  1. Rita Kord Dormitories, Third Floor Claremont Academy, Freedom City, New Jersey Saturday, September 7, 2024 Although it was a rather cloudy day, the weather was warm and pleasant in Bayview Heights. Once again the start of another school year was drawing near, with classes starting in just a couple days. As was tradition, this mean that the Claremont Academy campus was a scene of general chaos as students and their families made their way to the school’s dormitories to get the students moved in for the year. Two of the older students tasked with trying to maintain some semblance of order for the third floor of the Kord dormitory were Carmen Arrache and Iris Miller. A sixteen-year-old girl exited one the stairwell at the west end of the floor, pulling behind her a large suitcase with one hand, while the other held a violin case. Lynn Conners had her long blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail and was dressed in a navy blue skit and a white button up blouse. She tried her best to have something of neutral expression on her face as she started down the hallway toward the room she would be sharing with Mattie Hopper for the year. The blonde teen could have already been to her room if she had wanted to, but did not want to so openly use her speed (she would save that for putting things away in her room). Instead, she had taken the time walking from the parking lot to try to calm herself after the ride from North Bay with her adopted brother. Lawrence Harrow reminded her so much of her own brother (although some of his mannerism and accent were completely different) that being around him too long often triggered memories of what had happened that lead to her barely escaping her own timeline and eventually ending up in this one. Thankfully she was feeling a bit better at the moment, the last thing she wanted was to have a nervous breakdown the first day at Claremont.
  2. Midtown Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday October 8, 2024. 4:45 PM The members of Red Team had been on a field trip to Freedom City University to attend a lecture on campus. After the lecture, they had returned to the school van for the trip back to Claremont Academy. Apparently, something had caused a major traffic jam on State Route 6, so the driver had tried to take them through downtown over to State Route 4. While the plan had initially worked reasonably well (even with the normal early rush-hour traffic), they were in the heart of Midtown when traffic became totally gridlocked and they had come to a complete halt. It had not taken the students long to learn the cause. The police had blocked off the street a few blocks away in response to a bank robbery that was underway. Apparently there was something else taking place in the city that had the attention of most of the police and some of the city's heroes, so there were not enough resources to respond to the bank robbery right away. After a brief call back to campus, the Headmistress had given the students permission to intervene and assist the police. So they had exited the bus and made their way to where the police blockade was set up. While the officers had initially been a bit skeptical about a bunch of teenage superheroes intervening, they had quickly realized there were not a lot of other options at the moment. The officers provided the Claremont students with what little information they had. Apparently there were about 10 or so armed men in ski masks who were being lead by Wildcard from the Crime League. They had taken several hostages in the Freedom City Trust building, an old, two story stone structure that dated back to at least World War II. It was a strong, sturdy building, with a large lobby area on the main floor and an open atrium to a balcony on the second floor around which were various office and conference rooms.
  3. GM 10:20am Sunday the 15th of September ~1 hour drive South-West of Freedom City Two days ago, in a small abandoned church a short ways out from Freedom City, something was caught on camera by a pair of hikers. A gout of fire and smoke, stinking of ash and brimstone appeared in the center of the old building, while the sky turned red. The event lasted for a few minutes, shadows twisting into macabre shapes in the firelight. Eventually the flames died down, revealing a stone staircase, descending into the earth, dimly lit by flickering candles. The pair, Freedom City natives both, finished their hike as if nothing particularly interesting had happened before informing the police. The area was then condoned off, the perimeter catching one of the first escapees from the earth, a small red demon that threw insults and small motes of fire at the officers of the law, who, used to such occurrences, took the wee beast into custody. Questioning the imp revealed that the newly opened stairway led to a structure known as the 'Profanum Profanorum', and that he was merely the first of many invaders, larger and more powerful, with better insults too. Initial attempts to search the structure with drones quickly met fierce resistance, and so the police put forth the call to their fair city: Plumb the depths of this malevolent edifice, and stop the plans of whatever villain had created it.

