before he was born. While father David Ross was, as he would often say himself, a nobody, his mother Jill was the granddaughter of the original Johnny Rocket and the sister of the second Johnny Rocket. While never exhibiting any powers herself, Jill would often tell Jay stories of his heroic relatives, of their exploits and victories. Jay practically grew to worship his great-grandfather and uncle, and he would always look forward to their visits. Uncle Johnny was soon his favorite person in the world. Jay was a bright kid. Maybe a bit too bright. He was several grades ahead in school at the least, studying advanced topics even as a child. David, always having had difficulty connecting with his son, started spending less and less time at home. He would be gone for days, further straining his relationship not just with Jay, but with his girlfriend Jill. Eventually, Jill disappeared along with David. Jay was taken in by uncle Johnny and his boyfriend Chris while they searched for his missing parents. Months later, as Johnny fought one of his recurring foes, a speedster that called himself the Speed Freak. Always able to escape, Speed Freak had brought a super fast woman to help him as he and Johnny had clashed several times over the past few months. Finally, Johnny won and unmasked Speed Freak and his accomplice... and found David and Jill! As they soon learned, David had grown to resent at first Johnny and the rest of the Wade family, and later his own son. He had used Zoom to become fast enough to fight Johnny for years. Finally reaching his break points months earlier, he had kidnapped Jill and drugged her into a state where she would help him in his fights against Johnny. In his delusions, he believed that he was saving Jill from her brother and their evil child. David was sent to prison, while Jill, damaged in both body and mind from the ordeal, were given all the help that Johnny's considerable resources could provide. With David behinds bars and Jill unable to take care of Jay, uncle Johnny was appointed as his official guardian. Jay was happy with Johnny and Chris, who made sure he could visit his mother as often as possible. Any visit to his father ended in failure, until they, at last, agreed to stop. Johnny and Chris' nurtured Jay to learn all that he could, helping him grow into a bright young man well on his way to a promising academic career. He had his pick of colleges, but decided to take his time to decide. Near the end of 2019, David escaped, rampaging across the world to find Jill. Johnny sought to stop him, and they finally clashed outside Johnny's home in Freedom City. Seeing his father and uncle fighting triggered something in Jay. Suddenly, he moved as fast as Johnny, if not even faster! The powers inherited from the first Johnny Rocket might have skipped Jay's mother, but soon he was moving at rocket speed! Together, they defeated David, sending him back behind bars. Jay spent most of 2020 learning how to control his speed from Johnny. He took name Rocket, continuing the family tradition. Near the end of year he received an invitation to attend the soon-to-open Atom Academy. PERSONALITY & MOTIVATION Despite the whole situation with his parents, Jay is a generally happy, if slightly awkward, young man. He is highly intelligent, even considered gifted. He is naturally curious, though also cautious. Despite the stereotype for speedsters, he is not a "run in without a plan" type, and instead likes to take his time. Of course, for Jay that still means moving in much quicker than almost anyone else. Since joining Atom Academy he has found a love of exploration. He will often spend his private time exploring across the world or learning new subjects. Jay is not content to simply use his powers as they are, instead being determined to explore the full extent of what he can do and how. Jay has developed a habit of pushing bad thoughts away rather than deal with them, if at all possible, and as such he has a lot unresolved feelings about his father and the things he did as Speed Freak, including what he put Jay's mother through. Despite it all, he has some good memories of his father, leaving him rather conflicted. He makes sure to visit his mother whenever possible. POWERS & TACTICS All of Jay's powers revolves around speed and how he uses it. He rarely stands still, using everything he can to try to end a conflict. Jay tends to be creative in the use of his powers, finding new uses or utilizing his surroundings and technology to aid him, such as by using high tech tools to entrap his targets at incredible speeds, or simply moving debris on top of them to trap them, or using his speed to generate wind, fire or static electricity. Jay is curious, and likes to learn more about enemies he fights: Why they do what they do, how they do it, and how he can help them. He will rarely go all out and attack just to end a fight quickly, unless civilians somehow end up in danger. POWER DESCRIPTIONS Jay has inherited his great-grandfather's super speed, seemingly passed down as a genetic ability in the Wade family, as shown by Jay's uncle Johnny's powers. Though his great-grandfather gained his powers when he was splashed with experimental rocket fuel, Jay believes there might be more to it, though he has found little evidence of his theory. Jay is, to put it simply, able to move at super speed. His his body, his thoughts, his reflexes, everything happens faster, while not affecting his aging. While he needs to eat and drink more than a normal man, it is nowhere near the levels that would be expected for his abilities. By moving fast enough, Jay can run on walls or water, vibrate through walls or move so fast that he can't be seen. He is able to quickly use his momentum and relative speeds to hit with incredible force, build up static electricity to throw