Thevshi Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Velocity gave a slightly satisfied smile as she put down her bat. She then sped past the one Emissary was fighting, swinging at it as she took a loop around the top of the building to move over near where they had appeared to see if there was any evidence of what might have brought them there.

Barnum Posted December 21, 2007 Author Posted December 21, 2007 Velocity was not so fortunate with her second attempt. The bat swooped away from the speedster before she could land the blow. The bat suffered from an equal amount of misfortune. In attempting to stay out of Veolcity's reach, it never saw the Emissary's punch coming. He put a sizable dent in its head an sent it plummeting to the ground. On the top of the other building, Raindance was not faring as well. He blasted at the nearest bat. The lightning struck the bat, but the creature shrugged it off with ease. Ready to return the favor, the monstrosity swooped in again, trying to take Raindance's head off with it's wing. The nimble hero easily avoided the blow. On the other end of the roof, Hybrid continued to trade strikes and parries with his fearsome opponent. While her "teammates" continued the fight, Velocity sped around the rooftop, looking for any clues. And she found a big one. On the base of the largest dish was a very high-tech looking piece of equipment. By itself, it would not have grabbed her attention. This was Astrolabs; everything here was hight-tech, but this piece of equipment, an antennae covered metal box about the size of a backpack that was affixed to the dish's frame, was glowing bright red . . . the very familiar red glow that Velocity has seen more than once tonight.

hero4hire Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Hybrid shakes his head, still reeling from the blow dealt by the mechanized bat. "Ugh! Remind me to duck next time. These things hit hard!" Still a bit blurry eyed and seeing double the Half-alien Hero takes a shot at one of the wavering images before him. However his punch goes wide and his punch leaves him hanging awkwardly in the air.

MarkK Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Emissary, on seeing Hybrid's troubles, flies over quickly to aid him, or at least provide a secondary target to his bat, sadly the speed of his flight sends his accompanying strike well askew.

Thevshi Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Velocity looked at the device, then glanced back over at the other rooftop as Emissary flew over to help Hybrid. I hope you all can handle them for a moment. She thought. She then activated her communicator. “Deadalus, I have found something on the main antennae here. There were some robot bats that got beamed in as well, we are finishing those up.†She said, and then quickly describes the device to the inventor.

Griffalo Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 It didn't seem like the fight was going particularly well for them at this point. Hybrid and Emissary were getting into some trouble, but Raindance's own opponent was pressing enough, having nearly taken his head off with a cruel swipe. Undeterred that his last blast had little effect, he mustered his will for another strike, this time calling a bolt down from the sky and hoping it would somehow catch the bat unawares and cause it more damage.

Barnum Posted December 23, 2007 Author Posted December 23, 2007 As the fight raged on, Raindance called down some lightning from the dark sky. The crackling bolt of electricity struck the bat dead on, frying the flying monster. It flailed and convulsed for a second before dropping out of the sky like a brick. The final bat seemed undeterred by the failures of its kin. The creature beat its wings and rose higher into the air above Hybrid and the Emissary. With a powerful screech, the creature dove on the two. It crashed its large, heavy body into the Emissary, trying to knock him out of the air.

MarkK Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 The strike itself did nothing to him other than produce a loud, booming clang from metal clashing with metal, but he was growing weary of giving these machines more chances to injure himself and his companions alike. He rolled back with the impact of it, sailing up into a loop that he strained to put as much of his strength into as he could manage, hurtling back through the air towards the bat, fists tightly clenched and held out as a pair to be his point of collision with the creature.

Barnum Posted December 26, 2007 Author Posted December 26, 2007 It took some time for Velocity to describe the device to Daedalus. He had lots of impatient questions, and seemed quite unsatisfied by her answers. "There was no such device at the other scenes, and with that red glow, I'm afraid that it will teleport away when the bats do. There's no time for me to get there and dismantle it. Get the Emissary or Hybrid to rip it off. Try to keep as much of it intact as possible. If it is still glowing . . . like it is about to teleport away . . . smash it, but not too much." Daedalus seemed very unsatisfied with the imprecision of his own answers. "If the device teleports away, we have nothing. If you guys completely demolish it, we have nothing. I need to break it just enough . . . " After a moment to let his words sink in. "Daedalus out."
