La Puma Negra

Carmen was just there in a way, watching and listening. Bernadette's voice bringing her out of the stupor momentarily as she moved with the rest of the group. It was here that her mind was retreating back, going all in on autopilot as she continued on with them. It was all she had to was deal with the current situation at hand, ignore any and all else until she got home and back with Michael once more. If she could do that, she could make it through this current situation. It was something that she could only expect once back in their own time, having a calming effect once she managed to think about it.

It was until for a brief moment that eyes made contact with her own. A particularly feline one's that were like her own that she went back into this shell-shocked sort of state. That brief eye contact between Gato and Puma that made things far more difficult for her as she simply stared off, a drift. Responding only if needed and called.

Archer’s demeanor did not improve as the various teens began introducing themselves, indeed it seemed to darken. "Time travelers? Even worse." He stated flatly as he turned to look at Daniel as he came forward with Bernadette and Owain. "Maybe where you're from heroes do things like that out in the open and broad daylight, here, we tend to be more covert with things."

"Usually." Kismet stated with a half-smile, she then looked over to the talking wolf that was Owain. "The year? 1993. Is that important, or you just wanting to figure out how time displaced you are?"

Bernadette’s eyes went wide as she looked away from Archer and towards Kismet. "1993? What is the date?"

Kismet looked to the Irish teen with a questioning look. "July 10th."

Bernadette froze, her face seeming to pale as her mouth opened. "Oh $*#@." She then looked over towards Neko, Owain and Rosalind to see if they recognized the importance of the date.

Even as the redhead cursed, El Gato stiffened, her head looking up as if she heard something. Carmen heard it as well, a far distant sound of an explosion, followed closely by several more….

When Rosalind first revealed she had powers to her family her Gran, never one to hid her feelings, told her how it had felt to be that day helpless watching things unfold. She’d promised her, who she realised was just a few miles away not knowing what this day was about to become.

She swore softly in Greek and turned so the contemporary heroes could read her lips, just in case.

”You know what going to happen today right? It’s when…” she mouthed the work Centurion … fights…  again for Omega we really, really can’t be here today of all days!”

Time and dimensional travel in one year, she really wished she hadn’t bemoaned how quiet last year was!

Neko Musume and the Copper Knight had one thing in common besides the shared history that had made them closer than friends. When they'd been young, too young, they'd been taken to war. They'd heard explosions like this before, from men who wanted them dead without ever looking them in the eye.

The catgirl thought of Crimson Katana and his lessons. Look and listen first. Always. Neko knelt on the floor and closed her brilliant gold eyes, reaching out once again with her mind across the city. All across Freedom, white cats with brown speckles peered out of dark alleys and windows, small, silent witnesses to Armageddon.

Still in his wolf form, missing the sword he'd left stored in his luggage like a fiber drawn from his heart, Owain growled softly "...I know of time travel. If time is a river, one can make changes in the rocks without disturbing the river's flow. We need not abandon these people to their fate. I will not run."

"What's going to happen today beyond whatever the heck that was!?" Puma responded back to Starshine. History was probably one of her weaker subjects, that and combined with her not so stellar knowledge of heroics didn't help much at all.

Things were getting far more serious now, enough to break her out of her thoughts. Whatever that sound was, it had broken her concentration off of what she was thinking about. Something that she didn't want to think any more about at all as she now brought into something she was only truly realizing right at this very moment. They were stuck in a time that was very much not their own and about to face an event of which she could only assume was utterly brutal.

Cerebral and Cerebellum

The sounds of explosions caused the twins to jump, even Iris reacted to them and she was the more serious of the duo. Neither understood the significance of this date.

Daniel would turn towards the others. “What? What’s going on?!

At the same time Iris got an idea and connected to each of her classmate’s minds one at a time. “I do not know how to connect us all yet but…if you want to say something privately, without the past people knowing…you can direct your thoughts to Daniel or myself and we can relay the message. It might be clunky but it’s the best we can do.” Iris’ voice echoed in each of the student’s minds.

Archer, Kismet and El-Gato had moved over to one of the windows to look outside as several more explosions could be heard, sounding closer. Bernadette looked at the others, as Iris reached out to her mind (and presumably sent the same message to the others as well.

