Player Name: Arichamus Character Name: Red Moon Power Level: 11 (168/174PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 6 In Brief: A Farsider scientist and one-time spy against humanity who accidentally transformed herself into a vampire. Alternate Identity: Atraxia Falkaet Identity: Secret, her history and nature are anything but obvious or common knowledge. Birthplace: Farside City, the Moon Occupation: Preserver technology researcher, superheroine, Affiliations: Farsiders, Truth, Family: (Seda)Mother and (Placil)father(deceased), 3 sisters and brothers. Description: Age: 67 (DoB: 1929 ) Apparent Age: 20, age at transformation. Gender: Female Ethnicity: Farsider Height: 6ft. 2in. Weight: 80Lbs., 120lbs. with the terrasuit Device. Eyes: Icy blue Hair: Black Atraxia outside her specialized costume is a towering and spidery woman with black hair streaked with white, and unblinking eyes that are solid white save for a blue core where the pupil ought to be. Her skin is so pale that the dried, blackened veins and shriveled muscles under it are clearly visible, and it is pulled taut around her bones, producing a singularly morbid appearance. The fangs and claw-like hands don't help, and the harshly croaking voice seals the ugly effect. The 'terrasuit' she wears does a great deal to hide this, a grey & red mostly skin-tight affair filled out to resemble a normal example of her kind, with a large, opaquely-black helmet covering her head and allowing her to see without being exposed to ultraviolet radiation or the eyes of others. It is studded with small pouches and pockets to accommodate its wearer's impulsive tendency to collect samples of things. Power Descriptions: (Descriptors: Psionic, Mutation) After being blasted by her attempted recreation of the mysterious Moon Stone, Atraxia's body was effectively killed at the same time her soul(or psychic expression) was partially released from it. As a result, she is basically a ghost possessing her deceased body out of both a lack of desire and power to leave it and the desperate hope that this can be permanently reversed somehow. This had the side-effect of unlocking her bizarre latent mutations: the power to attack a living being's soul by partially transferring herself to another dimension(currently she is unaware that this is the realm of Earth-bound spirits), the power to make herself all-but impossible for the unaided eye or ear to observe her as well as being difficult for psychics to detect, a paralytic toxin secreted in her fangs, and the ability to fly through walls, scale any surface, and walk without leaving a trace and temporarily turn her mass into coherent energy for space-flight. Her eyes can penetrate almost any attempt to deceive her, and she has a weak power to tell if psychics are nearby. Her terrasuit has a built-in translator that enables her to speak and understand any language spoken around her, though its power to translate the written word is a work in progress. The program gives her a slightly more normal voice, though it injures that by the breathy translation and disconcerting background noise. Her transformation has not been without ill effects(Atraxia being of the opinion that ALL of the effects it has had are ill), mainly that now she has to contend with dead nerves, the knowledge that if she reveals herself to the light of any sun she will be burned to ashes, an all-consuming need to drink blood. History: One of the rare children of Farside City to take an active interest in their austere metropolis, Atraxia developed at a young age into a remarkably adept physicist and engineer, particularly intrigued by the Moonstone, the Preserver artifact(or discovery) that maintained their quiet, peaceful world. In this time of the former king and queen of Farside City, such experimentation was welcomed and the woman was given all the help and equipment she could need. Attempting to discover more about the energy radiating from the chunk of crystal, the Farsider attempted to re-create the object using Lunar science, deciphering the long-lost language of the Preservers in the course of her research. When the replica was complete, Atraxia activated it, triggering a devastating reaction. She, somehow, survived the surge of power but was horribly twisted by exposure to the radiation, transformed into a pseudo-energy being shackled to a bloodthirsty, monstrous corpse. After years of experimentation and failure to return herself to normal, Atraxia exiled herself from Farside City, unwilling to live as she was. On her lonely trek to the near side of the Moon, hoping to burn herself in the sunlight, she stumbled upon a cave system on the lip of the Farside crater. Within she found elaborate pictograms and carvings detailing the miseries of what she realized were creatures just like herself. In ages past, others had attempted to unlock the secrets of the Moonstone, all