GM AEGIS central command, "The Iceberg", inderneath the Federal Building in Freedom City, NJ, USA.ò The infirmary. Bed 22. July 5th 2016 "Mz. Hino." Sakurako had been floating in darkness for a long time. The voices were pretty frequent, and added variety to the inchoate shapes that slid by. Sometimes they were her parents, sometimes her friends. Once, she had seen and heard Hannah looking down from some white void and whisper that she was coming for her. "Mz. Hino...time to wake up..." This time, there was the gentle tug at her shoulder. This had happened a few times before, she had woken up and gone home to her happy parents and favourite flying jellyfish with the fifteen finger puppets. Once, there had been a dog. That was weird. "Alright Turinsdottir, we do it your way. Fire her up." Then very suddenly the black void was wrenched away, Sakurako was staring out at a room drenched in red, white and blue, curtains shielding most of it from view. Next to her were two severe, military-looking women in scrubs, hair caps and face masks, one holding a silvery syringe and nonchalantly removing a cylinder of something blue. And wriggling. The other looked very apologetic. "Mz. Hino, do you feel any pain? Do you know who you are, what happened before you came here?" By now the glare was dying down, and the wet, warm feeling she'd had was revealed as submersion in some strange, greenish liquid. Instead of a normal bed, it more resembled a flattened bathtub, covered from her neck down by a pale blue plastic sheet. Her whole body felt like it had been used to beat carpets but otherwise felt fine.

One of Claremonts Many Tech Labs, Well past bedtime GM Post Claremont tended to attract the some of the best and brightest teachers from around the world. One of those was Divina Khan a engineer and technologist from the UK who whilst taught the basics seemed to be just as happy explaining the bleeding Edge technologies coming from the Atoms or Archetech. To help encourage those who technologies were of a more technological bent she’d set up a club named the Lunar Society, after some of the great industrialist and thinkers of her home in the 19th Century. As well as allowing the students to talk about idea that most students couldn’t understand she’d help arrange for the best couple of students to display their inventions at a local technological Expo. WIth some of the best technological companies sending people to the Expo it was a chance for the more senior students to get noticed and find work in their chosen fields, or for some just to prove that there ideas would work. Divina had also arrange late access for some of the Tech Lab’s so they could work on their invention out of hours, and right now sakurako was taking advantage of this arrangement.

Claremont Academy January 3, 2017 Noon, EST Sunny, 45 degrees... An Orange colored tent was up with snow embankements around it, forming a snow-fort around the international orange bubble supported by pressurized ribs in a hexagonal pattern. But this was an experiment. A project that Claremont's resident Senior super-genius was doing. She was testing how this portable habitat could work out for terrestrial research efforts in the Antarctic. She had considered installing floats on the bottom for Arctic Ocean research, but she wanted to start off with baby steps. Although with the way the snow outside was melting from the recent snowstorm... it might be a considered an option. She did consider that the market for deployable consumer-grade tents with enough creature comforts to make even the most urban outdoors enthusiast happy could be an untapped market in general. A couple panels were peeled back revealing clear plastic membrane windows, as well as generous solar panel blankets anchored into the snow drifts facing south in the open field, the winter sun of the day filtering through clouds being kicked up by a near-miss of a Nor'easter heading for the Grand Banks. Sakurako was inside, sipping on a hot cocoa, looking up some information online with her laptop, otherwise spartan arrangements were set up inside: a collapsible table, a pink inflatable chair that she was sitting on, an inflatable couch, and what looked like an electric stove. She would have been proud of installing a portable restroom, but that would create a logistical nightmare for the school. So she's had to resign herself to the fact she'd have to return to civilization periodically to take care of herself. The tent itself was providing heat, and even had a shower stall, using heated melt-water as a water supply, something Sakurako enjoyed shoveling to try to get her willowy frame stronger. She'd have to be once AEGIS calls her in to start the real training soon... That was beside the point, a new Hero she ran into, a gentleman by the name of Hammer wanted some help, some advice in terms of securing his identity and place online. And she was happy to help. She looked at her smart phone for the time. "Well, this isn't a formal business meeting, so being late is expected... particularly if he's beaten up some bad guys or is doing a rescue or something. The greater good comes first." She looked over to the airlock-like doorway, awaiting a ring of the doorbell attached outside. "Added a few upgrades from the simpler model at the storm party a couple weeks ago... Now the cold air'll stay where it belongs... outside." She said, activating some firewalls with the type of encryption that would make the NSA Jealous... and paranoid.

