In the circles of the mystically inclined the holder of hte Sands of Sleep is known as the 'Guardian of the Vale of Sleep' which is kinda pretentous sounding but givent he mystics I've met par for hte course. On the street I'm sometimes called Sandman or The Sandman, cus like, sand man. What is your full birth name? Elis Warren Sanford Where do you live? Hanover How old are you? What year were you born (if applicable)? 38, Born June 14 1977 Physical Traits What is your gender? If not applicable, please explain. Masculine (Cis male) How would you describe your heritage? Privilaged. How tall are you? 5' 11" on my drivers liceanse but I was having a short day What is your body type? Average build but toned and fit. Do you have any particular weaknesses, such as allergies or physical disabilities? Bullets! My only weakness how did you know! No none outside the norm How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? Lightfooted though not particularly stealthy. I move with a calm surity and deliberation. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. Lightly tanned caucasian, sandy blond, blue eyes. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Do you have facial hair? Facial hair is a hassle in the OR, Keep my hair trimmed in a neat, short, and nondescript buisiness cut. Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? Well I'm not quite to my college weight but I keep fit. I get told I have 'Kind Eyes' often by others but to be fair scrubs and a full facemask don't leave much else to complement. Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings, or birthmarks? I managed to escape my youthful rebelions without such permanent proof. Do you resemble anyone famous? How closely? I've always said Simon Baker should play me in the movie of my life, granted when I said that the posibiliyt of such a film seemed much more distant... Do you have a dominant hand? Righthanded What kind of clothing do you wear? Business casual or scrubs when out of costume. Do you wear makeup? No I earned these wrinkles dammit. What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? Is poor an option? I'm not a singer though my range would be a tenor with breaks every three notes? Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? I click my pen when reading or studying patient records, case studies, or journals. Picked it up in med school as a way to keep awake and alert during all nighters. History Where do you come from? Born and raised in Hanover a suburb of Freedom City. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? My Parents used to live about six blocks from where I live now, of course they went south to florida after Grace got married. Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? I am loyal to the idea of my country as for its current government? Well theres work that could be done but it's better than most. How do you feel about the place you come from? Hanover is a lovely town and I'm lucky to have grown up there Freedom has it's ups and downs but at least you can't say it's boring? Where is your home town? What was/is it like? It's pretty much ecactly the neighborhood from every cheesy eighties sitcom so yea not a bad place to grow up. Sure teen me thought the burbs were lame but I have kids and like my cul-de-sac end lot. Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? Yea I grew up a WASP in a nest of WASPs. Didn't really know anything different until I went to college at FCU. It was a bit of a culture shock to see and hear about the very different lives of those from the Fens or the West coast or more exotic locales. It was a learning experiance and while I'm happy with where I grew up I try to make sure my kids are less insulated from the world. Luckily that's easier now that the HOA's can't just blatently keep the minorities out. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? I've aways been a good student, Perhaps not the brightest kid in the room but I managed to keep up with good study habits and hard work, mostly. There were alot of long nights and stressful tests in med school I don't think I'd have made it without Barbaras support. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? My childhood was eerily pristine. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. When I was nine my grandfather had a stroke when we were at this big family brunch. None of us saw what was happening he just was sluring his speech a bit and blinking alot like he couldn't focus his eyes. I remember grandma was sniffing at his coffee like he'd irished it up. This older man at the next table saw the signs though right away and had the restaruant call 911. It was aminor stroke but that doctor noticing made all the diference in his recovery. Thats when I decided I wanted to be a doctor. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? First year of college I was struggling to keep afloat, too haevy a class load and being in charge of my own social life was a bit rough. Buddy of mine got some diet pills from his sister for a cram session we were blazing through the material feeling great. Got on the bus to head to the midterm and both of us passed dead out didn't wake up till the buss went out of service at nine that night. Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? Pre-med at FCU then Med-school, residency at Freedom General, all told it was a long eighteen years but good and I enjoyed it as much as one can enjoy spending half your life cramming for tests against the best and the brightest and having teenage super genious earn multiple doctorates while you're hopeing not to flame out. Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? Half my garage is filled with boxes of every assighnment, science project, and Summer Camp craft my mother collected and refused to move to florida with her and dad. So Yea? But I'm not exactly putting my most improved band trophy or t-ball paticipation plaques up on display. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? A little more than a year ago. Yea I had a bit of a nudge in the direction. Barbara my wife was the last bearer of the Sands. When she was killed she passed them to me and made me promise to fight the nightmares. It's not the path I'd have walked on my own but I always keep a promise. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? Pretty much leave it at, "I'm the defender of dreams" and don't go into painful details of my wife's murder with strangers but yea thanks for bringing that up. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Sorry not that exciting. Do you represent yourself as being different from who you really are? Why? Well I don't exactly introduce myself at conferences with my co-author credits and 'by the way I moonlight fighting nightmare things from beyond hte vale of sleep' so arguably yea? I think it's pretty self explanatory though. If you do have these secrets, what do you fear would happen if the truth became known? How far would you go to protect those secrets? Well even with the superpowered running about I don't see such revelation being a big plus on a resume and I'd rather not have more monsters gunning for my family than we already do. Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? Yea no. Boring remember. Family What are your biological parents' names? Harrold and Maude Were you raised by them? If not, please explain and describe who raised you. I was raised by them. What was their standing in the community? What did/do they do for a living? Dad worked in advertising, Mom was a homemaker and sometimes artist. They were pretty well respected int eh community. Where are your parents now? Boca Raton Florida, They love talking about thier son the doctor to all the old folks at the club house. Did your family stay in one area or move around a lot? My parents had the same home I was born in when they finally grew tired of Freedom winters and went down south. How did you get along with their parents? How do you get along with them now (if applicable). I don't dislike them or anything they were good parents by most any petric just don't really feel like we ever connected. Maybe thats all kids though. How do your parents view you now, or how would they? They are super proud of the whole doctor thing as one would expect, which must be hard on my sister grace. They don't know about the other half at all and I get the feeling they think I need ot put a woman in my life for the kids. Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. A younger sister, Grace, baby of the family. We get on well. She's been a life saver since Barbara passed helping out with the kids. I let her and her huspand Frank live rent free in the guest house while he works on his novel. What was your birth order in the family? First born. Where are your siblings now (if applicable)? Do they have families of their own? What do they do? Grace Lives with her husband Frank in my guest house. He's a writer trying to get his novel published, she works in HR for one of these tech startups I can never keep straight which one a new super genius shows up every few weeks and takes the sector by storm it seems. Do you stay in touch with them or have you become estranged? We're in touch she watches the kids for me prety often and Frank helps out with school pick up on busy days. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? People tell me I should make Frank get a real job that he's taking advantage of me and Grace but the guys book is actually decent and he's good to Grace which counts for alot. I don't think I need more empty house to clean right now. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? Grace is a godsend with the kids and I lean on her alot. But I can't risk getting her more invovled. Its a dangerous world. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. My brother in law Frank is a bit of free spirit and my Parents think he's bad for Grace but they always have been a bit to focused on the money. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. Dad says there was a viscount that lost his lands to the protestants and if the suit ever moves we'll be lords of some sort but I think he just spends too much time on ancestry.com Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. Two kids. Jenny and Gabe, Eight and Five respectively. They're what keeps me going. Barbara passed a year ago, I miss her, and that's about as much of that as we need to go into. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? My parents and sometimes Grace think I need a womans touch in the house. I just don't feel ready and lets be frank I've been out of the game along time and wasn't exactly a star player then. What type of person would be your ideal mate? try partner mate makes it sound like we're somones experement or pet. Relationships Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. I have collegues not so much firends though I get along well with them. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? She's gone. If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? Grace, Frank, the Kids obviously. If I missed a shift or surgery the chief of surgery would crap a brick. Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? Yes. Barbara was brave and strong and they took her away. Now I have a promise to keep to try and do what she can't any more. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. There is a darkness a thing of nightmare and fear that is out there. I'm going to find it and I'm going to make sure it never hurts anyone again. If you have enemies, how do you think they might attempt to work against you in the future? I'm the Guardian of the Dreamlands all the things of nightmare want me out of the way. They'll come at me however they can but I'll be ready. What is the worst thing someone has done to you? They took her from me. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? My kids, My family, the dreamers. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? Myself, don;t have anyone else any more. I trust Grace with the kids or if somethng happens to me but, the rest it's just me. Who or what do you despise? Why? The boogeyman, he's real and not some kids story. He's the worst thing the nightmare realms has spit out. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? Knowledge, Integrity. I manage the later and strive for the former. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? Those who use fear to get thier way. Not my way never has been. How much time do you spend on that? The AMA? I spend the bare minimum those guys are way to full of thier own importance for me to hang. Personality & Beliefs Who are your heroes? Jonas Salk and my late wife Barbara Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? I used to think everything of mmy dad like most kids but I grew to know he's a man a good man better than many but still just a man. Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? This is not what I was meant for, but I madea promise and I'll keep it. Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? I don't even know I'm not so foolish as to say n oI know how far grief can push a person but I don't even know if I can switch sides. What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? I'd like to actually learn what my role is that'd be cool. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? Figure out how or if I can train my kids or hand this off to someone else. What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? That I'll lose the kids or they'll lose me. It's the worst thing I can think of and when it wells up I just hold them. Is there anything you would give you life for? My kids. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? I am and some would say my wife's secret was an abuse of that trust with how far things got before she told me but I get it now. It's no easy thing to reveal. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? I'm confident but mostly introverted. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? I try very hard not to objectify them and usually succeed. Spontaneity is not my strong suit. Do you feel contempt for any general category of people? Who are they, and why? I have not and kinda swore an oath to do the opposite. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? I'm not a frickin psycho? Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? Everyone who kills has a moment in which to decide if it is worth it. Untill you have that moment it's all just talk I hope I never have it. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Maelstrom

Introduction Who are you? Sum yourself up in one sentence. I’m the sister of Nathan Coletta and a powerful psychic in my own right. Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or nom de plume? On the street, bad guys called me Maelstrom. What is your full birth name? Rachel Coletta. Where do you live? I share an apartment with my brother. How old are you? What year were you born (if applicable)? I’m about 24 years old. I was born in June 1980. Physical Traits What is your gender? If not applicable, please explain. I’m a woman. How would you describe your heritage? Italian-American-Artificial? Genetically I’m Italian, but I don’t have a lot of connection to the old country, and I have some cybernetic implants. How tall are you? I’m pretty short. What is your body type? I’m very thin. Not very well-muscled, either. Do you have any particular weaknesses, such as allergies or physical disabilities? I can get some pretty bad hay fever when everything is blooming. How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? I’m not sure that I can be called graceful, but I’m very confident. You have to be a bit of a tomcat to get interviews as a short, female reporter. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. Dark, dark, and dark. My skin’s very Mediterranean, and my eyes and hair are both black. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Do you have facial hair? As long as possible. I love my hair, it’s my best feature. At work I wear it in a braid, but I leave it unbound and down as often as I can. Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? What are you asking? I’m a knock-out. Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings, or birthmarks? Nothing like that yet. Give me a few years on the streets, though. Do you resemble anyone famous? Nobody’s said anything to me, and I don’t really watch movies so I wouldn’t know. Do you have a dominant hand? I write with my right, so yes. What kind of clothing do you wear? At work I like pantsuits, with running shoes. It’s a nice mix of professional, and able to be on my feet all day. Off hours, I wear whatever makes me look good, which is most things. Do you wear makeup? Of course. I like greens and dark reds, to play up my darker features. What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? High enough that you don’t want me around glass when I’m singing opera, let’s say that. Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? I am admittedly a biter, a grinder. I don’t know where it comes from, but I know when I’m nervous I feel better if I have something to bite on. No one’s ever commented on it, but I know I ruin plenty of pen caps around the office. When I’m bored, I deliberately mispronounce words, which drives all the reporters I work around to distraction. History Where do you come from? Well my birth certificate says Cincinnati, Ohio, but I don’t remember it. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? My brother and myself settled in Freedom City. It’s not as far a move as some people, but it’s a few states over. Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? I don’t know if I feel loyal to the US, but I feel lucky to live in a country that outright encourages journalistic debate. How do you feel about the place you come from? I don’t feel anything. I’ve been to Cincinnati, but I don’t have feelings for any place there. I was even to the apartment building I was supposed to be living in, but nothing. What is your earliest memory? Waking up on the banks of the Ohio River next to my brother, crawling out of a tube. How did you react to your amnesia? Who was there to help you through it? I know I would’ve been worse off without Nathan. He’s always been better at the stoic resistance shtick than me. If I had been alone, I probably would’ve gone nuts. Aside from Nate, there was a Catholic charity that helped us get back on our feet. I’ll always be grateful for that. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? I’ve always been really nosy. I’ve always been willing and able to dig and dig to find the next question. Maybe it’s a stupid talent for most people, but it’s really handy for a reporter. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? Well when I was 17 I woke up without any memory of whom I was, I think that counts. What happened to cause your amnesia? A very good question that I never got an answer to. Best story I ever heard was that we were kidnapped by some supervillain who did something to our brains, but I’ve never figured out who it could have been. What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever done? … Honestly? In a long-term, lie awake at night, define-your-life kind of stupidity? Probably leave Cincinnati. Sure, we had no memories of the place, but it was the only place where we had any kind of a support network. Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? Well both Nathan and I got our GEDs without any trouble, but it was still a few years before I was ready to go back to school. Eventually I got into Freedom City University on a scholarship, studying journalism. I completed my four years with a pretty good GPA; it was kind of weird, because I was four or five years older than everyone else in the program. They expected me to have all the answers and be their mentor, but I knew less about the city and the world and living life than most of the teenagers I had classes with. Pathetic, I know. Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? I wish I did, I really do. Apparently me and Nathan were the only kids our parents ever had, and there’s no extended family either. Heck, I had to get a reprint of my birth certificate from the Secretary of State’s office when I wanted to apply for the scholarship. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? I read the papers. Like, two of them every day, and another one at night, and I browse the news websites. There’s a lot of crap going on in the world, and I can do more about it than most people. So am I supposed to just sit at home and wait for someone else to fix it? Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? No, that’s pretty much what I tell folks; I want a better world, and I can do more to bring it about than most people by being out on the streets and pushing in teeth. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? If there are, I don’t remember them. Of course, that’s not saying much. Do you represent yourself as being different from whom you really are? Why? I wouldn’t know how to be anyone else. Are you afraid of anything in your past? I used to worry that some kingpin would snatch me and Nathan back to whatever lab he had us in before, or else there was some huge debt out there waiting to crush us, but it’s been almost a decade. If something from our past was going to appear and blow up in our faces, it would’ve done it by now. Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? A little loitering, a little petty annoyance and trespassing. I’ve never done any B&E and I don’t have any restraining orders against me. Family What are your biological parents' names? Adam and Bethany Coletta, from the birth certificate. Did you ever meet them? No. Apparently they died when I was young. Left Nathan and I a pretty sizable inheritance, though. Do you have any extended family? Nothing and no one. Where are your parents now? Dead. In a car crash, from the police reports. How do you feel about your parents? I don’t feel anything, which is kind of creepy. I should miss them or something, right? But when I think about them, there’s some pictures and names, and that’s it. The doctors all said it was a natural part of the healing process, and I’d gotten over their deaths awhile back. But I still think I should feel something. How do you hope your parents would view you now? I hope they’d be proud of me and Nathan, for using our gifts like we do. Isn’t that what everyone hopes about their parents, though? Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. Nathan Coletta. I’m close to him like no one else. What was your birth order in the family? I’m the younger, by about two seconds. Where are your siblings now (if applicable)? Do they have families of their own? What do they do? We live together in the same apartment. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? I don’t know what I’d do without Nathan. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? Nathan and I are, well, we’re telepathic. With each other, at least. It’s not some kind of weird hive mind, but I can ‘talk’ to him at any distance, instantaneously. It’s kind of hard not to keep him in the loop. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. I don’t know. I guess if we’re black sheep, that would explain why no one wants anything to do with us. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. No, pretty normal family, all things considered. Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. Nobody yet, no. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? I don’t know. I’d like to have a career first, but once I’m established… Maybe. What type of person would be your ideal mate? Someone who isn’t afraid to push back against me. I don’t think I could live with some milquetoast who let me run roughshod over them. Relationships Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? It’s going to sound cliché, but my best friend is my brother. Maybe it’s the psychic thing, maybe it’s the amnesia, but there’s no one else that I trust like I do my brother. If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? Nathan. Definitely. I know that if we went missing, I’d tear the city apart looking for him. He might not be able to do the same thing, but I don’t envy the mind of anyone who stands between us. Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? Anyone I loved before that spring day when I was 17 is gone for good. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. Not really, no. There’s some folks at work who I’d rather not see, but nothing I’d call an enemy. What is the worst thing someone has done to you? I’m going to go with whatever mad bastard stole my past. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? Nathan first, everyone and everything else second. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? My brother, full stop. When our world was barely there, was just some words on paper, he kept me grounded. Kept me sane. Who or what do you despise? Why? I don’t like people who try to manipulate other people, who tell half-truths and twist the meaning of every word to reflect their meaning. It’s the sort of dishonesty that really burns me as a reporter, because they’re lying with the facts. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? I like people who push, who don’t give up. I try to have that quality, to never stop fighting for what I believe in and what I’m sure about. