  1. GM Afternoon, Wednesday November 13th,2024 The Schuster Auditorium, Hanover, Freedom City Now, as far as coach Armstrong is concerned, Violet Squad is in for a treat, being chosen to be the squad to join him for an incursion to Schuster Auditorium to the Ultimate Wrestling League exhibition. The somewhat rough and tumble coach, not always a hit with the students, though he proclaims that he is only acting as he is to toughen them up, is, of course, not using this as an excuse to have Claremont pay for his ticket, no. This is all for the sake of the students. "Now, isn't this excitin', kids?" he proclaims, as he stops near the entrance after having lead the squad inside the auditorium, which is filled with a people watching a number of exhibition matches between the league's super powered wrestlers. He is clad in a black jacket with the UWL logo proudly emblazoned on the back, his large blonde moustache neatly trimmed for the occasion. "See over there? And there!" The coach is excited, and the atmosphere is frankly infectious here. "Take it all in, kids. Today we're gonna learn all about the sweet art of wrasslin'!"
  2. A Small Problem August 28th, 2024 Freedom City King Cole the Third, aka Renee King, was preparing for Claremont. Exciting! As was the prospect of potion manufacture. Magic Potions! Double Exciting! But what was triple exciting? A letter! Not your fancy e mail or other electronic conversation, no no. This was a hand written letter, in fine caligraphy, inviting Renee King, granddaughter of the original King Cole, too a mysterious and mystical problem! Someone, it seems, was intent on cursing the ghastly fluids and matter of Freedom City Sewers, and the young Renee, master of the mystical arts (of potions) was just the person to concoct the solution. And the author of this fine handwriting, a Professor Armitage, expert in occultism, history and - it seemed (from a quick internet search) - pretty much everything that wasn't modern (although he was no slouch in modern sociology, psychology, and so on, from all accounts). Based in Freedom City, and whilst somewhat "Stiff" and "Hard" according to students, a very knowledgable man indeed, with an excellent style in tweed jackets and the occasional pipe of tobacco (not indoors, of course)...
  3. Sub-Basement of Claremont Academy Bayview, Freedom City, New Jersey Friday September 13, 2024. 10:00 AM (Counting as GM Post) A spooky day! In theory. Friday the 13th, the day of horror and spooks. Especially one getting so close to Halloween. It was that day when the student listing of Renee Cole King, Vanya "Jack" Davydov, Harper Hale, Daphen Celeste, and Sarah Francine Thatcher were requested in a room with a very exciting name. It was noted to show up in either their uniforms or costumes and expect strenuous activity. In the case of the last group of the week, it was likely they'd already heard rumors either from other classmates or their Sophomore classmates about what to expect; that they'd get a chance in the 'fabled' Doom Room, to test their mettle and powers against some of the creatures cooked up in the complex and effective simulator. Some of the tales their upperclassmen and fellow sophomores had said about what they would encounter had been clearly exaggerated, likely in good humor for the newer students; a particular Upperclassman had regaled several students with a tale that she'd had to fight The Centurion. She'd later been sternly lectured by another Upperclassman about scaring the new students. So they probably weren't going to fight The Centurion. But others had suggested encounters that seemed more than possible; The Maestro, Dinosaurs, Orion the Hunter, just to name a few. While the stories varied in the specifics, the overarching details did indicate there was probably going to be some sort of fighting or other conflict for the students to navigate to get a hold of their powers and learn how to work as a team, and for the faculty themselves to be aware of those same factors, because nothing beat a first hand test. In that way, you could in fact take it as the first test of the new school year. The large room was mostly white and grey, covered in hexagons, and gave no indication as to what the group would be facing as they entered, heading down the stairs from the student entrance to the building. They couldn't even tell who was going to be administering the test, as the black windows in one side of the room were one way, letting the instructor see but not the students. All they had been told was to get into costume and get into the room, and the test would begin soon.
  4. Rita Kord Dormitories, Third Floor Claremont Academy, Freedom City, New Jersey Saturday, September 7, 2024 Although it was a rather cloudy day, the weather was warm and pleasant in Bayview Heights. Once again the start of another school year was drawing near, with classes starting in just a couple days. As was tradition, this mean that the Claremont Academy campus was a scene of general chaos as students and their families made their way to the school’s dormitories to get the students moved in for the year. Two of the older students tasked with trying to maintain some semblance of order for the third floor of the Kord dormitory were Carmen Arrache and Iris Miller. A sixteen-year-old girl exited one the stairwell at the west end of the floor, pulling behind her a large suitcase with one hand, while the other held a violin case. Lynn Conners had her long blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail and was dressed in a navy blue skit and a white button up blouse. She tried her best to have something of neutral expression on her face as she started down the hallway toward the room she would be sharing with Mattie Hopper for the year. The blonde teen could have already been to her room if she had wanted to, but did not want to so openly use her speed (she would save that for putting things away in her room). Instead, she had taken the time walking from the parking lot to try to calm herself after the ride from North Bay with her adopted brother. Lawrence Harrow reminded her so much of her own brother (although some of his mannerism and accent were completely different) that being around him too long often triggered memories of what had happened that lead to her barely escaping her own timeline and eventually ending up in this one. Thankfully she was feeling a bit better at the moment, the last thing she wanted was to have a nervous breakdown the first day at Claremont.