GM May 7th, 2016, 2.04 AM Somewhere beyond Freedom City, one mile beneath the surface To Alex, the white room stretched into forever, his body floating in a silent void. Only the sensation of the forcefields holding him in place and the faint echoes over the hidden intercom kept things from seeming wholly unreal. The stream of regular visitors kept things lively, too. "As you can see, colonel, the assimian specimen is as unharmed as their sibling." A figure materialized out of the white glare, in the same tan uniform with the same mechanically-styled "G", ventilator mask and narrow glowing eyeslits as the rest. Even the voice, muffled by the uniform, sounded as androgynous and indistinctive as the rest. This one, however, was followed by a whirring drone projecting a silhouette of a face, its features obscured by static. Regardi Alex with its implacable mechanical stare, a voice eventually crackled "Good work. You're sure he can't copy energy forms?" "Positive." Some kind of control panel slid down from the ceiling, and the figure idly checked it over, seeing nothing they did not expect to see "Only solids and possibly certain liquids can be mimicked by the subject. We'll bring them into contact with the piece of the Shard, then proceed with the other tests." "Hm. Keep them in good condition, doctor, and bring back results I can use or nothing at all. That sibling, by the way...can they be enhanced using the subject, like you told them?" The figure laughed, and the control panel vanished like a ghost into the white mist "Nothing's impossible, colonel! But some things are very, very improbable. I'll keep you informed, breaking commlink." The projected face winked out, and the buglike robot droned back into the world outside the void. The figure remained for a moment, regarding Alex as a slender piece of red crystal imprisoned in a clear pillar rose from the floor in front of the teenager. As it began moving closer to him, the figure walked out, saying aloud "Do a good job, subject 13505, and I'll open a channel to your brother's room. "Results I can use", please, like we're ASTRO Labs or something..." The crystal was uncovered, and tilted as it gently came to rest against Alex's forehead. Sakurako's cell The ceiling had four cameras, or at least four visible ones, in each corner. The door was an arrangement of thick metal held in place by a thoroughly old-fashioned forcefield. Perfectly-placed lights kept things illuminated, but allowed for sleep. Outside were thirteen other cells, all empty by the way they were ignored by the guards, who stood facing Endeavor's from the wall opposite. There were various accomodations for living beings, and a privacy screen, but nothing was hidden from the unmoving electronic eyes. "What's with the hair, mutant?" By some quirk, anything inside the cell could be heard in the corridor directly outside (they'd already teased her for snoring while sleeping off the knockout pulse) and the same inside. "Nah, I looked over Loretta's shoulder when she was doing the scan, just chemical dye." "That's no fun. So, what're they going to do with her?" "Still figuring that out. Didn't count on a third person being there when they grabbed the other two." "Long as we don't have to go back to regular duty, hope that takes 'em forever." There was a long pause, and the second guard said "Do you hate being on these memory-loss drugs as much as me?" "So very, very much. Pretty sure you asked me that exact question ten minutes ago." It was actually twenty-eight seconds ago.