either killed or hideously changed. Even while reeling from the shock, Atraxia was puzzled: why had she never heard about this? Why hadn't the king and queen known or warned her? But that was brushed aside. She wasn't a freak but the logical conclusion of interacting forces, and it was her duty to find out as much as she could about this new state, for the good of all who might suffer like her! Pushing to the limits her new powers, she spent months testing her body, her new senses and all the ways they intersected. At last, sure she had gotten as far as she could without the right tools, she returned to Farside City. She found it under the reign of the maddened Princess Selene. While immune to the princess' new powers and more than a match for her army, Atraxia's transformation was still her weakness. Selene offered her a cure that the royal physicians had been working on in exchange for her service and loyalty. The sensation of normalcy after years of being a monster was more than enough to sway the scientist. But the 'cure' was only temporary, and as her body began to dessicate again the promise of more doses and Selene's harping on the violent and rapacious nature of the humans was enough to win over Atraxia, every inch the respectable, peaceable Farsider. Throughout the 1970's and 80's, the lunar vampire was kept busy spying on humanity's movements, slipping through walls to read plans, listening invisibly to conversations and gathering reams of data. However, she was forbidden to attack anyone both as a means of control over where she got her vital blood and to keep her tracks clean. Thus, when Prince Mentac returned with his Atom Family and defeated his sister and her followers, the harmless record and pitiable story of the vampire was enough to get her a royal (if grudging) pardon. After doing her part to repair Farside City and even improve some parts of it, Atraxia struggled with conflicting desires as she moved to the caves outside her old home. She longed to get away from her past and explore the universe, especially given her natural ability to move faster-than-light, but the lingering homebody tendencies of Preserver conditioning and the pull of her duty to future scientists risking their lives to explore the Moonstone won out. Earth's vampire menace and and wealth of weirdness, her constant work improving her Moon base and work (via correspondence) with Farside scientists keeps her busy as her long unlife plays out, searching tirelessly for answers. Personality & Motivation: Atraxia was never what one would call a people person. The focus of her life's work was almost always on things, how they work and what they do. Years alone and then working as a spy did nothing for her social skills, leaving her quick-tempered and prone to speaking impulsively when not sullenly holding her tongue. She is deeply self-conscious about her condition and does all she can to disguise what she really is from others. The mysterious, complicated place that Earth has proven to be piques her interest, but as a thing to be studied and understood before anything else. When meeting others for the first time they get to experience the joys of a suspicious and haltingly-spoken woman who feels deeply ill-used by the world. Despite all that Axtraxia is earnestly committed to trying to help make the human's world a better place in any way she can, and doesn't hesitate for an instant if there seems to be anything of use she can do. The mystical villains that "exploit the superstition of the ignorant" are to her mind the primary obstacles to human progress, and she devotes herself to combating them. Powers & Tactics: Sneaking up behind someone and hitting them from surprise is the only combat tactic Red Moon knows, so she does that. Complications: Enemy: Lady Lunar Habit: Needs blood plasmas to keep at the level of health she considers normal. As well, suffers cravings for it. Myth...busted?: Driven to try and disprove magic and magic-related phenomena as anything but entirely misunderstood 'normal' forces. Reputation: Willing collaborator with the Moon's despot. GM Dec 5th, 5.48 AM, Freedom City Junior Ballet "Special delivery, special delivery!" A young man, not yet in his twenties, just off his bicycle, came into the practice hall waving an envelope. It was a chilly day, but he was sweating. Part of it, surely, from a morning of bicycling, but perhaps coming into a hall full of lithe women stretching might also excite his inexperienced hormones. He tried not to look too much, and read out the address on the envelope. "Miss Cor-reen Conrad? Miss Correen Correen Con-rad?" he blurted, looking around without trying to let his eyes linger on any one form in particular. A few dancers gave a little laugh at his glowing cheeks. The envelope in question looked rather old, and had elegant inked handwriting on. It felt, and indeed was, rather antique.

