BOUNCE!

A new year at Claremont means new students, and new students mean that the teachers need to figure out just what they can do, see them in action, put them through the paces. In short, it's Doom Room time!

After the start of the school year on a Monday, and with the first group of new students participating in their assessment Tuesday, the second group have been scheduled for Wednesday at 10 AM, featuring none other than Diego D'Angelo, Lady Estelle de Havilland, Annabelle Simran Jones, Matilda Hopper and Alden Underwood.

They had all been told to be there on time, and they had all been told to be in uniform, costume or whichever they prefered to call it. They should be ready for combat, and ready to show off what they could do.

For her part, Mattie Hopper is more than happy to be there. Her eyes are all but bulging out of her head as she walks into the large room, gawking at the sheer size of the hexagon covered room.

She is dressed in a form fitting purple costume with white details on her sides and chest. Her short hair is purple, and her smile is wide as she spots the dark plexiglass windows on one of the walls. That's gotta be where the teachers are, right? She enthusiastically starts waving at whoevers in there, while shouting for them.

"This sure is somethin'! Do all the big time super heroes here in Freedom got a place like this?"

Hurricane Jones

"I very much doubt it. This facility looks exceedingly expensive," came the clipped English tones of Hurricane Jones behind her. She wore sturdy boots over camel-tone jodhpurs, and was zipping a fleece-collared aviation jacket in an older style, the brown leather thick and bulging in places. A pair of goggles rested atop her forehead, her hair held back by a severe array of bobby pins. She rocked back on her heels, looking around the place. "Also looks, well... ceilinged. I'd hoped at least my assessment would account for well, my main ability."

She inclined her head to Mattie. "We were told to be combat ready. I rather hope we're not expected to fight each other. Fencing a fellow student is one thing, but to punch one?" Annie turned up her nose. "Ghastly."

"So Uncivilized..." Diego chuckled as he mimicked Ewan McGregor as Obie-Wan after shooting Grievous with a blaster.

The young man walked to the training room confidently, admittedly the place was kinda impressive, but he wasn't gonna give the people watching behind what was much likely a one-way window the satisfaction of looking amazed. This was not his first time having to show off his powers for someone else to evaluate and to be honest, he wasn't exactly looking forward to it. Still, if he figured he was supposed to make a few sacrifices if he wanted to become a hero, right?

"I certainly hope not. I'd hate havin' to fight with two fair ladies..." He smiled, but it didn't fully reach his eyes, he had done enough fighting with his brothers at "home" already.

Diego was clad in his civilian clothing, sweatpants, sneakers, t-shirt, earphones and a black hoodie, he hadn't thought about a superhero costume yet (although admittedly he had sketched possibly a thousand alternatives, just he hadn't managed to settle on one yet) and he was definitely not gonna wear an actual uniform again, school mandate or not. He did wear a small party black and green mask that kinda concealed his features as a slight concession and he was carried in his pockets a handful of steel spheres to use as weapons, in case the staff wasn't too eager of letting him reshape their expensive looking arena just for play-fight.

Harlequin

Harlequin was not above admitting that he was quite impressed by the Doom Room- he had been in much larger chambers, more ornate too, but they had been Fey palaces.

He was dressed as his Harlequin self, although he was still transformed to appear fully human under the mask and makeup. He grinned as his testmates began to discuss what sort of testing they were about to undergo, Diego's 'hesitance' to fight women causing him to bark a laugh.

"<If combat is what our examiners desire, I would hate to be the focus of your ire. Would ye feel more free, fighting fair maidens three?>" Harlequin punctuated the final rhyme by shifting his Glamour into a feminine version of himself. She then regarded the group before herself.

"<Ah, my manners escape me, my tongue has escaped and now wanders free! I am the one with the eternal grin, I am the incredible Harlequin!>" She finished the statement by flouncing a very jingly bow.

"Alright, kids! Are you ready to show us all what you can do?"

They don't really recognize the voice that's speaking to them. It's a man, probably someone in his 30'es, not anyone that they have met before.

"We'll run a simple thing here, give you all a chance to show off and show us what you can do."

