Buzz scratched his cockroach chin with a cockroach finger. "Another dimension eh? Well, better there than here. Although I got a hunch he's going boomerang back one day, unless he was blasted into the prison-from-which-there-is-no-escape dimension. Which doesn't sound likely."

 

"Look, this Crystal seems pretty important. And by important, I mean dangerous! I am not sure I trust that girl. Maybe we should give it to the Freedom League, or the Atom Academy? Or someone who knows what there doing?"

 

"I mean I know I have amazing Cockroach-senses and Cockroach-intelligence... but this seems a bit over our heads?"

"I mean...he is right." Michael noted to Zoe and Sally.

 

"I got that power fair and square, what gives you the right to take it away from me?" Sally responded with frustration. "He's just upset I was freaked out that he looks like a giant bug!"

 

"Stop insulting him for how he looks." Michael said, as calmly as possible, but a vein was pulsing in his forehead at this point- for as much as he tried to keep it down, Michael had a temper, and Sally was wearing on it-. "That's why we don't trust you, because you're being a jerk." 

 

Zoe rubbed her face, looking between Sally and Michael and Bazz.

 

"Your other friend took the big gem; the Umbra Star, to that other lady right?" she noted. That would be Lawrence's friend Arcana, who had taken the Umbra Star from the theater during the last excursion. "She has it under her supervision, but the powers go out on their own. The Crystal is just...a symbol." she said awkwardly. "Like...look. If you crush it. Go ahead, just crush it in your hand." she said to Michael. The paragon seemed uncertain but did as asked, crushing the pale yellow crystal in his hand with a little bit of effort. 

 

It flashed the same colored light, then a few seconds later, Sally transformed again, back into a Sentry.

"The power's already invested in her. The Crystal's just a container; you can't take them away or break them, they'll just come back." Zoe explained. "The Star has to decide you aren't worthy of the power anymore...for whatever reason, Sally is still worthy of it; Ashley and Felix weren't anymore. That's why taking the Star didn't remove my powers or the powers of any of the other girl's." Zoe explained.

"So, Hah, you can't take it from me." Sally said smugly. 

 

"..." Michael glowered at her, his eyes flashing with light. "Still. Be nice to Buzz. He saved your life and got your powers back." he finally said. Sally stuck out her lip about this but seemed to think it over before sighing and looking at Buzz.

 

"...Thanks, Bug Boy. You did pretty good." she mumbled. "I'm going home now. I'd rather not get into another fight with those weird aliens."

 

Michael pinched the bridge of his nose like he was developing a migraine.

"Bug boy?!? Its Gamma Buzz, baby! The Cockroach Kid! I'll give you a taste of my amazingly amazing Gamma powers you little sh---"

 

He muttered a few words in Spanish, hopping from foot to foot, pulling his antannea until - 

 

- pop!

 

He pulled both out of his head. 

 

"Oops! I mean, I totally meant to do that. They will regrow, you know. Anyhow..." he continued, whipping his hands (still holding the antanae) behind his back. 

 

"No doubt you will do the same for me some day. Saving my life I mean. I'm serious. I probably will need my life saving in the future so you better do it. If someone kills me, I will cry, so there."

"Well...If I see you. And if you're in danger. Then yeah. I'll...I'll save your life. Bug Boy." she says, thinking about it. "Give me your phone number. That way if you're in danger you can...text me. But only if you're in danger." Sally said sternly. "Not if you aren't in danger!" she huffed. "I'm not your babysitter!"

 

Zoe joined Michael in rubbing her nose.

"Well...this whole situation is resolved. At least. Hopefully. I'm hoping that my other friends and your other friends managed to shut the rest of this down. But we won't know until we reconvene." Zoe sighed. "Thanks for helping, Buzz, Star. You're both great help."

"That's more like it," said Gamma, folding his arms, turning his head away. 

 

"Bug Boy indeed!"

 

He pulled out his wallet and opened it, pulling out a contact card. Green lettering, of course.

He was rather proud of that one. 

 

He offered Sally the card. "I am going to be Freedom Cities best radioactive insect based superhero, just you wait and see!"

Sally took the card and typed it into her phone. A few seconds later, Buzz got a text from her own number, so he had it.

 

"Yeah, well. I'll be watching closely." she huffed. "So if you fail, I'm gonna laugh at you. So don't fail." She said sternly. "And maybe I'll call you in a few days or something and see how you're doing. Make sure no more of your pieces fall off."

 

Then she was gone, leaping into the air propelled by the Sentry Powers and disappearing down the block, turning a corner and falling in line with the crowd.

 

Zoe sighed.

 

"She's such a bad influence sometimes." she rubbbed her chin. "We used to date. Back before...uh. Well. Yeah." she waved her hand. "Before some stuff happened. Anyway. Buzz. Star. Thanks. I don't know how they were all tracking us. But I'm hoping that your friends can handle it. And maybe we'll finally get some peace and quiet." she mumbled.

Then she held out her hand to Buzz, asking for her pink Taurus Crystal back.

 

"...I'm hoping this won't go on much longer. You're right Buzz, we're not the people who are supposed to be dealing with all of this, but it always seems to come down to us anyway. It's not like I want it to, but I can't abandon my friends either, you know what I mean? Maybe someday soon Sola will just show up here, and the Freedom League will defeat her for good or something, and...maybe then it'll all be over."

"...You know Buzz, I almost think she's starting to like you." Michael noted as he watched Sally disappear away from him and the rest of the group. What a strange girl.

 

"Yeah, no problem Zoe." Michael said. He looked suddenly awkward when reminded of Zoe's past, far more than the teen girl herself, shuffling a little and looking down.

 

"Uh..Yeah. I get it. I've got some old girlfriends and boyfriends that can kinda cause some problems. Or old friends, things like that." he managed to say, then turned his attention to the destruction around them.

 

"...If this guy was just one of five, and Sola is even stronger...I don't fancy her showing up anytime soon. She must be some kind of monster to keep him and four others in line." he shook his head. "We'll have to keep training to even hope to put up a stop to her, I guess. Because even if the Freedom League does show up, that doesn't mean we should just rely on them and do nothing on our own...sometimes they're not avaliable, or they're busy, or something."  He said.

 

"Alright, Buzz. You about ready to go?" he asked his partner, looking at the Cockroad Kid.

Gamma put up his thumb. "Ready to go!"

 

Was he?

 

He had the grinding feeling in the pit of his cockroach stomach that they had let a villain go. A tingle in his antannae; but what? who? why? All in all his assessment of the situation was that it was a boomerang. One day this mess would come back to bite him on his armour-plated ass. 

 

"As for training, you are on. And experience, too. Soon we will be the mightest heroes in the multiverse, eh? You and your laser shuriken will light up the sky!"

 

All in all they had won, and he wasn't going to let an itch spoil the day. Not when laser shuriken  had been thrown.
