The landscape parted as dreadnought charged, a tremulous furrow cut into the earth. Then, came the blistering CRUNCH! of impact. The giants new how to fight, clearly. They were riddled with battle scars and the stigmata of brutal combat. But at that size, they presented a relatively easy target.

The Giant flipped in mid air, and landed on his face a dozen feet away.

"OW!" he grumbled as he spat out a tooth.

The other two giants were bold and fearless, even facing such titans as were before them.

BAM! BAM!

Giant man-sized fists slammed into the earth. Giant feet crunched into the soil. Both furious, both determined to stamp the insect-heroes beneath them!

Klara would be the first to admit that the giants were imposing, a warrior learned to control but never conquer their fears, and for a few seconds, she paused at the sight of them in action. But she’d also been taught to fight through your fears and when necessary to literally fight them.

“This could have gone so much smoother if someone hadn’t done something very, very stupid!”

Stepping forwards she again gave the giant another smack, despite her mind suggesting caution right about now.

"you throw yourself under the bus whenever you want voin." Dreadnought snapped back "you don't make those decisions for other people! Especially when they made their own!'

The giants fist caught him across the front and in fairness was forceful enough to turn his head as it crashed on his body and with that he was back to snarling, lashing out with his hand at the fallen giant with ground shaking force.

Dreadnaught was a good kid, but he was one of those punch first, then punch again types of hero. Which was fine in most situations but occasionally you needed a little bit of finesse.

“I wasn’t going to force anybody to do anything...” she kept her voice calm despite the situation “...once we knew who or what we were facing we could have gotten her away, now we’re have to do it the hard way!”

Something else was bothering her and considering now a good time she added.

“And please call me Klara, Voin is just Russian for Warriors. To them I was Warrior Woman a miracle against the Axis, apparently Wonder was already taken...”

Dreadnought smashed the Giant heartily, and sent him flying a few feet, the force sending rumbles through the green valleys.

Klara's fist again smashed, knocking the Giant back a step or two, seeing stars.

Yes sir, there was an awful lot of smashing going on!

"SMASH!" yelled the giants, almost in unison. This was not some form of telepathy or mind synchronicity. No, they just seemed to all have one default tactic. And they stuck to it. In fairness, it probably worked against most puny mortals. This was another matter, of course, but their skulls were thick and it took some time for the reality of the situation to permeate through them into their brains.

And Smash they did. One giant stepped on Klara, one giant stepped on Dreadnought!

Dreadnought grunted in exerted displeasure as the giant foot descended onto his helmeted head with enough force to bend his neck down against his chest.

The ground fissures and split around him as his legs sank into the soil, it was not much of a hindrance but just enough to knock his swinging blow off track and further devestate the scarred landscape.

He was getting angrier and angrier by the second and the small voice of reason within his mind was growing ever more quieted.

With both hands, Klara lashed out at the Giant landing a not perfect but acceptable blow on the creature. It was obvious that they could take quite a lot of harm, this could take a little while to whittle them down.

“Right now it would be really nice to know more about these guys!”

There wasn’t any real malice, in fact, it was quite cathartic beating up the giants and she was starting to enjoy herself. As the blow landed she couldn’t help but smile to herself, as any good warrior woman would for.

The Giant shin made a splintering sound, and he yelped in pain despite every effort to maintain his rugged, tough guy (or tough - giant) manner. The yelp was surprisingly high pitch for someone so enormous. However, the net result of both the blow and his own involuntary yelp was to aggrevate him more.

"You don't need to know more! We will stomp you to the ground! Grind your bones into the earth! And then take the seer!"

The three other giants agreed, although given one of them was staggering around punch-drunk, it was more like two - and - a - half other giants agreed.

"Long live King Cauldron! Returned to this world to save it from the one that cannot be spoke of!" they chanted, fanatically and devotedly.

"bah you puny giants haven't so much as bloodied my lip yet!" Dreadnought responded to the towering figures "I've already felt your stone bones crumbling beneath my fists! Here have a reminder!"

And with that he hurtled away in the blink of an eye, skidding to a stop in his deepening furrow In the soil and flinging himself back towards the staggering giant with fists clenched and head lowered lashing out with a powerful twisting punch as he passed under the colossus, traveling again for another hundred feet before rounding and once again charging, though this time more head on, planting his heavy metal helmet and the harder still head beneath it into the back of a towering leg.