It is the start o' the Terminus Invasion, the major one that resulted in the deaths of dozens o' superheroes, including Centurion when he faced off against Omega, the leader o' the Terminus. Bernadette mentally responded to Iris for her to pass along. A lot o' the city gets destroyed in tha process. I think at least one o' the members o' FORCE OPS with us is supposed ta die in this. She added, looking over at the three by the window.

"Owain is right." The Irish teen then said out loud. "We can' just try ta run from this." She looked to Rosalind. "An' where would we go? Maybe we shouldn' be here, but we are."

Out in the city, Neko saw a number of rifts in space, outlined by black crackling energy. From these rifts poured scores of Omegadrones, which quickly opened fire, while other took the skies to spread out. Large hovering battle wagons emerged from larger gates in the sky, followed by faster moving open transports, that more quickly began taking groups of Omegadrones throughout the city, including in the direction of the Boardwalk.

"Alright, you go get the others." Archer said as he and Kismet moved away from the windows, El Gato following behind. "El Gato and I will get out there and try to slow down these things advances into South Freedom. Then we can figure out what we might be able to do to counter attack."

"What about us?" Bernadette said as she turned back towards Archer and the others.

Archer looked at her with a scowl. "What about you?"

"You saw how they did outside the casino." Kismet answered for the teens. "They have clearly got some training. It certainly looks like we are going to need all the help we can get."

"We may not be from here, but we are stuck here an' we cannot just turn our back on this." Bernadette said. "An' if you have a way ta contact any other heroes outside the city, it would be a very good idea ta call all you can."

Archer regarded the redhead a moment with a cold expression on his face before looking at the other teens. "Fine, but don't expect us to wait if you cannot keep up."

"Oh, yer not goin' ta need ta worry about that." Berandette answered with a grin.

Neko rose to her feet, hand over her mouth, as she came back to herself. As she listened to Owain take a noble stand and Bernadette agree, she had a thought that came spilling out across the mental divide to Cerebral and Cerebellum. It was a thought laced with images of carnage, horrific scenes of apocalyptic murder and grisly carnage already taking place, all seen and head by her thanks to her psychic scan. This is the past - and the future cannot be changed. These people are already dead. Looking at her friends, she found little in the way of allies, even in the face of Owain - who of course was ever happy to charge into a deadly slaughter in the name of a righteous cause.

Her hands wrapped together, tail lashing behind her, she stepped back against the rear wall of the room. "Is there a safe place? I can tell people how to get there." Her accent was thick, each word slowly and carefully chosen, her rs rolling hard until they were almost ls.

"I'm not sure people realise how massive this is all is! As sad as this is without what Centurion does the world we live in just won't exist, some of us might now even be heroes. Yes most changes in the timestream just cause a ripple, but this is something that could flood everything!" she took a deep breath and sighed

"But we're heroes so we can't just hide away and wait for this to blow over, besides meeting my younger relatives would be really weird! Let's just promise not to go out and try and fight Omega okay?" she gave a weak smile "Lets go do this then!"

Daniel and Iris had a lot of infortmation to process. From what they had learned from Bernadette. As Iris read Neko's mind, the flashes of destruction and carnage flashed through her mind and her eyes widened, staring at her for a moment, even Daniel who picked up on this shot her a wide eyes glance as well. This was a lot...maybe too much for them! They literally just started being heroes!

"W-We have to do something right? I mean we are heroes-?" Daniel seemed less sure of himself now, Iris was even worse as she used her telepathy to contact everyone, filling them in on what Bernadette mentioned to her in case they didn't know...she would also add.

"I do not know if it's smart to help, this is the past...we might end up damaging the timeline...even if I hate to admit this."

The twins seemed clearly at a loss.

La Puma Negra

As Iris communicated through the metal space of the mind, Puma was not rather happy about it, feeling it as an invasion of her mind, especially with what she was thinking on right now. It was the urge to not fight the entrance into her mind, keeping it relatively calm and pleasant as she allowed such a guest into it. Thoughts could be heard, questions about who Gato was were on her mind, but Puma did enough to suppress it that these thoughts weren't the only ones that could be felt while reaching in partially, attempting to push in thoughts closer to their situation at hand. If this was the Terminus invasion, then they were all in terrible danger.

