Especially given him (albeit small time) endorsement deals. Noticeable: Red Star's eyes are a deep bright red and seem to glow. DC Block: Blast 8 - 23/Toughness -- Bruise (Staged) Unarmed - 23/Toughness -- Bruise (Staged) Costs: Abilities (20) + Combat (16) + Saves (4) + Skills (4) + Feats (4) + Powers (51) - Drawbacks (02) = 97 / 100 Appearance Red Star is in the prime of life. He stands at 6'2" weighs in at about 160 lbs, and has the build of somone who frequents the gym. He is rather fair skinned, which is somewhat surprising for someone who's out as often as he is. His black hair is parted down the center and is relatively short. The feature that stands out most of all however are his eyes, which are bright red, and seem to glow. Costume Red Star's costume is somewhat simple. The vast majoirty of his costume is plain white. It has long sleeves and pants, both of which are white. His costume isn't skin tight like many others, his are looser, though not as loose as casual clothes tend to be. He doesn't wear any gloves, and instead of boots which is the norm, he often times just wears his street shoes. He wears a half cape that is black on the inside and white on the outside. He dons a plain black belt on his waist. Just about the only decoration on his costume is the insignia on his chest, which is a 7 pointed red star apparently bursting through his chest. History Steven Rivers grew up an orphan. His parents, whoever they are, apparently didn't want him, and placed him on the steps of an orphanage one night. Steven grew up as a relatively normally child. His favorite pastime was reading comic books and even the news papers when they had some news about real live super heroes. He got decent grades all through school, and was a good player on the football team. His utter tenacity and physical prowess gave him some pretty good numbers, but not great numbers. He didn't get any sports scholarships, at least none good enough to let him go to college. In the summer at the end of senior year, Steven had an eventful night of drinking and wound up with super-powers. Within the week, Steven had moved to Freedom City and legally changed his name to Red Star. Soon after he landed an endorsement deal with a sporting goods company and filmed a quasi-famous commercial where he threw a football the length of the field and caught it himself. Although the deal was quite lucrative, Red Star doesn't have a day job so he has to watch what he spends. Origin Story One night he was gazing up at the night sky and saw a bright red glowing star in the night. He looked at the star, intrigued. To this day he doesn't know why he did it, but he reached out and tried to grab the star. What was amazing, is that he actually succeeded. He pulled back his hand as he sat up, and there, plain as day sitting in the palm of his hand was a red star about the size of a baseball. With it's reflection twinkling in his eye, and its warmth playing on his hand, Red Star suddenly felt the need to sleep. When he awoke, he found the star to be gone, but a similar warmth was in his chest. He brushed the whole affair off as a weird dream, as he had also been drinking pretty steadily during the night (explains why he was sprawled out looking at the stars :-) ). However, the scientific world at large also woke up the next day to find the Red Giant Celecia which was about to go Nova, gone from the skies. In the coming days Red Star began to realize that he had been endowed with incredible gifts. Personality Red Star is still getting used to the whole hero thing, and as such, he currently prefers the direct approach. He's experimenting with what his powers are capable of, as they are growing almost by the day. He doesn't consider himself a hero yet, he feels like he's just a guy that kicks the snot out of the bad guys. He thinks having super powers is the greatest thing that could ever happen to anyone, and as such, gave up his old normal boring life. He's not one to sit around and try to think of a plan, but he'll tolerate a plan making session if those involved are the more classic heroes that could show him the ropes. You could think of him as a green horn that's eager to learn the ropes, but a little more eager just to get in on the action. Note: I've sent a request to archive Bounce, and Red Star here will take his place.
Dr Archeville Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 I'm not sure if the Wide extra is allowed here. I've heard it get lots of flak around the ATT. The Refs'll confer on it.
Geez3r Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 If it's an issue, I'll nix it and get Power Reserve for Flight and Super-Strength. Or just do a Dynamic Array for Super-Strength and Flight.
Geez3r Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Any word yet on the legality of Wide Arrays?
Dr Archeville Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Consensus so far seems to be "No." A few Refs have still yet to voice an opinion, though.
Geez3r Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 Alright, I'll speed the process along and nix Wide then. Let me make a few adjustments. EDIT: Got rid of Wide Array, and made Flight and Super Strength Dynamic off one another. No net change to Power cost.
Dr Archeville Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 D'oh! Sorry, I was sure I'd already given a once-over on this guy! I have a feeling he'd get along great with Megastar Knowledge (Super-Hero Exploits)* 4 (+4) This should be Knowledge (current events) Powers: 49 PP Enhanced Constitution 10 Enhanced Strength 10 Blast 8 Flight 5 PF: Dynamic DAP: Super-Strength 5 Only thing I see wrong here is that the powers aren't alphabetized Drawbacks: Vulnerable (Electricity Damage) Uncommon, Moderate [-2] If you could list the full effect (that is, that the DC modifier is increased by 50%), that'd help us Refs out Other than that, looks fine to me.
Dr Archeville Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Approved. Now ya just need one more approval.
