Dr Archeville Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 You wouldn't be making an Investigate check yet -- first you need to make a Search check to find any clues or evidence. Since the police have already been here, there may not be anything left to find, but you never know. If/when you find any clues, then you'd make an Investigate check to prepare it for analysis (this requires an evidence kit), then a second Investigate check to actually analyze it (which requires a lab, for most things). Lacking an evidence kit will impose a -4 penalty on the check to prepare the evidence for analysis, but Dashel's multi-tool will reduce that to only a -2 penalty.
Warmonger Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008  :rotfl: alright good one. Though what are the results form my rolls form earlier there doc ro should i make an IC post about continuing my search. Also Whitedragon you'll have to excuse my char, I wanted a proud somewhat high strung characters. Just saying so that you know any rudeness is not personal just a facet of his being unfamiliar with Mason. He values ability and merit so he has to see someone demonstrate themselves before he trust them.
Dr Archeville Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 Well, were you still going to take 20 on those rolls? If so, as I said it'll take about 4 hours in all. If you take 10 on the rolls, it'll take about 25 minutes. Same goes for Dashel, if he wants to take 10 or 20 on the Search checks.
Warmonger Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Still taking 20. Except for the Knoweledge Check jsut 10
WhiteDrag0n-24 Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 20s for me as well then. And I shoud have a masterwork investigation kit. Hmm, I now see I don't have any ranks in a skill I should have several ranks in... So I'm using a hero point to beginer's luck (search) giving me a total of +7 to the 20 So... Search to find evidence: 27 Investigation to examine evidence found (if any): 37 Notice: 25
Dr Archeville Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Alright, one more pair of rolls I need from you two -- a Notice roll and a Stealth roll (and on these you cannot take 10 or 20).
Warmonger Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1755267/ Notice Check http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1755269/ ER also that Notice checkis 2 poitns higher I roleld with a8 for some reason.
Dr Archeville Posted October 4, 2008 Author Posted October 4, 2008 the Notice checks were to see if y'all notice the punks moving in. The Stealth rolls... will be revealed a bit later ;)
Dr Archeville Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 WhiteDrag0n, gimme an Intimidate check for Dashel, please.
WhiteDrag0n-24 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 here it is If the check fails (and if the ability works that way) I'll have him rerole with the luck control ability. If it doesn't work that way I'll have him make two rolls.
Dr Archeville Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 You won't know if it fails or not until I make my post, so you need to tell me now whether you want to re-roll or not. In other words, if you're going to make a second roll, make it now.
WhiteDrag0n-24 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 My intention is to make the punks reroll, not myself. In other words I would like to do this: You can spend a hero point to force someone else to re-roll a d20 roll and take the worse of the two rolls. The target of this last effect may spend a hero point to avoid having to re-roll. As per the luck power What I don't know is whether I have to spend my HP before I find out wether or not I failed. So in either situation I wish to make them reroll: 1) If I fail or 2) before the rolls are revieled. I am choosing the situation that is best for me. Sorry for the mix up, and this is part of the reason why I'm using the ability now (to find out how it works). Thanks ;)
Dr Archeville Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 You spend the HP/use Luck Control before finding out the result.
WhiteDrag0n-24 Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Ok then I use the HP to make them roll twice and take the lower.
Dr Archeville Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 It wooldn't be "make them roll twice" it'll be "make one of the them roll twice." First roll: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1767693/ (1 succeeds, 2 fail) Second roll: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1767694/ (now all 3 failed)
Warmonger Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Yes I honeslty couldn't find a free hour to post or evne log on this week but I'll catchup.
WhiteDrag0n-24 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Is there going to be any changes to this post now that Warmonger is a little indisposed? Also is thier anything in front of the ringleader I could, say, put a badge on? like a picture frame or a stool or something?
Dr Archeville Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 Since it's just Dashel & the trio, Sen's absence doesn't really change anything. Dashel doesn't necessarily know Sen's gone, though, so it's entirely possible he thinks he does still have backup. There's a mantle nearby he can prop his badge up on.
WhiteDrag0n-24 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 search for weapons on the girls also I want to take a look for distiguishing characteristics. Scars, birthmarks, little things that Sherlock would notice.
Dr Archeville Posted December 3, 2008 Author Posted December 3, 2008 Psst... they're guys, not girls.
WhiteDrag0n-24 Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 whoa... I just assumed with "brunete" and "blond" .... Hold on a sec I need to reset my mental image ... ... ... OK, let me change a few things. [one edit later] that was remakibly easy.
Dr Archeville Posted December 4, 2008 Author Posted December 4, 2008 Focus on the pronouns: never once did I say "her" or "she," I always used "he" or "his". Plus, the names: Tom and Danny aren't common female names. And if you want a really clear mental image, picture these three.