  6. Sunday February 18, 2024 Late afternoon After over a day and a half of fun in the water and sun at the Harrow estate on Wakaya Island, Fiji (in addition to some more serious topics), it was unfortunately time for the Claremont Academy students to return back to Freedom City for the start of the next school week. After about an hour or so of chaos, everyone was eventually gathered back on the large deck at the back of the main house for Lawrence Harrow to teleport them all back to campus. As the group of teens stepped into the temporal portal Lawrence created once again, they initially felt a similar sensation to what they had the day before when transported to the South Pacific. But suddenly, rather than stepping out the other side of the portal back at the Main Quad at Claremont, the teens felt as if something tugged on them, causing each to stumble forward and as the world reformed around them and they were not at Claremont Academy. Bernadette O'Connell, Neko Musume, Owain Celliwig, Rosalinda Sommaripa, Jonah Janse, Carmen Alvarez Arrache and Iris and Daniel Evans found themselves along the waterfront of the Boardwalk, just near the Paradise casino. Around them were several people, all of whom acted very surprised at the sudden appearance of the teens, some screaming in panic and running, while others just began moving away quickly. The teens were still in the clothes they had been wearing, but all the rest of their bags and other things were nowhere to be seen. The sun was just coming into view off to the east, but the weather was far warmer than it should have been for an early morning in February for Freedom City. "What ta bloody hell." Bernadette stated as she reoriented herself to the unexpected location the group found themselves in. Glancing around, she scowled. "Where are the others?" The Irish redhead was wearing a pair of torn black jeans and a grey hoodie, in anticipation of ending up back up in the winter weather back in Freedom City. But her scowl was quickly replaced by a look of surprise as she looked out at the skyline of downtown Freedom City. It was clearly Freedom City, only the skyline was very different than the teens were used to. Several prominent more modern buildings were not there. And glancing down the east, the massive Sentry Statute was nowhere to be seen. "Oh, bugger us." Bernadette muttered as she looked out at the very different city skyline.
  7. GM 3:30 PM, Friday April 12th, 2024 City Center, Freedom City Powers Holdings Office Building It started innocently enough. Parker had been to a family dinner, his family had asked him about his friends and students, and he had mentioned a few of them. When he mentioned Iris and Daniel and their telepathic powers, Tracy, his older sister, had perked up and asked more about them, how powerful they were and so on. Apparently, one of the R&D teams under her is working on a device that should, hopefully, be able to expand the scope of telepathic powers, potentially allowing a telepath to aid rescue efforts in a much wider area in terms of catastrophes. So... Parker had asked Iris and Daniel to come with him, explaining things as well as he could, and when Michael had overheard, Parker invited him along as well. The weather is nice for mid-April, as the group exits the car that had been sent to get them once classes were over for the day, once it has stopped in front of the Powers Holdings office building in Midtown. The building doesn't particularly stand out. Sure, it is tall, but so are most of the buildings in midtown, and the area is dominated by Freedom Hall, City Hall and the DuTemps Building, so, it doesn't particularly stand out. Still, there is a big POWERS HOLDINGS INC. name plate over the revolving glass doors, and on the window next to them, the large P with an explosion inside the upper part of the letter that makes up the Powers Holdings logo, which makes it easy to identify the building, at least.