July 30th, 2016 ASTRO Labs, Freedom City Lunchtime Downtown Freedom City was busy every single day. No matter what else was going on, the streets were crowded with pedestrians and cars, the weekend just meant the people were of a different flavor. The soaring towers of ASTRO Labs looked down on. Happy families and trendy teenagers thronged the streets, moving from place to place and interspersed with groups of tourists eager to experience the City of Heroes. A large group of elderly Asians with cameras around their necks lined up in front of the skyscraper, a young woman in a red pantsuit in their lead. The woman held a folded map in the air and started talking. "This is the headquarters of ASTRO Labs," she said, her voice projecting above the noise of traffic. "A world leader in scientific R&D, ASTRO Labs is proud to help Freedom City's hero population whenever a mystery is in their path!" Near the back of the group, a man in a trenchcoat lurked underneath a young tree. He chuckled when he heard to guide's pithy summation. Pretty soon ASTRO Labs was going to feel the burn from helping so many heroes.

Claremont Academy 7:00 am, Thursday, March 31st, 2016 It was a typical Thursday for Casey, classes were light as some students would be coming back home after Easter, while some had been back before hand. While the weekend itself was set up to be time off, around Easter things were allowed to be semi-flexible to the needs of their students. Casey woke up as her smartphone started ringing. She had set it in front of a stuffed animal, a cat-like cartoonish detective of a character her long-absent friend had left before going on a sabbatical with her Family. It was only to be three months, but it had been left open-ended... and Sakurako had been gone longer than that... and without contact the whole time. What was odd is it came from an unusual e-mail address in a text. MG. Meet me at 4pm, courtyard. Bring something to keep you dry, there's a forecast of light rain in the area... 01110011 01100001 01101011 01110101 01110010 01100001 01101011 01101111

Silberman's Books. Saturday, October 31st, 2015, from the Crack of Dawn to the Witching Hour. Originally Lynn was going to give Halloween a pass this year; not that she wasn't going to observe her favorite non-Jewish holiday (yes, she liked it even better than Thanksgiving), but she wasn't going to do anything special beyond having candy for trick or treaters and maybe conjuring up a few decorations. School was taking up more of her time, and since Gretchen had become her personal crime-fighting assistant she was actively hitting the streets again. In addition, last year's Pier 13/Autumn Court incident took a little wind out of her sails, and she still felt bad about how she'd treated Tona at last year's Halloween party. So this year, she planned to keep it low key. That is, until her sidekick saw how pitiful she'd looked all week, what with the sighing and the longing looks at every jack o' lantern or cardboard cut-out of Frankenstein's Monster taped to a window. She hated to see her normally effervescent boss all mopey like this, so she made a decision and confronted her. "We are doing a haunted house on Halloween, right here in the store," she'd insisted. "And you are going to be scary and inappropriately cheerful and have a great time." And that was that. Shaken from her funk, Lynn really went to town, staying up half the night on Friday to cover the place in cobwebs, skeletons and other ghoulish paraphernalia. Gretchen tweaked the store's sound system and ran cables out into the yard so she could set up hidden speakers in the spooky mini-labyrinth her boss had conjured between the back of the building and the carriage house. Lynn's dad Butch dug his vintage 70s haunted house LPs out of storage and lent them to Gretchen to upload and remix. And in the loft of the carriage house, Lynn cleared out all her conjured gym equipment to make a funky, freaky black light party room, where kids and adults could bob for apples, play scary games and make their own Halloween masks. Emails were sent and cryptic hints left on rooftops in the hope that some of Grimalkin's 'friends' might make an appearance. Not bad for a night's work, really! - - - In the morning before opening, the Silberman's staff was rather stunned; Lance wandered around the dusty bookshelves, slowly shaking his head "Uhh, boss lady? When were you planning to tell us about all of this?" "I know, I know, I should have; I wasn't planning anything, but then Gretchen got sick of seeing me all hangdog, so-" "No, it's awesome, I just-" "We don't have anything to wear," chimed in Kiki, who also seemed to be charmed by the whole affair. "We can make costumes; we can use stuff lying around the store, I can conjure more stuff-" "I have lots of makeup!" Maddy dumped out the contents of her purse and began digging through it. Gretchen grinned wryly, crossed her arms and bumped her hip against Lynn's. "See? Told you this would work."