  5. (King Cole III Post) Early November, 2024 Friday Afternoon, Claremont Academy Claremont Academy was a rigorous school in addition to it's function as a Superhero training academy. It meant for students who had previously been proud of their academic achievements, they were now having to fight against significantly smarter students, and their coursework had expanded significantly as well. For Renee Cole King, this meant she was struggling between her studies and her extra curricular examinations of her grandfather's books. She didn't return to the dorm right away at the end of classes, and Estelle was already there by the time Renee returned to the dorm with a screech. "I'm done! I'm done for this week!" she declared to Estelle as she made a beeline for her dresser and grabbed her most important possession, the potion to make her someone else, and drank it down. "AAaaaa!" The King Cole came out immediately, and she shook her head. "Escape! It's time to escape! The King will not be restrained in this horrific...strangulating....place!" she waved her hands frantically in annoyance. "Estelle! Come on! I have an idea, let's go! You want to see a play? At the Beaudrie Opera House! It's the greatest place in Freedom! It got built in 1874, plays, operas, musicals, all of it goes to the Beaudrie! You can't say you're a Noble in Freedom until you've seen a Beaudrie show!"
  6. ooc for this. @Poncho, @Supercape, @The Sailor, @Ecalsneerg Feel free to make up super powered wrestlers you spot. And Baz is free to walk around, given the number of super people around already.
  7. It was the weekend, meaning some time off school! Most people would be excited, free time. Some people use that free time to play video games, go out for walks or explore the city for example. But some people...some people use this time to commit crimes! Like what was happening right now! In Bayview there was a seemingly nondescript jewerly store, it was somewhat new, and yet really popular with the locals in the area, so it was a shock then when suddenly the doors were blasted open! Some people stormed in armed with baseball bats and guns. Specifically it was two gunmen and three with baseball bats. Most importantly however, is that they were wearing shirts with symbols of a white rabbit on it. The shop owner screamed as alarms started to blare! It was complete chaos in there. Police were being called but they were already caught up somewhere else with a different gang of thieves and couldn't make it. CRASH! Baseball bats came down on glass and jewels were taken. Let's zoom out for a bit, what are your characters doing before or during the chaos. Were they in the store? Just passing by? What are they up to? ( @Poncho @EternalPhoenix @Supercape )
  8. GM Southside isn't the safest place in Freedom City, but that didn't stop people from enjoying their lives there as best they could. Starting up their own businesses, buidling new stores. Such as the new library, called the Alley Archive, that had just opened up. A small archive of old news stories and biographies of many older generation heroes and villians, going all the way back to the Golden Age. The librarian, a woman named Natasha Shares, was an older woman with an interest in the city's history and legacy. However, her library was set up in a seedier part of town due to lack of funds (for now). Still it was a humble place. On the corner of a street, close to a small intersection, buildings stretched behind and beside it, the area it was in didn't seem all too busy at the current moment either. Renee's reason for going would be her own. Maybe she was looking for a good book to read, maybe she wanted to know more about her grandfather? Whatever it was, she would find it here, hopefully. What would she like to do? ( @Poncho )

  10. KING COLE III Power Level: 8 (115/123PP) Unspent Power Points: 8pp Trade-Offs: +2/-2 on both Attack and Defense In Brief: Granddaughter of the Original King Cole trying to rebuild the 'Good Name' of her grandfather. Catchphrase: "I've already written the ending to this story!" Theme: Royalty- Kat Meoz Alternate Identity: Renee Cole King (Secret) Birthplace: Freedom City Residence: Her Parent's House in the suburbs/Claremont High Occupation: Student Affiliations: Her Family, Claremont, King Cole Family: Her parents and older siblings Description: Age: 16 (DoB: 2008) Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5'6 Weight: 120lbs Eyes: Brown, but Purple when Superheroing Hair: Blonde Renee is a somewhat mousy woman when she isn't Superheroing; she has a habit of slouching to look shorter than she is, of wearing baggy clothes to hide herself, of trying to not make a scene. She doesn't walk with confidence ever, and is the kind of person that someone's eyes would generally pass over. It's not that she is secretly beautiful and hiding it; she is a pretty girl, but she doesn't emphasize it or work to make it noticeable. This all changes when she's King Cole III. Confident and determined to be the center of any situation, her voice echoes with confidence and she stands straight backed, as ready as could be to make the biggest impact she can to make people know who she is. Wearing a costume reminiscent of the original King Cole's, with a crown, a trimmed fur cape, and a royal purple outfit, carrying a royal staff, and with bright purple eyes and a domino mask, she presents herself as the royalty she claims to be. History: Renee Cole King. Straight A Student. Voracious Reader. Massive fan of theater and fairy-tales. And total wallflower. She loves video games, musical theater, plays and books. She’d spend hours at the library, or watching plays, but she’d never make the leap to get on stage herself. She’d recite the plays she watched line by line, writing anonymous reviews that she kept in a secret folder on her computer; judging performers and comparing their improvements over time. But she’d never offer this information to anyone, and she’d never reach out to try and make a friend who wasn’t behind a screen. She had a likely chance of having a nice job as an adult, but her refusal to ever go