  9. Early March, 2024 A Plateau in South America. There are worlds beyond ours; not just in space, but in alternate dimensions. Some are the same as ours, or almost. Some are radically different. Some are well known, others are not. But even the most similar world can become a world of danger and uncertainty with the shifting of tides, with the changing of seasons, with the intervention of others. The plateau was HOT. It was winter in New Jersey, but in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed; which meant it was the middle of summer on the high, raised plateau where the Claremont students assigned as the 'Red Team' were meeting up. They had been flown in to a private, hidden airstrip managed by the school, and were now standing on a high plateau covered in jungle near a large mountain. The only other people on the plataeu were guards working on a pop up metal building; a bit like park rangers or arctic researchers, who spent 8+ months doing light scientific work and keeping people from accidentally wandering into a place they shouldn't be, then went home for 8 months while a different team took over. It was a very minimum style of security, the kind you can do when you're in one of the most remote areas known to man. Miriam Francesca Luisa Juarez, Iris and Daniel Evans, and Lawrence Harrow had been assigned to Neko Musume's Claremont squad; It had been given the name 'Red Squad', and under Neko's watchful guidance, the group of Sophmores was expected to perform exceptionally well. This assignment was supposed to be a team-building camping exercise with a twist; instead of camping out in Wharton State Park, they were- supposedly- going to an entirely different dimension! There they could be free to also work on their powers and practice against unique targets, while also having challenges a bit tougher than what you might find in Wharton. All their camping gear had been prepared for them, with the guards checking packs and weighing them; they were free to bring their own items as well, but tents and canteens and water purification bottles were provided. "Your escort should be here soon...provided she hasn't forgotten." One of the guards said as they finished handing out the camping packs. That left the students enough time to finish their own check, maybe talk a little, and prepare for...wherever they were going. They went back to their nice air-conditioned building with it's power, and left the group in the humid jungle, waiting for whatever escort was supposed to come and take them to...wherever this transition occurred.

March 13th, 2024 Claremont Academy, students residence Golden Star had booted up his Nintendo 64. It was supposedly cursed. But Blackstaff had sorted that out. Probably. And probably was surely good enough. The psychic twins Cerebral and Cerebrum had stuck their head in through the door to see what was going on. The Nintendo fizzed when plugged in, and flickered half the lights of the students residence. Booting up? What was booting up? It was taking its damn time that was for sure. As it loaded (at a relatively glacial pace), the machine displayed pixellated art: Of machine guns, of evil villains in evil costumes, of lightning bolts, of dark towers with screaming damsels in distress at the top, of a city ruined by warfare, awash with tanks and mines. It all looked very archiac, and very violent. In a quaint way. The images had a certain... hypnotic... quality to them. It was hard to drag your eyes away from the screen, despite (or maybe because) of the antique pixel graphics...

  12. Claremont Academy, Jasmin Summer Administrative Building Freedom City, New Jersey February 1, 2024, 9:00 AM Callie Summers, the headmistress of Claremont Academy led Iris and Daniel Evans into the main entryway of the administrative building after her meeting with the twins for their first day at the institution. The headmistress had surprised the twins by reveling that she was fully aware of their criminal background, while making it clear that she was more than willing to allow them to make a fresh start at the school. The headmistress promised they would be treated no different than any of the other students, noting nothing they were hardly the first metahuman teens to come to the school with a questionable or even criminal past. The twins found another individual waiting for them when they arrived in the building’s main entrance, a tall, attractive teenage girl who appeared to be about eighteen. She had long red hair, bright green eyes and was dressed in a pair of jeans, a light grey sweater and a winter jacket. "Mr. Evans, Ms. Evans, this is one of our Seniors, Bernadette O'Connell." Headmistress Summers said in greeting as she indicated the tall redhead. "I will leave you in her care to ensure everything is in order for your first day." She gave the twins a small smile, then a nod to Bernadette and made her way back toward her office. "Hi, Iris an' Daniel right?" The redhead said with a smile, an Irish accent very evident as she spoke. "As the headmistress said, I'm here ta give you a tour o’ campus an' help you get settled in."