Daedalus Building, Claremont Academy, Bayview, Freedom City Monday 1st June 6:00 am At this time of the year most technology lab’s would be completely silent and quiet shut up as students set their mind on “more important” less scholarly subjects. But Claremont wasn’t you most typical school and various technological devices hummed away of flashed little light in the darkness. Though unusually no one else was working in the lab right now, either from a very early start or still there from the night before.

September 1, 2015 10:00 AM The first day of class was a day or two away, but the faculty always managed to give the students enough time to settle in. In a cruel move of mother nature it was unfairly hot. Humid. It was like nature was taunting the soon to be slaving over a desk students of Claremont. Even with availiable pools and air conditioning, the weather would keep a student in a summer mindset. Sakurako wasn't one to complain. She hovered over the Academy testing out a new bouy system. The bouy itself floated in the larger pool, sending back info on the water, any vibrations, etcetra, while Sakurako was tethered to a balloon as she experimented with transmitting wi-fi across the campus. She wanted to make sure the system would work when she did her extension courses with a local Oceanographic organization. From her vantage-point, her red and white balloon stood out, although with Sakurako's recently wreckless streak in science and engineering was expected, and she usually had enough fail-safes to prevent property damage. Which would be needed today. *PAFF... TSSSSHHHHhhhhhh* She looked up and saw one of the struts to the light frame of the wifi-transmitter punctured and tore into the balloon. Her weight would not help matters for everything to make a safe landing. Extra internal airbags aside, she would need to remove herself and quickly. Grumbling she pulls a toggle and cuts away from the damaged balloon and in moments is under a parachute as she drifts towards the front of the school. Seeing her balloon was going to land into a empty athletic yard harmlessly near the school, she breathed a sigh as she landed herself. What she didn't realize is the first shipment of new students were showing up at the front drive, just as she was unceremoniously poking her head out from under her parachute. "Ohhhhh boy. Some first impression this'll make."

Silberman's Books. Friday, March 27th, 2015. 4:06pm Friday afternoons were always dead, especially when it was cold out. There were a few regulars, mostly elderly Jewish men who liked to enjoy coffee and a danish while they played backgammon or chess with one of the store's weathered sets. A young mother pushed her stroller around as she perused the Mystery section, her toddler banging his sippy cup against the bookshelves as they passed. Store owner Lynn Epstein was sitting behind the counter on a tall stool, reading a novel by Scott Westerfeld; in front of her stood her grandfather's old cash register 'Jezebel', restored by Detective Colby's magic, though now a fairly morbid 'Skello Kitty' figurine was glued on top of it as a sort of staff in-joke. Beside her, Gretchen McDaniels leaned on the counter between the register and the espresso machine, resting her chin on her folded arms. Neither seemed to be doing much this lazy afternoon, though yet another sippy cup assault caused Gretchen to finally frown and stand up. "I'm gonna kill that kid." Lynn responded without looking up from her book. "No you're not; that's infanticide, it's a horrible crime." "Well can I at least steal his sippy cup?" "Nope. Gretchen returned to resting her chin, looking comically grumpy. "Fine; I won't commit any horrible crimes." "Thank you!" The bell over the front door jingled.

Ueno Park, Tokyo, Japan 29th March 2015, Hanami With the Cherry blossom in full bloom it seemed that the whole of Tokyo was in the park enjoying good food and good company. The corner of the park you find yourself is a huge public part put on by Sanshain KinpÅge. Sunshine Buttercup was an idoru an sophisticated AI, that maybe fully aware, that wrote record and sung her own rather bouncy J-Pop. Right now she was chatting to and signing "autographs" with a bunch of excited fans, soon she was due to perform to the delight of many gathered in the area. The sun was shining people was happy and the food and entertain were flowing frely, what could possibly go wrong?

