Geez3r Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Well I've been here for about 8 months now, so I figured it's high time I introduce myself. I'm a bit of an RPG junkie, and I'm working my way through every system under the sun. D&D 3.5 and 4, Hunter: The Vigil and Reckoning, Exalted, Gurps, MnM, and Pathfinder, among others. I'm the type of guy who knows every rule under the sun, and the page number, after like the first read through. I read the rules over and over again, and make tons of characters. I'm using Freedom City to try to be a better role player because it doesn't come naturally to me. I love video games too, like left 4 dead, rock band, and I'm also an Oblivion junkie as well. And I'm rambling, so I'll shut up now.
Dr Archeville Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I was a huge Oblivion junkie (got it last X-mas). If I get Fallout 3 this X-mas, it'll probably absorb me. Fortunately, I get a week and a half vacation time ;)
Geez3r Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Yeah, it always great when you find a game that you can just play forever. Left 4 Dead may very well be that for me. If you try playing by yourself, I'll admit that its not that good, but when you play online with other people, or even do a LAN game, its soo much fun. My favorite thing is that you truly need other people to help you out, its not the stereotypical one guy stands alone against an entire army and wins scenario. It's 1 guy and 3 of his best buddies scream "oh ****" into a microphone for a few hours as they dart through the landscape like scared rats, just trying to survive. Okay, I made the game sound harder than it really is, but its really fun.
Lone Star Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Hey there! I posted a character once...remember Markus Eldritch? Anyone? No? Didn't think so. Aaaanyways, I'm a young-un, a highschool student, unemployed, but I have a driver's license. I enjoy such nerdly things as Star Trek (Picard>Kirk), various comic books, and of course, roleplaying. M&M is my first, but I'm getting into some other ones, however, I am very familiar with this system. I aspire to be an high school literature teacher sometime in the future. My home state should be obvious. :D
Ecalsneerg Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I enjoy such nerdly things as Star Trek (Picard>Kirk) So true. Just so true. My home state should be obvious. Don't assume we're all American. :P
Sandman XI Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 So true. Just so true. Can't we like them both equally? Don't assume we're all American. Pshaw. Everyone's American. We just haven't assimila... I mean FREED you yet :P
behindthebook Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Allow myself to introduce. . . myself. I'm an operations analyst for a healthcare conglomerate in suburban Dallas Texas(the biggest company you've never heard of). I've been playing RPGS for 14 years, and in that time have played everything from Toon to Wraith (both made me feel like I had to go home and take a shower). Super Hero has always been a favorite genre of mine, and it's been far to long since I played it. My current regular table-top group is in love with D&D 4th edition (me, not so much), so I figured I'd get my Super Hero fix online. Found this place through RPG Gateway, and here I am. Just bought the M&M second ed PDF the day after Christmas, so it may take me a few more days before I have a character ready to post. What else. . . Oh, yeah, my wife and I are expecting out first child in a month or so. So if a lot of my posts come in the 2 in the morning range, you'll have my daughter to thank.
Sandman XI Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I guess my niece and nephew are just weird They slept through the night fine when they were babies (they're 2 and 3 now). Welcome newcomer! Hope you enjoy your stay. Don't get disheartened if it seems slow. The holidays ate everyone. Hopefully it'll spit them back out soon :P
Pandorym Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Greetings. I'm a student, age irrelevant, located in the godforsaken wastes of Utah, USA. In about two and a half months I'll have play-by-post roleplayed for 4 years, played DnD and the Star Wars rpg for five years, and played MnM for two and a half months. That is to say, I'm new at this one, though a friend gave me many of the books for both the Freedom City universe and MnM in general, along with assorted extras that I expect will prove useless here. After spending ten hours on character creation (only six at one sitting, mind you), and deciding that I have far, far too much time on my hands, I am now looking forward to roleplaying with you all. The wonders of almighty Google brought me to this place, but not until I refined my search terms a couple of times. You're on the first page of "Mutants and Masterminds PbP Forum" if you go through a couple links, but on page fifteen or so of "Play Mutants and Masterminds Online". Interesting... I read primarily Golden Age Batman comics, yet manage to come up with dark, Iron Age type heroes. I confuse myself quite often.