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? I don’t like people who are push-overs, who fold that the first opportunity or don’t try to fight for what’s important to them. I think I show everyday that I’m more than that. Do you have a secret identity? If so, who knows it? Do you hide it from people who are close to you? Why? I have a different name on the streets, yes. The only person who I would consider close to me is Nathan, and I can’t imagine hiding it from him. I don’t think I could hide my powers from someone I was close to. I’m too liberal with using them in private. Do you work well on teams and in groups? Are you a leader or a follower? Nathan and I work well together. I usually take the lead, but that’s because stopping to plan things isn’t really in my nature. I don’t know if I’d work well with anyone else. My powers are a bit too indiscriminate, and I can get too caught up in using them to keep the big picture in mind. Are you on a super team? Not any kind of superteam, no. Are you a member of any church, fraternal organization, club, committee, political party, or other group? How much time do you spend on that? There’s a Catholic church near our apartment that I go to on Sundays. It’s pretty much just that hour, though. Personality & Beliefs Who are your heroes? I always liked Captain Thunder and Doc Metro’s style. Getting stuck into the middle of things, and using their whole environment as weapons. Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? I used to be big on Atlas, no pun intended, but then he turned out to be a Grue weapon. How can you trust someone when they were made by someone like that? Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? I love it. Getting out there and being able to do stuff instead of just talking about it? Best part of my day. Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? Maybe if I found a real position that let me write the kind of stories I want to, but didn’t leave me time to patrol, I’d hang up the cape, but I can’t imagine going to the other side. What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? I’d like to write some more independent articles on things I’m passionate about, more than just entertainment. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? I hope I have a permanent position, even a column, in a publication like the Ledger or World Magazine. I’d like to have a husband, and maybe a kid. I might even be living apart from Nathan, who knows? What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? I think the only thing that would qualify for that would really upset my life would be losing Nathan. I don’t know how I would go forward after that. Is there anything you would give your life for? If it was a choice between me and Nathan, I’d do it without a thought. I like to think I’d go right to the wire for an important story, but I don’t know if I’d die for it. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? It would be nicer to be rich than to be poor. But if you think that wealth is the end-all, be-all, if that’s the only thing you work toward, then your life is hollow. You should be working to make a mark on the world, and if money helps to get there then that’s fantastic, but it’s not the most important thing. How do you generally treat others? I try to give folks a fair shake, but I don’t give second choices. Are you a trusting person? It’s hard to say I’m trusting. A reporter is always sort of standing outside, watching other people. When you spend all day immersed in world news, sometimes you get to start to expect the worst in people. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? I’m very extroverted. I couldn’t do the job I do without being outwardly-focused. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? Well, what do you do? I try to get their attention. What are your most annoying habits? Sometimes I dig too deeply. I’m a professional busy body, and sometimes I keep digging when it would be more polite to shut up. Do you feel contempt for any general category of people? Who are they, and why? A whole group of people? No. I feel contempt for a few individuals, though. What is your favorite food? Do you prefer any particular type of food? Do you take the time to enjoy your food, or do you eat as fast as you can? Italian food is my favorite, especially with the heavy, cream sauces. One upside of my powers, I burn calories like nobody’s business so I don’t really have to watch what I eat. What is your favorite drink (alcoholic or otherwise)? I don’t really drink alcohol. I don’t really like the taste. I can down a two-liter of soda during a movie, though. What is your favorite treat (dessert)? Those little chocolate chip cookies, the ones the size of potato chips. Are there any specific foodstuffs that you find disgusting or refuse to eat? I’ve never liked hummus. Something between the texture and the taste and the fact that it’s cold. What is your favorite color? Are there any colors you dislike? I’m partial to purple. It’s probably sentimental. Back when we’d just woken up and me and Nathan were put up by the charity, I had a purple comforter. There was just something about being under it that made me feel safe. What sort of music do you like? Is there any that you hate? When I’m trying to finish an article I like to listen to house music or dubstep, something with a strong beat that doesn’t demand I pay attention to the lyrics. On the radio, though, I listen and sing along to pop tunes. If you have a favorite scent, what is it? No, not really. Once you’ve fought in sewage, anything else smells great. Do you have a favorite animal? Animals shed. Ergo, I do not like animals. What is your most treasured possession? Why? I keep all of my published articles in a big album underneath my bed. It’s a list of my accomplishments. Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts? Give me air conditioning and a hot shower over sleeping under the stars any day. Is there a job or a task you would absolutely refuse to do? I used to think that, and then I went to a death metal concert in a pantsuit. Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? I’d like to believe that there’s Someone up there, looking out for the little guy, but I haven’t settle on a specific robe to wear, no. Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? There was a Catholic charity that helped Nathan and I when we woke up. I’m still very grateful for that. If you belong to a religious organization, how often do you attend? Do you have a specific place of worship, or friends within the organization? How much do you agree with the beliefs of your organization? There’s a Catholic church just down the road that I go to every Sunday. I don’t know if I really believe. I know I don’t agree with some parts of the dogma. It’s a nice place to center myself and sort of rejuvenate after a long week, though. Could you kill? Have you killed? I’ve never killed in my life. I don’t think I could. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? Well death is the end, isn’t it? If you kill them, there’s no chance of someone changing and fixing what they did. I don’t know, maybe I’m just a sentimental so-and-so. Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? … I really don’t know. I guess if it’s to save someone else, then I could understand, but I cannot think of a situation where cold-blooded murder is a good idea. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? I don’t think I’d want to watch that. If I could save someone, I’d turn away. How would you react if something important was stolen from you? I’d tell the police and then I’d go looking for it. If it’s in the city, I’ll find it. How would you react to public humiliation? I’d fight back against it. You can only be humiliated by something that you try to keep secret, after all. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Well, my parents were killed in a car accident, but I don’t remember it. If Nathan was killed… I don’t know how I'd react.. It wouldn’t be safe to be around me, though. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? Could commit ever? Destroying someone’s life with half-truths and mistellings. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? Five things. Uh. Punch out my editor, kiss the cute guy in the mailroom, go to that little Italian place I never have the money for, take a fast car on a test drive and wreck it, and leave everything to Nathan. There, five. Career & Training Do you have any special training in your hero skills? No training for my powers, no. Who taught you the most about your heroing abilities? What was your relationship with that person? Nathan and I kind of taught each other, I guess. He or me would try something, and then the other would, and we sort of built off each other. Do you have any particularly unusual skills? How did you acquire them? Unusual? … Not really, no. I’m a reporter, but I learned all that in journalism classes in college. Do you do something besides hero work for a living? Have you ever done anything else, or do you plan to? I’m a journalist, and there’s nothing else I can imagine being. Though hopefully I won’t be working for an entertainment rag my whole career. What is your preferred combat style? Throwing whatever is in range. Have you ever received any awards or honors? Not yet. I will, though. What skill areas would you like most to improve in? Is there anything you can't do that you wish desperately you could? I'm a pretty good investigator and when it comes to talking to people I can usually get what I need for a story, but I'd kind of like to be able to sneak around a bit better. It might be technically illegal, but it's the fun kind of illegal and no one gets hurt by it. How do you act around people who are more skilled than you in areas you'd like to improve? Are you jealous, or do you try and learn? I try to ask important questions and watch what they’re doing, so I can learn from it. Lifestyle & Hobbies What is a normal day for you? How do you feel when something interrupts this routine? Well my radio goes off pretty early, and then a little while later my alarm goes off and I know I have to get out of bed. I get washed up and dressed, and then it’s either Nathan making breakfast or I make breakfast. After that I go to the office, and there’s no kind of routine there, all of my stories are catch-as-catch can. Then it’s home, and dinner, and after that is usually patrolling. I’m really not a fan of schedules and routines, so I’m happy when something breaks it up. Do you have any hobbies, or interests outside hero work? What are they, and where did you pick them up? Sorry, I’m a boring lady. I’m a news hound. I like to write articles and read better newspapers. What do you do for fun? I like to go out, but not to clubs. Anywhere but clubs. Listening to live music is too close to work, you know? Do you have a costume? What does it look like? It’s a lot of purple and orange. Purple most places, and then orange boots, collar, belt, and orange lines connecting it all, and a cape. Gotta have a cape. How do you normally dress when not in costume? Normal for work is pantsuits. Normal out of work is shorts and slacks. What do you wear to bed most nights? I don’t have PJs or anything like that. Usually I just wear a shirt and shorts. Do you wear any special jewelry? I have jewelry, but none of it is particularly special to me. Do you have a special place where you keep your valuables? My important documents are in a safe deposit box at a bank, but I don’t have a safe in the apartment or anything. What's your preferred means of local travel? How about long distance? Around the city I mostly use public transport or my own two feet. I don’t bother with owning a car. Long distance, if I can’t finagle something through work I’ll take the cheapest plane tickets I can -- red eye and multiple stop-overs, that sort of thing. Or heck, I can even fly it if it isn’t too far. Miscellaneous Have you ever made a will, or tried to make arrangements for your death? Uh, no. No will. Not yet, anyway. If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of identifying your body? Not anything that comes to mind. Jeez, what a morbid question. What would you like to be remembered for after your death? Telling the truth and shaming the Devil. Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? Potentially, sure. Even when I’m fighting bad guys, I’m ripping up the streets and everything else. If I went bad, I could trash the whole city. What do you perceive as your greatest strength? My tenacity. I never just lay down and give up. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? I can be a little overzealous in trying to uncover stories, charging in when nothing is happening, and before really thinking. As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed your advice... Don’t assume that just because nothing’s come out of your past yet, that nothing ever will. Dig underneath every single rock until you are sure of what happened. Investigate yourself.
  16. Valcili

    BabyBrawler

    1. Where is your hero from? Valentine's official Place of birth is the Balboa Veterans hospital as her Father was actively stationed at the SD Boot camp conducting combat training for the new recruits at the time. She has bounced around the world a lot while traveling on duty with her father. She settled Freedom City after college. 2. How would your hero physically describe him/herself? Is this different from how others would? Valentine would describe herself as you average tomboy but with a severe sexy side. Most people are rumored to call her a bad "A" She’ra-esk or baby she-hulk when she prefers to be viewed closer to a baroness from GI-Joe. 3. Does your hero have distinguishing speech characteristics or recurring mannerisms? Valentine tends to regard herself as somewhat of a teacher probably picked up from how her father had always been with her...when in a conflict she tends to us a calming teachers voice as if talking to a child in need of a lesson. Of course that tends to change when things are not going as she had planned. 4. What is your hero's motivation? Valentine’s Father had always told her that those who are gifted with great power are obligated to use those gifts to protect those weaker. Most of her youth she never understood what her father was trying to tell her, but she finally realized that he had meant that she was in fact gifted with great power and he was telling her that she was obligated to defend the weak. So her motivation is to defend and protect the weak in honor of her father who raised her to be whom and what she is. 5. What are your hero's greatest strengths and weaknesses? Valentine’s greatest strength is her deceptive size and strength. Most people who have never faced her are unsuspecting of her actual weight and strength. So when she attacks you with a flying attack, one would expect a little 40 pound girl to hit you lite and easily caught when in fact you are about to be hit with a 200 pound bowling ball. Her greatest weakness right now is overconfidence, to date she is undisputed and will haphazardly wade in to battle with little concern of how doing so can affect others around her. It is something she is still learning, we can assume when she finally faces someone more powerful than her and puts her in her place, or when the people she endangers are injured when she is in fact supposed to be protecting them she will become more conscious and aware of those around her. 6. What does your hero love? What does your hero hate? Valentine loves a good fight, whenever she is in a combat situation vivid images of her father and his teachings become clearer. It’s as close to having him back in her life as she can get so she is always up for a fight. As well she is undefeated to date so she is always looking for the one who will finally defeat her. She hates criminals, those who prey on the weak and take advantage of their power over those weaker than them. 7. How would you describe your character's mental and emotional state? Valentine has a solid foundation of mental stability; focus minded if just a little bit unaware of the rippling affects her actions can have with not in check. Her strength and enjoyment of a good fight can have damaging effects on things and to those around her. Her emotional state is a little more volatile. So much power compressed into such a small container has dangerous effects, like a steam engine, the energy needs to be released and her pressure valve bleeds off at time through short bursts of emotional explosive rage. As well, Valentine had a very close niched relationship with her father and his loss scared her. So she will actively seek out fights as she tends to get vivid memories of her father’s teachings during battle and enjoys those memories. 8. What does your hero fear the most? At this current time there is not one individual that she fears the most, but her greatest fear is innocence lost caused by her actions. As well she fears becoming one of those who needs her help losing her ability to help those 9. What is your character's greatest ambition? Valentine's greatest ambition is to be recognized as a hero, like batman or captain America. To be cheered and thanked for her heroic deeds. As well as the satisfaction of knowing she saved lives. 10. How does your hero feel about the state of the world and his/her place in it? Valentine is not one who spends a lot of time focusing on the larger scale things as the state of the world that she leaves to the big brains that have an interest in it. She feels her place is simple one who is here to protect the people one her home soil. 11. Does your hero have any prejudices? How does he/she get along with others? Valentine has no prejudices, she does occasionally feel a slight bit of spite towards those who don’t put any effort towards self-improvement for any attempt to keep themselves out of harm’s way. With some hard work and dedication towards self-improvement one can learn to defend one ’s self and help make us hero types job a little easier. In the words of Mr. Incredible “No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved! You know, for a little bit? I feel like the maid; I just cleaned up this mess! Can we keep it clean for... for ten minutes?