The sudden appearance of Etain in the small alleyway in downtown Hong Kong wasn't loud enough for there to be much noticed. Though Etain noticed immediately that it was MUCH smaller than she anticipated. She had landed sideways and had to squeeze along a bit uncomfortably around the chest but managed to get out dusting off her shawl as she did and arranging her skirt which she was graceful in this case at least didn't have a thick petticoat. Letting out a sigh she adjusted a pair of perfectly round brass framed glasses that sat on her nose and set the matching hat back straight as she found her way to the front of the thing. This was roughly the area she was said to look for before. Pulling her phone out from her purse she absently began to push through the screen with her thumb as she moved along the alley. She had to sniff for a few seconds. It smelled, more stuffy than most cities she was used too. Plus, she couldn't exactly speak the language. Not that it mattered, she just had to get some local currency if she wanted to ask that way, or she could just try to track magic activity in the area she supposed. Either way, she didn't think it would be easy to find the point where this plain touched what the one she was looking for, but she would certainly try regardless. So she started her search immediately. A few hours later. The small bar must of been ripe with what the Chinese considered gang members, not that Etain could tell with what they were chatting about. She might of asked Morgan for a translating rune, but he had locked himself away again on an experiment she was half certain would either turn him a strange color or temporarily render his arm insubstancial before it fell off. It was times like these she wished he'd let her help more. Anyway, it was much smokier than the outside and she sat at the bar talking with the bartender who knew maybe a little bit of English, but not actually enough to be more useful than ordering her drink. What was the drinking law in China again? She was pretty certain it was more lenient than America, but he didn't seem to care since she had currency. Either way, she knew there was magic here, even if she didn't know the chinese equivilant, well, okay, she found it, but it was still hard to explain through the dictionary ap on her phone. Really all this meant was that she needed to either be more direct, or she needed someone to help her smooth things over. It was with that thought as she took a swig of the scotch on the bar that there was a loud commotion outside that even if she couldn't see she knew was not a normal sound found in the city.

Right, Etain is looking for people with abilities in healing. The primary note for this is that she has a favor, and if you help her, she will do something back. Anyway, what she is asking for is a really hard task, but she will do just about anything she could do that's morally sound to find someone like this. This could be a series of threads or just one, but she is actively looking for the best possible healer she could find. This is also a way for Etain to be expanding contacts within the superhero community. The short version is this, she will be spending time actively seeking out heroes who might be rumored to have these abilities, if something happens like a fight, she'll assist then she'll ask about this task. Or socially, she'll ask about other heroes they know. This can be a couple of threads, because she is actively seeking out heroes in general. She knows some heroes, but it's mostly the Irregulars, some members of Young Freedom and the heroes from Parkhurst, so this should help her get around the community some more.

Saturday, March 16, 2013 2:13 AM "... I believe that is all the questions I will answer for now. I thank you for listening, this has been Etain Maher, next session I will get more in deph about the creatures I have mentioned before. Goodbye until then." Curtis leaned back on his seat as the recording finished, looking up at the ceiling murmuring to himself after just having been sidetracked from his research into fellow local magical superheros and whatnot by her blog. "Should I contact her or should I not... oh come on... you're a superhero, and superheros don't not do things. Besides you should make friends in the magical community sooner or later." He logged in to his email account and started writing an email. From: cwright42@usnet.com Subject: I do magic too Dear Etain Maher, Hey, my name is Curtis Wright and I do magic too. I have arcane talent I've inherited from my grandfather and a magic book he left me. It's mostly a very complex style of rune magic and I've been able to make very complex spells with it due to my already existing expertise in programming and computer science. (You'd be surprised at how similar programming and some styles of magic are.) Though my grandfather might have had other magic books lying around with details on verbal and somatic casting. Still haven't figured those out so I'm limited to whatever spells I make before I head out. I just thought you might like to know about other magic users in the city, since you're putting yourself out there for the world to see on your blog and on your podcast. I think as for the type of magic I use, it's technically not technomancy (not yet anyways, haven't figured it out) and I think of myself as more of an artificer, or perhaps a "program-o-mancer." Regards, Curtis Wright.

