Do believe everyone's appropriately tagged. Chime in if you like. Should mention, the gathering under the tree is supposed to be all the ladies. Though, if you've got a better entrance, use it.

There had been a spate of small power outages over the past several days. A slice of Freedom’s grid would blink off for as much as five seconds before blinking back on. A few blocks of one would go out, then come back. Then an entirely different neighborhood. The Fens. Lantern Hill. Southside. Lincoln. Even Bayview and Port Regal managed to get in on the act once or twice. It was weird, but Freedomites didn’t pay a lot of attention to it. It happened mostly in the dead of night. The power company said it’s nothing. More interesting things happened on a literally daily basis. And so on. Until Claremont Academy’s power “blinked†for the third total time, no one had taken much interest in the happenings at all. November 21, 2014. Claremont Academy. 11:45 PM It was a dark and stormy night. No, seriously. There was a pretty good thunderstorm going on in the skies of Freedom. Vonnie would normally be asleep by now. Class in the morning, and all that. But today was sweet, glorious Friday. He and LJ could text each other all night long. Or he could stealth over into the girls’ dorm and spend the night. His roommate slept like the dead, and her roomie slept like a rock. Or was one. LJ couldn’t tell, and Vonnie didn’t care enough to find out for himself. Yep, he was going over there and d#$% the consequences if he got caught. He strapped on his grapples, opened his window, and leapt out into space. A short grapple and climb sequence later, he was at her window. Wet and a bit windblown, but there. A few soft knocks after that, he was in her room and they were both sitting on her bed. Huh. Her roomie both slept like and was kind a rock. That was when the power “blinkedâ€. Somehow just short enough of an outage that the emergency power didn’t trigger and come on. Vonnie sighed. Third time in three days? His “this is a job for Samaritan†sense was tingling. LJ had a similar sense and gave him the “just go already†look. They started having a conversation based entirely on specific looks. <But he didn’t know where to start. Also pressing business here, yes?> <Vonnie, you know better.> Vonnie sighed quietly. “It’s not like New York. I was always first there. But there’s so many heroes in town, now I’m lucky if I’m fifth. I don’t know. I just feel kinda…extra, you know? Like I’m not needed, because someone else will always handle it.†LJ nodded. “So that’s why you’ve been patrolling less lately.†She grew thoughtful. Then she plucked him in the head. “Ow. What was that for?†“You’re overthinking stuff again. You’re not there for the dozen, hundred, thousand or more that don’t need you. You’re there for the one that does. Don’t give up so easy. It’s not like you.†Vonnie stood up. “Alright. But I’m telling you, somebody’s already on this. Probably have it sorted out before I even figure out what’s going on.†On that note, he opened LJ’s window and leaped out. Back in his own room, he grabbed his mask, shirt, and black hooded windbreaker(as his roomie continued sleeping like the dead) and made the most undramatic change from Vonnie Murray into Samaritan. Mask & shirt on. Jacket on, zipped up tight and hood up. This time, though, he’d go out the front door like a normal person. Yes indeed. Being just about the fastest non-speedster on campus did have its perks. He was out of the building before anyone had the chance to realize he was gone. He made it to the Gardens before running into anyone. He thought he recognized some of the group assembled under that big tree, if not all of them. He stripped off the mask, stuffed it into a jacket pocket, and pulled his hood tighter. “Hello?â€

Miller Park, The Fen’s Freedom City 23rd February 2015, 10:00 am The small rather grotty park on the edge of the fen’s had a rather dubious distinction for the kind of people that inhabited the park through the night. BUt the local inhabitants had had enough and were trying to improve the reputation of the area and it started by cleaning up the area. Several of the cities largest companies had donated money towards the project and several organizations had donated their time including several school, Claremont being one of them. As part of you Social Responsibility class you’ve all been bused in to spend the morning cleaning up trash, not the most exciting of events but at least it get’s you out of the classroom.