lightning, create fire or powerful gusts of wind. COMPLICATIONS Jay Rocket: Jay doesn't have a secret identity. With his uncle's identity being public, it wouldn't exactly be difficult for the press to figure him out, so he simply didn't bother. If Jay's lack of a secret identity complicates a situation, such as him turned away due to being a known hero, being more easily recognized or having friends and loved ones targeted by villains, the GM can award him a Hero Point. Not Johnny Rocket: Jay is well aware that he will probably always be in his great-grandfather and uncle's shadow. While he loves his uncle dearly, this also means that a lot of people expect him to be just like his uncle and great-grandfather when they started out as heroes, an impulsive hothead often in over his head. While Jay doesn't resent his predecessors for this, he might react harshly if others bring this up. If Jay's reaction to being compared to his predecessors complicates a situation, the GM can award him a Hero Point. Rocket's Rogues: While Jay has had little time to make enemies of his own, enemies of his uncle Johnny, or even particularly long-lived foes of his great-grandfather, might try to attack him for his predecessor's action. His own father, who goes by Speed Freak, might even seek him out to make him pay for his perceived slights. Since Jay joined the Atom Academy, he has only added more potential enemies, potentially becoming the target of the Atom Family's enemies. The GM can award Jay a Hero Point if his presence in a thread might bring unwanted complication if a potential foe seeks him out, further complicating a situation. Speed Freak: Jay has some very conflicted feelings about his father, who eventually turned to villainy and forced his mother into the same, requiring her to stay in a care center even almost a decade later. The GM can award Jay a Hero Point if any powers or scenes uses Jay's feelings of his father's, potentially making Jay automatically fail against the effect. Too Fast: Despite his apparent mastery of his speed, Jay is still learning how to use his powers, and he likes to experiment with them. Not everything he does is going to work. The GM can award Jay a Hero Point if they make one of his creative uses of the Variable Descriptor from the Rocket Speed Array backfire or just not work, or if his speed simple proves to be too much in a given situation. Why's and How's: Rocket is not just interested in fighting bad guys. He wants to know why and how. Why do the bad guy attack people? Can they talk him out of it and get him to stop? How does the super science gun works? Can they take it apart and use it for good? The GM can give Jay a reason to not just attack, but study an enemy, giving him pause for long enough to cause potential complications, giving him a Hero Point in return. 11. ROCKET Atomic Tower, Midtown, Freedom City Early March 2021 The Atomic Tower towered in the Freedom City skyline. After its recent expansion, it seemed almost like it stretched into the clouds, which it just might do. A modern marvel of super science, it held the newly opened Atom Academy, the Atom Family's newest gift to the city, inviting scientists, explorers, heroes and just curious regular people to join, to explore everything and anything! Jay was late. Of course he was late. You'd think having super speed would have helped with that, but no. It just meant he had more time to do a ton of things and forget about appointments. He was a streak of black and grey moving through the city, running and rushing past everything. Black pants, running shoes, a grey jacket, currently hanging open to reveal his favorite white T-Shirt with a big black rocket on the front until. He finally came to a stop right in front of Atomic Tower, a gust of wind catching up to him, his blonde hair a mess from the run as he stumbled a step or two to regain his footing and almost tumbled into the woman that was standing there before catching himself and moving around her in the blink of an eye. "Sorry, sorry! Stopping's not always easy!"

  13. Doctor Evol Power Level: 12 (Built as PL10; 180/180PP) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: -2/+2 Toughness and Defense In Brief: Personal-range biokinetic using powers they gave themselves accidentally looking to be a hero. Catchphrase: "It's short for Evolution for pity's sake!" "Pronounce the o! Stop calling me Doctor Evil!" "Calling me Biohazard isn't better!" Theme: Alternate Identity: Biohazard (Nickname), Doctor Evolution (Full Hero Name), Eveline Evans (Secret) Birthplace: Freedom City Residence: Atom Academy Occupation: Mad Scientist Affiliations: Atom Academy Family: Alexandra Evans (Mother), Ian Evans (Father), Eric Evans (Brother), Aaron Evans (Brother), Isabel Evans (Sister) Description: Age: 20 (DoB: 9th September 2000) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5'1" Weight: 135lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown When she isn't using her powers to change things in bizarre ways, this young woman is quite attractive. She has high, prominent cheekbones, a pointed chin and large eyes giving her an elfin appearance to match her short stature. Atop her head is a birds nest of unkempt brown hair most of the time as she only sometimes bothers to brush it, even less so now that she needn't worry about split ends and tangles. When around the Atom Academy or out as Doctor Evol she wears the Atom Academy uniform under a large lab coat. As a civilian, provided she remembers to change her clothing, she dresses casually most of the time with little distinct style outside of practicality, tending towards steel toe boots, cargo pants and t-shirts. Picture courtesy of RocketLord! History: Eveline was always gifted with intelligence, enough to be considered a superpower. She excelled in her studies well beyond her