RoboLawyer3000 Power Level: 10 (150 PP) Unspent Power Points: - 0 Trade-Offs: N/A In Brief: Surreal robot lawyer and plot device to get the PCs out of one kind of trouble and into another. Alternate Identity: N/A Birthplace: N/A assembled at AstraNet Robotics Residence: Offices of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe, Freedom City Occupation: Lawyer Affiliations: Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe, AAL Family: N/A Description: Age: N/A – Current version assembled April 1, 2022 Gender: None – vaguely male in proportions Ethnicity: Robot Height: 6'1" Weight: 800 lbs Eyes: Black with white centers Hair: None RoboLawyer3000 is obviously a robot. It’s exterior is formed of silvery metal plates. It is always attired in a matched suit, wearing a tie, and in formal shoes. It is loosely male in its proportions. It moves with an unhurried, silent precision, typically in the normal human range of motion, although extenuating circumstances may cause it to adapt postures unnatural (even lethal) to normal humans. RoboLawyer3000 speaks with a calm, pleasant, but subtly authoritative voice that sounds almost human, but not quite. RoboLawyer3000 interacts with the heroes for a very specific purpose and does so with impressively adaptive expertise. On the other hand, attempts to engage with RoboLawyer3000 on topics not germane to its mission are likely to result in a complete absence of response from the robot. RoboLawyer3000 typically arrives in a sensible luxury sedan. When RoboLawyer3000 arrives on the scene, extensive preparations for the hero’s exoneration and release have typically already been made, although, it is possible RoboLawyer3000 will have to make an argument to legal authorities to complete this process. It informs the PCs of their release from liability, informs them of the conditions they have to satisfy to enjoy this indemnity, makes any additional material arrangements necessary for the PC’s success, and then leaves with just as much surreality as it arrived with. History: RoboLawyer3000 is developed by AstraNet Robotics and operates under a contracted agreement with the legal firm of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe. The program includes extensive field testing of the unit, but DCH is also in position to hire out RoboLawyer3000 to clientele requiring the specific services of a robotic attorney at a hefty premium. The unit began full operation with DCH in Freedom City on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Notably, on September 6, 2023, RoboLawyer3000 was deployed to complete the exoneration of Consuelo Nunez, aka the superhero “Rot” who had been arrested by Freedom City Police after causing extensive property damage at a firearms dealership she claimed was supplying guns to criminals, but could provide no proof of such accusations. Personality & Motivation: RoboLawyer3000 is nothing if not inscrutable and surreal. It is strictly to task. However, it is also very polite and accommodating within its mission. Its speech is formal, but minimalist, yet thorough. It is programmed to successfully communicate in several languages and with an extreme variety of personality types. It has the rough appearance of a mild-mannered lawyer, although it is obviously robotic. It has no emotions, and can never become scared, frustrated, angry, etc. The safety of its clients is of paramount importance. It will default to keeping itself in impeccable working order and cleanliness, but it will not hesitate to physically inconvenience itself, up to and including its capture or physical destruction, to protect its charge. RoboLawyer3000 typically operates from a position of advantage, with elaborate preparations having already taken place prior to it entering the scene. Powers & Tactics: Robolawyer3000 effects legal maneuvers; it does not fight physical battles. RoboLawyer3000 is typically deployed only in circumstances when the office of Dewey, Cheatham, and Howe has made all the necessary arrangements to support its success in the mission. Power Descriptions: RoboLawyer3000 is a robotic lawyer. It can lie, persuade, file motions, argue cases, drive a luxury sedan, and be an 800 pound automated hunk of metal. It is programmed to advocate and defend, but it is entirely incapable of making a physical attack. Complications: Limited to Program: RoboLawyer3000 is extremely well programmed to be a robotic lawyer. But anything out of it’s programming is entirely beyond it to respond to. Not Cheap: What’s worse than shelling out to your lawyer for billable hours? Financing a multi-billion dollar robotic attorney program. RoboLawyer3000 is only deployed in those rare situations that truly call for a robotic lawyer, or in cases termed to be useful to test its abilities. That would all change if it were ever mass-produced though. . . .