This is a Casey/Miracle Girl and Sakurako/Endeavor thread. I would like people to ask me if they're interested in joining in through forum PM. I just ask to let us do some posting for a while first. This is an informal thread. February 21, 2015. 23:40 Claremont Academy, Simulator room Sakurako was working in the simulator room. It was after hours, and her work was for a advanced programming class set up to teach the more tech savvy students how to deal with virtual simulations. Sakurako had already went through the course work and was now enjoying the fruits of her labors. She had sculpted from the digital clay a beautiful small tropical island, expansive beaches, a marina, and even sea gulls and other tropical things. Even a small beach house. The simulated outboard boat was a nice touch of scripting she thought. She decided to take some beach stuff with her from the real world. Some towels, air mattresses, rings, and a rubber rowing dinghy, and other nautical supplies. Mostly stuff her parents let her borrow. She wanted to test the simulation out before using it for a late birthday party later in March or April to see if it was to everyone's liking once things calmed down. The alien invasion and her injury in January put a damper on her plans, but Maybe having a party around Easter where she could have her parents in too might be nice. She gave a invite to Casey, someone she started to develop a friendship with, to share in enjoying a quiet beachfront evening. Sakurako laid on the beach, wearing a sailor collared sun dress over her blue swimsuit, looking up at the simulated space station windows overhead, a rising crescent moon framed the scene. This wasn't on Earth... this simulation was on a space station. Sakurako was in a Sci-Fi mood tonight... Sakurako assigns the entry point on the dock, facing the island with a wave of her hand. The arch to the simulator room appears soon after. "Well, Casey... I hope this is cool..." She said, waiting for her friend to arrive.

GM February 28, 2015, 10pm Eastern Time It was quiet at Claremont Academy. The students were either a quiet Saturday night in Freedom City or resting snugly in their dormitories. Some were preparing for their routine "patrols" and others were working out in the simulator room. Headmaster Summers had discovered a strange uptick in bandwidth usage reported from his IT support at the school, and it was beginning to become worrisome. Worrisome as the FBI had sent an agent to investigate a large uptick in illegal downloading and uploading centered on the school. After a thorough investigation of the student activity over the network discovered nothing, not even a scrap of what was reported in the FBI investigation. This was going to not be a easy solution, but the Headmaster had an idea of how to start...

OOC thread for >this thread - robotic mayhem ahead! If you haven't guessed it already, Steampunk is inspired to one of my favorite tabletop games, Warmachine. @EternalPhoenix: if you're OK with it, Mechanized could have called Terrifica in for backup, since they already worked together. @The Osprey: Feel free to involve Endeavor in whatever way you want. I'll see if Raveled adds a character to this too. EDIT: And Blue Jay is in this too! We're ready to go!

GM Post Freedom City Bank, Wading Way, February 27th 2015 A man in his forties, his short hair starting to turn gray, stood grinning in front of the camera; he was dressed in an odd looking uniform that would suit a late 19th century military officer better than a modern day man, modified however with what looked like a steam boiler carried as a backpack, connected by tubes and pipes to the strange rifle the man was currently waving around. Behind him, the bank's surveillance cameras showed a number of robots in a similar Jules Verne fashion, some human-sized and carrying pikes or rifles, others larger, busy rounding up the terrified people that were until moments before going on with their day to day business. "For those who don't know me, my name is Steampunk, and I'm here to make a statement. Emily Stenford, better known as Mechanized, you fancy yourself a heroine and a savior of Freedom City, thanks to the high-tech suit you're wearing. A suit that by all means should have been developed by me! But I guess it was easy for Daddy's girl to get me fired and keep all your company's high tech gear for yourself. No matter! Look at what I have accomplished, with steam technology and magic alone! Come face me, if you dare, and I will show you once and for all, on live TV, who's the best engineer! Or perhaps, you're too coward to show up, and you'll leave all these innocent hostages in my hands?"