GM The Totality. The Solar Eclipse. Happens all the time, but why focus on it now? It has some magical significance for the Yellow Sign. Something about the Pact being weaker? Who knows, those guys are nuts. While they're being dealt with by other heroes, we focus on our daily life in Freedom City. Heroes with equally important tasks. Grimalkin, fae hero of great power. Spitfire, twisted firestarter. Red Moon, 'vampire'. Scion, former Olympian goddess. Going about their days as usual. Maybe they're fighting crime. Maybe they're trying to watch the eclipse (Good luck, only 70ish percent in New Jersey!)

GM Coalition Victory Station The Shift Work Bar, Brickstown March 24, 2017 (Terran Calendar) The Shift Work was hardly the most upstanding establishment. Tucked right in the heart of Brickstown the bar was an easy stop off for the various workers in the manufacturing plants of this part of the station. The patrons were mostly honest working people, looking for a place to rest after a long day's work. Some of course were looking to do a little more, get into fights or get drunk on cheaper and stronger stuff than you could find in plenty of other places in Lor space. People from around the galaxy, people who were in danger of this new menace. The disappearances had been getting worse. More and more people were vanishing or else being found dead. All of them were either drained of blood or they were left flash frozen. Rumors were that some metropolis on Earth, millions of light years away was facing a similar problem. There was an air of unease at the Shift Work. Two patrons had been last seen leaving this bar. In one corner a patron watched the bar, waiting. A Green Xobron, an uncommon sight in this part of the galaxy. His two pairs of arms were folded as he slowly used one of his tails to raise a drink to his lips. Life goes on, no matter how hard someone tries to stop it. Gear thought to himself, it was inspiring. The killings had felt odd, and targeting those who would have little impact on the galaxy, the tell tale mark of a time criminal. He would know. So he waited, and watched, for something that felt off.

March 1st, 2016, 2.03 AM (AST) The Warrens, West wall of Farside Crater, the dark side of the Moon, Sol System At all times the caves felt empty. The walls were covered in ornate and sophisticated technology, the floors often interrupted by sweeping, elegant examples of Farsider engineering, normally the squared tunnels blazed with light, but the silence of the vacuum and the blackness of deactivation made it all feel like a very elaborate stage, not a place that anyone could live in. As she materialized on the teleportation dais, clutching her precious cargo, Atraxia looked at the motionless, austere world around her with a swell of pride. As the last of the blue-gold shimmers of recoherence faded, the dead Farsider straightened up, free of the oppressive grip of Olderth gravity, and flew, pausing only briefly to verify her identity to the monitoring system. At once, the rest of the power cells kicked in, and the world changed. As Atraxia sped like a dark arrow through the now brilliantly-lit tunnels, she relaxed at last, grip loosening on the container still closely held against her black and red terrasuit. Inside, something pale writhed against magno-gravitic bonds, something which could make a corpse's eyes glitter with curiosity and delight. It had been years since it had fallen to Olderth's surface and somehow, despite all odds and the high price the governments of the planet would place on it, she was the first to recover it. One piece, all hers. Coming at last to the doors of her laboratory, the Farsider reached out a spindly arm, sinking it into an adjacent aperture. She felt mechanisms inside remove the sleeve of her 'suit, and then nothing. With a tone that she had spent days perfecting, wasted on the acrid void, the door spiraled open, revealing a dizzying wonderland of intricate tools, specimens in myriad rainbows of solutions and nutrient baths, plodding simulations, readouts describing in exhaustive detail every action of every molecule of their given subject. It was a pleasure to step inside, to let the door cycle shut, blocking out the messy world and step into one of harmony and direction. Taking the cylinder of silver gold to a spare section of her exotic containment module, Atraxia slid the thing into place, tested the field inside with a flick of her dead wrist and a flicker of her blank blue eyes to a crystalline guage, and taking a breath of useless air injected the Gorgon shard into its new home. At once the inchoate mass of consuming, imprisoning nanites tried to break free, twisting and distorting as it tried to get a grip on something solid enough to entomb and ossify, but repulsed by a shifting stream of energy waves it could do little but fall into a pattern of outgrowth, collapse and regrowth. Staring in a moment's gleeful awe at the mass of miniscule robots that would have rapidly reduced her and her home to a petrified state, the vampire quickly recovered herself and settled in to examine her find. Hunching over a translucent display, she absently thumbed a button that unfolded a nearby section of wall, offering a fresh canister of cloned blood. Swapping it with the empty one in her 'suit, the vampire felt her cares and stress wash away under the soothing quasi-sensation of revitalization, the new blood spreading through her withered veins and pumping into her wrinkled skull. For all that, she was as motionless as a statue, as a part of the high-tech furniture, as the silent walls and tunnels of the deathly-still Warrens. In moments, it was just her and the data, the rest of the universe and its inhabitants a distant fifth concern. As were the facts that matter-transit signals could be tracked, and that maybe, just maybe, somebody else might want what she'd found.