†12. Where do your heroes loyalties lie? In what order? Loyalties: Honor, Justice, protection of the innocent. 13. Does your hero have a lover or partner? How do they feel about the hero now? There is not one individual at the moment that has landed the attention or affection of her. 14. Does your hero have a family? What is the relationship there like? Valentine was a n only child, both her parents are deceased. She does have some close friends she considers near enough to be family. Celeste, he longtime friend and sparring partner. 15. How would the people closest to your hero describe him or her? Those who are closest to her would describe her as: occasionally touchy as the oddest things can set her off for no apparent reason. A motivator, those that she is around she tends to push them to reach the most of their potential, “Give it your all of don’t bother wasting your time.†Dedicated, She always tries to lead by example, just by seeing her take initiative and putting her all into it, it makes you just feel bad to not do the same. 16. Is your hero a role model? Valentine tries her best to do what is best right and just. Protecting those around her, cleaning up teaching others to try harder for themselves as things in life are not just handed to you. And there will be a time when you get into trouble and a hero type will not be around to pull you out of the fire… 17. How spiritual is your hero? Does your hero follow a relgious tradition? Valentine had not ever taken the time to study or focus on religion, she has no stand on the subject, has no traditions and generally avoids the subject. 18. Is your hero part of a team, or would he/she like to be? Why? Valentine is still relatively new to the hero gig, she has no affiliations, never really has met any other hero types. If she was presented with an offer to team up or join a league she probably would as a way to make friends and acquaintances. Then she would not feel so alone in the world. 19. How does your hero feel about the place of metahumans and aliens on Earth? Valentine has not met any other metahumans or aliens, she is aware she is one and that she is not the only one. How she feels about their existence is balanced, those like her are great as they help to protect and keep things safe. On the other hand those like her that abuse their gifts are dangerous and should be expelled for the danger they pose to those around them. We need to prove to the humans we can make things better for them opposed to giving them something to fear and rebel against us. 20. If you could give one piece of advice to your hero, what would it be? Be more aware of your surroundings and the repercussions of your actions, you have great power and people will look to you to protect them with it, but when great power collides with great power, innocent and collateral damage occurs and that reflect negatively in the eyes of those you are trying to get to call you hero.

No, nothing like that. I’ve never had any allergies. 11. How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? I try to be as quiet as possible. I don’t know if I’m graceful, but I am coordinated. 12. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. I’m tanned, with blue eyes and dark brown hair. 13. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Short, and up. 14. Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? I’m… athletic. I don’t know if I’m pretty, but someone else seems to. 15. I don't know what famous people look like. 17. Do you have a dominant hand? I’m right-handed, but I use my left to shoot. 18. What kind of clothing do you wear? Something that’s rugged, with a lot of pockets. 19. Do you wear makeup? I know how to put on camo paint, but not any kind of makeup. 20. Is your voice distinctive in some way? It’s quiet. I don’t make noise if I don’t need to. 21. Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? I sometimes stare at people longer than I should. I’m used to observing, to looking and getting every detail of a person or situation without speaking. When it’s a social situation, though, it can make people uncomfortable. History 22. Where do you come from? I come from another version of Earth, in the Terminus. The Freedom League calls it Earth-Pastoral. 23. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? I came to live at Claremont to learn how to save my world. 24. Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? I don’t have any particular feelings about America, good or bad. I love this world I’m in now, but I don’t feel anything to just one country. 25. How do you feel about the place you come from? I hate it. Everyone’s on edge and watching, you could die or worse at any moment, and there’s never enough food or warm beds or clean water. 26. Where is your home town? What was/is it like? I never had a home town, really. I grew up in one particular group. Everyone slept in tents or lean-tos or tree blinds. 27. Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? Everyone I knew was a refugee. 28. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? I’m very good at imitating sounds, especially animal sounds. It made me a really good scout, since I could make any sort of bird call and use that to communicate. 29. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? More traumatic than growing up in the Terminus? Well, ma mere died when I was very young, but I don’t really remember it. 30. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. When I killed my first drone. It was with an arrow, from a long, long way away. Up until that moment, I wasn’t sure I could handle the job, but once I had done it once I knew I could do it more. 31. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? I fought against the planet-crushing regime of Omega and his Annhilists. Can you think of something stupider than that? 32. Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? There weren’t any real schools on my home planet. I to read and write from whoever was willing to do it at the time. When I came here I started at Claremont Academy. I… took a lot of remedial classes to catch up. 33. Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? I have a picture of ma mere, me pere, et moi from when I was still a baby. It’s just about the only way I know what my mother looks like. I also have all my piercings. Everyone is for an important thing I did. At first they were just jewelry, then I met a woman who used to live in the Ozarks and she taught me how to pierce safely. 34. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? I was always a fighter – everyone back home was, or you didn’t survive. It just didn’t feel right to come to this amazing world and stop fighting, so I became a hero. And there’s a little bit of competitiveness. I’ve never backed down from a challenge, and this is the biggest one there is. 35. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? I usually tell folks ma mere was isn’t untrue. People usually don’t treat me normal when I tell them I was a rebel guerrilla fighter in Hell. 36. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Pretty much just the Terminus thing. I can’t imagine how they would come back to haunt me. 37. Do you represent yourself as being different from whom you really are? Why? I’m a terrible liar. I wouldn’t know how to be anything but what I am. 38. If you do have these secrets, what do you fear would happen if the truth became known? How far would you go to protect those secrets? I worry that people would think I’m some sort of spy, or else they would treat me the same way they treat T-Babies. I don’t think I would do much if someone threatened to reveal my secrets, though, besides maybe asking them not to. 39. Do you have any sort of criminal record? If so, is it public knowledge? A robot duplicate of myself attacked a Congressman during the Day of Wrath, but the Freedom League has cleared me of that. I don’t have any other sort of criminal record. Family 40. What are your biological parents' names? Robert Baudin and Jean Blackfoot 41. Were you raised by them? If not, please explain and describe who raised you. Kind of? I was raised by everyone in the camp. Whoever had a job and something to teach me. 42. What was their standing in the community? What did/do they do for a living? Me pere used to be a circus acrobat, then he became a thief and an escape artist. Ma mere used to be a lawyer for the natives, but she was also Lady Liberty. 