out and meet others was always going to hamper her. It made her parents worry. The King family was, after all, well known in their neighborhood for their good humor and respectability. Ever since Cole King had moved in in the late 60s, up until the present day, the Kings had always been well known for their outgoing and gregarious nature in the neighborhood; as the years had worn on, the kids who had grown up listening to Uncle Cole’s stories and puppet shows had become adults who took those stories and enjoyment to their own kids, and the King family continued to host barbeques and summer puppet shows. But Renee would simply sit in her room, playing on her computer, looking out at the parties through the slits in her blinds, always too self-conscious to step out onto the stage herself. That changed one fateful day that she wandered into the basement of their family home to flip a breaker that had tripped. While fumbling around in the dark basement for the breaker box, she hit a different switch, and part of the wall slid away to reveal the costume and assorted magical trinkets of the original King Cole, the leader of the Fable Gang and a member of the Golden Age Crime Syndicate. It took a little research, but with enough newspaper studying and confirmations, she was certain that her deceased grandfather was the individual in question, not just a collector. It became her new obsession; instead of playing video games and going to plays, she would sneak into the basement and go over her grandfather’s ancient spellbook; translating magical formulas, practicing spells, playing with the puppets and wearing the costume that was a bit too big for her. And one day, while reading through the book, decrypting her Grandfather’s cipher on some of his magical potions, she came upon one that promised to ‘reveal the true self’ of the person that took it. Too curious to put it away, Renee gathered up the ingredients, stewed the potion according to her grandfather’s notes, and, when it was finished, drank it. It turned her eyes purple, and she felt empowered by the confidence of her true self; she wasn’t really just some wallflower, she was the inheritor of the King Cole mantle. And her grandfather had been a beloved member of his community, even if she’d never met him. Certainly there had been another King Cole, King Cole II, but he was nothing like the stories she had been told of her grandfather post his supervillainy, and even when he was a super villain. Renee, brimming with newfound confidence, decided she was going to set the record straight, because she could finally feel like she could be herself. It took a little while longer to make a new King Cole outfit; tailoring the original’s outfit for more activity, learning more about his magic spells and artifact creations, and learning how to use his magically enchanted staff. When she was finally finished, King Cole III was ready to go out on the streets and reclaim the name of her grandfather. Personality & Motivation: Renee is a quiet girl who doesn't want to stand out, but loves her family and wants to do right by them. She never got to meet her grandfather due to him having kids late in life, but she grew up on stories of how he was a major part of the neighborhood and all the current adults grew up with his stories. She wants to do something good, and she feels like she's never had the confidence or ability to do so in her own life. Taking the potion changes her, even though it doesn't really work; she thinks it does, and it's enough to give her the confidence to do things. When she's being King Cole III, she gets into her favorite concepts; playing a boisterous, bold actor, acting larger than life. She wants to be a famous hero and reclaim the name that she feels was tarnished, to make the idea of King Cole live up to what she heard about her grandfather from her parents and the adults around her; they never spoke about him as a villain, but rather as an entertainer, a person that everyone loved for his puppet shows and plays Powers & Tactics: King Cole III doesn't ever take the first strike, because she opens every encounter with a monologue. She is always acting like she's an actor on a stage giving a performance, so when she confronts a villain, she is prone to announcing their evildoing to any bystanders- even if there are none- and announcing herself. She loves to declare herself 'The True Heir to the Fable Gang' or 'The Future Hero King', gesturing loudly and often accompanying this with small magical tricks like smoke bombs or fireworks. When she gets into combat, she's surprisingly competent with her grandfather's staff in ways that he wasn't necessarily, bashing opponents over the head and keeping them at bay. Power Descriptions: King Cole III doesn't really have powers, but she is a magical scholar in the same vein as King Cole I; given time, she can mix up and create magical potions or objects for a limited period of time that can mimic the potions and items used by her grandfather thanks to her access to his notes. While she is not quite as good at this as her Grandfather yet, it's only a matter of time. Complications: Heavy Legacy: Renee is actively courting the legacy of King Cole, which can be a bad thing; she is intentionally taking the moniker of a famous villain to try and rebrand it as a hero, and intentionally trying to bring it more in focus to the first of the two King Coles. This means it's completely reasonable for individuals to view Renee with suspicion, and that individuals may have complicated feelings for what she wants to do Magic Feather: The potion that Renee thinks 'reveals her true self' doesn't actually do anything other than change her eye color. But she thinks it's the only reason she can present herself as King Cole III. If she hasn't taken it, she's reluctant to do anything dangerous or scary, thinking she doesn't have the ability to do so. Not So Secret: For individuals with connections to the proper authorities or who would otherwise be aware of it, it's not too hard to figure out who King Cole III would be, if they knew who the original King Cole was.