"So what do we do If we can't change the past, then how the heck are we going to do anything? We need to get out of here," she responds mentally, letting anyone that wanted hear her. There was a worry in it.

I’m a T-Baby, o' course I realize how big this is. Bernadette mentally "responded" to Rosalind. My father is just eighteen an' new ta the merchant marine on one o' the cargo ships in the harbor. She then glanced over to Carmen. I don' know where you think we can go, but yer choice.

Archer gave Neko a cold stare as she asked about someplace safe to tell people to go. "Some place safe? For the entire city?" He asked.

Kismet quickly spoke up, her tone serious, but slightly softer than Archers. "Telling people to try to move anywhere right now is probably the worst thing to do. It will put all those people out onto the streets, which will be chaos and will make them clustered targets, which will drastically increase the casualties. Until some sort of reasonably safe evacuation routs can be established, best thing to do is get somewhere inside where they can barricade themselves in."

She looked over the group of teens and then to Archer. "You all stay alive till I get back." She said with a faint smile before jogging off towards one of the side exits for the warehouse.

Archer and El Gato made their way over to one of the main entrances. Outside could be heard more explosions, along with gunfire.

"Sounds like the police are in a bit of trouble." El Gato snarled as she listened and sniffed the air.

"Then we should go help them." Bernadette said as one of her duplicates popped into existence.

"As Kismet just said, we're goin' ta need all the help we can get." The duplicate added.

Archer regarded her a moment and then drew an arrow from his quiver, nocking it but not yet drawing it back. "Let's go."

Carmen stood with an upset look upon her face, biting her lip as she was slowly growing indecisive with each passing second. Could she act, of course she very well could, but she wasn't rather sure if that would be the best when timeline's an all that were on the line. There was already too much on her mind as she looked over towards Archer and Gato, trying to work her way out through the steps once more for what she was trying to do. It was at this moment there was a sort of panic starting to set in, unable to deal with the weight of what was going on, if they were just to go out and fight.

This wasn't some alternate world created by Quirk. It was the real deal, the real world that they all knew but thrown back several ears straight into the past. Even if she had only a limited amount of time with him, she wished Michael was there, someone she could confide in at the least, "Damn it," she spoke with claws pushing into the palms of her hands.

As Kismet headed off in a different direction, Archer and El Gato led the teens back outside, where they were greeted to the sound of gunfire and explosions in the distance. Moving quickly down the alleyway, they made their way back in the direction of the casino they had initially appeared in front of. Occasionally there was the sound of something flying overhead quickly, followed by what sounded like energy weapons and explosions.

Coming to the end of the alley, the group could see the street that ran by the casino. Several destroyed cars now littered the street, one of which was a police car. Several bodies were scattered about the street and sidewalk, many of them police. A number of police and SWAT members were behind various cover, engaged in a fire fight with more than twenty hulking armored figures that were scattered about the area, some hovering in the air.

After quickly taking in the scene, El Gato rushed forward toward one of the armored figures, leaping at it as she slashed with her claws. The car-woman landed on its back, her claws slashing across its throat as the armored figure went stiff and the collapsed onto its knees before falling to one side as El Gato dropped off and landed in a crouch before dating behind a parked car.

Iris was at a loss. She did not know whether or not this was actually their timeline or an alternate dimension. The fact that she didn't have time to explore and figure this out did not help. She did not want to risk messing up her own timeline should this be part of it. So when the students were rushed out into the action, she would stay behind.

She moved on her own to an alleyway closer to the action. This didn't seem right to her, but they were heroes and had to do something. She did not want anyone to get hurt...not like back when she was the criminal Stem. No. She was Cerebral now, a hero! So she would take action, however she would also be more subtle until things were confirmed for her. So she would stare at an Omegadrone and suddenly it's pike glowed a faint purple before being yanked right our of it's arms.

The pike then floated up and pointed it's blade down ready to shoot into the Drone.

