Folkert Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Throughout Ultimate Power the "Drain Toughness" effect and it's consequences for objects are handled in a number of different ways. What's FC's official take on this? Disintegration - apparently an object's Toughness can be reduced to -10 without any ill effects resulting from that. Melt (AP for Plasma Control) - objects reduced below Toughness 0 are melted Matter Eater - objects reduced to 0 Toughness are destroyed
Dr Archeville Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 That... is bizarre. The Refs'll mull over it.
Dr Archeville Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 zzzzz... zzz.... zzzZZZzzz.... Actually, just yesterday I'd re-started some discussion on this ;)
Veiled Malice Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Yeah, we're near a consensus on this issue. Sorry it's taking so long.
Dr Archeville Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 It... kinda got pushed to the back burner, since there's been lots of other things popping up. We'll see about finishing up our discussion soon. :)
Dr Archeville Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 A decision has been made! Owing to conflicting reports in Ultimate Power on certain Toughness Draining effects, the following rule on object Toughness is in effect for FC PbP: Any object reduced to a Toughness of -6 or less is effectively destroyed.
Sandman XI Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Note to self: gadgeteer not looking so hot now :|
Dr Archeville Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Considering that Devices have a Toughness of 10+Device rank, and that destroyed Devices can easily be replaced between adventures (if not within an adventure -- you did pay good points for them, after all), this isn't really so big a deal. Besides, one of the inherent drawbacks to being a gadgeteer (or any sort of item-based character) is that your toys will at times be unavailable to you.
Sandman XI Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Considering that Devices have a Toughness of 10+Device rankPhew, thanks for pointing that out, I thought they were treated like constructs iin the toughness department.

Many thanks for the answer! Hadn't expected an answer so soon after the "back burner" status update, so I did not check here earlier. :)
Dr Archeville Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 The Refs are never late. Nor are they early. They arrive at a decision precisely when they mean to. ;)