GM January 25th, 11.45 AM, Saturday, 2014, A.S.T.R.O. Labs, Reception Hall The unveiling of the Nucleic Reorganization Field Emitter was a lot more enthusiastic than the name would have suggested. But then, just about any public revelation from the busy corner of super-science usually heralded something extraordinary, whether it was some miraculous way to purify polluted water, direct the growth of plant-life or just a simple fusion-powered jetpack, and a clear sign that the world was changing all around the world, starting right there in Freedom City. The reception hall of the austere modern-style building thronged with those who had asked or been asked to attend, mostly businessmen and businesswoman, entrepreneurs, news-anchors and reporters. Over the Labs' main doors a broad banner was unfurled, those in the know glancing up at its familiar sleek edging and art-deco typeface with a smile of recognition, and at the words "A Gift to Humanity...Revealed!". The stairs outside for several steps were packed as well, and those unfortunate enough to be caught out in the cold shivered in thick coats and sipped gratefully at hot drinks while several of the more news-hungry guests performed impromptu interviews. Those inside had something very different to think about. "Yes, as you can see, ladies and gentlemen" said the trim, needle-like Prof. M. Cavesson, all crisp courtesy behind his thin glasses and snowy-white bread that matched his stark white suit, his soft, rolling voice reaching the entire front hall packed with unusually patient and calm reporters, cameraman and photographers, all of whom were relieved and a little smug that they didn't have to stand out in the cold waiting for "the applications of the Emitter are as boundless as they are humanitarian. With this, we can clean up radiation leak from nuclear reactors, like the prototype used in the after-effects of the Fukushima catastrophe in 2011, making the land and, air and water safe for human life within weeks and months rather than milennia. It doesn't stop there, either," he added, real excitement straining against his professionally-level tone "we are, ladies and gentlemen, looking at a real chance of reversing the effects of zero-gravity sickness, the horrendous effects of prions in the brain, maybe even, once we've perfected the reorganization process on living material, recover flesh lost to leprosy before that disease's total eradication!" The assembled newshounds and high-profile visitors clapped with polite enthusiasm, a few whistles ringing out from the back rows, but the eager grins on nearly every face showed that the sentiment was far from false. Swelling with pride, Cavesson stepped back and swung open the doors to the main floor, re-purposed especially for the day's revelation. Hanging from the ceiling's many arching steel beams were red, blue and gold banners celebrating the names of several patrons(including Daedalus) and companies(including Grant Conglomerate and the Rhoseus Corporation). Around the room were a series of blackboards crammed with equations and artistic depictions of molecules being recombined and reconfigured, while standing beside them were around a dozen nervous-looking lab technicians, many of whom stiffened in mild panic at the sudden invasion. In contrast to the hubbub surrounding it, the Nucleic Reorganization Field Emitter was a very refined-looking instrument, a tall pedestal under the generous Main Hall skylight bearing the apparatus of three slender blue rods as long as a full-grown man attached at their summit to a curved dish like a satellite. "This, I tell you," said Prof. Cavesson with a grin "heralds a brighter tomorrow! With it, why, we might even be able to permanently cure poor souls like Adam Ward, so-called Gamma 'the Atom-Smasher', or drain the poisonous radiation from Hiroshima Shadow..." As he spoke a gaggle of students from universities a few miles away to across the Atlantic piled in, some excitedly hurrying off to interrogate a like mind in a freshly-ironed lab coat, others remaining in gaggles to commiserate over how much of a pain the trip was. There were, of course, exceptions. And a few unexpected eyes...