The Doom Room changes. They find themselves in the middle of Freedom Park, in an area filled with trees, some rivers, and ahead, a gazebo. There's a number of men and women inside the gazebo, kneeling on the floor with their hands behind their heads. They are surrounded by a group of 8. 7 of them are men, all clad in various sports themed uniforms. Football uniforms, baseball uniforms, soccer outfits, baseball outfits. 6 of those are holding rifles, while the last, clad in a baseball player uniform with a blue mask underneath, has a backpak with various tools, and is tossing a baseball up and down. The 8th member of the group is a young brunette woman, clad in a pink bathing suit and pink mask, with a yellow cape, as well as purple glove and pixie boots. They all seem to be on the lookout.

"Alright, you got some bad guys to take care of here. Thought I'd bring out some classic. Your mission's to save all the hostages, so get to it."

GOSSAMER II

As the Danger Room begins to reconfigure itself into the grass and trees of Freedom Park, a figure steps out of a bright blue Porta-Potty that suddenly appears where the entrance to the combat simulator stood but moments ago. Lady Estelle de Havilland, completely discombobulated due to entering the scenario late, stands blinking for a few seconds as she listens to the voice on the loudspeaker explain the mission. She wears a standard blue and gold Claremont uniform, and her hair hovers about her like golden vapor.

"Forgive my tardiness," she manages to whisper, her cheeks noticeably pink.

Diego shifted the balance on his feet as the world changed around him. "Cool toy." He smirked. Must have been holograms or something, although it felt like they did pack a punch. Super-science of some kind...

Save the hostages. Got it.

The young man pretended to look unimpressed, while in truth he was studying the scene, the  'show-off' side of his brain having won the battle against the 'you don't tell me what to do' one.

Unlike perhaps some of his classmates, the young man had already been through training for a similar situation (although perhaps not exactly on the heroic side) and while he certainly wasn't going to credit his parents' training for that he at least already was confident about having his priorities in order.

"Hostages first, people..." He muttered, although the tone of his voice was perhaps barely enough to be heard only by the students that were in his close proximity.

He clenched his fists as he sent fragments of his mind flying into the air, they landed within the weapons held by the band of goons infusing them with life. For a moment, he wondered if the simulated environment was going to be realistic enough for his powers to actually work, but the doubt was quickly dispelled when the rifles began to come alive and try to yank themselves free from the grasp of their owners, triggers refusing to fire. He smirked as all, but one were successful in floating away in the air, as far as he could push them from being in danger.

"No playing with guns... Sorry..." He smirked.

BOUNCE!

Aw no, bad guys! With hostages!

It's all just an illusion, right? So nobody'd really get hurt, not even Mattie and the other students? Right?

Not that she really gets a chance to act before the guy in the hoodie did something and all the guns started running away.

"Hey, that's a neat trick! I'll get the baseball player's attention!" Mattie shouts, as she moves forward in the direction of Sportsman, while four extra arms sprout from her body, then quickly rush towards him, threatening to engulf him.

The Sportsman hologram simply sidesteps all of Bounce's arms, a smirk on his lips. While he is silent at the moment, he otherwise seems to perfectly mimic the notorious Sportsman in his prime, including his equipment.

He runs forward at high speed, straight towards Bounce. Reaching for a baseball bat in his backpack, he pulls it out and swings it straight into Bounce's abdomen, only to see it bounce harmlessly off her, much to his artificial frustration.

Hurricane Jones

"Good job, Animist!" Annie called out, kicking off the ground effortlessly and letting gravity fail to stop her. "Now let's see about these civilians!" As a sparking golden trail begin to spiral behind her, Hurricane Jones flew through the space between herself and the hostages at a breakneck speed, barrel rolling around Bounce and the Sportsmaster projection as she collided into the back of the last remaining gunman, sending him flying into the air.

Pivoting with the momentum, Annie kicked off another of the henchmen to deliver a double-handed punch to another, flying from foe to foe and bringing the momentum to bear with haymakers and kicks. Finally, the last of the henchmen surrounding the hostages held up his baseball bat in a makeshift parry, but to no avail. Hurricane snapped through it with a single kick, her boot thudding heavily into the projection's chest and sending it tumbling backward over the gazebo railing. "Well that simply wasn't cricket, was it?" She turned to wave the hostage holograms away. "Quickly, get out of here. I'll cover your escape!" she called, launching into the air once more with her fists ahead of her.