Avenger Assembled Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Greetings. I'm a Northern Kentucky gamer with an interest in twists on common archetypes. Hope the holiday's been a good one! =D And a new avatar and sig, ta-da!
MBCE Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I just want to give a big Welcome to the boards to both AvengerAssembled and Pandorym! Things have been busy during the Holidays which is why the board has been as slow as it has been. I'm hoping that the other Refs will get back into the swing of things in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I'll be looking over your characters once I have some other items attended to. Hopefully, I'll get to your characters later this week. Again, welcome to the Boards and I hope to get you guys playing as quickly as possible. That goes for all the people waiting for their characters to be approved.
quotemyname Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 just got both of my characters approved. take a look if you want they are in the sig, and im always up for a game if you want. though i am new and until i get used to stuff around here, i would humbly ask that you set it up since im still hazy on the details. pm me if you wanna play.
Hellbound Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Awright! 'Looks like Hellbound might be getting approved soon (hopefully there are only a few more details to work out), so I'll take Dr Archeville up on his invitation to introduce myself here. In real life, I'm a Systems Analyst playing out of Des Moines, Iowa here in the U.S. (in case anyone doesn't know where Iowa is, we're easy to miss), and I'm looking forward to some nice adventure. Though I'm new to Mutants and Masterminds, I've been for several decades and it should just be a bit of a mindshift to wrap my head around the rules. Hopefully I won't be totally clueless for much longer. Hellbound is a tough-as-nails front line fighter type who bleeds burning fire with hallucinogenic properties. Should produce some interesting runs Regardless, howdy ya'all - let's get to it!
Cyroa Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Greetings all. Been bumming around the boards for a week or so, making a char. Just submitted it. So, here's a little bit about me: I'm 35, married to a very nice and understanding woman (who tolerates me and my host of flaws; mostly ) and we have 1 daughter (almost 3). I'm a elementary school teacher. I live in the Northeast (US). While I've never actually done M & M before, I have been gaming for about twenty years or so with much of the last ten gming for various friends in RL. I've played in various systems so should hopefully pick this up fairly quickly. I've done LARPing and have taught medieval combat for both it and theater (used to anyway; haven't even picked a sword up in almost 8 years sadly). With the arrival of my daughter, my fee time available for gaming has dropped significantly (still happens of course, just only like once or twice a month and I'm pretty much the GM most of the time). So, I turn to the Internet to get my RP fix. Looking forward to having some fun RP with everyone. Later!
MBCE Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Welcome to the site, Cyroa! I hope you enjoy your time with us!
nareik123 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Have I put myself here? I don't think so. Anyway, here we go. Reverse my user name and remove the numbers and you pretty much have my real name. Yeah, not amazing I know, but seeing as the users pretty obvious, might as well reveal it. I am 15 years old (16 next week), making me possibly the youngest on this board and I live the grand old UK. I am a heavy gamer, although I prefer Video games I do play a lot of Tabletop games, notably Warhammer (Both varieties) and I also dable into Specialist games Games Worshop produce such as Necromunda, Mordheim and Battlefleet Gothic. I do play RPG such as DnD, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, MnM (Obviously), nWoD and Dark Heresy. I am very keen to learn other systems and I seek to learn Exalted. While I am unfortunately Impatient, I do like to learn as much as I can and I am happy to share knowledge of subjects. A pleasure to meet other gamers, MnM at my age is so hard to find face to face. Nareik123
Hellbound Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Hey, good to meet you. In case I manage to space it off next week, happy sweet sixteen in advance!
oEmperorBob Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Hey there, I'm a Boston-based gamer who also goes to school as an English major. I've been gaming for about 8 years now and I fell in love with M&M when I picked up the first edition in a bookstore. I'll be submitting some characters soon and I'm convincing another friend of mine to join as well.
Bendigeidfran Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Hi there. You can call me Bran if you think my full name is a bit long. I'm also new to this site, but I'm the little brother of one of the referees, it should be fine.
Dr Archeville Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I'm also new to this site, but I'm the little brother of one of the referees, it should be fine. Really? Which one?
Moira Morley Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Yes, everyone's related to everyone on here. Didn't you know you're my 16th cousin four times removed :P
Dr Archeville Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I am y'all's father! I did not know that, Bran. (Or maybe I did, but stored that info in one of my spare brains.) Is Nyrath okay? He hasn't posted in a looong while.