43. Where are your parents now? Me pere still leads the Resistance on my home planet. Ma mere used to be the last superhuman left to us, but she was killed by one the Steam General’s war machines. 44. Did your family stay in one area or move around a lot? Everyone moved around, unless you were one of the General’s slaves. 45. How did you get along with their parents? How do you get along with them now (if applicable). Ma mere was never a person I was close to. I don’t think anyone was, I just remember her as being so angry about everything. Me pere always tried to make time for me, but he was always so busy, too. 46. How do your parents view you now, or how would they? I hope they are proud of me. I am fighting to save my world. 47. Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. I am an only child. 48. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? When I was younger, I used to think that I hated my mother. Now that she’s gone, I think it was just because I didn’t know her at all. 49. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? Uncle Rory was the camp’s fletcher, and the one who made my first bow. It was undersized because I was very young, but it meant a lot to me. 50. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. Everyone in my family is remarkable. Ma mere helped her native tribesmen against the governments trying to expand westward and she fought supervillains. Me pere was a world-class thief and escape artist before he went on to lead a resistance against Omega and the Steam General, and I went to a different world, to the place where Omega was wounded and driven back, to learn how to be a hero. 51. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. With my parents, everyone expected more of me. That is part of why I push myself so hard, so that I can be worthy of being my parents’ child. 52. Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. Right now I have a sort of a thing with Sam Vance. She is… nothing like me, except we’re both sneaky. She’s not muscular and I don’t think she knows the first thing about camping, but she always finds ways to surprise me. 53. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? Well I’m not going to have kids with Sam, that’s for sure. I don’t know if I do want kids. I’m not used to thinking that far ahead. 54. What type of person would be your ideal mate? Someone who can challenge me. Someone who can take care of themselves. Someone who doesn’t need me around all the time, but someone that I can do things with. Relationships 55. Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. Mali Benjawan, Cerys Pefr, and Sam Vance. They were some of the first people I met when I came to Claremont. 56. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? I’m close all three women. They all knew I wasn’t like other girls, so they took me out… they called it ‘clubbing,’ but the fight we got in was all punches. 57. If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? The three above, for certain, and probably Headmaster Summers. 58. Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? Not like you mean. I’ve lost lots of people that I love, but no one that I loved like that. 59. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. I hate the Steam General and I want to see him dead before my feet. He’s the Annihilist who betrayed and took over my world, and is now trying to turn everyone on the planet into machines. 60. If you have enemies, how do you think they might attempt to work against you in the future? I don’t think he can get to me on this Earth, but he could easily kill everyone I know on my home planet. 61. What is the worst thing someone has done to you? He killed my mother. 62. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? In order? With my planet, with my friends and family, and with this world’s innocents. 63. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? Mali. More than anyone else, I trust Mali. She knows what it’s like to fight every day with not superpowers, and I think she knows what it’s like to be an outsider. 64. Who or what do you despise? Why? Besides the Steam General, I hate the Curator. He created a robot version of me and attacked my friends with it. That thing could have killed my family and I wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it. 65. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? I like people who can take care of themselves, no matter the situation. I think I can do it. I also like people who… well, I call it cheating. Other people call it lateral thinking or thinking outside the box. 66. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? People who only use their power to help themselves and hurt others. I can’t stand people who only live for themselves. I am sure that I don’t do that, since I spend all night helping others. 67. Do you have a secret identity? If so, who knows it? Do you hide it from people who are close to you? Why? Most people do not know I am Blue Jay. People at Claremont Academy and the Freedom League know, but beyond that no one else does. 68. Do you work well on teams and in groups? Are you a leader or a follower? I work well enough when I’m given a task that I can do on my own. I don’t work well when I’m supposed to work closely with other people. 69. Are you on a super team? If so, how do you get along with your comrades? Do you trust them, or do you have secrets from them? I’m not on any sort of super team. 70. Are you a member of any church, fraternal organization, club, committee, political party, or other group? How much time do you spend on that? I exercise with a lot of other people at the Claremont gym, but I’m not part of any sort of club. Personality & Beliefs 71. Who are your heroes? Me pere. He’s fought so hard against the Steam General, and with no end in sight. 72. Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? I haven’t seen my father for two years. When I left he was still fighting the good fight and I expect he still will be. 73. Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? I love it. Every day it’s a new challenge. 74. Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? Switch sides? No. Stop? Maybe if I was hurt enough that I couldn’t fight anymore. 75. What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? Graduate Claremont Academy. Free my planet. 76. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? I don’t think that far ahead, really. Live on my own, find multiple, redundant sources for gear. Maybe go on the road; I’d like to see a desert or rainforest before I die. 77. What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? I’m not scared of anything special. Living in the Terminus kills your fear. 78. Is there anything you would give your life for? My family. My friends. My planet. 79. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? Money is boring. Claremont Academy gives me whatever I need to live on. If I needed more, I could ask Kit for money, but I don’t really need a lot of stuff. Folks who focus only on money need to get a life. 80. How do you generally treat others? If people want to be treated specially, they need to prove that they are special. 81. Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? In the Terminus, if you weren’t part of my group, you were suspicious. It was a survival tactic. I still keep to it. 82. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? I am quiet. I’m not shy, I just don’t like talking if I don’t need to. I have plenty of confidence in what I do, though. 83. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? Around men, I can be pretty forward. Apparently around girls, I just stare at their butt until someone pushes up together. 84. What are your most annoying habits? Besides the staring thing? I don’t like to do things the easy way. Sometimes I’ll make things more complicated then they have to be, just so they’re more interesting to me. 85. Do you feel contempt for any general category of people? Who are they, and why? People who give up. Fighting can be hard, but you have to do it. If you just give up and accept what happens, I have no pity for you. 86. What is your favorite food? Do you prefer any particular type of food? Do you take the time to enjoy your food, or do you eat as fast as you can? I like fresh, natural food. Fruit right off the vines, vegetables straight out of the ground. The fresher, the better. 87. What is your favorite drink (alcoholic or otherwise)? People think I’m crazy, but water. If you do it right, fresh, cold water can be the best-tasting thing in the world. 