Player Name: horngeek Character Name: Shiranui (ä¸çŸ¥ç«) Power Level: 7 (107/109PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 2 Progress To Bronze Status: 4/30 In Brief: Young Japanese immigrant to America who's unknowingly become the host of Amaterasu herself. Alternate Identity: Haruko Miyamoto Identity: Secret Birthplace: Japan Occupation: Student Affiliations: Kami (Unknown) Family: Father (Daisuke Miyamoto), Mother (Hinata Miyamoto) Description: Age: 16 Apparent Age: 16 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Japanese Height: 5'2" Weight: 120 lb Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Haruko is, in many ways, a fairly typical Japanese teenager (if a rather pretty one). She's fairly short in America, with a build that is fairly slender, and normally keeps her back-length hair back with a headband. Her fair skin and brown eyes complete the picture. When in 'civilian' outfits, she again dresses fairly typically. She's got the sort of face that doesn't actually need all that much makeup, but she generally wears clothing that is comfortable yet still fashionable. {Costume to be determined} Power Descriptions: Shiranui's powers are quite simple in their visuals, as a matter of fact- they all involve light, of the sort that looks like it might come from the sun. Whether warm and slightly comforting, or burning hot, there's very little variation. History: Sometimes, the acts of gods, wise (and not-so-wise) mages, and hate-twisted spirits come together in the strangest way. This would be one of those times... but where to begin the tale. Perhaps you could begin it with telling about the life of Haruko Miyamoto, the daughter of a businessman who came to America to work in Freedom City for his company back in Japan. But while every life is interesting... Perhaps the more relevant tale would be that of Hiroshima Shadow, and the goddess Amaterasu. The demon born of a man-made sun had always had the desire to supplant the kami of the Sun- although in years past, she always planned this in terms of supplanting Amaterasu in the minds of the people. In more recent times, however, she (through a series of events) came to join the Crime League, fighting by their side... And the Crime League made options available that the Shadow could not pursue on her own. More... direct means. And an idea formed. Oh, it took time. Medea's own antipathy towards her own gods likely had an influence. And... where were the gods when the bombs fell, hmm? Maybe her supplanting of Amaterasu should be a little more... literal. A little questioning towards Medea confirmed that what she was planning was, indeed, possible. The sorceress was quite willing to give out information in this matter, although when it came time, she was engaged with her own projects. She did, however, point Hiroshima Shadow towards someone who might well be able to do the task. Pull Amaterasu down to the mortal realm... and just as importantly, make her oh so vulnerable. Finally, the night came. The ritual was prepared, and Hiroshima Shadow waited with eager breath to take Amaterasu's power. The spell was cast... and in the heavens, Amaterasu screamed as the spell tore her away from her home. And then the unexpected happened. Even with Hiroshima Shadow providing power beyond what the sorcerer could draw on his own, it was nowhere near enough to pull down the kami of the Sun by brute force. The ritual, instead, had relied on subtlety and a well-placed strike, and that was its undoing- while Amaterasu was hurt and forced down from Heaven, she was still able to overpower the part of the spell that would have forced her where the ritual directed. Fleeing, seeking shelter, she managed to find it, slipping into the being of a teenage girl named Haruko as she was sleeping… then starting to rest herself, her presence known by none. Hiroshima Shadow's rage was… a sight to behold. She avoided killing her partner, certainly, but that was mostly because he was able to confirm that the ritual had… mostly worked. Amaterasu had been dragged down, they just had to find the person acting as host. And meanwhile, Haruko woke up, rapidly finding out she had power to create light, but not knowing why. Her parents were concerned, obviously, but they didn't have the connections to figure out what was happening… and while they're trying to find out, in the meantime, Haruko may well attract attention from the darker side of the mystic community. Only time will tell what may result. Personality & Motivation: Haruko's best described by the term 'silk hiding steel'. She's polite, quite soft-spoken... but somehow, manages to make herself known and heard anyway. One of the main things she always tries to do is think before she speaks, considering all sides of a debate or conversation. As far as her motivations... well, right now, she wants to figure out what exactly's happened to her. Further than that... what was that phrase from that American comic? With great power comes responsibility? At the very least, there was a reason she gained these powers. Powers & Tactics: As a vessel of Amaterasu, Shiranui mainly uses light-based abilities at present, whether simply creating light, or causing that light to dazzle or even burn. She can also heal with her light, although she doesn't know exactly why. In combat, Shiranui focuses mainly on a support role at present, peppering opponents with blasts and healing those who need it. Complications: Secret: Haruko, like many other superheroes, chooses to keep her identity a secret, and this could cause her a major amount of trouble if the secret got out. Amaterasu-Åmikami: Haruko doesn't know it. Her family doesn't know it. But being the host of one of the most powerful and influential deities of the Japanese pantheon gives her a metaphysical weight that could very easily be used for the wrong kind magical working. And those capable of such a working are likely to be able to tell. To say nothing of the reactions of other gods, both Shinto and otherwise. GM Kingston, October 12, 2014, 10:30 P.M. The case was only a day old, and already it had achieved a certain level of notoriety- partially due to the bureaucratic tangle that had piled up in the past 24 hours. The FCPD had called in the Federal Bureau of Investigation fairly quickly... and then, unfortunately, once the media had gotten a hold of the story, information that the police had only just found out- that the girl had recently developed superpowers- got onto the media. And her name, Haruko Miyamoto. That, and new facts being discovered, necessitated bringing in AEGIS. And, after further investigation, the three agencies managed to determine that they needed even further outside assistance. Namely, some sort of mystical assistance, but that would take time. And time, quite often, was in short supply during cases like this. Which lead to the Miyamoto residence, late at night, with two cars parked outside, and a fairly-heavily build man standing outside, waiting to see if any heroes would investigate the story. It wasn't ideal, but... Well. In cases like this, any competent help would be appreciated.

Here's the OOC thread for Shiranui's introduction thread.

The color scheme I want for Shiranui. *insert whinging about Hero Factory here* -
So, an introduction thread for Shiranui! When a 16-year old girl is kidnapped, it turns out that the girl in question had recently developed powers of what may well have been a mystical source... and there's some signs that magic may have been involved in the kidnapping itself. As such, the heroes are contacted by the authorities/get involved. This plot would work with street-level or mystical characters- I still need to do some plotting out, so I can actually work the PL around whoever shows interest. So, who's interested?
