Moira Morley Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Duplicates are not limited to the progression rules, are they? If they aren't is there a limit on how many times progression can be taken?
Toptomcat Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Nothing in the core rules...for 20 pp, you can have 2.5 million yous... enough to populate Nevada. In most games, this is another discretionary value that will depend on such intangibles as the rank of the Duplicate power, what kinds of Extras and Flaws are applied to it, and whether or not Duplication is the character's sole superpower. In THIS game, however, I believe the minion/summon rules would apply...which would mean that you can only have the power at all if your 'Duplicate' is far below your PL, and only have more than one duplicate if the Duplicate's PL is lower still.
Dr Archeville Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 The new rules on Summoning/Minions explains this, Moira. 1 Dupe at your PL. 2 (Progression 1) if it's at your PL - 2. Up to 5 (Progression 2) is it's at your PL - 4. And so on.
eyeonthemountain Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Then how does this effect ArmyofOne? He was approved with PL6 minion duplicates
MBCE Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Then how does this effect ArmyofOne? He was approved with PL6 minion duplicates Just wanted to let you know we haven't forgotten your question. The Refs are still in the process of figuring out how to fix this particular oversight. Thank you for your patience.
eyeonthemountain Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Ok, I'm holding off doing much with him till I hear back from you all.
Toptomcat Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 In cases where Duplication is a character's sole superpower, it makes sense to be a bit more relaxed.
Ecalsneerg Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Yeah, it's the difference between duplicating Jamie Madrox and multiplying Batman. ;)
Dr Archeville Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Yeah, it's the difference between duplicating Jamie Madrox and multiplying Batman. According to some recent comics, Madrox is a pseudo-Batman now, since he retains the experiences/knowledge/memories of any dupe he re-absorbs. He's accumulated skills in picking locks, some proficiency in Shaolin Kung Fu, handgun training, multiple languages including Russian and Hawaiian, and playing-card throwing, as well as participated in an Olympic gymnastics team and became a licensed attorney.

Ok... he can be classified as Robin. But not Batman!
MBCE Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Sorry for the delay. We have finally come to a decision. We are going to exclude Duplication from the restrictions on PL of the duplicates, however there is a limit of 10 copies (Progression 3).Duplication can not have the Extra: Heroic. This means that Duplication is not restricted by the Pl-6 ruling when progression 3 is in effect.
