Avenger Assembled Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Roll for initiative, please. Avenger's Initiative is 8 The Monster's Initiative is 23
Hellbound Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 I'm assuming that Hellbound's Fearless feat makes him immune to the intimidation attempt? He will then spend an HP to Sieze Initiative.
Avenger Assembled Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Yes, Hellbound's Fearless does as described. OK, our initiative order is Hellbound Monster Avenger Moira Go Hellbound!
Hellbound Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Hellbound is using All Out Attack to raise his Attack by +5, dropping his Defense by -5. Improved Grab: 1d20+15=21 Into a Grapple: Pin 1d20+21=35
Moira Morley Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 So do I post after Avenger and the monster?
Avenger Assembled Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Ouch; I didn't mean to do that well on the Fiat reroll! That's a DC 33 Toughness save and a hero point for Hellbound.
Hellbound Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 I'd like to say -- hey, man, nice shot Hellbound will spend that hero point on Ultimate Effort: Toughness save. That'll give him a roll of 30, which means he still fails. Hopefully not by enough that everyone in the room is splashed by his blood. It does sound like the monster will get a mouthfull of Strike: 2 and Emotion Control (Fear): 3, though.
Hellbound Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 The beast still needs a save vs. the linked Emotion Control (Fear): 3 from the burning blood. So was that DC 33 Toughness Save due to a natural 20 on the attack roll, or is the monster simply loaded with more lethal damage than any of us can actually save against?
Avenger Assembled Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Thanks for the catch, Hellbound! You actually got me twice; that should be DC 3_1_ on the Toughness because it critted on a Damage 11 attack. As for the Will save...the Monster has Fearless.
Sandman XI Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 the Monster has Fearless.I knew he was everywhere, now hes appearing in other universes
Hellbound Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Oh good lord. Hellbound vs. Wolverine? Now there's a fight I would have been willing to pay money for... if not for the fact that I'm currently losing. The only thing that'd make it better is if Lobo decided to show up  OH! And two things before I forget (again). Sorry about thinking that the monster bit Hellbound when it's clear that his leg was skewered like a bonless hot wing. So that wouldn't have been a mouthfull of burning blood, but rather a fistfull (not that it'd actually matter, but there are the sematics to consider). Fortunately, everyone in the room seems to be immune to the fear effects. Three of the chars have the Fearless feat and Divine doesn't need to breath. The second thing is -- I think that wound was probably good enough to fire off Hellbound's Rage, yes? :D
Hellbound Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Hold on, let's step back just a minute and look at the Grapple check that Hellbound threw. First -- he was only at +19, not +21. The +21 doesn't kick on until he's enraged. But still, that was 14+19 = 33. It looks like the monster only rolled 22 to resist the grapple. Does that mean that he's now pinned?
Avenger Assembled Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Ah, you got me again. That's two hero points for you, buddy. I suggest you spend one on Toughness and another on smacking it really hard this round. OK, we're at a new round and I'm still waiting for that Toughness save from Hellbound, whose turn it is.
Hellbound Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 No problem -- if he's still saving against the DC31, then he'll still be spending that second hero point on Ultimate Effort: Toughness Save for a total of 30. Next round -- still trying to keep him grappled for the others to deliver some attacks. 1d20+10=24 That one is in case he has to renew his melee attack between pin attempts. And his grapple... 1d20+21=22 Ouch :(
Avenger Assembled Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 OK, having gotten a request about moving the thing on, we'll skip to the character development. ;)
Hellbound Posted May 2, 2009 Author Posted May 2, 2009 I believe this has concluded. Go ahead and archive if you so please.
