Sarah completely missed Mizuki’s indication of her to Annie. It wasn’t until the little blue alien looked at her and addressed her directly that Sarah realized she had been staring. The teen gave a small ‘eep’ of embarrassment as her cheeks darkened.

“I-I am so sorry.”

She managed to stammer as she looked away quickly. She tried to focus on the other girls, her attention falling on Kadene. Sarah puffed out her cheeks as she gave the girl a frown.

“I said I was sorry. I’ve never seen a, well, anyone blue, or alien before.”

She said defensively.

“Maybe its more normal where you come from. But its a first for me.”

 

Sarah hesitantly looked back at Vueriz again.

“I apologize for staring. That was very rude of me.”

She straightened herself, all 5’ 4” at least, and gave a friendly smile.

“My name is Sarah, Sarah Thatcher. It is nice to meet you.”

Her mother insisted that a proper introduction was always needed when encountering a new group of potential classmates.

"First time?" Mizuki said in a joking tone to Sarah.

 

"I don't think we need to start any conflicts here. There are still folk who when exposed to the superhuman side of the world are... left surprised with what they see." She said, uncomfortably changing her position in her seat. "I didn't know Aliens were really a thing until I met V here." She said with a smile. "We've been a pair ever since. Well... recently. Recent events conspired for us to collaborate more and... she's pretty cool."

 

"In being someone fun to be with... not.. like literally cool. No pun intended." She said with a blush. "I'd trust her with my life."

Kadene had the grace to look apologetic. "The fault is mine, Mademoiselle Sarah. I was teasing a stranger like we were known to each other." She curtsied once more. "Kadene Estime, First Mate of the Luckstorm Pirates. Pleasure to meet you."

Sarah gave Mizuki a small nod, still very embarrassed. Her cheeks flushing again slightly, though not as bad as before.

 

“I’ll try not to stare at anyone else.”

She tried to sound confident and joking, but wasn't sure she was pulling it off.

 

She looked back at Kadene and gave her a polite nod as well.

“Pleasure to meet you, Kadene. I hope we can get along together.”

Pirates? Was she teasing her again? Sarah wasn't sure if she should actually ask further.

 

Sarah shifted her weight on her feet, losing some of her nerves as her anger quickly drained away.

“I, uh, I don’t suppose you can direct me to room 406?”

She asked.

She let V take care of Sarah's question, turning to Kadene. "So, how are you adapting shoreside, then? To be honest I've never run into someone from an Alternate Universe that actually stayed before."

 

She smiled. "Since entering this wild world of the super powered, I've been running into things I'd never thought I'd meet in my life. It's never been boring since."

Vueriz accepted Sarah's apology easily, she was accustomed to being stared at being the only tiny blue alien most people would see on any given day. "I'm pretty used to it at this point. Only one of my species in the galaxy means that most people haven't seen anyone like me before." She shrugs nonchalantly even as she suppresses the niggling doubt as to whether she'll ever see another Zirtimzara again. She blushes purple at Mizuki's statement of trust, and chuckles at the accidental pun. "To be fair, I am also cool. Most humans would freeze to death on my home planet's equator."

 

In answer to the question of where Sarah's room was, Vueriz pointed down the correct hallway. "Down thataway, on the right. Can't miss it. I think."

"I have no doubt we will." Kadene replied to Sarah. She clapped her hands together. "All right then! This is going well. Let's get some drinks and it will go even better." She examined the hallway. "Now that's odd. Where has the rum gone?"