age, finding that her true passion lay in Life Sciences, biology, biochemistry, zoology and everything in between. Nothing could stop her from relentlessly absorbing all of the information she could about the natural world and how it worked, and quickly she began experimenting in biological and chemical Supertech, building a lab in her family's basement. She created a net gun that creates its own ammunition and pheromones to calm the mind. She met success frequently causing her to reach further and further until her overconfidence backfired. While mixing chemicals she triggered an explosion, rocking the house and sending herself flying across the room covered in the mixing residues of dozens of experiments. She knew by rights the accident should have killed her but instead she knew it had given her the power of self range biokinesis, complete control over every part of her body. Quickly she focused on pulling herself together to heal her injuries. Her parents found her like that, coming rushing down after the explosion. She quickly reassured them that she would be alright, that she'd gained powers in the accident that would let her survive. Needless to say that after they got over their concern and shock, they were not impressed at her nearly blowing up the family home. They required that she find somewhere safe to perform experiments, preferably with supervision. Enter the Atom Academy. Eveline heard the news that the think tank of super-geniuses was forming and was immediately champing at the bit to sign up, and did so as soon as it was possible under the name Doctor Evolution. Personality & Motivation: Eveline focuses on her passions to an extreme, often pursuing them to the detriment of everything else, including her health. Outside of that, she has a sense of humour and while she will never admit it doesn't mind getting ribbed for being called 'Doctor Evil' or hearing jokes about the time she nearly blew herself up. She wants to help others where possible and tries to make inventions that allow her to do so. Powers & Tactics: Eveline is intelligent and has access to a nearly limitless list of abilities due to her biokinesis and her incredible knowledge of the Life Sciences. From the ability to survive in the harshest climates known to man, expand her sensory abilities and even the ability to fly incredibly long distances or extremely fast for a short and exhausting period of time. One of the primary uses she has for her powers is to modify her body to make it more durable. When it comes to combat she uses an array of abilities from simple claws to clouds of pheromones and bursts of bioluminescent light. Power Descriptions: Eveline’s biokinesis allows her a dizzying variety of powers. As long as she can work out how to do it with her biology she can do it, whether it’s generating electricity or even making a biological jet engine the only limit is whether she can work out a way to do it, for which her super intelligence and incredible skill at the Life Sciences helps. Complications: Hunger strike: Eveline’s powers use a lot of energy as she literally reconfigures her body to perform different activities. This means that she has to eat large quantities of food to keep her body running, despite having tucked away some extra mass to use for this. This issue is compounded by her habit of forgetting to eat as she loses herself in her work. The GM can have her reconfiguring her Variable Biology fail due to having exhausted her stores of energy. She will then be stuck in her previous configuration until she finds enough food to replenish them. Not all Doctors are supervillains!: Doctor Evolution or Doctor Evol for short does not sound like the name of a hero. This can cause issues as people may assume that this ‘Doctor Evil’ is a supervillain and respond accordingly. The GM may have people who hear her name assume she’s a supervillain. Even if she is working with other heroes the assumption may be that it is an ‘enemy of my enemy’ situation. This may cause them to be reticent or downright unhelpful towards her. Oh, look at it! It’s doing a threat display!: Eveline’s fascination with Life Sciences can get her into trouble as she stops to make observations and take notes where she should probably be running away or preparing for a fight. The GM may skip Eveline’s first action in an encounter with interesting or rare creatures as she catalogues the creature’s biology and actions. 14. Gather Information DC10: Rocket debuted in late 2019. He was seen occasionally in 2020, being officially introduced to the world by Johnny Rocket II in May of that year. He has joined the Atom Academy as one of the initial members in early 2021. DC15: Rocket's real name is Jason 'Jay' Jacob Wade, the nephew of Johnny Rocket II and great-grandchild of Johnny Rocket I. He has been living with his uncles since 2010. DC20: Rocket's father is David Ross, the villainous Speed Freak, one of Johnny Rocket II's recurring foes. He is currently incarcerated. DC25: Rocket's mother was briefly drugged by his father and aided him in his crimes. Since she was saved in 2010 she has remained in rehabilitation since then. Rocket doesn't like to talk about it. Knowledge: Popular Culture DC10: Like his uncle, Rocket actively stands up for LBGT+ rights. DC15: Rocket is an inventor and would-be scientist. He's not just using his speed for heroics, but advanced inventions as well. DC20: Who is the fastest speedster? Not Rocket, but he might just be faster than his uncle Johnny! Knowledge: Physical Sciences DC15: Johnny Rocket I's powers came from being soaked in experimental rocket fuel, which was somehow passed on to his grandchild Johnny Rocket II and great-grandchild Rocket. DC20: Rocket's speed is not quite physics breaking, but they don't seem to quite follow the regular rules of physics either! It's weird!
