Thevshi Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Danger International Building Wading Way, Freedom City, New Jersey Wednesday July 26, 2023 9:43 AM local time Lulu Beaumont found herself riding an express elevator to one of the upper floors of the building that housed the Freedom City offices of Danger International and the associated business and non-profits companies under the umbrella of that holding company owned by the family of her friends Veronica and Janus. The redhead was there for an appointment to meet with Veronica (the need for an appointment primarily being to ensure Veronica was actually in Freedom City, given her habit of regularly traveling to all corners of the world). The elevator came to a smooth stop, the doors opening and letting Lulu out into the reception area of the floors that housed the executive suites for Danger International and its various subsidiaries. It was little surprise the area was set up to impress. The large open space of the reception area had ceilings that rose a full two floors above. In the center where several comfortable leather couches and chairs, arranged in small clusters. Throughout the waiting area were various statutes and other artifacts from around the world, very likely items found by members of the Danger Family over the decades, perhaps some even uncovered by Johnny Danger himself. Ahead of Lulu was a long reception desk, behind which sat a couple of women in professional attire. To either side of the desk were stairways that wrapped up to the floor above, which divided from the towering open area of the reception area to what were likely office or meeting rooms. There were also two hallways (one to either side of the desk/stairs) which led back along the current floor as well. To either side of the room were large glass walls, enclosing large conference rooms and towering windows that looked out over the skyline of the Wading Way. To Lulu's right the view was of the three massive towers of Pyramid Plaza, while to the left were views toward the heart of the city center. As she made her way toward the reception desk, one of the women seated behind it looked up with a friendly smile. "How may I help you?" But before Lulu could answer, a familiar voice range out from behind the redhead. "It's alright Mary, I can see to Ms. Beaumont from here. She is meeting with Veronica." Turning around, Lulu saw Prudence (the often omnipresent personal assistant to Veronica and Janus during their time at Claremont) emerging from another hallway to one side of the bank of elevators. While Lulu knew Prudence would often "dress down" when in the field with Veronica, it was unsurprising that today she was dressed in impeccable business attire and glasses. As was so often the case, Prudence was holding a small iPad in one hand. "It is good to see you again Lulu." Prudence continued with a more familiar tone, offering the younger woman a genuine, yet professional, smile.
Heritage Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) "Hey there, Pru! How've you been?" Lulu greeted her with a warm smile. Once upon a time, the Alabama native would have been intimidated waling to this vast space that smelled top to bottom of money, but not anymore. Since coming to Freedom City to live with the Harrows, she'd trained with the best at Claremont and traveled the world. Nowadays, she felt confident just about everywhere. "Please tell me Ronnie is here." She never called her friend that to her face. "She promised me she'd be in town today! Ah swear, she's the hardest girl in the world to pin down." Even though this wasn't exactly a business visit, the redheaded telepath always dressed up when she visited Veronica; it just felt right, plus she really enjoyed expressing herself with fashion now that she could. The bright green outfit she wore today suited her coloring perfectly. Edited September 4, 2023 by Heritage
Thevshi Posted September 4, 2023 Author Posted September 4, 2023 Prudence began leading Lulu back down the hallway she had emerged from as the two talked. "I have been well, never a dull moment when working with Veronica." The older woman replied. When Lulu asked whether her friend was in town, Prudence glanced over with a small smile. "She does try to avoid staying in one place too long. But she is here, she made sure that she would be." Prudence and Lulu made their way towards one corner of the floor, where there was a small cluster off rooms off a central area where a secretary was seated behind a computer. Lulu could see a small conference room with large windows that looked out towards the southern part of Freedom City’s skyline. There were several doors off the central area besides the conference room, and through one to the right Lulu could see a small office. Prudence led the redheaded young woman to another partially open door to the left of the conference room, knocking slightly on the door frame before leading Lulu in. The pair entered into a large corner office that had windows looking out the south and the east out past the City Center to Sentry Statute and the Century Narrows beyond. In the section of the office closest to the door were three large lather seats spaced around a small glass coffee table. Set up along the wall to the right of the door were several easels, each containing a poster board with what appeared to be different designs for a book cover. At the other end of the office sat a large desk with two chairs with their backs to the door. Seated behind the desk in a ergonomic chair was Veronica Danger. Despite the professional environment of the Danger International offices, Veronica was dressed in her normal cargo shorts (olive green today), a grey T-shirt and her well-work hiking boots (which were current kicked up on her desk). Veronica was leaning back in her chair with an iPad in her hands. As Prudence and Lulu entered, the brunette looked up from the iPad, a wide smile coming to her face. "Louise!" Veronica quickly sat down her iPad and got up from her chair to make her way over to give Lulu a hug.
Heritage Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) "Hey there, girlfriend!" Though the telepath wasn't physically powerful, her hugs certainly were; she hugged you with her whole self, and sometimes a hint of telekinesis. The recipients of her hugs, especially her best friends, felt warm, safe and loved. After a happy number of seconds, Lulu released Veronica, beaming at her former classmate as she held her at arm's length and looked over her ensemble. "Look at you! Boy, you can take the gal outta the Amazon, but you can't take the Amazon outta the gal! You ready to rush off somewheres, or is this office casual for you?" Edited December 2, 2023 by Heritage
Thevshi Posted December 2, 2023 Author Posted December 2, 2023 Veronica Danger Veronica returned Lulu's hug with similar energy, the young Danger clearly happy to see her friend again. Prudence took this opportunity to step out of the office, closing the door behind her to leave the two friends to catch up. The brunette chuckled slightly at Lulu's comment about her outfit, which was pretty much what the redhead had seen Veronica wear since the moment they first met at Claremont (well, with the exception of wetsuits when SCUBA diving or kite surfing in the Caribbean or the racing suit for driving in the Dakar Rally). "One of the benefits of being part of the family with our name on the door, a great deal of freedom in deciding how I want to dress, at least most of the time." The young Danger replied with a dismissive wave of her hand. "This is a very stylish look." She commented on Lulu's outfit with appreciation as she led her friend over to the leather seats spaced around the coffee table. Taking one of the seats, Veronica looked over at her friend, a wide smile still in place. "I am so glad you reached out Lulu. While university does its best to keep me busy and in one place, I do try to get out and about as much as possible. And there is always something the family business wants me to handle. How are you doing?"