88. What is your favorite treat (dessert)? I… really like fruit pies. Not with ice cream or anything, just warm pie. 89. Are there any specific foodstuffs that you find disgusting or refuse to eat? Stuff out of vending machines, and a lot of processed foods. It’s just weird that you pump so many chemicals into something you’re going to eat. 90. What is your favorite color? Are there any colors you dislike? I really like green. Dark, forest-y greens especially. 91. What sort of music do you like? Any music that’s loud enough that you can’t hear me when I’m singing it. 92. If you have a favorite scent, what is it? Green, living, growing things. Anything like that scent brings back good memories. 93. Do you have a favorite animal? Any kind of bird. On my home planet they were all dead by the time I was born, but I heard stories about them and they seemed magical. 94. What is your most treasured possession? Why? An arrow with a computronium head. I made it myself when I was abducted by the Curator, and I put one in his metal skull. 95. Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts? Love camping, being outdoors, sleeping under the stars. 96. Is there a job or a task you would absolutely refuse to do? No, but I might complain while I do it. 97. Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? I’m a practical person. If gods and spirits are a practical concern, I’ll deal with them then. Otherwise, no. 98. Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? When I was young, all the stories about gods and spirits ended up with them dying to the Terminus. I guess everyone influenced me there. 99. Could you kill? Have you killed? I could. I have. 100. What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? When someone is being dragged away to be turned into an Omegadrone, it’s kinder to kill them to have to face them again. 101. Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? When it’s crueler to keep someone alive, I would agree with killing them. Of course here, it’s harder to find a situation where things definitely will not get better. 102. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Would your reaction be different if the killer was a friend or an enemy of yours? I might respect someone more if they were able to kill someone who was more powerful than them. But if they killed someone close to me, I’d want revenge. 103. How would you react if something important was stolen from you? I try not to place a lot of importance on things, but there are a few things I wouldn’t want to lose. I would try to talk to the thief, and if that didn’t work I would have to steal it back. 104. How would you react to public humiliation? I’ve been publically humiliated before, by the Curator. Ask people about the Day of Wrath. The only thing I could do was work against it. Show people that I’m not really like that. 105. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Has it happened to you? It has happened to me, yes. I mourn them, and I get revenge. 106. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? Misleading someone. Not just lying to them, but letting them think you are entirely different from what you really are. 107. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? Go on a final camping trip with the people I love. Say goodbye to me pere or write a letter to him. Give the important things away. Flip off the Terminus one last time. And find my own way to end it, before the deadline was up. Career & Training 108. Do you have any special training in your hero skills? If so, where and how did you get it? Special? Everything I can do, someone else can learn to do, but most people don’t put as much time into it as I do. 109. Who taught you the most about your heroing abilities? What was your relationship with that person? Lots of people taught me different skills that I use. They were all like family to me. 110. Do you have any particularly unusual skills? How did you acquire them? I can track and live in the wilderness better than I can in the city. I lived in forests, and on the run, for most of my life. 111. Do you do something besides hero work for a living? Have you ever done anything else, or do you plan to? No, I pretty much am just a hero. I don’t know if I could do something else. I don’t want to sit in an office all day, I want to be outside and working with my hands. 112. What is your preferred combat style? Anything that works. I know a little krav maga, a little muay thai, and a little basic self-defense, but mostly I just try to get away and get back to arrow-launching range. 113. Have you ever received any awards or honors? I survived the Terminus, I think that’s enough of an award. 114. What skill areas would you like most to improve in? Is there anything you can't do that you wish desperately you could? I should probably learn more about computers and stuff like that. Sometimes, I wish I could fly or teleport around or jump like [Leaping hero]. Just so I can get around this huge city more easily. 115. How do you act around people who are more skilled than you in areas you'd like to improve? Are you jealous, or do you try and learn? Of course I get jealous, but that doesn’t help me get better. I’m always willing to learn if they have something to teach me. Lifestyle & Hobbies 116. What is a normal day for you? How do you feel when something interrupts this routine? I get up early, with the sun or just before it. I do a few laps around the campus to wake up, then get to the gym and lift weights or do some tension exercises. Then I get a shower and get to class. After class either I’ll do homework and patrol in the evening, or if someone’s going out right away I’ll patrol with them in the afternoon and do homework after dinner. I like to get in the Doom Room at least once over the weekend. When something interrupts me, I try to deal with it and get back to my schedule, but it’s not really important that every day is that planned. As long as I get my work done and don’t fall behind, I can deal with interruptions. 117. Do you have any hobbies, or interests outside hero work? What are they? I would say that I like hunting and camping, but that’s what I do as a hero, anyway. 118. What do you do for fun? I train. I run scenarios in the Doom Room. Sometimes I hang out or watch movies. 119. Do you have a costume? What does it look like? I usually just wear the Claremont Academy outfit, with a special mask that gives me a bunch of extra senses. 120. How do you normally dress when not in costume? Khakis with a lot of pockets, tee-shirt, a loose jacket or hoodie. 121. What do you wear to bed most nights? Whatever I was wearing when I got tired. If I take a shower beforehand, sometimes I’ll put on sweats first, though. 122. Do you wear any special jewelry? What is it, and what does it look like? Lots and lots of piercings. They’re all from my home planet, from special trees that grow there. They are old hardwoods, but there’s also metal worked in there, into the grain of the wood. There’s also a pendent Sam bought me. It’s supposed to be a blue bird in flight, with stained glass for the wings and feathers, but it got melted on the Day of Wrath. I still have it, because I don’t know if it’s better to get rid of it and forget about that day or keep it and torture myself. 123. Do you have a special place where you keep your valuables? In my room at Claremont. Really valuable stuff I carry around. 124. What's your preferred means of local travel? How about long distance? My preference is always walking. Walking can get you anywhere, if you have enough time. I don’t really like cars or trains, they go too fast. I really, really hate airplanes or anything else that gets me off the ground. Miscellaneous 125. Have you ever made a will, or tried to make arrangements for your death? What provisions did you make? Nothing like that, no. 126. If your features were to be destroyed beyond recognition, is there any other way of identifying your body? I have a few piercings that aren’t on my face, yes. 127. What would you like to be remembered for after your death? For saving my people, and for being a great warrior. 128. Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? I never thought I did, but the Day of Wrath proved that I could do a lot of damage if I had the chance to. 129. What do you perceive as your greatest strength? I have skills and experience that no one else does. People talk about training from Hell, but I literally lived there. 130. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? I know basically nothing about computers and other toys like that. I usually get along, but sometimes it can trip me up. 131. As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed your advice... Don’t get so hung up on your past. Learn to live here, in this world, and let the past stay in the past.
