Chimera

Chimera watched as Nightscale began making short work of the remaining zombies. She was impressed, but still felt a little bad for them. None of them had asked to be brought back as a shambling hoard.

She shook herself out of those thoughts and focused on the problem at hand. Blowfish wasn’t the problem right now, Max was. She couldn’t let him get away again.

She gave Nightscale a quick nod.

“I can try.”

She said and ran for the edge of the dock to jump in after Max.

The ocean was cold at this time of year, and, this being Freedom City (the good, the bad, the ugly), it was not the purest of water. Especially by the docks. It was hard to see through - the darkness and the rich sediment conspired to make Chimera almost swim blind.

She could see the shimmering fuzzy lights of the Lost and Forgotten ahead, although the old ship was barely seaworthy at this point.

And where was Machete Max?

Chimera

Chimera shivered and squinted through the gloomy night darkened waters of the dock. A silent curse. Seemed to trigger a film to grow over the eyes, protecting it from the harsh contaminants of the water. She was finally able to focus and look around.

She caught a glimpse of something she thought was a figure swimming, and swam awkwardly after it. To her dismay a trick of light cost her the trail and she quickly realized she was going to have to resurface soon.

Moments later, Chimera broke the surface of the water and gasped. She swam back to the dock and climbed out, empty-handed.

Looking around at the bodies scattered around made her shiver for an altogether different reason. She sighed and approached Nightscale.

“It looks like Max got away, again.”

She shook her head.

“One of these days…”

Chimera trailed off.

“Thank you for your help.”

She looked around noting that Blowfish had indeed gotten away as well.