Looking up at a sky full of Omegadrone Rosalind couldn't help but feel a sense of dread, but as her Gran says bravery was being scared but doing the right thing anyway. She fished out her lucky Goggles making a show of putting them on, as the bracelet and then the rest of her began to glow brightly. Even then the bracelet gave a little concerned chirp, potentially knowing just quite how dangerous things were going to be today.

"I'm sure it will be okay, besides you're almost indestructible..." she gave the alien device a friendly little pat "Oh well, here we go...!"

With that, she shot into the air firing off a burst of Hard Light towards the closest drone.

Starshine’s beam of hard light energy slammed into one of the flying Omegadrones, but the hulking armored figure took the blast with seemingly minimal effect as it turned its head in her direction.

Bernadette was the next to move, rushing forward a half dozen steps before leaping into the air and landing in the middle of the area where the police and SWAT were trying to defend. Rising quickly up from her crouch, the redhead started towards a Omegadrone that was getting ready to stab  SWAT team member. As she went, a dozen other Bernadettes suddenly popped into existence, all rushing in different directions to engage other Omegadrones.

The Irish teen and her duplicates unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks, which slammed into the Omegadrones with tremendous force. In just a few moments, ten of the armored figures were down, as Bernadette cleared the immediate area round the police, who seemed rather shocked at the sudden appearance of more than a dozen eighteen year old redheads.

Meanwhile, Bernadette’s other duplicate ran over to an Omegadrone that was standing some distance away on the sidewalk and delivered an elbow smash to the side of its head. The armored figure was sent sprawling, also taken out of the fight.

A paladin beset by demons, the Copper Knight knew just what to do - charge! With a ferocious growl different than his usual triumphant howl, he ran pell-mell for the nearest drone and tore out its throat. As it happened, he'd been trained on how to fight these things by his new master - with the help of his master's friend, the liberated slave of the Terminus called Harrier. He bit down on the parts of the neck that held vital connections that were not actually full of the poisonous black bile that ran in the veins of the Omegadrones. With a crackling tear, he pulled cables and wires free, sending the now-powerless drone collapsing in a heap at his feet.

La Puma Negra

It was well enough time that Puma was given the idea to finally act as her compatriots had as they were brought out to help fight against the Terminus invasion of years past. So be it, as the choice was made that potentially all of this was predestined, there was no escaping whatever future they were already in and there was some solace to her young mind in such. What they did may not even matter at all. What did matter was getting back home regardless and if that meant wrecking whatever these things were, she was going to shred them to pieces, and so, moving with quick movements, followed suit in her compatriots and struck hard and fast, slashing at the same apparent weak point with a furry in a similar vein to El Gato had, taking the throat before jumping off and diving for cover.

Archer watched from the mouth of the alleyway as most of the teens followed after El Gato in attacking the Omegadrones engaged with the police. "Hmmm." He muttered as the teens quickly cut down on the number of Omegadrones in the area, dealing with the ones that were on the ground.

Stepping out of the alley, he quickly drew back his arrow and aimed at one of the airborne Omegadrones. He fired the arrow at the visor of the armored figure’s helmet, and while the arrow struck its intended target, the Omegadrone had slightly turned its head, causing the arrow to deflect harmless off the visor without harming the drone.

Archer scowled slightly as he moved over to get behind a parked car near the alley entrance.

Neko Musume

A psychic with a connection to Neko's mind would have heard the Crimson Katana whispering in her ear, his voice coldly paternal as he whispered Be clever. Be careful. Be better than them.

And Neko knew she could; because at the sight of the Omegadrones, she too had remembered the brown-skinned man with the sad eyes and scarred face who sometimes came to the dojo. She remembered that Omegadrones were not machines. There was flesh inside. And where there was flesh, she had power. She was not a weak, frightened peasant girl. She was Neko Musume, the last cat of the Iya Valley. And so she gave them something else. A monster no civilian would see as an ally, one that none would run to shelter from - but one that the Omegadrones would see as a more formidable target.

She opened her eyes without realizing she had closed them, golden lens flashing yellow, and whispered in a low, growling whine: "Ten. Thousand. Years." She raised her clawed fingers and slashed the air in front of her - and something stepped out of the alley behind them.