Febuary 27th, 4:38 PM Etain had to shrug off the cold as she entered the building. She might never get used to how cold this realm could get, but at least it was warm inside. It had been a little bit since she had been to the Claremont gym. The nastiness of the previous month certianly held other priorities to such thing. Still the familiarity of the place put her at ease as she set her coat on the rack. After a moment she decided to also remove the top half of her outing suit as well revealing a cream floral printed blouse underneath. She also took a second to roll up her sleeves as she looked around the gym and moved towards the nearby weapons rack. She stood in front of it and started to catalog, there hadn't been much change in it's variety, she was hoping she could try training with something new.

14 April 2012 The weather is nice today, Eve thought as she looked out across the Great Bay. It was a fleeting thought, and only a momentary distraction from the anxiety gnawing at her, for guests would be arriving soon. Eve was never one for drawing attention to herself--the few friends she had knew she preferred to be the quiet, unseen hand in the background--but there were certain things she was unable to avoid. Unavoidable, perhaps, but not immutable. By floating out an invitation to her friends and teammates, and most importantly Etain, Eve was able to neatly sidestep the preconceived notion of what an eighteenth birthday party for someone of her wealth and status should be like. Taking things into her hands would allow the Martel heiress to do things her way. That thought brought a smile to her face as she slipped back into her room then headed down the stairs, guests would be arriving soon, after all.

As the young man in the long black coat, beaten fedora and concealing sunglasses strode purposefully through Lantern Hill, it looked at first as though he would walk right by the Parkhurst Hotel, ignoring just as everyone else did. Instead, however, it seemed he was only traveling further up the street to get a better lay of the land around the apparently decrepit building before returning to its entrance. Trevor Hunter was quite so susceptible to the subtle suggestion of apathy rolling off of the building as the average person and he had taken pains to make sure he was in the right place. Without further pause, he knocked three times on the door, solid and sure.

September 25, 2011 Bayview, Freedom City Claremont Campus GM The Claremont campus was usually calm, no matter what was happening in the city. A Grue Invasion, the dead rising, squadrons of Metaceptors in the sky -- whatever it was, Summers worked hard to make sure it didn't get over the walls. However, the imminent destruction of the world wasn't something any one man could shield his charges from. He'd done the next best thing, though -- the students on teams were assigned around the city, and other students to wanted to were helping as best they could. Next-Gen was standing by at Blackstone; Young Freedom was protecting Freedom Hall while the League was busy elsewhere; the Alterniteens were keeping an eye on the Lab while the city's super-geniuses enacted their plan; and the Irregulars were holding the fort at Claremont. At the moment they were assembled in the zen garden, looking for a last moment of peace before the storm broke. The uneasy silence was broken by the sound of heavy, clomping boots on the path. Glowstar looked up to see a slim man wearing a black and white jersey shirt, loose slacks spilling over heavy boots. The new arrival took his headphones off an hung them around his neck, waving to the Irregulars. "Hey guys. Summers though you might need a little extra muscle, so." Christopher Beck slammed his fists together, and in a flash of light Megastar was standing there, towering over the group. "He called in the alumni. Cool, right?"

GM May 19th, 6:37pm News had been slow to travel, but it didn't matter, there was still time. The prey was shopping, moving around the mortals like she was one of them. Didn't matter, she could move as she pleased, however, that ritual was unacceptable. Not that she'd get to do it anyway. It was not hard to do, child's play really, something easy to replicate, simple magic. The hunter let the illusion was over him, into that of a young man, not much older than sixteen with jeans and a U2 t-shirt. Leaning out of the ally, he watched as she came into sight. The bag's strap snapped with easy, and it was a quick trip to sprint past her and down back into the alley.