  13. Cerebral Power Level: 9 (165/174 pp) Unspent Power Points: 9 Trade-Offs: ±X Attack / ±X Damage, ±X Defense / ±X Toughness In Brief: Psychic Twin, an orphan who was picked up off the streets by a supervillain and turned into a super criminal. After a heist was stopped by a superhero, she would flee to Freedom city and try to start a new life. Catchphrase: “Do we seriously need a catchphrase?” Theme: None Alternate Identity: Iris Evans (Secret Identity) Birthplace: Emerald City Residence: Claremout Academy Base of Operations: N/A Occupation: Student Affiliations: Daniel, Claremout Academy Family: Has a twin brother named Daniel, her parents are unknown. Description: Age: 16 Born on March 2008 Apparent Age: 16 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’4 Weight: 125 Ibs Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown (short but a bit curly) Description: A young woman with blue eyes and short brown hair. She’s a bit on the skinny side however. Normally she wears jeans, running shoes and a shirt. She is fit and very much a tomboy. Her superhero outfit is a simple dark purple onepiece, full body suit (save for the face) with a black collar and an emblem of a brain on a black circle in the centre of her chest. She also wears a black mask that covers her eyes and nose. She also wears black elbow long gloves and boots. History: Daniel and Iris were born in a poorer area of Emerald city, with their parents being unable to care for them and as such the twins were discarded. They were forced to survive on the streets, Iris grew to become quite protective of Daniel during this time and it was them against the world. However, when they were around thirteen the supervillain known as The Big Brain kidnapped them along with other orphans in an attempt to create super criminals, and hopefully find a new container for him should his body die. However, such a thing would require strong mental capabilities. So, for the moment he would set the children up as criminals. He experimented on the twins, giving them psychic powers and training them to become one of these super criminals. They would spend the next three years training to understand their powers and use them in heists. During one of these heists a superhero would show up to stop them. While the twins grew up slightly stunted emotionally, they were not emotionless and the hope they saw on their captive’s eyes when the superhero showed up seemed to spark something inside Daniel. Iris would slowly come to understand why. He wanted, deep down, to save people. Having hated his life under The Big Brain. Iris would understand, she failed to spot this in her twin sooner, and that weighs on her somewhat. But during the failed Heist, all she could think about was escape and in the chaos of battle, the twins fled. They would ditch their villainous personas (Stem for Iris and Corpex for Daniel) before going on the run. Eventually they would find their way to Freedom City and took odd jobs to gain enough capital to rent an Apartment in the Fens. One day, while out looking for another job, Iris would notice someone getting robbed and would use her powers to save the person…whom happened to be a teacher, Darian Skylar, whom was impressed enough by the display, not that he was in any real danger, and learned a bit about Iris and her brother, recommending them to Claremout Academy. Where they would be provided with scholarships under the watchful eye of the Headmistress who is the only person who knows about their past. Personality & Motivation: Iris gives off the appearance of someone cold and aloof but that’s just a front. She is hyper aware and always on the look out for dangers. She cares about her brother deeply and is extremely defensive of him. Despite these rather intense traits, she can be snarky as well. With all this being said, Iris has had a troubled history, this has stunted her understanding of herself and her desires. She does want to become a hero and make up for her past crimes, but she also wants to soul search as well. She has yet to fully understand her desire to help people…and her attraction to the same sex. Powers & Tactics: Iris is a textbook Psychic. Telepathy, Telekinesis, Mind Shielding and Mind Blasts. She is fit and capable physically but no where near levels of superhuman, just slightly above average. Typically, Iris likes to think through plans and ideas before executing them, taking time to understand her surroundings and her enemies before attacking. She is very much a thinker in this regard. Power Descriptions: Her psychic abilities manifest via slightly purple energy, mostly her Mind Blasts and Telekinesis. The rest of her abilities are less detectable visually as benefitting someone with psychic abilities. Complications: Two Peas in a Pod: Iris is protective of Daniel and when he’s in trouble, she tends to tunnel vision on saving him. Should her twin be in threatened in a significant way. Mechanically this only activates if Daniel has been kidnapped or something major has happened to him, and she is not with him. Smaller threats and fights won’t trigger it. GMs can also decide if HPs are awarded for this or not. Enemies: The Big Brain created and used Iris and Daniel, despite the fact that they have escaped his shadow still haunts them. Should he or his goons show up to mess with them then a Hero Point is awarded. On the Run: The twins were criminals once, should this be found out and they have to clear their names, then a HP can be awarded. Paranoia: Iris can be quite paranoid when it comes to her brother or friends doing something dangerous. If she sees a friend doing something she percieves as dangerous and overracts, then a HP can be awarded.