"We'll just get what we need from them once they're beaten, won't we Klara?"

The first punch was so powerful, Dreadnought thought he could hear the giant's jawbone crack.

A minute later, a cracked molar, as big as a man's forearm, would land in the centre of the Welsh Village, and become a myth for decades to come. It even gave the small village a small economic boon from tourists keen to see the mysterious giant tooth in the village green!

But the second, follow up punch, full of every bit of force, power, and might Dreadnought could summon, sent the giant far into the air, temporarily blocking out the sun. The mighty giant was quite unconscious when he reached the apex of his ascent, and even if he had not been, the crunching impact of his fall would certainly have finished the job. As tough as Dreadnought was, 'twas perhaps fortunate that he had scooted out of the way when he did...

Klara was glad that the giants could be felled, but even with a couple down the other weren’t about to just give up and give them free rein. You hired people like these Giants when you wanted single-minded devotion. Still, it never hurt to try...

“There would be nothing wrong with surrendering now you know? We can go see you King with not loss of status for either of use.”

She followed this up with a blow, though she didn’t put that much effort in it, because this was what the Giants would expect really.

Not much effort was a relative thing. When one was strong enough to bend steel, even a lazy blow could splinter bone. Even giant bone.

The punch cracked a giant knee. There was an uncomfortable click sound as it dislodged. Perhaps the sound of tendons snapping.

"Ow!" grumbled the giant through gritted teeth. Teeth gritted so hard his unruly and filthy beard was trembling in sympathy.

He fell forward onto his knees.

"Ow!" he noted, again. Quite accurately. The pain must have been a lance of fire, but these giants were bold and fearless. Even so, his eyes glazed over for a second. He tried to get up, and promptly fell on his rear end. There would be a large pair of depressions in the grassy hill for years to come.

Rage and power boiled within dreadnought, the sound of his own burly heart pounding filled his ears his foe fallen before him was of little interest to him so he turned and covered in earth and dirt faced himself towards the next opponent again tensing his leg muscles for a moment before pushing off the ground with monsterous force and hurtling across the ground, letting his momentum carry him into the air and the gravity of the planet pull him down elbow first onto the downed giant.

The hills of Wales would be a little bit hillier after today! The Force of Dreadnought drove the Giants head a dozen feet into the ground. He looked, for a moment, like an inverted statue of Easter Island - head in the ground, tremulous body quivering in the air. And then he fell unconscious. He would wake up with a very stiff neck indeed!

"Bah!" grunted the last giant on its feet. "The world is DOOMED!" he said. "For King Cauldron be its only hope!"

But it did not stop fighting. It didn't have the brains, maybe. Or its heart was too big.

With a massive grunt of effort, he picked up a boulder.

To say it was a boulder was an understatement. It was halfway to a mountain, almost bigger than the Giant himself. It was so huge that the Giant had difficulty standing upright. It was the biggest lump of rock in the hills and he tore it out of the ground with fingers that must have been stronger than steel.

And then, with a huge effort, he dropped it on Klara!

And massive it was. Wales would be raining chipped giant teeth for days to come.

It was a good thing that Giants grew new sets of teeth every couple of hundred years. Otherwise they would be most sorely displeased. Or, to put it more accurately, more sorely displeased than they were right now.

At least, if they were conscious.

A couple of seconds after Dreadnoughts mighty blow, the Giant landed in a forest with a might boom. That forest now had a splendid clearing, that would be called "The Sleeping Giant" forever more.

Morgan started mumbling under her breath now the GIants had gone. A little more lucid, maybe, but not much.

"S'right....King Cauldron coming. Has come to stop the Unspeakable One...."

Whilst she’d been raised in a culture of peace and harmony Klara did enjoy a good scrap now and again. Beaming she brushed herself down and went to find Dreadnought, the kid was a pain but he’d meant well and for Klara that meant a lot. But it was time they began to work together as a real team if they were going to sort all this out.

Okay ground rules, we work as a team and keep everyone safe. But that does mean we’ll need to know what she knows, and that might mean putting her into danger.” she looked at him earnestly, believing what she meant completely.

My role has always been as a guardian of others, I promise you that I will do everything in my power to ensure that neither of you comes to any real harm. But you have to let me do my job, whatever the call. Are we cool?”