The giant was huge, towering tall as any of the buildings around them, and bore a blade bloody with dripping red and black ichor. It laughed in a booming voice like Death itself "Kekekekeke!" as it strode toward the drones. "Ahhh! At last, after seventy-five years!" it bellowed, Neko whispering in time with him. "I AM FREE TO CONQUER EARTH!" The giant was clearly recognizable as a building-sized version of the second Crimson Katana, among the most infamous Japanese war criminals of World War II. He raised his katana, long as a bus, while from another arm hung a gigantic banner that bore two car-sized Japanese characters in blood - which a reader of Japanese could see as BANZAI!

Jotunn

He blinked, at what the heck he was seeing, having followed after everyone in the rear, being taller, and it was easy for him to... It was hard to process everything, as despite powers and everything he wasn't the confident warrior some of his other classmates were.

And whatever the heck that thing was that was happening was distracting him as he took aim. That with all the information was making this a little delicate. He surged forward, his right hand low, before he brought it up, as the air was filling with frost crystals, and he brought it up to aim at one the drones. Blue-white light lanced out, arcing that trail of that shimmering frost in the air, before it hit one of the drones square on, a sheen of ice around him. "Okay! So... we're in the middle of a bad day. Right. Got it, I will pay attention in history class." He rolled his eyes as the joke hidden in the fever dream Kaiju, but wasn't going to say it.

Later yes, now, facing the end of the world, so more important things were to be considered.

As Neko’s massive illusion stomped into view, all but one of the Omegadrones hovering in the are nearby immediately turned toward the illusionary threat. Before they could act, Jotunn’s ice blast struck the one that had not been fooled by the illusion, trapping it in ice and causing it to crash to the ground, unharmed but immobilized.

The other five Omegadrones flew towards the illusionary giant Crimson Katana, firing blast of energy from their power spears as they went. However, one of the armored figures appeared not to be fooled by the illusion, and instead aiming its spear down at where La Puma Negra was crouched behind a car. A blast of energy shot out at the teen, who nimbly dodged as aside, as a small hole was blasted in the pavement where she had just been.

Suddenly, a fast moving open transport came flying overhead, a dozen more Omegadrones disembarking into the air. Ten of the new arrivals immediately went to attack the illusionary giant Crimson Katana.

However, two were apparently not fooled by the illusion, swooping down towards the group of teens, police and Force Ops members. One fired a blast of energy at La Puma Negra, who easily dodged aside as it blasted a whole in the pavement. The other similarly shot at Neko, who also was able to dodge aside, a chunk of the wall she had been standing next to being blasted out.

Cerebellum

There was a lot going on, sure Daniel had rushed on ahead, but he was woefully underprepared! As soon as the drones attacked he froze up, the only thing that got him moving was the Illusionary Kaiju that Neko summoned. He knew it was fake, but it still shocked him into action! The young man cursed. "Damn it Daniel you worthless moron." He knew he should have acted sooner...at least he could act now, Daniel...no...Cerebellum...dove behind one of the nearby cars and looked up at the Omegadrone that was blasting at Carmen and he stared at it, focusing, his finger moved to rub his forehead as he did.

His psychic power pushed into the drone's mind, or at least the closest thing it had to a mind, and pain flooded through it, a faint purple wave came out from the young hero and shot towards the drone as this happened. As such he would knock it out before ducking behind the car again.

Cerebellum's mental attack caused the Omegadrone that had been attacking La Puma Negra to suddenly rear back in pain as it dropped its power pike and grabbed for its head. However, that was brief, as the armored figure quickly succumbed to the mental attack, dropping out of the sky to crash onto the ground below.

Several of the gathered police and SWAT officers all spotted the giant illusion of Crimson Katana and yelled in panic before they started running away from the illusion. Others just ducked down behind the cover they had, seemingly expecting the creature to somehow not be able to get to them.

Meanwhile, El Gato looked at the illusion, seemingly fooled by it as well as she muttered a number of curse words in Spanish before running back towards the mouth of the alleyway, seemingly weighing whether or not she should just bolt for or not. "What the hell is that things?" She asked Archer as she passed him.