October 10th (Sunday), 6:49pm Visiting hours ended at five, but the people at the hospital were always really nice about letting her stay a little later. Her chair faced the bed as she spoke softly to the sleeping boy, "You know they are having a in a few weeks, the little ones are very excited about it. I passed by and they have decorated the floor that they stay on. Apparently they are going to go around to gather sweets from all the rooms and Ms. Cynthia suggested I bring some bags to share with them." Watching his face, she looked for a response or something that seemed to show that he was listening, but there was nothing. There was no moment or sound that was his own. His breathing was light, and toned out by the beeping of the machine they had put onto his heart. His body didn't move, so the sheets around his bed were always flat and wrinkle free. But still he was still here because she was still here. She knew she was still here because her shadow loomed over his bed and became longer as the sun was setting. It was time for her to leave. Outside of the room seemed a bit of an inverse of what she had seemed. Even in a place for the sick, everyone seemed so full of life and because of the holiday they seemed to be in constant movement. Several nurses were putting up little decorations for each room, while doctors passed them with the look that they had something important to be doing. There was nobody around that was not in white, and on this hall there was no one who would walk around in those paper dresses. This was the floor where they kept people like Dimitrius, people who though they looked alive so void of any real life, and when she went down the stairs she would pass the place where there were people with no life. The idea of passing the morgue almost always made Etain's skin crawl just a little, but it was preferable to the alternative. She could not understand how humans could so easily ride in those little metal boxes. It was not a long walk, three floors perhaps of her walking directly in the middle of the stairs away from the hand rails. Getting to the bottom she used her umbrella to push the safety bar and walk quietly down the hallway to the hospitals lobby. This time, she was not alone in her walk, as she moved down she had to push herself against the wall as one of those metal beds was walked along with those plastic bags that they sometimes stored the life impaired. It was something she had seen before, though she almost always averted her eyes to the scene as they moved and she quickened her pace down the hallway. However, there was something strange. As she moved down the hallway even as they past she saw a slight trail that began just a few feet in front of her and passed, though faint at first, it was there a sort of magic she could not identify at first. It was this that made her turn full circle to see the people disappearing with the body into the morgue and the trail following it. Her eyes wide and her objective forgotten she sprinted down the hall and to the door. Catching the door before it closed she gave it a shove before screaming, "Move away, move away now!" They stared at her before a couple one of them moved towards her trying to ask what was wrong, the other however continued to unzip the bag, "No, wait, it is evil, move away." She ran past slipping from the other guys grip and shoving the worker out of the way as a hand moved out of the bag and grabbed onto her. She nearly yelped as she glanced at her, though the image of the moving copse might of scared her the aura was what did the work. She very nearly felt like she was going to be sick as she looked at the twisting horrid magic that wafted off of it as it tried to pull itself closer to her. She was almost entranced by the horror that she did not notice it pulling her hand closer to it. However when she saw it open it's mouth she came back to reality and lifted her umbrella with her other hand. Banging down hard onto it's face she hit the vile thing so it would let go, so that she could look away so that she would never have to look at it again. There was no blood splatter at the plastic umbrella started to crack from the impact and the creature kept pulling her in. The umbrella split on the still moving zombie and feeling it go limp she threw it away before the zombie reached out and grabbed her other hand. Feeling the additional cold grip she reeled and pulled backwards and took the zombie off the cart and onto the floor bring her with it. She nearly screamed again as it tried to grab onto her dress. Her free hand went into her purse and searched, searched for something. Grabbing something long and thin she pulled from her purse one of the needles Ms. Cynthia had bought her that she was supposed to use with yarn. She pulled it out and held it at it's end. The zombie was trying to pull itself out using her for leverage and as it grabbed onto the front of her dress she screamed as she plowed the pointed end of the plastic needle into it's eye. It was only then that the creature finally let go of her and that the hated magic started to fade. The watching hospital workers stared at her as she stood up and moved as far away as she could from the corpse leaning against the cool metal containers even as they stung because they could not scare her more then that horrid creature, "What the hell was that?" She looked over at him her voice strangled, "Evil"
